He's BACK!!! Having suffered severe withdrawls (culminating in a near comatose state) I am thrilled to see Any MP video. From a GA, or EAA perspective I think every one of us would be totally on board with videos from your other endeavors. HOLY CRAP! Is that the first video of Chandra flying? That grin alone should sell a lot of flying lessons. So great to see you again. I would love to see another video where you and Suzy just sit down and talk about how the flying has been going. Mike, more videos? Absolutely. I came to your channel because of the Draco build but I soon became a huge fan of you personally and what you and your family does for us. You guys put a HUGE amount of time and effort into these videos so that we can come along. The only way to make it all better is to give us more. Ya, I am selfish. If it was up to me it would be less work and more play. Thanks again, Gary
I guess it is the first time footage of me flying has made it on Mike’s channel 😆. I post videos and pics on my Instagram chandrapatey. Good to hear from you.
We would love more videos on your other endeavors. Entrepreneurship and/or just how you manage to organize your life to create all of this awesomeness. That would be both useful and entertaining. IMHO.

Mike, I would love to see a "week in the life of" about yourself as well as a short series on what drives you, your work philosophies, your early failures and success and your current projects. I'm genuinely interested in how you can get so much done and stay motivated! I'm currently in my mid 20's and honestly feel burnt out so any advice you have could be life changing. Many thanks! 👍😄🇦🇺
If I'm giving the opportunity and someone wants an airplane ride, I'm more than happy to give them one free of charge. Ive given rides to quite a few young aviation enthusiasts, like my self, and it sure is a rewarding experience for both of us. I would absolutely like to see more of what goes on behind the scenes, so to speak, I really dont think you put out a video that I wouldnt want to watch!
Your honesty is refreshing ... at how many stores have we been asked for contributions and the business takes the credit for the donations ... as a good corporate citizen, of course, rarely mentioning where the money actually came from. The Pateys are leaders in so many ways.
Yes yes to the business side, not just science behind the water company, or what griplocks do, but comment on the business side - how business itself got going - the tech, the networking, the funding - that made a good business and therefore is able to fund your aviation passion 🙏
Yes to all the extra videos, water tech, videos of you flying your PC12, the Cirrus etc. You’re truly an inspiration so the more videos from you the better!
Yes! Yes! Yes! We'd love to see videos of all your business endeavors! We get so excited when you post a video because we know it is wholesome, clean content that is really educational and FUN! The work required to get all that going would be a huge task, but I know all of us would ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Thanks for all the videos you do now and hopefully expand to so much more in the future! Take care and God bless you, your team and family!
Mike, your attitude is such an inspiration that, yes, more of what a workday entails would be nice. I hope to see you at Wings and Wheels this year. I will be bringing my veteran wrapped Freightliner for a display.
Mike. The appeal of your videos are as much about you as they are the airplanes you build. I’ve told people that you are the most impressive human I have ever seen/met and I’d be willing to be I’m not the only one who feels that way. So, your offer on expanding the topics of these videos was great to hear because it’s exactly what I’ve hoped for. Your tech, your business advice, business aviation, philanthropy, search and rescue, you and Mark’s factory tours of other companies, maybe even parenting tips, all are fantastic options. You have so much to offer! Thank you! BTW!
Mike, I know you're a really busy guy, so I really appreciate the time it takes for you to put this content out. I really hope you keep it up. Your videos were a major contributing factor in my brother and I learning some things to start a business in composites in the watersports sector. You've also really got me interested GA, something I never really thought about before. I hope one day soon I can get my pilot's license, and eventually build my own aircraft like you. Thanks! Edit: It would be great to see the content of your business and process. Everything you do has been incredibly informative for me. It would be awesome to see the process of how you do your calculation when planning your airplanes, or if you have any recommendations of books or resources you used to learn the nitty gritty of it. It's something I'm very interested in.
As a mechanical engineer I would love to hear about the water tower and anything else you do for work. I think a video giving a background in yourself would be awesome
On behalf of all of us Mike and Mark, and family fans, we also must express our gratitude for your kindness in paying back to us. This means more than anything, and for that , we say "Thank You". I wish I could support you, but was affected as of late, with current situations in the world. I would gladly send people I know, your vlogs, and would like to see some of what you are doing in the waterworks!
I so much enjoy Mike's videos! I especially love the spirit portrayed in the intro played at the beginning of every video! My eyes almost tear up when he says "every time something new gets built, the entire world advances!" I have had TONS of ideas for new products to solve everyday problems in anything from household products, to landscape maintenance, and mowing equipment, and many more! I was very frustrated with having all these ideas, and no way to get them to market, having no money, or plans! And no clue how to solve the problem! The answer came one day while praying when I was mowing! I'm only bringing this up, because there has to be lots of other people here like me! If anyone was interested, just ask. Absolutely not getting paid to share this, but I just felt led to let anyone interested know.
@@bradycope2332 of course I'd love to get Mike's take on this topic! The program I found is a coaching program. The company is called Inventright. They have 600+ videos on their RUclips channel. Check em out! They don't get any of the money if your idea sells! They simply charge a one time fee for a 6 month program to teach you how to get your ideas to market! Again I'm not getting anything from them for sharing this. I am enrolled myself, and working on the first project now!
Did I see Mike at the FF? Garett drives like Mike flys....With enthusiasm, passion and SKILL. 19:20 You bet, as noted above it was great seeing you in someone else's domain with the same wonderful attitude and appreciation. Let's see more of what the offspring are doing...👍

The world needs more Mike Patey. As someone in the plumbing business, I would love to know more about your water treatment initiatives. Maybe we could do something to improve the water quality for our Native Americans / Canadians. Never miss an episode. Thanks for sharing Mike - you inspire all of us!!
WOW. I thought Draco was cool but coming from an aviation and dirt biking nut myself, Scrappy wins my award for the coolest plane ever imagined and built. Way to go Mike!!! Huge koodos for giving back to the community and offering the incredible experience of a first flight to those out there with their heads in the clouds.
Would you ever consider developing a “Best Backcountry Scooter”? Having the electric bikes certainly opens up a lot of opportunities flying to various locations but the weight and size of the bikes eliminate them as an option given the capability of most backcountry planes. Currently available options that can handle unimproved surfaces, we have found, either have a significant learning curve, not the easiest to ride and/or weigh too much. The lighter weight options can’t handle unimproved surfaces. Put us down for two if you ever do. Very much enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Montage full size folding mountain bike, first. Then go to Luna Cycle for a BBSHD conversion kit. It will weigh about 50 pounds, depending on how big a battery, and ride like a full sized bike.
HAS ANYONE TOLD YOU BEFORE THAT YOU'RE REALLY A "MAD SCIENTIST " OR THE HOWARD HUGHES OF THIS CENTURY! #!??? GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK, KEEP ON MAKING VIDEO'S, LOVE YOUR STUFF! CFIAM/A&P JOE COVINO, Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Mike, since you employ so much technology in your builds, I would be willing to bet that this is not by accident. Would love to see what technology you employ in you manufacturing business and the products you produce. Was at the local airport a couple of weeks ago and saw one of your tugs in action. So go for it, I believe that you are not only gifted but a real inspiration. Show us what else you do. Thanks!
Awsome idea, I'll never forget my first "demo" flight in the mid eighties, the start of a life long love of all things that fly! And Great video btw. Thankyou.
Great mission, paying for intro flights. I like Scrappy's wing. The plane reminds me of Spirit of St Louis, Lindberg's flying gas tank. I vote for more videos showing some of the Scrappy build details, and "in flight" views of the Garmin panels and anything with the plane being used.
Have you ever thought of using the fancy equipment you have access to and making Afford-a-plane ultralight kits? Or maybe making an Afford-a-plane out of carbon fiber using the lost foam method?
Would be great for those that have lost a medical, but you can’t get too fancy or do much more than the essentials when 250 pounds is the max weight. (Hoping Mike says “challenge: accepted”)
I have enjoyed watching all the moments in the build of scrappy. Some of the things that would be great are. The final stages of the build that we missed out on. The flying around the country you do for work. Maybe a shop tour of your water filtration and the other things that pay for the toys. Anyway back to work..
I would buy a shirt that portrays Scrappy silhouetted flying over a person riding an electric bike with a caption that reads: "Let's get in some FUN!"✊🏼
Man this content is awesome. There's nobody on the internet doing it like you guys. We NEED more big country plane and dirt bike videos. Absolutely insane
I have often wondered what could a guy that’s so into the exciting world of aviation get from the water works world. If it keeps your interest I would love to see it. Thanks for sharing Mike.
I personally would like to know how Mike started with the love of aircraft design , it must be very involved work.. I mean how long does it take to get from being a simple auto macanic to the point where I would be able to build a home built aircraft myself,. Did it cost alot of money?? I'm not getting any younger but have always wanted to design and build new ideas which drive me crazy . I remember Bert Rutane .. sorry about the spelling . Bert and my father have installed this love of aircraft design in me since I was a child , Now Mike you have awoken this love. Can you please tell us even a small segment of what inspired you to become an aircraft design genius 🙄 and have I got time now I'm older to persue my passion??? Or have I left it to late ??? I'm forty plus years old and I have this passion , Am I to late Mike ???????? Love what you do , envious of your success too , 🥺. But I realize this doesn't just happen overnight... You worked bloody hard to get were you are.. I look up to you Mike.. your inspiring thousands of young And OLD , I'd love to see a special video about you!!!! And a bit of a life journey.. I mean I love the intro to your channel.... It's inspired me every time I see it .. but I want to see and know more.. mainly because I know I shear this love of design and engineering with you but I'm afraid I have left it to late Mike ☹️
@robert Most of the kit plane builders out there are past retirement age, that’s how they have time to build a plane, so if you’re in your forties, you’re still a “youngster”.
I'm used to Autocad and have tried SolidWorks. I'm 70 and learned on a drafting board so Autocad is more my style. Go to a college and get a bit of training. The programs are dirt cheap.
Hell yes I wanna know more about what you’re doing and all of those categories, I am a glutton for education and stuff that I don’t know so absolutely share away my friend… You’re so well respected by so many of us and your ventures are just unbelievable which means your every day life has to be completely amazing and have to do with the coolest most innovative things ever… You and your family are completely amazing and we thank you for being here to share everything that there is with us… 😉👍❤️
Now that Mike and Mark have done just about everything in aviation with ICE power (internal combustion engine), the next challenge for Mike and Mark will be in e-aviation; electric aircraft engines. Think of it: Mike builds a eSTOL airplane where the engine is silent, and the only sound is the wind turbulence from the propeller spin around at high speed. No gas, no fuel mixture, no fumes, no oil, no manifold pressure, and little to no electric motor maintenance. Talk about lowering the cost of flying! I challenge you, Mike, to build a STOL craft using an electric aircraft motor!
They could do it now, but the aircraft would only be good for about 2 to 3 trips around the pattern before needing to be recharged. We are a long, long way off from the battery Tech that's going to be needed before it even comes close to feasible. Not in my or your lifetime. (I'm talking commercial, with any paid passengers) They already make a all electric 2 seater in the Czech Republic for $179K American, but you can only fly it for 20 minutes, not very practical. A whole new type of Tech is going to need to be discovered/invented before we even come close to this!
@@scotabot7826 I beg to differ on the timeline of EV aircraft feasibility. Not sure which model you refer to but the Pipestrel Alpha Electro has endurance of "up to 60 minutes (plus reserve)" from their website. Harbour Air up in Alaska is already working to certify their electric converted DHC-2 Beavers. A lot of missions including training can be accomplished with an hour of flight time.
I'm considering building either a Bearhawk 4 place , Wag-Aero Sportsman 2 + 2, Glasair Sportsman 2 + 2, or Rans S-21 with an electric powerplant in the next few years. Looking at Emrax motors currently.
What a hoot Scrappy is! The same can be said for any of the airplanes you've built, with different reasons for each. Learning some of the background about how you generate the resources to pursue your avocational interests would be great. Not just a description of the businesses you've started and made successful, but info on the background you have that enables you to successfully pursue so many divergent business lines. What's your education? What electives outside of your primary degree helped shape your skillsets? What life experiences and learning outside of a formal educational system helped build your confidence and shape your worldview. How you used your skills and interests before aviation came into your life. Any and all of that would be interesting, especially if it was seasoned with a tie-in to some of the fun stuff it helped you create. Like it or not, you've become a roll model for many aspiring youngsters coming up behind you. My son is terrified of flying, so I've failed miserably in my quest to pass the torch (the airlines did it to him, not me). Hopefully, you can pass multiple torches to make up for the opportunities lost by pilots like myself.
Absolutely 100% would love to see more. I know what it takes to do each video, so the offer is incredibly generous and appreciated. Basically, it the Patey's are involved, we'd love to see more about it :)
I'd love to see your behind-the-scenes videos on all your businesses - you're into some interesting stuff! A while back I was on your website reading about the system you came up with to clean industrial wastewater. To me this was absolutely mind-blowing! Just the fact that you manage all of your business dealings in and of itself to me is mind blowing! I have a hard enough time fixing cars and small engines for myself, making sure I have enough stuff to do it right, and still have enough cash left to eat later, lol. Sounds like this would not only be super interesting to everyone, but could also maybe spark some ideas for people to break ground on their own ventures. I've got Grip Lock Ties holding parts of my old plow truck together, and plastic parts away from hot stuff, so I'd love to see the equipment used to make these ingenious items. Great vid as always, Mike! Looked like so much fun! You've built the worlds first sport utility aircraft! THE SUA! 😎 Can't wait to see what a pair of turbos do to that power curve!!🤩
Yes, I would love to see regular videos from you showing all aspects of your businesses, your travels, or anything else you think is interesting, including your recent trip to Florida and the Freedom Factory!

He is now in school to become a AP. I myself am about to start flight training later this spring. And purchasing my first aircraft by years end. Just wanted to say thanks. Now, Get back to work!😄

You are a fantastic person to give back the aviation world where you do. I love watching your videos and Trent Palmers that's how I ended up getting hooked up with your videos. I am not an instructor but I do give a lot of first rides to people I love to look in their eyes and the smiles on their face when I give them the controls of the airplane and let them fly it. God bless you!
As a Pilot, retired 3D CAD Detailer, Trials Motorcycle rider for 37 years, and now have finished my Solar/Lithium build in my 4x4 VW Vanagon Syncro Westfalia, Scrappy is what I've always dreamed about. And definitely! I would love to see some of what else you do. And thanks for what you have shared with us. You have no idea how much your videos have lifted my spirits. I would also love to have a Scrappy Model for X-Plane 11 after you have made the proposed Turbo and CS Propeller changes.
Once you get the new prop done and turbo fitted, you should do a video just going over all the features and aspects of Scrappy. It could be like a promotional video that can be shared to show some of the amazing aspects and all the hard work that went into building this amazing plane. And when you go to Oshkosh you can setup an AV booth playing the video and run it off the wing electrical system. I know it would be kind of a flex, but honestly Scrappy has pushed the capabilities of what a bush plane can be. It would be nice to have a video that incorporates all that you have done in one place. Now back to work.
Mike, you’re constantly pushing the field of aviation, design, science, technology, curiosity, ingenuity, engineering, pragmatism and the sense of adventure!
Mike, Definitely wanna see more of what you do day-to-day, you come off as genuinely wanting to share your passions with the viewers (while, IMO, remaining humble) It seems like you do everything full throttle, so I gotta imagine your water projects, behind-the-scenes, etc. would be very interesting and informative 🤠🤠

If it was up to me it would be less work and more play.
Thanks again,
Gary
I guess it is the first time footage of me flying has made it on Mike’s channel 😆. I post videos and pics on my Instagram chandrapatey. Good to hear from you.
We would love more videos on your other endeavors. Entrepreneurship and/or just how you manage to organize your life to create all of this awesomeness. That would be both useful and entertaining. IMHO.
I guess I can speak for 99% of viewers when I say:
WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE WHAT YOU SPEND YOUR TIME WITH ON A DAILY BASIS! 👍❤️🛩️
Yes!
Absolutely!
I triple this !!!
For sure!!!
👍
Yes, please post about all your companies. You and your brother share brilliance in engineering is just amazing.
Love to see more about your businesses and products. Especially the water technology. Thanks and enjoy your videos so much.
I would love to see videos on your various businesses maybe do a couple videos on each one to show what they do. I would also love to see you complete the constant speed prop.
YES PLEASE - all the videos you can upload I will watch!!! That new content would be amazing. Also please more videos of scrappy flying (inside); landing, taking off, or just cruising around!
Yes, I want to know how you get these businesses started etc. I mean the first step to learning to fly is getting rich…😂
Yes to all the extra videos, water tech, videos of you flying your PC12, the Cirrus etc. You’re truly an inspiration so the more videos from you the better!
My answer......"YES" to all of it. Want to see every topic you mentioned. All so interesting! Back to Work!
Yes! Yes!
Yes, it's been a long time! So happy when the notification popped up! Love your videos Mike! 😊✌️
YES to more MP videos about your other projects, work, travel, we’d love to see it!
Would definitely love to see some "Day in the life of Mike Patey" videos showcasing what you do besides the aircraft building
Your brilliance is only exceeded by your generousity. The world needs more Mike Pateys.
Thank you! BTW!
I, absolutely, would enjoy seeing some behind the scenes of what you do on a ‘typical’ day!
Mike, your griplock tires have become an integral part of the USAF C-130J block 8 upgrade process! Such a time saver laying in new wire harnesses
I would love to see a real time cross country in “Turbulence”. Myself I would find it interesting to see how fast things happen.
As a mechanical engineer I would love to hear about the water tower and anything else you do for work. I think a video giving a background in yourself would be awesome
Same here, I nerd out on any technology that I’m not overly familiar with.
I’m with you. What’s the answer?
@@bradycope2332 of course I'd love to get Mike's take on this topic! The program I found is a coaching program. The company is called Inventright. They have 600+ videos on their RUclips channel. Check em out!
They don't get any of the money if your idea sells! They simply charge a one time fee for a 6 month program to teach you how to get your ideas to market! Again I'm not getting anything from them for sharing this. I am enrolled myself, and working on the first project now!
show us more! your passion and enthusiasm is contagious and we all want to see what you do when you are not working.
Mike you are the most kind hearted fellow. Thank you for all that you do to better aviation and being such a GREAT guy!! Great video!!
Thank you kindly 🤠
@@MikePatey Yes sir my brother! Looking forward to shaking your hand one day and show you my Grandaddys J-3. 😁👌🏼
Good to see you taking a moment to enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Yes please show as much as you can about your everyday work life! Your work ethic and success is very inspiring 👍
What an offer. I would really enjoy learning more about you and your company, companies, your family.
You and your brother are very successful, heaven knows who you might inspire to go on and do something they learn from that’s about you and how you got there.
Your videos are very exciting and enjoyable to watch.
From Missouri
I’d love to see more videos about all the stuff you do. Constant speed prop’d twin turbo scrappy sounds crazy cool. Every time I see one of your videos it gets me excited for just about everything. Your excitement and positivity is infectious. Thank You!
Yes would be interested on the water tech. What it is and the history of how you came up with it. Also anything you do because whatever it is it will be interesting.Thank you for your videos.
I would love to get Mike 100% because I don't think you do any dull thing. There will always bee something to learn!!
The world needs more Mike Patey. As someone in the plumbing business, I would love to know more about your water treatment initiatives. Maybe we could do something to improve the water quality for our Native Americans / Canadians. Never miss an episode. Thanks for sharing Mike - you inspire all of us!!
Yes! the water here on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation is called Snake water.
My point exactly. Two bikes as you mention will be at the 100 pound baggage limit, or very close with not enough weight for gear.
@@portnuefflyer .. thank you for the lead on the bike.
I love seeing scrappy flying over. I would love to see it up close sometime.
Yes, "the Howard Hughes of this century" is a great way to describe Mike.
Seeing more of what you do would be so cool. Thank you for taking the time to share so much of your life already.
My wife likes to make fun of me when I do a huge fist pump, and she says let me guess MIKE made a new video! Back to work!!!💪
I have enjoyed watching all the moments in the build of scrappy. Some of the things that would be great are.
The final stages of the build that we missed out on.
The flying around the country you do for work.
Maybe a shop tour of your water filtration and the other things that pay for the toys.
Anyway back to work..
I would buy a shirt that portrays Scrappy silhouetted flying over a person riding an electric bike with a caption that reads:
"Let's get in some FUN!"✊🏼
Yes!!
“Back to Play!”
Man this content is awesome. There's nobody on the internet doing it like you guys. We NEED more big country plane and dirt bike videos. Absolutely insane
I can't imagine many of your viewers wouldn't want to see content about anything you are working on.
Thanks for the support!
Any thing to watch you are involved doing in your daily is interesting
I have often wondered what could a guy that’s so into the exciting world of aviation get from the water works world. If it keeps your interest I would love to see it.
Thanks for sharing Mike.
More power to you Mike, what a fantastic program :) , yes definitely would love to see more videos of what you do/travel/business/tech etc
Go and do it, Robert. Age has nothing to do with it. If it wasn't for my eyes, I'd be building a kit plane now. I'm 82.
@robert Most of the kit plane builders out there are past retirement age, that’s how they have time to build a plane, so if you’re in your forties, you’re still a “youngster”.
If you have an aptitude for design, don’t bury it friend! Go get ‘em!!
I'm used to Autocad and have tried SolidWorks. I'm 70 and learned on a drafting board so Autocad is more my style. Go to a college and get a bit of training. The programs are dirt cheap.
Hell yes I wanna know more about what you’re doing and all of those categories, I am a glutton for education and stuff that I don’t know so absolutely share away my friend…
You’re so well respected by so many of us and your ventures are just unbelievable which means your every day life has to be completely amazing and have to do with the coolest most innovative things ever…
You and your family are completely amazing and we thank you for being here to share everything that there is with us…
😉👍❤️
Now that's a hauler . Well done Mr Mike . Bet you could design the optimal Agriculture application aircraft /Crop Dusting.
You can still hear an e-plane prop cavitate the airflow. Look up the Rolls Royce 'Spirit of Innovation' from last year. It's LOUD.
MIKE YOU FILM IT, WE ALL WELL WATCH IT... GREAT VIDEO...TELL RON AND EVERYBODY HELLO...
Yet another fantastic video of flying and the things you do. The scenery in that part of the world is spectacular. Thank you for sharing, Mike.
You Sir are a amazing human! Thank you so much for all you share. I cannot think of anyone that is more inspirational. When my son was 16 I bought him his first flight for Christmas. He is now in school to become a AP. I myself am about to start flight training later this spring. And purchasing my first aircraft by years end. Just wanted to say thanks. Now, Get back to work!😄
The Patey’s are one class act family! Really love you folks❤️ Mike, whatever you want to show us I am sure it will be fantastic so keep doing what you want to do!
I just love every single thing you do. I'll watch anything presented from you.
The day draco crashed was a sad one for us all, i loved draco, but i am so happy to see scrappy finally flying around and i love what you have done with it.
Mike please share your life pursuits with us. I find your creative spark runs thru everything you do.
More is undoubtedly better! Always inspirational and of course informative, other aspects will be too.
I could listen to you talk all day long, your videos are so awesome! Id love seeing more into your daily life!!
You are truly amazing. It is so gratifying to see you foster flying this way.
I would absolutely like to see your other projects! What an inspiration you are!
Scrappy looks freaking awesome!!!! Amazing idea with helping people get in the air and kickstart their love for aviation!!!
Mike, you’re constantly pushing the field of aviation, design, science, technology, curiosity, ingenuity, engineering, pragmatism and the sense of adventure!
Mike,
Definitely wanna see more of what you do day-to-day, you come off as genuinely wanting to share your passions with the viewers (while, IMO, remaining humble) It seems like you do everything full throttle, so I gotta imagine your water projects, behind-the-scenes, etc. would be very interesting and informative 🤠🤠
