Never going to get consistent spin with grooves full of mud. Clean your clubs Mark
ROASTED!
🤣🤣 roasted him 🤣🤣
Cleveland wedges don't care about mud 😂😂😂😂
I've tries so many wedges in my 54 years of golfing and to this day the Cleveland CG 12's are still my all-time favs. Over my current Vokey's, Mizuno's I had where lovely but the face wore out too fast. Cleveland just know wedges. Good stuff as always Mark! Thank you
Have been playing Cleveland wedges for many years and will continue to play them, great vid Mark.
Groovy…. Glad you have this partnership Mark! Loving the interesting insight into how these clubs are designed and how they work. Handsome looking things….
Mark does the absolute best golf video's. Thanks MC
Fantastic video Mark! I'm loving seeing the data from the robot. I played Zipcore wedges and this just makes me want to continue buying them.
Changed from vokeys to zip core last year. Subsequently my most improved area according to my shot scope data.
just ordered a 50 54 and 58 super excited
I have a zipcore 56 and a vokey 60. If I need real stopping power on a shot around the green I always reach for the 56. Great wedges.
wedge news is good news ... just like every January i watch your "holding the golf club " video from August 6 2007 , just to start my year off , again thanks for your help
Great video Mark. I was wondering, when they use the robot, is there any spin difference from hitting off the high tee compared to hitting from a mat?
I've always wanted to try a set of rtx's. I've been playing mack daddy 4s for a long time. I love them. But I have always liked Cleveland wedges. They would be my 1a 1b wedges. I've played vokeys, as well and don't enjoy those at all. Just my opinion. Another great video mark. The wet vs dry was cool to see.
Changed from RTX 4 wedges to Wilsons as I got then with a used iron set I bought last summer, and I kinda wish I would not have sold the Clevelands. RTX's are just so good and superb value.
Have to say the RTX Zipcore are the best wedges I've ever used. Have a set of low bounce Mizuno T20's for the summer and pick up a 54 & 58 high bounce RTX's a few months back for the softer winter conditions and they are fantastic
I still game the t20’s they’re gorgeous but previously had the rtx 4 and loved the v-sole
I agree. I have Zipcore wedges and nothing compares: not even Volkey. Cleveland have always made the best wedges.
Cant wait to see the comparison with these vs pings wedges.
I seem to remember a video TXG did regarding spin retention in wet conditions and the Pings were doing brilliantly well. Wonder what those guys will make of this new Cleveland Wedge
that is interesting to see the numbers play out mark. So much of wedge play seems like feel but without an understanding of the lie/conditions, having such an effect, then it's easy to see why 11 handicappers like me make lots of mistakes 🙂
Nice video, great content.
Would love to see side by side robot at and dry test against a Ping wedge with hydropearl finish. Those Ping wedges are amazing in the wet.
Will they do a new cavity back wedge? I'm playing cbx2's and they're still insane
Looks like a great option for Thin and Winter Conditions.. and of course Wet Conditions.. Less likely to Chuck or Blade.
I'm already sold on the 'it's all lies' tagline for these!
I have last years zipcore in my 54 that I love. I'm going to order the new zipcore in my 58 but not sure about the mid or full bounce. Does it make sense to have full bounce in both my 54 and 58? I've always thought that one needed some versatility. I do have a steep swing. I got fit twice and one guy told me mid and the other told me full
Mark, have you ever tested Edison wedges, I have a cleveland but thinking of switching 🤔
Have tour racks curious how new ones differ
Hi Mark,
How do the RTX6's compare with regular RTX Zipcores? It looks purely visual / aesthetics only?
Mark would you say upgrading from jaws md5 would be worth it?
MG3 TW wedges 60 and 56 are the standout wedges for me
When are these going to be released in UK?
It always comes down to Vokeys or these RTX wedges every year for me.... been this way for more then a few years now. I found they both always have the best feeling compared with others. But like many, I pick the Vokeys in the end... not sure why?
Wish there was a hack it out channel with video version of the podcast
Are you going to review their new putters?? They look amazing 😍
i got the 2023 mallet putter and it has great feel and value to it. glad roger dunn employee pointed me to it
Loved the access to the test at the end but I was a bit unsure whether the test that we’ve just watched shows if the new wedge does or doesn’t actually give equal performance in the wet ball condition….??
And furthermore was there any data that you could put up as a genuine comparison between the old zipcore wedges and the new line? That sort of comparison is what helps the majority of consumers decide if forking out $200+ per wedge is worth it
Before the invasion of mack daddy's and wrath of Vokey Cleveland was thee wedge of choice, I still have my old 588 RTG'S, a 56° and the wonderful Special 49°. Always a fan of Cleveland Golf, especially the old Roger Cleveland stuff.
I totally agree! I have a 53 bent to 52, 56, 60 and 64 in the original 588 RTG and a low bounce 588 BECU 60...to mix and match according to conditions. In my opinion they were the best wedges ever made. And since they're no longer conforming I don't hesitate to resharpen the grooves every couple of years. I also have a set of raw Spin Milled Vokey's in 48, 52, and 58...but they rarely make it into the bag.
Finally, a 2023 review which is worth looking at. Also, Mark just listened to the podcast, I think lou and Greg should help you get to 180 ball speed and you go for the British open! In response to your question about if you could get on tour with 180.
Club up in the morning dew!
Tried a vokey and to an average player like me it was useless. Never bought a wedge in my life till today and the 56 rtx 6 was magic. Gave me confidence in chipping.
I'd buy that wedge just on looks.... who cares if I can't justify it skill wise. 😀
Have never found a CG wedge I liked more than a Vokey. Something about the rounded bottom look just weirds me out.
Vokey has so much choice you can find similar specifications
Hi Mark bit concerned about the Robot controller. I have seen him in a couple of Vids now and even when you are showing proper amounts of infectious enthusiasm his is dead panning you. I need some reassurance here does he cheer up when you go to the bar after Roboting? I hope so😀
Haha he was a cool guy.
Haha yeah I'm with this guy. The Robot guy seemed like a robot himself. 😳
Love the RTX range, much nicer than CXB
It’s not a conclusive test if you don’t compare the results to controlled standard. Does all the wedges from other manufacturers performed the same?
No they do not. This was a test based on their controlled test. Results are on their website.
That dirt and ball residue O.o
I struggle with this new terminology etc, wedges have not improved over the years, they either fit your eye or they dont, but having looked at some of the wedges at sawgrass in the roll of honour from 20 years ago, new wedge "technology" is just bluff in my opinion. I like Vokeys or Clevelands, now the ping glides look good, but the performance of these comes through the ability of the player.
I miss the rtx 2 looks. So much going on here
Maybe I’m missing something…it was 2000rpm drop with wet over dry…not 200rpm. No axe to going here, but haven’t the ping hydroglide wedges produced matching wet and dry data?
Correct. No one else has anything as good as Ping's finish (yet).
I tested for a gap wedge today and ended up getting the 46 degree RTX6 over the CBX cavity back. I was surprised how good RTX6 felt and performed for me as I use cavity back irons. Contact feels solid and sweet. Gaming it tomorrow ⛳️🏌🏻
i'm debating whether to get the RTX Zipcore (last year's model) vs the RTX6, is there a big difference in terms of play? I don't really see any new technology except for the adjustment in MOI. Any recommendations out there?
I am looking at the same thing and there is a couple things. The leading edges change dynamically based on the bounce so low will be sharper and more square and higher will be rounder and more friendly. Also they added the hydrophobic tech so that these new wedges retain spin far more when there is wet conditions. The zips are 160 each canadian and the RTX 6 are 220. I am debating whether or not that stuff is worth the extra 60 dollars. (To be fair it might feel nicer to have the newer RTX 6 for the next couple seasons than a 5 year old wedge after a couple more years). I am leaning RTX 6 54 Full and 58 Mid
@@Kylegolfs94 thanks for the update. I ended up going to Roger Dunn golf shops and ultimately went with the RTX6. The way the clubs bite at the ball is just insane. It was too hard to pass up
I ended up with a 54 and 58 to close the gap on my Mizuno JPX irons
@@activeskater4life105 I just got my rtx 6's in today. 50 Mid 54 full 58 mid. I got them for 15% off too. made it a no brainer for me.
@@activeskater4life105 what made you choose the 6?
@@BuffaloBarber24 Ultimately i went with the 6 to take advantage of the hydrazip technology which was not available on the v5s. You really feel the difference in and around the ground especially when the grass is wet. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
Very interesting. Would have loved to have seen the robot test with one of their old wedges and the improvement gained with the new wedge.
I would have never thought about the higher launch and coming up shorter due to wet. I would have expected a lower spin and therefore it might go further or go the same but not stop as quick. #eyeopening #robotmytest
i've always played cleveland wedges, and i will always play cleveland wedges.
So does this mean the Crossy wedge is no more?
Mark doesn’t really need a chipper. I think he keeps it in the bag more to prove a point about not letting ego get in the way. If you look at his club choices in the past, he used more bladed clubs but in the last few years he has gone towards more game improvement clubs. He is a great player but knows he can help more of his audience by playing more forgiving clubs so I would bet the Crossy wedge stays in the bag as long as he has room for it.
Cool that this video was shot in 3 different countries haha
So the spin goes down 2000 revs when wet! PING wedges lose now spin when wet!?! Maybe Cleveland is still inferior?
Love my 4.0. It's the only brand new club I've ever purchased.
I don't put much faith into the robot test, hitting a wedge off a tee is not the same as compressing it off the turf, the spin and ball fight changes dramatically. I do like those wedges though, I may call my guy at Cleveland and pick up a set.
So they’ve basically tried to copy PING with hydropearl and grooves closer together…….but 2 years after PING managed to!
Yeah but have you seen how awful pings look from the top and how poor they feel? The weighting and look and grinds are all off. You’ll find ping pros paid to use their clubs not use their wedges. Every manufacturer is trying to get consistent spin with wetness variation now for a bit
Hey Mark, do you remember ‘Golf Ninja’ from the comment section, back in the day? Whatever happened to him?!
Does anyone remember Golf Ninja? Go back 8 or so years and he was all over the comments section breaking down the golf swing like he was Buth Harmon!
There is but one wedge... anything CLEVELAND
Cleveland wedges just look like shovels to me. No doubt they're good, I just can't look at them.
Wasted on you Mark if your grooves are full of mud, or is that by design so you're consistently low spin and high launch?? lol
I’ve found Cleveland wedges really “clonky” in the past, loads of feel but off strikes feel really horrible. Theses look a bit more solid but that’s purely on looks.
First
You're not first to Spain....😢
Am i the only one that hates getting information from a rep instead of an engineer designing these clubs? Like a top engineer overlooking the process cuz tour rep guys just regurgitate bullet points.
??? What happened with that robot test??? First of all on the screen it shows 2000rpm of spin drop off and the Cleveland robot guy actually also says 2 grand ie 2000, while mark says 200 in the vid. For the purpose / point of this vid a text should have been added that mark meant to say 2000.
Secondly since there is no comparison to the previous model I still have no clue if the new tech actually improved the wet spin performance… so the robot section adds ZERO value
It’s 2k and that 2k more spin than prior models.
@@MarkCrossfield thanks for clarifying! So what we see in the vid is a wet to wet comparison of the old ZipCore vs new ZipCore 6 wedges?
To me it looked like a dry to wet comparison of the new wedge only 🤷🏼♂️
@@stephanjepards8148 we did a fry to wet. To see the drop off. 👍 so the drop off is low as water will rip spin away.
@@MarkCrossfield considering that your brand runs on the idea that you show actual tests and analyze data as scientifically as possible… stats and all that… which typically you nail on the head and I appreciate your work for that, I’d recommend being a bit more careful with confusing videos like this in the future.
Keep up the great work!!
@@stephanjepards8148 I hear you sorry for the confusion 👍
Is there a wedge that reduces verbal abuse from the wife ,when you tell her that you're off to Spain as it's muddy outside...
Geez bud clean the wedge and try and hit the center of the face
Sorry Mark this is an advertisement for Srixon and there’s a shitload of wedges out there so a thumbs down. Your robot is not playing of turf, there will be a difference not a way to promote 🥺
The robot data compared to my launch monitor data confirms I don’t need new wedges because it doesn’t get any more spin than I do. Thanks for saving me that cash Mark!!!
Moved to the Cleveland RTX wedges early last year after watching a review by Mark C. Have to say I’m well happy with them and saved some money with the same results as the more expensive wedges. If you’re after new wedges I can honestly say don’t overlook these, well happy with mine ⛳️🏌🏼♂️👍
