if unsaved sinners burn forever , then sin will last forever, regardless of its tormented condition. satan will exist forever. these statements are contrary to scripture

    • @Slikk22
      @Slikk22 3 года назад +10

Exactly!!! If everyone who winds up in the lake of fire burns forever, then sin lasts forever, right along with satan, demons and sinners. That would also mean that pain lasts forever as well because anyone burning in fire forever will absolutely feel pain. But the bible clearly says that there will be no more pain. This means that no one (anywhere) would be able to feel pain because pain itself would no longer exist. Therefor, the most logical conclusion is that sinners parish in the lake of fire. To any of you who believe in eternal torture, ask yourself, which one of these two statements is true??? People will experience pain forever in the lake of fire... (OR). Pain will no longer exist just as the bible says. Both of these statements cannot be true.

This I believe is error. Malachi 4 I believe is talking about the judgement of the wicked who are on the earth. Most likely when Christ returns the second time. The wicked will be burnt up like ashes at his appearing. The glory of God will destroy there bodies......It can be translated as this OR it can mean a literal burning up that already took place in Israel History where God outpoured judgement on the wicked and there physical bodies were burnt up.
At the judgement of the wicked which is called the second death, the wicked are thrown into the lake of Fire. If Malachi 4 is speaking about that judgement then how then are we able to tread over their ashes in the day the Lord does it? Isn't the devil in the lake of fire too? Wouldn't there be torment there day and night? So what business do the redeemed have walking around in the lake of fire? How can we be walking in ashes if the lake of fire burns forever and ever? We pick out verses but we need to read the verses before or after to get context.
This chapter talks specifically about a period of time in Israel History. If we are to believe it has anything to do with end time eschatology then it clearly cannot be the lake of fire because it contradicts everything said about the lake of fire. This scripture does not even say lake of fire. It says in the DAY that shall burn like an oven. The lake of fire is not a day. It is a lake of fire that "torments day and night".
Mathew 24:46 speaks of eternal punishment. A person cannot be punished if they don't exist. That cannot be called punishment. They have no consciousness to suffer it.
Mathew 13:42 it says they will be thrown into the furnace of fire and in that PLACE there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Why would God resurrect the wicked only to throw them into the lake that they cease to exist after the judgement? There are too many holes in this belief.

The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as “eternal fire” (Matthew 25:41), “unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12), “shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2), a place where “the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44-49), a place of “torment” and “fire” (Luke 16:23-24), “everlasting destruction” (2 Thessalonians 1:9), a place where “the smoke of torment rises forever and ever” (Revelation 14:10-11), and a “lake of burning sulfur” where the wicked are “tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).
The punishment of the wicked in hell is as never ending as the bliss of the righteous in heaven. Jesus Himself indicates that punishment in hell is just as everlasting as life in heaven (Matthew 25:46). The wicked are forever subject to the fury and the wrath of God. Those in hell will acknowledge the perfect justice of God (Psalm 76:10). Those who are in hell will know that their punishment is just and that they alone are to blame (Deuteronomy 32:3-5). Yes, hell is real. Yes, hell is a place of torment and punishment that lasts forever and ever, with no end. Praise God that, through Jesus, we can escape this eternal fate (John 3:16, 18, 36).

Doug Batchelor. Sorry for the long post. I grew up old school Pentecostal and was scared to death of eternal torment. In my early 30s I had a mental breakdown that caused visual and audible hallucinations. I can’t blame the church for the mental breakdown but with my upbringing I do believe it definitely had an influence on my hallucinations. I also have Scrupulosity OCD that causes religious intrusive thoughts. It was really bad in 2007-2010 but with the right medication and unlearning everything I was told in my life I now believe that annihilation is the punishment for the wicked and not ECT. I’m on the conditional immortality side and that means your immortality is conditional on whether you accept Jesus or not and the punishment for refusing Jesus is death. The punishment of annihilation could be instant or seconds to minutes. I don’t believe it’s going to be a long period of time like we perceive time but it will seem like a long time because of the suffering. Once you study the scriptures from a fresh perspective without having ECT as your primary belief it becomes clear that ECT is from the pits of hell so to say. There are more verses that support destruction of the wicked than ECT but certain people take one or two verses and say look at this one but it can be easily explained. They can’t get passed their traditional upbringing because they believe it’s 100% true and are afraid of being a false teacher or they are afraid of losing their congregation. Chris Date is another person that believes in annihilation Rethinking Hell Is his website and youtube and also Facebook. He’s done countless debates on ECT verses CI/annihilation. This could either bring people to Christ or away because the punishment is death and not ECT. If people want everlasting life then Christ is the only way but the other option is death. Most people don’t want death to be the end and some believe that annihilation is actually worse than ECT. That’s ridiculous I mean Trillions upon Trillions of years is better than a few moments of pain and then being removed forever. There’s the question do you want to die and cease to exist forever or have eternal life. A lot would say eternal life but ceasing to exist would just be that you wouldn’t know anything you’d be gone.

Undying Worm and Unquenchable Fire (NT)
      Mark 9:42-48
Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, “where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.”

Adventism teaches the false doctrine of the "annihilation" of sinners, including Satan and his demons, instead of what the Bible says: an eternal and conscious punishment, for all the wicked, without EXCEPTION, in the lake of fire and brimstone. !
"The devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where both the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night, forever and ever." Revelation 20:10
'And if anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:15
"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives the mark on his forehead or on his hand,
This man also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured unmixed into the cup of his wrath; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone before the holy angels and before the Lamb.
And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the sign of his name, have no rest day or night." Revelation 14:9-11
"And they shall go into ETERNAL TORMENT, but the righteous into ETERNAL LIFE." Matthew 25:46
In this verse, for example and following the same logic, does it then mean that eternal life is only for a certain time and then we disappear?
All those who rejected God will be punished, but with different intensities. Certainly the punishment of Satan, the beast and the false prophet will be much more intense than, for example, an atheist. But the punishment for all will be ETERNAL!!!
      So the question is:
Are we the ones who decide what God can and cannot do?
How can the creature question the Creator?
You refuse to believe him because you don't think it's fair??
God is love but he is also just!!

@@07silvali states that “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
However in other versions it states: and the Devil, who is leading them astray, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where [are] the beast and the false prophet, and they shall be tormented day and night -- to the ages of the ages. An age is an undefined time in the bible.
In order to clear up this issue we must look at ALL verses in the bible not just this one.
-Malachi 4:1 “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.” (Sounds like destruction to me)
-Malachi 4:3 “And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Are the ashes suffering?)
-Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Notice how the soul is getting destroyed.)
-Jude 1:7 “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” (Sodom and Gomorrha were burned with “eternal” fire and yet that fire isn't still around)

How would heaven feel to you if your lost family or friend keep on calling you from out of hell ? You think that would be a nice "heaven"? Calling on you for ever and ever? Maybe your own child? The Sadducees didn't believe in afterlife, the parable was for their understanding.

    2nd timothy 4 verses 3-4
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
GOD is love, HE is merciful, HE is righteous, HE is HOLY (which means to be perfect and sinless)
But Don't Forget That HE is JUST, and hates sin, a JUST GOD cannot allow injustice which means he cannot let sin go unpunished, you are presupposing That a JUST GOD is Unjust if he would allow a 14 year old to burn after the age of accountability, imposing your own morality onto GOD to say he is unjust if such things occurred. If your viewpoint on hell was correct then there would be no need for CHRIST JESUS, for if one was to commit sins that are unthinkably wicked if it's even a billion years for example, the torment would eventually end, you could do whatever you want and have comfort in knowing that no matter how evil you were even if it took a trillion years, eventually the torment would end in the lake of fire and you would be no more. there would be no accountability for this lifetime. I think we as Christians can have solace in knowing that whatever we believe in theologically, the one we need in our lives to be Saved is Jesus Christ and in him alone is the way to salvation, if we accept him as Lord and repent from our evil and sinful ways. What will we be saved from? His wrath, the lake of fire, hell, death. If you are having trouble with this concept that Hell is eternal, just know this, GOD is infinitely just and he alone will do the right thing. no one will be given a raw deal, no one will be were they don't want to be, were they're not supposed to be. If you want to be with God than you should seek him out and be with him, and if you don't, than God will not force you into heaven against your will. Hell is a quarantine of evil, and in hell your are free and can continue to reject God but you're confined to it, and don't forget that you're presupposing that everyone wants to go to Heaven, if satan and the fallen angels rejected God in heaven than we human on earth can do like wise. I hope if you actually read this just know brothers and sisters that whether the lake of fire is eternal torment or not (which it is for all sin and sinners) that this is a secondary issue, the most important thing is to make sure you give your life to Jesus Christ so you can be saved, study the word, the devil confuses and separates the church with different doctrine, i think this theology is very dangerous and holds no one accountable for sin and evil, but remember everyone that in Christ Jesus alone is eternal life.

Mowing grass or cooking on the Sabbath is not a sin! Sin is lawlessness! Lawlessness is not surrendering or submitting our will and desires to God's will.....pure & simple! Jesus said if you look & lust, you're already guilty.....sin is a condition of our desires of our heart!
Therefore only the Holy Spirit can convict us and free us of sin....unforgiveness and being angry without just cause are sins not even mentioned in the 10 Commandments! Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God! What day we go to church has nothing to do with sin. Murder is a sin to all.....murder, adultery, idolatry, all are guilty of sin! Not all were given the 4th Commandment! So then Sabbath keeping has nothing to do with sin! How could Sabbath breaking be a sin when the 4th Commandment did not even exist until Moses? Only given to Israel....yet scripture is clear, all have sinned? God's law is a spiritual reality which is exactly why the 4th Commandment is never reiterated in the New Covenant!

If Jesus is Lord, than even the Sabbath comes under His Lordship....that means He, not the law, not the 4th Commandment, but Jesus owns the Sabbath outright or He's not the Lord of the Sabbath....which is it? He said, "The Son of Man is EVEN LORD OF THE SABBATH."
That means we, CHRISTians are under His Law in this Covenant vs the 10 Commandments
His Law is kindness, love, faith, obeying His Commandments which is because Jesus Himself is the fulfillment of all the Law & Prophets
    Christ supercedes the Old Covenant
It's a New Law....kept by walking in the Spirit, through faith
We do not need to keep the 10 Commandments because we are saved and under Christ and we need to obey His Commandments
His law supercedes the 10 Commandments
His law is spiritually kept no longer through the letter, which is exactly why the 4th Commandment no longer exists in the natural but is a spiritual reality...which is why Saturday can't be our 7th day Sabbath
It certainly wasn't the 7th day of Genesis

Neg Ste. Lucie - No, we ARE a living soul. The dust of the earth and the life force of God’s breath = a living soul. Death is the reverse of this equation. Simple math. God’s life power returns to him - that power that sustained out life and the body becomes dust again at death. There is no separate spirit or soul. We are not immortal - only God is. And when the saved are glorified with incorruption an immortality - it is an extrinsic immortality - not intrinsic like God’s. We will have to eat monthly of the tree of life to live eternally. Read Isaiah 66.

Why Sunday not Saturday? So we would focus on Jesus now, keeping His Commandments not focus on the Law, but Jesus now....it's really that simple
If you're hyper-focused on Sabbath, you'll not be focused on Christ will you? He is even Lord of the Sabbath so then there is no 4th Commandment under Christ now
The Law was a school master until the promise came
If we're focusing on Jesus and His Commandments, not the 10, then we're not going to sin are we? You're giving all the credence to the 10 Commandments which takes the power and validity of the law of Christ away... Christ represents the law we keep as Saved, born-again Christians already....:).....in contrast the 10 Commandments signify the curse of sin & death because the letter kills and also they were given to the flesh which was never subject to God's law to begin with

@@emeraldv3nom415 please let the Bible speak for itself. ''And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name''. But not just buying and selling...''And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed''. If you don't take the mark you have more to worry about then buying and selling. You will die! You say 'it'' is required to buy or sell AND stay alive but you never say what ''it'' is? You disagree with ''warpath''...ok, then what is ''it''? Lets not guess. The first step is to ID the beast and there is plenty in scripture to do so. Once you understand who the beast is you will then understand the mark. Let me say this about the mark. The mark has something to do with worship! ''And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would NOT WORSHIP the image of the beast should be killed. Do you see it? Those who do ''NOT WORSHIP'' the beast, whoever that is will receive the seal of God, right? Ok, then one must chose to ''WORSHIP THE BEAST'' to receive the mark. Ok, its simple. Those living in that time...could be us will be required to make a choice..for God or this beast power. If you chose to worship the beast, well lets let the Lord answer..''If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb''. You do not want to receive this mark so you better understand who the first beast is of rev 13 AND who the second beast is that enforces the mark... whatever ''it'' is!!!!!!

"Dazzwidd", even if this was actually meant as a "parable", it would actually make no difference, as ALL "parables" in Scripture adhere to the principle of 'realism'. 'Realism' in Scripture is the fact that it is totally possible that all of the people, places and events in the narrative related, reflect possible happenings in the real world, and are NEVER 'unrealistic' or 'false' to reality and truth in any way. "Dazzwidd", simply put, there is absolutely NO REASON why the "sinless" Jesus Christ would "deceive" or "lie" to anyone He talked to, and tell them things that simply were NOT true, just for the sake of utilizing a "parable". Glen Swain even if our days in hell were multiplied so that they felt 1000x longer, this still does not come close to eternity. God is just. He will punish the wicked according to their works. How could it be just to punish someone for eternity for the sins they committed in a lifetime? Even satan who has sinned and caused others to sin more than anyone else will not burn forever. The Bible says of satan in Ezekiel verses 13-19 “Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.” It says he will be brought to ashes and that never shall he be anymore. Not even satan will suffer for an eternity. He will suffer for a very long time, but not for eternity.

Robt Clayton Jesus was telling a parable. The rich man represents Israel who was given so much light from God. So much truth from the scriptures ( rich man feasting sumptuously and yet lived as a hypocrite) And Lazarus represents the gentiles who were starving for truth. ( the crumbs that fell from the rich mans table) anyway, this question of wether hell is eternal or not has no bearing on whether we go there. Only the righteous will inherit the kingdom of God. No one who sins or does wickedness will enter through the gates into the city. So if we don’t want to go to hell, whichever way hell may be, then we must overcome our sins. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Of course, how we answer this question says a lot about who we think Jesus is. Tell me, can you think of anything worse than burning people for an eternity? All the suffering that the devil has caused for humanity over these few thousand years in which he has be free to roam to and fro, pales in comparison to causing the fast majority of all the people who have ever lived ( all the billions of them) to suffer in conscious burning torment eternally. That is not the Jesus if the Bible. All these ideas people have of an eternally burning hell come from Greek mythology and other extra biblical sources. There are far more verses in the Bible which speak of the wicked being destroyed and turned to ashes and never existing anymore and being as if they had never been etc etc, than there are passages which at first glance would seem to indicate that hell is eternal. I would recommend to you that you look up the meaning and origin of the word hell. Now a days when people say the word hell they immediately imagine some dark fiery place under the earth where satan is the leader his demons are given the privilege by God to torment people for the ceaseless ages of eternity. This is a nonsensical view. People often say hell must be eternal because God is infinite and and so any sin against him needs to be infinite as well. Where is this written in the holy scriptures?? So many people who argue for an eternally burning hell have said this. They are just using their own logic. Their own reasoning to come to this horrific conclusion. Only Satan would delight is sadistically torturing people throughout eternity. “Eternity” are we comprehending what that even means? Never ever ending. Kid dies lost and has to be on fire for ever.. That is not a just punishment. Kid will receive same punishment as someone who dedicated their entire life to Killy and torturing and doing all kind of wickedness? People have also said that it isn’t really a punishment if it ends at some point. That the only thing that matters to a man is his current state of existence, and if he were to die and stop existing and stop feeling pain then it is as if the punishment never happened. Do you know what kind of people also share this mindset? Sadists. People who get pleasure out of torturing other people. People like for instance Jeffrey Dahmer who drilled holes in peoples heads to pour acid in there brains to try to make them into zombie slaves. People who trap others down in there basement to torture them also try to prolong suffering because it is the shear act of inflicting pain that gives them pleasure. Where as God says “Ezekiel 18:23 King James Version (KJV)
23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?” God would suffer eternally as well watching the creatures that he loves and died to save suffer for eternity. He punishes the wicked because he is just and not because he will derive pleasure from it or, as many have said when trying to explain the eternal torment of the wicked, as a means of increasing the pleasure of Saved, so they can look on the wicked burning and say to themselves “ well at least it’s not me burning” and by contrasting their existence withe the miserable existence of the wicked their pleasure and joy will increase. This is the same thing that the wicked do everyday here o. Earth. Comparing themselves to others they see as less fortunate to make themselves feel “happy”. This attitude is of satan and of the world.

i could be incorrect but i there are about 14 verses in the NT where jesus talks about hell.HE does not say anything about burnin forever and ever..HE does say people will be "burned up".."destroyed".."perish"..
in 2peter3:10 it says "both the earth &the works that are in the earth will be burned up "
    john3:16 the word "perish"is used..
romans6:23 for the wages of sin is death but the gift of GOD is eternal life.
if you burn FOREVER in hell then you also have ETERNAL LIFE do you not... something is not adding up.. how can the saved and the damned have eternal life????
    luke13:3 you will perish
john3:16 you should not PERISH but have EVERLASTING LIFE!!!!
how can someone be not there and there at the same time????
matt25:46 eternal punishment is SINGULAR NOT PLURAL..
the punishment is eternal but not the punishing..
matt10:28 this is very direct FEAR HIM WHO CAN DESTROY BOTH THE SOUL AND BODY... THAT IS VERY CLEAR..
    matt7:13-14 the word DESTRUCTION..
    ALL THIS FROM THE NT.
the NT must match up with the OT not the other way round...WHY????
b ecause does it not say....GOD NEVER CHANGES... SO what is said in the OT should be the same in the NT.
    NOW FROM THE OT...PSALM
:9-20 the wicked will be no more....FOR the wicked will PERISH.
for the enemies of the LORD like the splender of the meadow shall vanish.
MALACHI3:6 for i am the LORD, I CHANGE NOT..........THAT IS GOD SPEAKING..
HE cannot say something different in the NT now can HE????
MALACHI 4:1-3 the wicked will be stubble, shall burn them up ,leave them neither nor root or branch, they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet...
THIS IS GOD SAYING THIS NOT MAN....THESE ARE GODS WORDS
    would this not be ANNIHILATION?????
psalm145:20 all the wicked will destroy.
psalm 21:9 the fire will devour them...
OBADIAH 1:15-16 they shall be as if they never were...
psalm 92:7 though the wicked spring up like grass and all evil doers florish
THEY WILL BE FOREVER DESTROYED..... THAT IS A POWERFULL STATEMENT...
psalm 10:20 but the wicked will perish and the enemines of the LORD shall be as the fat of the lambs, they shall consume into smoke they will consume away.. AGAIN THAT IS PRETTY POWERFULL STATEMENT..
EZEKIEL 28::18-19 THIS IS GOD SPEAKING.......i will bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and i will bring thee the ashes upon the earth in sight of all them that behold thee...
NT... TIES IN WITH THE OT here
2PETER 2:6 SODOM AND GOMORRHA were set as example, they were destroyed and made into ASHES... is that place still burning today???
ALL THIS POINTS TO " COMPLETE ANNIHILATION "
please show me where i am WRONG?????
how can the damned also ETERNAL LIFE, EVEN IF IT IS HELL... IF THEY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE ....... GOD LIED AND EVERYONE HAS ETERNAL LIFE...

@@davidsveips Davids, most of the Scriptural passages you quoted here were simply being MISAPPLIED by you, while the others that actually related to the subject matter of "the eternal fire of hell", totally SUPPORTED my position, and totally REFUTED yours. Davids, you just can't take a particular passage of Scripture out of its original context, and then make it applicable to whatever else suits your personal needs and desires. God's punishing "fire" that He sends down on the earth from heaven, is NOT the same thing as "the eternal fire of hell", but you continually conflated the two in your Scriptural quotations here. And the words of Ezekiel 28:19, "you have come to a horrible end and will be no more", are concerning the physical existence on the earth of that person being "no more". And God "kindling an unquenchable fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses" (Jeremiah 17:27), is actually referencing that God "will set fire to these gates. The fire will spread to the palaces, and no one will be able to put out the roaring flames." But the fire will be extinguished once the destruction of the gates and palaces is complete. Davids, once again, this is NOT the same thing as "the eternal fire of hell" (Matthew 18:8-9), or "go to hell, to the unquenchable fire" (Mark 9:43 ESV) or "into hell, where the fire never goes out" (Mark 9:43 NIV). And the witness of Revelation 21:8 [“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”], totally repudiates your assertion, and totally affirms mine. Davids, you really have to be very 'indoctrinated' by the "Seventh-day Adventist Church", to not be able to see just how terribly non-Scripturally based your viewpoint truly is.

The problem doesn't lie in the debate about whether or not hell is eternal. The problem lies in this question: Is God good and holy enough to justify an eternal punishment of sinners?
Think of it this way: If God were (hypothetically) only a little holy and bit good and somewhat righteous - then the price for sin unredeemed would be a short punishment period in hell. But, if God (which He is) is completely holy and completely perfect and completely righteous - that would justify an eternal punishment.
The question should not revolve around whether or not we think an eternity in hell is justified - we will never think that an eternity in hell is justified. The question should be: Is God good and holy enough to justify an eternal punishment of sinners? The answer is "Yes." God is so good and so just and so holy, that His very existence in holiness and perfection justifies an eternity in hell.

Everlasting punishment means it's eternal, never-ending! Punishment is torment. The rich man in hell lifted up his eyes, and saw Father Abraham afar off and said....Jesus never used names in parables folks! Jesus used Abraham,Moses, the prophets, Lazarus, the rich man and his brothers... for they have Moses & the Prophets....In no parable not one did Jesus ever mention Moses & the Prophets! The rich man has been in this horrible place for over 2,000 years and is still begging for a drop of water! Please please stop calling Luke 16 a parable! Jesus would never mention Moses & the Prophets or Abraham in any of His parables! Moses & the Prophets was the Tanakh! If that was a parable, those who heard it would not have thought it was! You teach and believe like the JW's.
Videos like this one must generate a lot of money with over 2000 comments and replies. The verses that you don't believe say 'forever and ever', and yet you imply that is temporal. This way of teaching may cause many to join the SDA, but if Hell is 'forever and ever' Jesus will tell you 'I never knew you', as He does not approve of rejecting His words. The 'fearful' are those that are too cowardly to preach the truth, and the 'unbelieving' are those that deny Christ's words to be true and faithful; thus, you should study Rev.21:8 before it's too late.
By adding to, and taking away from, the words in Revelation, it seems that you are simply 'loving and making a lie' (Rev.22:15).
Apostle Paul tells us to 'let God be true, but every man a liar' (Rom.3:4), so then it's wisdom for me to take every verse to heart and believe it, in spite of those (like you) that explain it away. You should do the same! (Rev.22:10-12).

Being in the belly of a great fish must have felt like being in the belly of hell, but he was in God's hands. It was Jonah that wrote 'They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy', and 'Salvation is of the LORD' (Jon.2:8,9). Jonah's experience was a type of Jesus being in the heart of the earth, and then 'life from the dead' (Acts 2:24-32).
If 'the resurrection of damnation' (Jn.5:29) was merely 1000 years, every minute would feel like a year, every second would feel like a fortnight, yet Jesus uses the same word for both places (Matt.25:46). With that reasoning, maybe eternal life is merely for 1000 years. So then, unbelief is not from God, and it's better to 'let God be true, but every man a liar' (Rom.3:3,4) that would question God's word. We find the same thing with Daniel 12:2. I've thought about, and studied, these things for 50-60 years...and His Word never changes.

Bad deceased people are now in grave sleeping or waiting in hell, but on the judgement day God will resurrect them and will simply put everyone to sleep forever, what's the point of the judgement day then? A lot of people see eternal nothingness as heaven so the bad people will be relaxed and will feel as if they're going to heaven when they find out that they will cease to exist. There is no point of the judgement day if the bad people are simply gonna cease to exist after the judgement day. Imagine the serial killers, rapists etc and God will tell them ''You did this you did that you were a bad person on earth and now i will punish you by destroying your soul and you will cease to exist'' and that guy will feel happy knowing that he will not suffer so eternal nothingness will be like a reward for them. Do you think it's justice?

If there's a worm somewhere in the wood, how long do you think it will take for that worm to die? Or will it die instantly? I think it will take time. But in the end, it will be consumed. And afterwards you'll find nothing, only ashes.

this had me scared for over a month now, ever since i saw a video about a visit-to-hell testimony... but if you read it further, like look at the original texts and stuff, then you see that King James mistranslated Sheol, Hades, and Tartarus with Hell- not to mention that all our visions of Hell come from Dante's Inferno, which is more or less fan-fiction, and that messed things up as all three are completely different places, especially with verses about the soul being destroyed. kinda hard to have a soul burn forever when it's destroyed, right?
And look at Jonah & Sodom and Gomorrah- Jonah complained about being in the whale "forever and ever" and Sodom and Gomorrah were said to have burned "forever and ever"... yet Jonah was spat out after 3 days and the cities are long gone with the remains under the sea. Yet another mistranslation- the original word was Age, not Endless or Forever. "But what about the Rich Man and Lazarus?" That was a story. All of Jesus' parables were stories he uses as examples. Did the Rich Man and Lazarus exist? Maybe.
while the thought of being subject to such pain scares the bejeesus out of me- i am having a impossible time trying to stop my sexual sin-, at least it would be temporary before complete erasure... which in itself is scary, unless the universalist view that Hell serves as a "refinement" process to purify the souls of sin is the right. And if you look at the Islam religion, Hell for them is also temporary, while the Jews have no Hell.
and from the atheist's point of view, Hell, and the Bible in general, was likely made up by wicked people who wanted to control the population. Are they right? Who knows. the only way to find out the truth of 4000 years of religion is through a time machine, but we don't have one. well, not yet.

If you believe that the wages for sin is eternal suffering in a place called hell, and you also believe that Christ took your punishment upon himself. Doesn’t this mean that Christ would be required to suffer in a place called hell for as long as you were required to do so?
If the punishment for the unsaved was conscious eternal suffering in a place called hell, then why does the Bible tell us that Christ’s soul was not left in hell?
    Psalm 16:10
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
If therefore Christ was not left in hell, then his punishment had an end. This of course, presents a big problem if you believe that the penalty for our sins is suffering without end in a place called hell.
But if you understand that the wages of sin is death and not eternal conscious suffering in a place called hell, then harmony with the scriptures begins to take place.
    Romans 6:23
For the wages (the payment) of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Death is the payment for sins that the law of God has always required. Therefore, death is the payment that Christ had to pay on behalf of the sins of his elect. And death is the payment all of the non-elect have to pay for their own sins. Upon death, an unsaved individual ceases to exist because his soul was dead already at the moment of conception, therefore, upon the death of the body, that individual is dead forever and has ceased to exist, or as the Bible puts it, that individual has perished.
This is why John 3:16 gives us the contrast of either living forever or perishing, which means that they cease to exist.
    John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Christ indeed took upon himself the punishment required by the law of God and died for the sins of his chosen people, but unlike the non-elect which have no power over death, Christ (who is Almighty God) could satisfy the demands of His own law by dying and then raising himself from the dead. Thus, God righteous demand for the sins of the elect was satisfied and so, Christ did indeed take our punishment upon himself, but it wasn’t conscious suffering for an eternity in a place called hell, else He would still have to be there, but rather, it was death.
The doctrine of death being the payment for sins and not eternal suffering, teaches us that God’s punishment for sin does indeed have an end, it ends when the unsaved individual dies. It ended when Christ died for the sins of his elect, and His resurrection provided the means of eternal life for all those whose sins were laid upon Christ. And the doctrine of limited punishment, as opposed to eternal conscious punishment, is indeed taught in the scriptures.
    Deuteronomy 25:1-3
If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous and condemn the wicked. 2 And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number. 3 Forty stripes he may give him, and NOT EXCEED: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem VILE unto thee.
One thing that the Bible assures us of, is that God, who has laid down the law for mankind, has bound himself to his own law. This law therefore would be no exception in that God cannot command that the punishment for the wicked is not to exceed a certain number of stripes, and then turn around and Himself punish the wicked without end. This type of doctrine does not harmonize with the scriptures. But when we realize that the same laws that apply to mankind also apply to God himself, then we can see that there is harmony when we also realize that death is the penalty for sin rather than eternal conscious suffering in a place called hell. Death is the end of the punishment of the unsaved.
    Ecclesiastes 9:5-6
For the living know that they shall die but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.
    Ezekiel 18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, It shall die.
    James 2:10
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

    • @JustFollowJesus

Forever doesn’t specify a period of time. Usually it’s associated with whatever it’s talking about. For instance this servant who chooses to stay with his master permanently will not be his servant for eternity, but for the rest of his life.
      Exodus 21:6
then his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door, or to the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.
Satan will burn forever, and since that word is tied to him, it’s til the end of him.
If Christ is associated with forever, it will be as long as He exists.
Remember the word translated as “forever” is eons, or ages.

When I was a small boy, my parents taught me about their understanding of the Bible.
That isn’t all they did, however. Beginning when I was about ten, they also showed me some of the reasons they interpreted the Bible the way they did. Dogmatism is appropriate for children when they aren’t yet old enough to understand the reasons for their parents beliefs. Dogmatism isn’t appropriate when parents or pastors or evangelists are speaking to people who are old enough to understand how they (the parents or pastors or evangelists) decided how to interpret the evidence.
Doug Batchelor has given us some Bible texts that, taken by themselves, seem to indicate that the final end of the finally impenitent will be by fire and that the result of that fire will be their permanent destruction. He has also given us his explanation of several texts that seem to indicate that hell is a place or that it will burn forever.
Doug Batchelor would probably agree with Rich Hannon “Most people who think they have rejected God have really only rejected a caricature of him.”
It seems to me that it would be even more helpful to explain how people decide whether A: Humans were endowed at creation with conditional immortality or
B: Humans have innate immortality or immortal souls.
A: The finally impenitent will be punished by suffering and complete destruction in a lake of fire or
B: there is an eternally-burning hell in which souls are tormented without end.

For more than a thousand years, the clergy of the Western church taught that Earth was shaped like a pancake and hell was a PLACE under the earth.
The theory that Earth is shaped more like a ball and that it is in orbit around the Sun posed a serious challenge to that doctrine.
On the other hand, if the Bible is read from the perspective that Earth is shaped more like a ball and that there isn’t anything “under” it, the garden of Eden can be understood as a manicured spot on an idyllic Earth and the goal of the plan or salvation is to restore this planet to a state not unlike the Earth as it came fresh from the hand of the creator - a new Earth.
The following is not intended as an argument against the flat Earth doctrine - or the doctrine that hell is a place, for that matter. There ARE some Bible verses which, if taken by themselves, can be construed as teaching that hell is a place maintained by “God” for the punishment of sinners.
It seems to me that such a god is “too small” to rid the universe of the terrible blight of sin.
I don’t base my theology on Paradise Lost (John Milton - seventeenth century), The Devil’s Advocate (Andrew Neiderman - born 1940), C.S. Lewis (twentieth century) or Doug Batchelor but I think each of them has promulgated some interesting insights into who the devil is and how he operates. Personally, I think the doctrine of an eternally-burning hell is Satan’s favorite doctrine. I think it has turned more people against the God of the Bible than any other one doctrine.
So what possible alternative is there to the popular interpretation of “hell”?
Most people have never stopped to consider the difference between “heaven” (mentioned often in the Bible) and the “new earth” - Isaiah 65:17 & 66:22; Hebrews 12:26-28; II Peter 3:12 & 13; Revelation 21:1-4.
When I find references to “heaven” in the Bible, I think of it as a reference to the atmosphere, the sky beyond the atmosphere or the place from which God sustains and rules the universe.
Abraham “sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” Hebrews 11:9 & 10
Jesus said, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:2 & 3
John wrote “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Revelation 21:1 & 2
If Jesus intends to take believers to heaven (the place from which God rules the universe), if the new Jerusalem is there now and if it will descend to Earth in the future, does that mean Earth will be the new heaven - i.e. the place from which, henceforth, God will rule the universe?
Some people try to put all of the symbols and events in the book of Revelation in order according to which they are found in that book.
For me, that method presents too many problems so I interpret the event of Revelation 20 verse 9 as occurring after the new Jerusalem descends to Earth. “And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”
Yes, Revelation 20 verse 10 does say, “ And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Does that mean that the redeemed will forever be able to look out over a burning lake of fire from their windows in the New Jerusalem? Maybe even throw rocks at the devil from the city walls?
Or is the language of Revelation 20 verse 10 intended as a reference to the same kind of “fire” that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha? “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” Jude 7 (Jude has only one chapter.)
If Sodom and Gomorrha aren’t burning today, it is possible to think of hell as an event rather than as a place.
      On the other hand:
A man convinced against his will
Is of the same opinion still.
