    Thank you for this amazing tutorial! When I began cutting my strips I decided to cut them into 4 inch strips instead of 4.5 which is totally fine by me as I can now make more plus'.

    Beautiful, Amanda! I’ve been wanting to try a plus quilt, so this video of yours is very timely for me!! 😁 Do you use your fabrics in your tutorials, or others? Do you let us know when you use your own? Please forgive me, I didn’t know you were a designer until I came across you on RB’s website. I was, like, “whaaaat???” So cool!

    Could I use a layer cake? Or too much waste?

  • @KarenShirey
    @KarenShirey Год назад

    Maybe I am making this harder than it should be, but can you show the blocks and then how you lay it out, or the different ways to lay them out? That part seems crucial to me as a "beginner"

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  Год назад

      Hi Karen, if you go to my website, the pattern has a layout diagram that should be helpful.

    I'm used to piecing blocks then sewing the larger blocks into rows. How do you keep so many small squares in the right order?

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  6 месяцев назад

      I lay it all out first and then pick up the blocks for two rows at a time to chain piece them together.

  • @MajaNiedzicka

    Hi,
    Can I cut far quarter into 4 rows by 2 x 4,5 and 1 x 12,5 and that way skip sewing 3x4,5 ? Will it work ?

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  Год назад

      Because of the lay out of this quilt (with some partial pluses on the edges of the quilt), it is easier to make it work and evenly distribute your fabrics if you cut them all into squares. However if you create a coloring sheet and know exactly what sizes you need of what prints, you could probably make it work.

      It's called Reverie by Melody Miller (for Moda) - and I purchased it at www.crimsontate.com

    Why don't you cut the centre long piece in one piece?

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  11 месяцев назад

      By cutting it all into squares, it allows you to adjust your + across the quilt (and filling in the sides, top, bottom, etc.).

    A good quilt for non-beginners too, if you want something that looks interesting and you don’t have time (or want to put the time into) making star blocks because…say, maybe-and this is just something off the top my my head-you have a bunch of fabric, have no interest in de-stashing, and want to use some of the lovely fabrics languishing in your collection. I don’t know anyone with a stash, though. Certainly not me. (Lies!)
    Except my Boundless FQ bundle is a dud! Couldn’t get sixteen squares out of a single one, no matter which way I cut. All needed selvages cut off. All needed a clean edge. *sigh* Not all fabric is woven equal.

    Not much of a tutorial if all you show is how to cut up a FQ. It's a beautiful quilt and it's not too difficult, thankfully. But for the beginners, they might like a better tutorial.

      I love this pattern, I am not a beginner, I like to have patterns that are easy to put together, gives me practice, and I can use up some nice fat quarters. I think it gives me freedom to quilt the top how I like. I like your instructions. They are clear and concise and easy to follow. Thank you.
