I am loving Steve's advice. I feel so much better about being single. I am 43 and I am proud that I have not ruined my life with the wrong man. A lot of us our single because we are smart. I am in Los Angles and I don't feel the relationship choices here are good.
Exactly, i am also proudly legally single. Never been married. I see so many women marrying men, who are not up to my standards. I am a quality woman. I deserve a quality man. Quality men and women we are a rare breed. It will take time for us to find each other.

Tarik Tesera quality is very subjective to me. For instance, a nice BMW with all the bells and whistles is quality to most people but when something goes wrong with the electronics that car no longer had A.C. or Radio. To me quality is a 1991 GMC something that lasts and can be repaired by me on the side of the road if need be.

zeriul09 Men and women are like magnets. It's possible to force them together given enough pressure, but eventually, they will seek their natural state and separate. Best to put our energies into something more productive in my opinion.
+Linda Casey I disagree, long term relationships can work, the problem comes in with irresponsibility from either one or both sides and that is what shines from your comment too. As is said very often, communication is key, it enables you to understand the other person, it enables you to work on your relationship. My grandmother for example(sadly my grandfather passed away in his 80's) was married to my grandfather for 56 years and at the end of his ride they were still happy together. I asked her how they did it and she said 'two things are most important, trust and hard work. And that is what I see in this society, they are all a bunch of quitters(3/4 of the marriages now end within a period of 15 years), at the first sign of an actual problem with one of the partners or "the lack of love/romance" the other will take off 'oh it doesn't work between us anymore we should break up', no you should be there to help each other, you should be there working together, you should do everything in your power to make the other happy. I agree that if it is a one way street, first talk about it, if that doesn't work, break the fuck up. The thing is, that all can be done without marriage, but most women don't seem to realize that and don't even seem to realize that a man actually might want a long ass relationship but that they have to work for it too. It all comes from the dating perspective, if a man has won a woman's heart, he will not want to let go, he worked for it. While on the other hand women seem to not stick around for too long(78% of the divorces are filed by women). So yes indeed +zeriul09 is right, men aren't being listened to, men seem to be the ones more committed but ignored. I see men and women like magnets too, only they take many different shapes with a lot of different places for a pole, once you bring two with the same shape together you need to start polarizing both on the right places in order for them to be willing to stick together, once this has been achieved, the magnets will be near inseparable, the relationship will be the best and longest you will ever have.
+Poly Liker Of course all this is true in 'theory' .. it's getting the two poles to connect in 'practice' that is the issue. I too know of couples who have managed to keep the magnets forced together for a lifetime, but it is an exhaustive effort, particularly when children enter the picture. Too often the male becomes one of those children instead of a full fledged partner so the woman loses her patience with him and figures if she's going to be alone within the marriage, she might as well be alone without the extra baggage of a man to take care of too. Then, of course, the wrath of a woman scorned gets heaped upon the unsuspecting ex and the War of the Roses becomes their movie. You're right. It does take maturity and commitment from BOTH parties to make any partnership work. Instead of making divorce so easy, there should be a law making marriage and conceiving children illegal without having first gone through the rigors of premarital counseling from those who have actually lived through it successfully. Maybe that way people would work harder at achieving such a privilege. In the meanwhile, women will continue to believe in their fairytales and men will continue to pretend to believe in them too simply to keep the piece ... I mean, peace. Cheers

My wife of 40 years was NOT a feminazi, a feminist, or any other form of female superiority nut. She was a woman, liked being a woman, was perfectly happy to do what she was supposed to, accepted the bad with the good and had a good life because of it. It may not have been perfect, but in the end is was better than what it could have devolved into had she tried for perfection.

I think it was a really bad idea to interview both of these people at the same time! I have not read his book, so I can't comment on it. Hers (Tracey McMilan) whether I want to be in a traditional marriage or just a healthy committed relationship, is really helpful in my opinion.
