Great recap but I disagree about the point that Daemon's vision of seeing young Rhaenyra sewing back the head of young Jaehaerys is a confirmation that he ordered the death of ANYONE of the Hightower children. It was more a confirmation of his guilt at causing the murder of Jaehaery's accidentally since he unleashed blood and cheese to kill Aemond by giving out the ill-thought-out direction of "a son for a son" which was misconstrued by the assassins as "a son for ANY Hightower son".

I agree. The show runners do leave it a bit ambiguous as to what Daemon said but what so many viewers seemed to have missed in ep2 is Larys' role in Blood and Cheese. He quietly walks into the small council meeting and the camera pulls back from Otto and the other talking and focuses totally on Larys front and centre in the doorway. The royal apartments devoid of any guards at all and Larys finding Blood so quickly at the farthest away from the Red Keep and most heavily guarded gate in Kings Landing? Eh? That was clearly a lie. The Mud gate is the least guarded gate as it is on the Blackwater and it is the closest to the keep. Larys is now sucking up to Aegon. Larys is one of the rats that we see everywhere.

Why didn’t Rhaenys mention the people she killed in the dragon pit as part of the fuel for this conflict?

Because the Small Folk end up expendable, especially in War. I diagree that Meleys breaking through the ground was part of the fuel for the conflict tho. Rhaenys spared the Greens when she could of killed them and they had her imprisoned in the Red Keep. Plus Rhaenys isnt fighting for the Crown where as Aegon and Rhaenyra is.

Slim Charles told us “If it’s a lie, we fight on that lie”. Makes no difference Alicent found out the true meaning of the king’s last words.

When Helena said I forgive you, I thought she meant from their relationship since she was always pulling away from Alicent and forgave her for her mistakes as a mother

In the scene at Harrenhall when Lord Strong asks Daemon "What's next" after raising the army at the Riverlands then responds with surprise when the only response is "We take King's Landing," I didn't take that as Strong being obtuse. To me, it sounded like disgust at the bourgeois aristocracy still thinking only of themselves and having no other plan for the realm than taking back, by force and at great expense to the small folk, the seat of power so they could continue doing exactly what the other guy on the throne is already doing now. It sounded to me like "Really, that's your WHOLE plan, like nothing of substance or contribution to anyone whatsoever? Why even support you?"
And when Rhaena is sent off with the little guys and the baby dragons and the dragon eggs, it seems like it finally sinks in for her how important her role in this war really is and what she is being trusted to do.
Is anyone else irritated AF about the missed opportunity in the sept when Rhaenyra elects NOT to explain the whole prophecy to Alicent, which might THEN make a difference in stopping this war? No, she only listens for what matters to her and leaves Alicent in the dark, which results in Alicent doubling down on her current position. Rhaenyra had all the power in this situation to form an alliance by explaining the full story on why something greater and existential at stake and she refuses, now disaster is inevitable. To me, that moment is the point of no return in this whole story.
For the record, I'm still not on either side. They all brought this stupid war on themselves, Rhaenyra included, and it's not like one aristocrat over another makes any difference at all for all the civilians stuck living under these stupid monarchies. I'm just here to root for the dragons.

Alicent knows the mistake she made, she always knew, Viserys never changed his mind. Alicent told herself what she had to ,heard what she wanted so she coukd go on believing she is pious and good. She isn't of course she just holds others to standards she herself cannot keep. The sad part is she couldn't do anything about it anyway it will just eat away at her.

Alicent has no power in her court. It was foolish to think there was any value in speaking with her.. unsurprisingly the idiotic Kings Landing meet was not in the book. Also rhaenyra is definitely not wise and patient in the book, the whole "men are hotheads who want to shed blood" the TV show pushes is a bit heavyhanded
