I really appreciate your talking about how you chose fabrics to go together: how they relate in terms of design, scale, and color. That was really helpful!
Glad it was helpful, Catherine! Choosing fabrics is my favorite part of quilting and I enjoy sharing my process. it's all about finding what works for you and going with it! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I love how you explain how you put colours and patterns together. I love Kaffe Fasset fabrics! I usually just settle for two colours in my quilts. You are a inspiration! Thank you!
Sounds like you're ready for more colors in your quilt, Brigit! That's awesome. It's fun to work with lots of color and your quilt will be so interesting to look at. KF fabrics always draw attention, so mix more together and you'll be happy you did! Thanks for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Glad it was helpful! The way I combine fabrics is a large factor in how I quilt. Hopefully sharing that will assist others in finding what works best for them. Quilting is a personal expression and once we find what works best, it's so much more fun! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I am having trouble deciding if I like your low volume quilts or these bright and bold quilts better! Never mind, I love them all. Thanks and can't wait to see the final layout!
I totally agree, Mary Anne! Who can even decide? That's why quilters need so much fabric, we never know what we'll want to make next, right?! LOL I enjoy having you following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Wow, what an amazing spin on a traditional block! I have to agree with you….I couldn’t have kept my hands off that fabric either 💗. Thank you for sharing your love of fabric and quilting!
Sadly, my beautiful machine is in Az, and I’m in Pa waiting on my house to sell. Honestly it’s probably a good thing because I would be sewing and not doing necessary repairs. Hopefully come July, I will be burning up those feed doggies! So for now I just binge watch quilting videos.
Greatly appreciated, Pamela. These prints need room to show off and the accent strips become a bit of a frame for each fabric to shine. This has been a fun quilt to work on! Thanks for following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
thank you so much for all your time in explaining how certain colors go together and especially how you use them in your patterns. It really helps us that are new to sewing.
You are so welcome, I'm glad it's helpful! Once I discovered my quilting style, I've loved every quilt I make and thoroughly enjoy doing it. I really appreciate your comment b/c combining colors can be intimidating for a lot of us. Thank you for your feedback. Welcome to quilting and please let me know if you have any questions. This pattern along with the recent log cabins I've made have definitely sold me, Brenda, I was a bit skeptical about them and focused on other patchwork blocks. But I am now hooked and loving the versatility of log cabin blocks. Can't to get some more going. LOL Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Completely understood, Angela! Please pull your quilt out of the closet and use it! We all have a quilt that didn't turn out as expected, but we also learn from each one we make. I made one with all vintage florals that is a ghastly sight. Now I just smile every time I curl up with it on the couch. This is my first quilt with Kaffe fabric as I wasn't sure how to use it either. My best decision was using an accent strip which I've used in other modern style quilts. I'm very pleased with how this turned out. Remember that every quilt teaches you something to make the next one even better! I can't wait to see your next one. :) Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Me too, Connie! Colorful Kaffe Fassett fabrics are lots of fun to work with. This is a very simple pattern and looks great with any fabric choice, as long as you have some good contrast. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thanks for watching, Nancy! Fat quarters are my favorite precut and I have a free pattern you can download - it's called 'All Blocked In'. You can watch the video 'Easy FQ Quilt Tutorial' which was released Dec 3, 2021 and the free pattern can be downloaded with the link in the description. Plus it's in my Fat Quarter Playlist along with a couple different variations of the same pattern. There is also a post on my website (find that link at the bottom of the description for this video) and that link is listed below in this reply as I'm not sure I can add a clickable link. If you go to my website and search 'Batik Fat Quarter Baby Quilt' you should be able to get there and click on the free download...or email me at lealouise@inspiredquiltingbylealouise.com. inspiredquiltingbylealouise.com/batik-fat-quarter-baby-quilt/ Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I absolutely love your creativity however I do find it tiring listening to so much talking. I’m not one to criticize but I truly want to continue watching your videos. It’s the double explanations or the repeating that I find difficult. 😅 Thank you very much for your tutorials, your style is absolutely amazing. 😊😊
I understand what you're saying, Lorraine! While I've quilted for years, this electronic medium is new to me. It's a learning process and I think you'll find my video skills are improving. 😊 Thanks you for your input, I appreciate it. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I actually want to apologize for my comment. I came down with a migraine after my comment. I think my sensitivity had more to do with my head rather than your video. My apologies.
I have to agree but it must be hard to get right when you first begin. So once she gets used to this format it will get better . But may I ask why you don't press your fat quarter before cutting? I am just learning and I want to know the proper way of doing things. I'm 75 and I don't have that many years left to learn the right way
Hi Lorraine, the small blocks measure 12" and the larger block is 15". Check the description below the video for the link to get the complete pattern. It also includes a layout using just the smaller blocks. It's a versatile and FUN quilt to make! Thanks for watching. 😊 Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
While it looks blue in the video, Marian, this is Kaffe Fassett's Fern fabric in turquoise. It works perfectly with these prints as an accent. So glad you like the combo, I'm very please with how it turned out. Thanks for your comment. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Not to worry! The Big Reveal will be tomorrow - Monday night. The phots are being added to the pattern and all will be ready. I can't wait for everyone to see this beauty! So appreciate you following along. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

That's a personal preference, Sally. If the fabric has lots of creases and wrinkles I'll definitely give it a good press. When it's just folds I can generally work around that. Thanks for watching, Lea Louise
I went to the site to purchase this pattern but it appears the only way to pay for it is via credit card. I will not use a credit card online in an unprotected site. Do you have an option to pay via PayPal?
Thanks for bringing this up, Mary. My site uses Stripe for e-commerce. They're a world-class leader for payment processing and fraud prevention. In the year I've used them there has never been a problem. Currently, I don't use PayPal. Thanks so much for watching my channel! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I appreciate your comment and understand, Vicki! It is a fine line to determine. This video has a lengthier design segment due to this particular line of fabric. Many quilters are hesitant to use Kaffe Fasstt fabrics due to each print's individual, strong design. My goal was to show some helpful options. Though I must confess, I can talk about color and design endlessly! LOL Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I hear you, Nancy, but quilting for me is all about the fabric choices, colors and design. That's what I love to share. Simply sewing isn't very interesting to me without the preliminary steps. Just bump up your play back speed a bit and get to the part you want to see! I appreciate you hanging in there. :) Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
