- Custom Color Palettes: shop.thepaintp... On this episode of color code, we're looking at Sherwin Williams Agreeable gray, one of our favorite Sherwin Williams paint colors to recommend to anyone looking for a versatile gray paint color. Agreeable Gray is more of a greige, in fact, we'd go as far to say that it may be one of the easiest greiges to recommend!

Thank you! I binge watched your videos when I was choosing color. For my son living area I chose agreeable gray with an accent two colors down on the color chart. My cabinets were already painted “cotton” and though there’s not slot of contrast it is very satisfying to me.
I chose "agreeable gray" in 2017 as my main wall color in my home. I chose "snowbound" as my trim color. I have found that with this combination, I can basically choose any other color for the different rooms and it works! I can't say enough about how much I love "agreeable gray".
That's great to hear, those are the two colors I'm planning on using in my modern Craftsman bungalow! 😊
We selected agreeable gray a couple years ago for about all of our main floor-living space with 1 accent wall a darker gray. When picking out paint colors with our new home builder, I saw it and jokingly said to the wife that I found a color we could agree on. She loved it lol.
I have this color over all my walls... minus the laundry room and bathrooms. I love it. I wanted one color over the house that wasn’t stark white. I was debating between this color and Swiss Coffee and I opted for Agreeable Gray. I am so happy with this color.
What colors did you pick for your bathrooms and laundry room?
My favorite color ever, my son painted his entire Lake Home this color.
My home is painted this color...I love it!!
Best help I got ever!! Now I can make up my mind for my new 1997 built home. I was so confused if I wanted gray or beige. Well agreeable grey is my color of choice with the oak cabinets in my kitchen and the brown furniture for my den. Thank you for this oh so awesome tip 😀
We painted our entire house agreeable gray (minus the kids rooms). We absolutely LOVE it. Our last home that we just sold was a cooler gray and it felt elegant but unwelcoming. Agreeable Gray just feels so welcoming and comfy and it matches all the different decor throughout our house
We have this in our bedroom and love it!
We have SW sea salt throughout our house and it’s our fav!!!
You’ve made life so much easier! Thank you❤️
Moving to my new house and couldn’t decide on colour until I came across this video. Colour decided and now have to decide on colour flooring. Any ideas would be welcome. 🙏🏿
I decided to go with Behr's version Toasty gray. I still have oak cabinets and laminate in my kitchen, so really needed that warm undertone! So far I am really happy. I went from a dark green, so the kitchen feels insanely bright now. haha
Thanks for another great video! We just painted the kitchen and DR AG in January, with BM Super White trim. AG is definitely cooler than SW Modern Gray, which appeared more beige to us. BM Edgecomb Gray was too beige, did not seem gray at all. It was very similar, but warmer, than SW Modern Gray. After planning to use Edgecomb, we didn't like how beige it looked when the painting started. AG was the perfect choice, very neutral, never too cold.
My whole home is this color, with a white trim. I love it 😻
Just painted an accent wall in our bedroom Urbane Bronze!! Love Love Love this color!! I am mostly neutral with subtle pops of color, but, this added a beautiful darker soft warm color.
I love light colors. Makes a room appear bigger which Is always a plus
I just did my living room in Agreeable Grey with Alabaster trim...now I think I want to do my bedroom, my daughters room and rec room that colour! I love it a lot!
Do you remember what color you went for on the ceiling?
I have the same wall and trim color as you
Just white ceiling paint lol. I think it was Behr.
I like agreeable gray, I have it in a couple bedrooms. But my house doesn't get a ton of natural light (a lot of trees), so I find it still looks too cold, and I lean towards warmer colors. But it can look great and is very versatile.
A much warmer grey is worldly gray by Sherman Williams Get a color swatch . Agreeable grey is definitely on the cooler side .
My new build is Agreeable Gray. I’m looking to add some color to my home, and I’m actually coming around to appreciating AG more and more.
Hi James. Could you do a vedio on exterior paint combo other than white shades please..
Glad to see this video. I need to paint my stairwell and connecting hall. Selecting a color for this low lighting area with dark wood trim in bottom hall and staircase with oak trim upstairs is a nightmare! Only one window in upper hall for natural light. Maybe this will work. Can't afford a mistake with cost of painting. Will try sample. Thank you for this info!
My walls are painted in this color. It’s nice but I would like a slightly darker gray because it almost looks white to me.
You can have it darkened by 5 or 10%. I had AG lightened by 10%.
Please consider a video with suggestions for a main color in a north facing, low light home.
All colors are wonderful unless you have a north facing room. For light colors, neutral with a slight warm green undertone seems to do well. Sometimes taupe. The downside is you still have to choose wisely. I noticed that anything that has both black and white in the mix will look gray, and for you and I that often means blue or blah. I agree, we need more information for north facing rooms.
The colors being reflected from outside I'll also count in choosing paint. I have lots of greenery, and a big khaki colored cement wall.
hoping to use this as a color for the exterior of the house. Our house is an old peach colored brick, time for an update!! I've got some painted on the bricks and I love it already!
I bought a home completely done in Aggreeable Gray, including the ceilings. I do have white crown moldings but it really feels like a perpetual cloudy day inside. It's depressing. Could I paint the ceilings a white with blue undertones? My floors and cabinets are dark.
Not sure why this video was recommended to me...funny enough...I used to rent this apartment, then a couple of years ago, my wife and I bought a house and were trying to decide on the interior color...couldn’t agree on anything other than we used to really like the color of the apartment we had just moved out of...I call their office and asked for the color scheme...their maintenance guy calls me back and what do ya know!! It was frigging agreeable gray...we painted the whole house agreeable gray...baby room and all.
Do me a fave and talk to us about passive or reflection. They are my top to reccomendations when a client speaks the word grey, and then I narrow down specifics from there if not by default sticking with one of the 2. I do agree, pun intended, that agreeable grey is one of the safest color best to match with anything anywhere.
We painted our house Agreeable Gray in 2017 and didn't like it from the start. Our house has a lot of Northern Exposure and AG looked blue on our walls. I assume a house with lots of natural lighting and Southern Exposure would help AG look much better.
We chose Sherwin's "Accessible Beige" for our new construction over "Agreeable Gray." The reason was that the beige would go with more of our existing furniture color tones than the Gray would. Otherwise, both are great colors for the 2020's!
I'm leaning towards mindful gray. I would love to see a video on this in the future
As a painter this a MASSIVE grey choice made by clients- an excellent choice for home sale
I have this in my house and it is gorgeous.
I chose Heritage Gray by Valspar only to find that the LRV value, RGB value, and HEX code is the EXACT same as Agreeable Gray. Literally, they are the same color! :)
Great video, i have a sample from agreeable gray that i ordered off samplize along with BM pale oak, accessible beige and canvas tan, i have a north facing living room with pinky beige tile that has some taupe and cream in in and its hard to choose a good light gray that doesn’t have green as i read it will make the pink in the tile stand out more, out of the 4 samples agreeable grey is the one i like more but for decor im not sure if blue(like navy, indigo) or maybe aegean green for pillows would look good with it
Agreeable Gray is what we used to to paint several rooms in our house. Our living room is Shoji white which goes beautifully with it. I’m going to repaint my hallway and front entryway as I want something different. With Led lighting it does seem to have have a tiny bit of purple undertones in those dark rooms (which I don’t like.) in a natural well lighted room Agreeable Gray is really pretty.
James, I know that house with the fireplace that you used as an example of Agreeable Gray in your video. That house belongs to Tuxedo Farmhouse and is actually Anew Gray, NOT Agreeable Gray.
I thought that color looked darker.
Could you do a video on neutral whites that would go well with gray furniture and darker, grayish-brown floors?
Our entire house is painted with Agreeable gray, with a swiss coffee trim accent. The two colors create a pop and contrast thats not in your face. Good thing about this color is it goes with all of our decor. If i had to do it all over again, still would go with this color on my walls.
Agreeable Grey is a beautiful balanced greige. However, Urbane Bronze is pure, stunning drama!
seems all the pics have white trim. I live on rural property and my white trim shows the dust/ dirt/ smudges way too much! I want simple pine trim to add to the farm-ish feel, but I think unless I add a grey-ing wash to the trim, l will need a warmer wall color. Thoughts?
I don't have amazing decor but I have amazing colors on my walls!!
I’ve never painted with anything but Sherwin Williams ♥️ I’ve just moved to Agreeable Grey as well as Dorian Grey.
I’d like to have this on my trim and board and batten wall in living room. What is a good White paint to compliment this color?
When I went to put my house on the market a couple years ago, my Agent and her decorator came in and said, oh dear you should paint the interior. The decorator said "SW 7029 Agreeable Gray" on all the walls. I will admit it looked great, and the first person to look at it on that the first the house listed gave my asking price.
Which paint can do you prefer in agreeable Gray? Cashmere, Emerald, Duration or Superpaint. I went to my nearest Sherwin Williams and was confused couldn't decide which one to get for the inside of my house.
Just an FYI: the color you show starting at 1:18 is ANEW gray not Agreeable gray :)
Also, THANK YOU for the shout out to alabaster. It's such a gorgeous trim color!
Do you like SW simple white for the whole house with accent colors?
I am so laughing out loud as I just redid my home with agreeable grey and picked these colors out last year and changed ceilings to alabaster! I am loving this color however in my north facing room the color does feel more cool with a cooler blue undertone and not the warm greige that other parts of my home feel. I do love this color though!
Looking for a whole house. My trim and doors are Dover White with dark blue gray leather furniture. Does agreeable gray finish Dover White trim?
Would agreeable gray go well with hickory flooring?
I'm SO over gray and I look at agreeable gray as very gray and not nearly greige enough. Admittedly you did say it was a super neutral, but all I see is gray in most of these photos.
Why when I got a sample of Agreeable Gray from SW, it was only in Satin? Do they make eggshell?
Would agreeable grey work in a basement with little natural light?
My experience with this color was that the first Sherwin Williams store agreeable gray mix looked blue on my walls. So I want to another store and the agreeable gray that they mixed was just the right color. Is this a common problem?
Agreeable gray was too beige in my bathroom. It looked brown. I hated it. So we changed to crushed ice. Every picture I see though I really like it but it does not work in my bathroom. Weird.
What are your thoughts on agreeable gray as a trim color and greek villa walls?
Our builder uses this color throughout the house. We changed it to a true light grey. Now it's beautiful.
What did you change the paint to?
I liked this one a lot but landed on repose gray!
We bought a beach condo recently and the walls were this color. It’s the first time I ever bought a property that I didn’t immediately paint. I generally hate gray but this color had enough beige in it. Combined with blues, aquas, and off white with driftwood accents.
"Light Moves", an oldie but goodie, by SW is the best neutral ever.
I want to paint cabinets gray but nothing to dark. I'M also doing all over gray light or midtone gray. Does does Sw light french gray as cabinet color coordinate with sw oracle or network grays as a wall color? My house is open floor plan. Or would you recommend one color but different sheens. Thanks
I did my kitchen in light French gray with Dovetail on cabinets. It looks great. I also did my laundry door as an accent with Dovetail
When you compare Agreeable Gray with Kilim Beige which one would you say is the all time best interior wall neutral paint colour all hands down?
Would this be a good color for kitchen cabinets
Grey’s are on the way out this year
Beige is back!
Wow !! I just went to Sherwin Williams this past Friday and was going to get "repose grey" and wanted a lil brighter and choose "starlight ponte"??. I can't find the swatch but it's in their store on file, anyway I love it in the bathroom and may do the entire house. Lately I've been seeing a lot of grey walls and flooring coming in style everywhere.
@@rhodaatterberry3556 it is going out of style
@@rhodaatterberry3556 go next color down on repose family swatch.
@@lynneromolo4148 but I sure do see so much of it, even on flooring and furniture
Is there any red color that is compatible with agreeable gray? I really want to paint my front door a bright beautiful dark mid bold red but my interior is agreeable gray and extra white. Please any help? Thanks
Can we get away with moscow midnight accent wall in master bedroom behind the bed and agreeable grey on all other walls? We are building now and finalizing colors
Moscow Midnight is an awesome color, but it leans teal, so I'd lean more towards a Comfort Gray which is a cooler gray. My thought is agreeable gray might be too warm, so it'll be a strong contrast but not as cohesive.
Most people hail this color, and it's not bad. But in my kitchen, it appears as ICE BLUE. Lighting doesn't matter in this area, trust me. I even showed it to an SW color consultant. She was kind of amazed by it. Yes, in this sense, it absolutely clashes with the golden oak AND my dark floors in the next room. Test it out first, it's not a fix all. Besides in my kitchen, its a nice color.
This happened to me but I noticed that if I paint over the original color beige/tan on my wall it would turn blue. I painted primer on the wall and let it dry then I painted the agreeable gray and it didnt have the blue.
@@craigstanton7578 🤔I'm going to have to try this out. Thank you for the idea!
@@Nopety-Nope no problem and hope it works.
Which white would you recommend to paint over old oak cabinets ?
To go with agreeable gray walls.
Maybe Alabaster? :D
Thank you
Love this color!!
Hi , Can u suggest me a color combination that goes with agreeable gray. My entire house including ceilings is painted in agreeable gray and I plan to make some interior paint changes but not sure of the which combination will look best.
I am in love with Worldly Gray. I tried Agreeable gray but in my space it pulled green and I have led daylights.
On my living and dining rooms I don't see any green or purple shift. I love how neutral is that I can decor with any color. Navy sofa with yellow pillows. Beautiful
I concur!
@@mayrajscortesare you talking about worldly gray or agreeable?
If you're talking about agreeable then you must have the right lighting or something because I'm not the only one who has had the same issue. I've learned that a lot of factors play a role in how colors can look. It can even change from room to room. So if it works for you 👍🏽
Mine looked green too
Is Wordly Gray a true gray? Agreeable Gray has too much tan color for me.
Question: I have agreeable gray as my walls, and pure white trim. I want to do an accent fireplace wall in our open concept area so I want a colour between agreeable gray and pure white. What do you think of city loft? drift of mist?
Both those could work, you could also have a look at Divine White.
big regrets! Agreeable gray in my house, shows as beige usually, depending on the light during parts of the day it will look gray. I was extremely disappointed since I wanted a light gray ALWAYS.
If I painted my walls agreeable gray, what carpet color would work best? I’d love a video on how to choose a carpet color that goes along with your interior wall color. (I have honey oak trim as well, so I’m trying to coordinate everything together.)
I have the same problem I'm not sure on carpet color as well
Have the same trim
How many sprays of grey?
Is good for a bathroom?
What finish should agreeable Gray be bought in?
Thanks so much!
Agreeable gray shows a light blue in my kitchen but not in the pantry. Is there a gray that doesn't show blue? I have bought 7 samples of different grays and they all show blue.
@@backroadswingrider854 thanks!
How about a video on Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams?
We have paired Agreeable Gray with Techno gray. Above the chair rail is Agreeable, below is Techno Gray. This pairing is very 'Agreeable' !
If you use Baer , I love dove.
Where can you buy this in the UK?
I think you would have to get colour matched in another paint product. Ask your local paint store if they can do a Sherwin Williams colour match for you!
Just used this in my bathroom!
Hope it’s not as unflattering in your bathroom as it was in mine!
@@Wee162 it looked beautiful with the swiss coffee trim, then we had to move
I had all my downstairs painted in Agreeable Grey and I hate it! It looks like a light blue or violet. It is very cool tone, not at all like the warm greige I thought it would be.
If I were to go Alabaster for an eggshell wall, what flat white would go good for the ceiling?
I would suggest the Sherwin-Williams pre-mixed White!
Bought a house several months ago in a gray, cloudy part of the country and the entire interior was painted in Agreeable Gray. I truly disliked being enveloped in this color - it looked muddy, unflattering and depressing on the walls. I guess it was barely tolerable in the south facing rooms but really died everywhere else. Just repainted with C2 Tusk and a few others (C2 Secret, C2 Portage, C2 Aspen and C2 Pearl) and it has made a huge difference. Agreeable Gray is now a bad memory. I just couldn’t stand it, particularly waking up to it.
All over gray doesn't work for everyone. Just did a video about how color impacts mood so I get it!
Agreeable gray will NEVER go out. It’s a classic😊
Yup, the Navy and the Prison system agree with you. Lol
This my favorite color but unfortunately in my home it's a true gray and in my North facing living room it turned blue :(.
I find mine looks green.
Mine looks green too
painting my whole upstairs with this.
The actual, unabated pandemic that's ravaged decor and addled the sensibilities of once, perfectly rational individuals and groups worldwide...for years: gray paint!
I love it
My favorite is alpaca !
As a realtor I can't tell you how tired I am of grey. The problem is that it is so overdone which not only cheepens it but you don't even see what's going g on because everything is grey. Additionally, good luck to all when this becomes the harvest gold of the 60s.
I’m getting ready to paint my large modern farmhouse kitchen and living room. I want to stay neutral but I agree with you I’m sick of grey but don’t necessarily want white. As a realtor what would you suggest?
Magen, I would go with a light taupe, that seems like the new trend.
@@pmn2821 thank you. I was looking at different shades of taupe the last 2 days and it’s way more warm and beautiful then grey imp. I’ll definitely take your suggestion.
Great!!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
A much nicer color than Passive Aggressive White.
How many years has grey plagued our homes.? NOOOOOO MOOORRREEEE GGGGRRREEY...It sucks the beauty out of everything around it, including people’s skin tones.
Bless you Citizen!
So true. I’m soo over it!
Therefore the GREIGE!!
@@AlanLau23
Let's just call it what it is, warm gray.
@@backroadswingrider854
O ye of little warmth!
We have this color. Sucks the life out of everything- not a fan; husband however loves it.
We live in a greige era.
It be nice if you showed the larger screen of the rooms and less of you!
Oh lord......I thought this color was gone.... 😳🙄
Ugh! NO WAY so sick of GREY !
Homie low key hates agreeable gray
