See you in August! Кино
I may be new to blender but I am so going to participate. Don't expect to get far but just the sheer awesomeness of partaking is good enough for me!
That's the attitude!
That's the way to learn. Never stop, keep creating!
Make sure to upload it on RUclips for your own channel, too. Many of us have been doing that. Good luck!
Alright, you are one of the greatest blender RUclips’s out rn, so I’ll join because the level of skill your community has is jaw dropping and I want to add to that foundation you have built for so many people.
Thanks for making this challenge, I missed Clint's challenges on his channel since I started using blender after that. I was waiting for someone to host a community challenge like this and I'm glad its you. Going to participate.
Same, I got way too ambitious for someone who hasn't used blender for too long. But this time, I'm def in and already got most of the composition in place, now for the fine details!
Welp, it's here now
Looks like an awesome contest! I can't wait to participate!
Your rules and submission guidelines are some of the clearest I have ever seen, so great job on that! 👍
This is a really great opportunity for all artists, to grow inside a big community 🥔👌
Great idea, thanks for putting this together! Really looking forward to seeing the final result. 🔥
Can you show us you making a render for the challenge as an example ?

Yeh
agreed I usually render in UE5 cause I am a noob
I'm a noob by definition but I am super excited. I'd love to join and be part of this
Finally I’ve been wanting to join a blender community challenge for so long now.
I've been collecting every upload I can find and putting into a playlist on my channel. Talk about awesome submissions! Great job everyone!
is he gonna make a video about the challenge?
@@zernus8383 As far as I know he'll make a huge montage video. My playlist is more of a sneak peek, kind of a place to see what has been submitted without having to search!
Let's gooooo I love those challanges!!
I am so hypeddd for this!
Sup BN, just caught this and am giving it a go, already have a theme in mind and have gotten most of the shot in place, now to work on all the gruesome details :) Thanks for the challenge bud, see you in Aug!
I can't believe literally no one is talking about how satisfying Nice tutorials voice softs.
Thanks, really helped
Definitely trying this!
To start, i will be deleting the cube and then adding another one back...
Can you create an interesting hastag for this contest so that we can post our progress in our channel with the hashtag?? that would really be fun...
awesome, ill give this a go
this is amazing
I will definentially be participating.
sent mine 😊 looking forward to see all the renders stitched together, im sure it'll look amazing. thank you for making this challenge Bad Normals. awesome idea as always!
I've started a playlist of all the submissions I could find on RUclips. Wow! Absolutely amazing work!
@@BeyondLimits3D thats an awesome playlist! feel free to share mine on my channel 😊
@@isxander So glad you liked it. I'll make sure your submission is on the list! I'll be starting a playlist for the Moving Meditations challenge next.
@@isxander It's Up!
@@BeyondLimits3D I just uploaded mine if you want to add it :)
Thank you for your reply!
Appreciate it buddy thanks
Can we make some details on the cube's surface? like small displacements.
Sure, you can add grass there, or some plants or make it out of a metal wire for example. Anything is allowed if it's clearly cube shaped and the shape isn't larger than the original cube I provided.
this will be my first art-challenge. i don't expect to win anything, except maybe a little more experience!
I'm so excited
The truth is that the unknown scares all of us, but we just have to practice so we can get well with the software.
I just recently started implemeting blender in my photoshop art so I'm not the level to compete in this yet. But I'm so excited to see what everyone comes up with!!!
I've put together a playlist of all the submissions that have been uploaded to RUclips so far. Enjoy!
This is good
This will be a redemption for the default cube, finally its time has come
just now seeing this but sure i'll give it a go
nice dude!
oh man, why am I seeing this now? can I make it in one week? hell yeah I can!
Definitely joining this challenge... even though I am a beginner...😁😁
lets go!
can you change the cube infront of the camera or should it stay grey to make a better transition?
You can absolutely change it, the loop was never imagined to be perfect and I will add some smoothing masks after receiving all submissions. Use a tree, a rock, people's shoes, etc...
Me and my Boyfriend have been working on this together as a collaboration. Its fun to start animating in blender!
As an Egyptian, watching the first 5 seconds made me laugh. 😂
WOah i might join
Honestly, I’m not even gonna compete for the prizes, I simply just want to be part of it. I missed out on Clint’s challenges simply since I didn’t have time. Nor was I at a level that I felt I would even compare to other 3D artists.
But I’ve now gotten to a point where I feel skilled enough to be part of these and I’m excited to be part of it
“ . . . things that have to stay the same are: The position of the cube. And also the scale . . . ” Is that the default position/scale of the Default Cube in a Blender 3.2.1 default (factory reset) startup file, or in the “submission template” provided in the “more info” link above (which has clearly been moved, rotated, and since it's geometry is named "Cube.001" isn't the Default Cube). Sorry if this has been answered, not finding it, and since I'm on the autism spectrum I often find ambiguous rule structures confusing.
I meant the cube in the template file. Yes it has been moved a bit you're right.
My first year of college is starting soon but and I haven't played with blender in a while let's hope I can participate and finish the render in time!
Count me in!
This is awesome but and Id love to participate but idt the timing is very wise as Clint's render challenge will also be starting any time soon.
thank you good sir
Mmmmm that tablet, v sweet. Fun challenge!! :)
I missed this 🥺
i started using blender like a month ago. im participating in this to see what ive learned in a month😂😂😂
here we go again
Why is the default cube… set to Shade Smooth… and have seams 😭😭 it’s not default!!!!!!!!
1Can I add texture to pillars?
2Can i add motion blur?
3Can i boost video to 60fps(not in blender) for smoothness!
I've just uploaded a video about the default cube and this opportunity pops right out on my homepage, I might give it a shot.
Good luck everybody 🤪
clint jones be like " am i joke to u buddy " lol
The first rule means the position of the cube must be same in the start and end only or you absolutely cannot touch the animation on the cube?
The cube has to be the same, this means that anything can happen inside it, glass cube and water waves for example, but the boundary cannot change so that everybody's work stays consistent.
@@BadNormals ok, i can't touch the cube itself, but i can do something inside or around it, 👍 thanks
@@BadNormals are you able to rotate the cube at all, ik the position and general shape should be the same. but what about the orientation?
@@DaCiken Same orientation too, don't change it
@@BadNormals alright thank you
TIP
You are allowed to use any material or effect on the cube but it has to remain a visible cube in shape.
Oh sheeet, I should have noticed sooner, well it's a challenge within a challenge...
I also really like softEX, it has a very nice effect to it
Can the cube bob up and down in a ocean per say?
I been learning blender in 2 week I will try to be part of this challenge don’t expect much from me
Lets place bets on how many minecraft themed videos will be submitted :p
i love you bro
Can we make a bumpy surface for the cube? Like the mother boxes in the Zack Snyder's Justice League.
let me guess your doing mother boxes from Zack Snyder's Justice League...
This is such a good idea! But the rules confuses me a little, I think that having two example animations of what can be done would help a lot (like what can be done with the cube and the object that covers the camera)
Yes, would be nice and helpful. What I got from the rules and explanation is that basically you can do everything with the cube, except change it's position, scale, rotation, size. So it can be just a frame, different material, covered with other objects, or filled with other objects, but to be still distinguishable.
Im also stuck in the rules. It is a bit confusing. If he could show some examples would be nice otherwise I think many would make alot of mistakes.
@@flamart9703 what about camera movements did you get any of that ? does it mean it also stays the same default ? if you understood please just enlighten me
@@helderlucau1629 Hi! Considering rules "The camera movement, angle and focal length." must stay the same. So don't change the camera or it's properties to be safe. In comments bellow I read that we can change depth of field to switch the focus from cube to other positions, though, but since the animation is very short, probably that will be useful for very specific cases. The cube (your version of the cube) must stay at same position, rotation and scale as well. If you watched the examples with walking humans/creatures from previous challenge included in the video, the idea of this challenge is the same - when they make the final video with all submissions, the position and animation movement to be same on all submissions. About the cube, it can be just frame, has missing side or parts, be another object with cube shape, be empty or filled with other objects inside, be covered with objects outside, have any material, but at the end when someone sees it to be able to say "that's a cube or this has the shape of a cube". It's a bit confusing, indeed, hope we won't be disqualified for cube abuse. :) I just read another new comment which confuses me even more - seems shacking the cube is allowed if the average position stays the same.
@@flamart9703 thanks
Sadly I missed the whole thing. I just find out only because youtube started to recommend videos about the challenge:D Same thing happened with the "walking figure" challenge.
Wow nice prices! Though i personally would prefer a small or medium tablet perhaps. Honestly i never tried a medium a big tablet. I already find my small Wacom Intuos getting in the way sometimes
your not winning so does not matter
Interesting contest, maybe I shall join.
The template, though... would've been nice to have the camera locked and unselectable by default and the cube to be exactly 0,0,0 in rotation and location for easier modeling. It might get messy to sort out all the entries if contenders haven't been very careful...
Good points, I'll keep those in mind in the future
This!
🔥
no i am not interested in this
* open blender right away *
i am excited to try this
I hope you didn't delete the cube after opening Blender...
🤣 according to our mind it is deleted
Does the shape of the default cube has to remain the same?
Check out the rules document, I have everything laid out there.
Ddaaang u should have asked Ian to participate as a judge haha
He will destroy us o.o
Hi! Thank you for this cool community challenge! I have a question: does the cube must be a cube whole time or it can "became" one to the end of loop?
i am beginner , but i will try my hard enough.
HaHaHaHaHaHa, that was funny as hell nice tuto. lol
Question: can we alter the look of the cube a little with displacement, or is that against the rules?
You can alter it, even place a tree on the cube or similar, it's all in the rules (link in descr.) :)
@@dustinnadler6916 Hey brother can we make it a character too ??
@@amaz1874 why not?
Can we change the side cube to like a tree or something like this
can i add another cube as a frame intersecting the cube or like a glass case?
yes
Just uploaded mine!!
Are we only allowed 1 submission?
I can't control it, but I'd recommend creating one really good
Joel Karr to be fair I learnt loads
Is it ok that the cover object(s) only cover the cube for the first start and end frames or does it has to be screen filling?
Effectively 80 frames of full view combined with 30fps don't give much wiggle room for anything fancy. :( But we will give it a try, gl all!
Only got 7 days to make this. Hope I can work something out. Great video ❤
Good luck! Hope you upload a submission.
Does the covering object have to be a cube?
Can the cube rotate at all? I know the rules say that the position should remain the same but I was wondering if that pertains to the rotation as well?
(Never mind, just found the answer further down the comments [edit])
Very keen for this by the way, looking forward to seeing what everyone creates
Question: Can I make an adaptive depth of field in the camera settings? So that it can shift from focusing on the transition object to focusing on the cube?
Yes
Отличный контент бро)
How’s it going?
I don’t even want to win I just want to make it in the video
Guarantee everyone's gonna create some space sht 😂
When submitting the animation, do we also have to submit the .blend file?
No, only the video.
can i put a lit bit of displacement on the cube?
Can we add Depth of Field?
Is it blender only? Can I use UE5 for example?
Can we have some examples? :)
Bro ima bout break my graphics card with the default cube
Does the camera movement have to be a orbit from left to right? can it be like a dolly camera or just a pan?
Can I slightly change the camera angle? Can I add small Displacements to the Cube?
can you use geometry nodes on the cube or will that be not allowed?
Hi, can we change the rotation of the Cube?
