That Max knows his stuff, it was really informative, the way he absorbed the information, and doled out the advice, recommendations, his delivery, lack of awkwardness was impressive. He's a pro, it's no wonder Titelist put him front and center for this video. That was really fun to watch.
I've always felt overwhelmed with Vokeys due to the seeming unlimited options but this video really helped me understand what is going on. Gonna pick up a set of Vokeys this year as I'm due for new wedges! Thanks.
I have the SM6'S in 50, 54 and 58. I recently had to replace the 58 so I went with the SM9. It's $ and beautiful. I'll get around to replacing the other 2 in the next year. Best wedges around...
I thought the F grind is the most common because tour players get the F grind custom grinded on the tour truck. I recall hearing this info on a titleist tour truck video.
Short game is a problem for me too. I watched that Rick Shiels/Dan Grieve short game video on RUclips. Dan has 3 releases for different short game shots. Bought his book, and started practicing with it. I'm a beginner, but I have hit a couple of good shots using his techniques. Very promising.
I came to this conclusion thri buying and trading. 😂. 50 f grind 12 bounce. And 54 and 58 d grind and 12 bounce. The turf interaction for me in New England has been great. I am sure I save a stroke a side with the right wedges.
Awesome video I struggle in the exact same way you do tight lies around the green. This was the best explanation of bounce and grind variations Ive seen thank you.
I just picked up two SM 10's , a 48* F Grind and a 54* F Grind.. Basically i re-vamped my irons and wedges all within the last two weeks.. went from Cobra OL ltdx irons, to Cobra Tour irons.. and had picked up a 60* snakebite wedge too.. well i thinned out the One length wedges i had 48-52-56, and a couple other clubs i wasn't using anymore and traded them, when i was buying the two Vokeys... and i don't feel like i had a lot of wear n tear on the wedges, but a few years ago, i was still playing some old SM4's and i always felt like i got plenty of stopping power with them on full shots and chip shots. But i noticed instantly with the new Vokey's on chip shots, my ball checked up like it would with my old Vokey's. And the thing that i always kicked myself about, was back in 2022, i got back into golf after 2 years away from golf, and i had traded my old Titleist irons ( 735cm ) and Vokey wedges, because i was looking for something new and a bit more forgiving... But i literally am right back to where i was LOL, Never again will i run afoul of Vokey and their wedges
cool fitting....but a note. The clubs now fit this range but according to the video you play a slightly firmer course. Wouldn't less bounce be helpful? greeting from germany
This was a great video. I've been playing some non-Vokey wedges for the last year that are a bounce that a pro recommended...but I did not get fit for them. I have been struggling so much with them that I want to go back to Vokey wedges, BUT get fit the right way like you did here. Thanks!
I'm a shallow hitter, and have a Cleveland RTX SW 56, with 6 degree bounce. Seems to work for me. But, they say that SM9 14 degree bounce K grind is really good for bunker shots. Might try it.
I have an S gring 56° w/a steel shaft & a T grind 60° w/a graphite shaft. I love them, but imo the only thing that fixed my short game was hours of practice. It's nice that they're fit specifically for me, but u could put a 1960's Wilson dual wedge in my hand and I'm just as confident and accurate with it. I love watching ppl get fit tho, it makes me excited for them, great video!!
YOU REALLY WOULDNT BELIEVE how similar your issues are in this video to mine, have just done the same fitting with mine and can say it has given me a LOT more confidence, not perfect yet like it used to be but getting there...fingers crossed
He’s the best! I believe he does the majority of the fittings in Calgary. If you want to arrange I can try to set it up. Email me at brandon@newninemediaco.com
I have the S in my 54. It's pretty versatile but if you like to open your club up. You may want to go with an M or a D grind which I have in my 60. Bounce will be determined on the firmness of your course.
Immediately I noticed on your chip shots you use too much wrist because you aren’t turning your hips. This was a great wedge fitting btw with lots of good info.
I bought 2 new SM9 wedges 2 months ago because my old wedges where old and had low spin numbers. I made a rookie mistake and bought them blindly only using the website as a reference. I took the 60 degree 8 bounce M-grind which I now love, but the second wedge was a mistake took the 56 degree 10 bounce S-grind and the issues I have with this wedge is on full shots. My LW covers on full shots 90 to 95 yards and the SW is supposed to cover the 100 to 110 shots on full swings but it doesn't my LW goes longer and my current Cobra Gap wedge goes 120 to 130 carry on full shots. Now I plan to get a proper fitting in a months time but was wondering how do I fix this SW gap, hopefully the fitter can fix it without me having to buy a new SW😂😅 Any suggestions 🤔 😅
So did Tom Watson. Not everyone plays rock hard fast greens where the extra spin of new is needed. Grooves are most important in wet conditions. Roll is a lot easier to predict and control than spin... especially for weekend warriors.
Reason most people do not get fit, #1 Golf is expensive as is, to get fit is an additional cost that most just can't swing, #2 Time, I have 3 kids, to get a day to go Golf is hard as is, take another day for a fitting, impossible.
Depending on the facility, they may waive a fit fee with the purchase of clubs. If that’s the case, the money you’d save from a fit fee you could hire a baby sitter for the 2 hours. Boom problem solved
@@commonman317through Vokey WedgeWorks the K is also offered in a "Low Bounce" 06° version in 58° & 60° Lofts. Can be Played from Medium Firm to Soft Conditions. I Special Ordered a 58°- 06° K Grind back in the "SM 6 Days". I went to an SM9 58°- 04° T Grind as the LB K replacement this Summer due to FIRMER Local Conditions than even the LB K is truly suited for. I'm more of a Shallow Sweeper as a preference. I used a 54°- 10° V Grind (also ordered along with that K) for Rough and/or Softer Lies where I wanted to swing a little Steeper. This was replaced by a SM 9 54°- 10° S Grind - since Vokey no longer has the V Grind available in 54° Loft.
@@brodygoalieit has a ton of bounce on it. I struggle out of bunkers with it because I can't open up the face. Looking for something like the m or t grind for my 60
not implying anything it was just funny that you mention ping wedge and then what he said later on the video was just funny... i thought it was funny his late hmmmm interesting remark, could have gone hmmmm interesting your hitting this 50 was better in his mind or hmmm interesting why plug ping in our Titleist demo day? its jus me.. i pick things up and smile and comment.. nothing serious just funny ..
All of your normal chip shots are too far forward. I know I know many people give advice but I do come from a place of higher level experience. Place ball just in front of your right big toe. To hit low shots place ball just at your big toe. You moved the ball too far forward on normal pitch causing your hands to help which in reality hands don’t help in a pitch shot. Watch RUclips videos by Phil Michelson they are some of the better ones out there.

Glad you enjoyed it. Ya Max is amazing. A true professional.
First shot of the video was a skulled wedge equaling low ego and great video for us average folks to learn from. Nice one, Brandon.
Thank you 🙏🏻

I picked up the SM9s in 50, 54, and 58 degrees this year. It has been so fun watching the ball hit the green and bite/spin. These wedges are legit!
Nothing better than seeing the ball zip back.
Ordered my vokeys last week. Watching this today and we got the same exact lofts grinds and bounces
That's awesome! What are the chances?!?
Good video. Went away from Vokeys the past 2 years but will be going back to them soon.

I like low bounce for bunkers to be honest. I'm often playing out of sand that is firm.
If you like to open up the face in bunkers you might struggle with the k grind. I did.
Yeah soft fluffy sand it is
Hard sand NO

I wouldn't go with the Chrome finish. They may look amazing but the clubface glares in your face and burns your retinas on a sunny round of golf.
Just wear sun glasses
I use them as a signal mirror when I get lost in the woods looking for my tee shot
Sun what is that is Scotland 😂
Chrome for life
Yeah the black ones are lovely
So for a handicap of 12. The best forgiving sand wedge and lob wedge for getting out of soft sand . Which grind etc. Thanks
D or K grind. Both have good amount of bounce. I prefer the D grind as it's more versatile for other shots around the green.

I’ve got the black finish on my 50 54 & 58 vokie sm9 wedges love them ❤
I would love to do a wedge fitting like this. Is this what they do at the title it’s performance fitting places?
It would be a different experience at TPI.
I love the raw finish! Always have, I didn't realize you could still get them.
They look awesome!
Any recommendations on what grind to get in 54 n 58? I will be using the 54 a lot more than the 58
I have the S in my 54. It's pretty versatile but if you like to open your club up. You may want to go with an M or a D grind which I have in my 60. Bounce will be determined on the firmness of your course.
Vokey also has a fitting questionnaire that might help you pick.

What was the bounce on the 60? Was it 12? Your video showed both 10D and 12D for the 60.
Went with the 12 D grind. I believe the D only comes in 12. The S is 10 degrees.

I’ve tried a lot of wedges and the SM8 was just different. I can’t see myself changing brands. SM9 next season probably
Hi, I play my PW-4, 3/4 longer. Should wedges also be played with a longer shaft, or std lenght is good?
I extend mine to match my set
So you're saying my v1 spin milled need to be replaced with some new SM?
Best video I’ve ever watched. Period.❤
Quite the compliment! Thank you
It's a good informative video but I think you need to broaden the type of videos you watch haha
I feel attacked. I’m that guy who has the same wedges for over 10 years. Lol
Haha time for new ones!
As long as you don’t take out of the garage 😝
So did Tom Watson. Not everyone plays rock hard fast greens where the extra spin of new is needed. Grooves are most important in wet conditions. Roll is a lot easier to predict and control than spin... especially for weekend warriors.
How much does one have to pay for all of this - clubs and fitting? I mean, if they are "invited" and if they are not?
Usually there is no fitting charge if you purchase the clubs.
I have the sm9s them I have the 46 f grind 50 f grind 54 s grind and 58 s grind
I knew you weren’t going Be happy with those Glide wedges.
Haha I don't miiiiind them. I still play them in my vacation set but have fixed some chipping issues.
Great video. Love the titliest gear. Great looking course
I like your swing around the green, like mine, a mess!
Lol it’s come a long way this summer. It’s funny what a lesson and practice will do for the game 😂🤦♂️
Did you not like your ping wedges? I’ve been gaming SM9s and been thinking about switching to those ping wedges
SM9s are WAY better around the green
I believe 60 k grind would be good. And maybe would have got you that extra distance you was lacking with the 60 d grind.
Great content. Great questions/answers.
Thank You 🙏🏻 We just filmed a Titleist iron fitting today. Should be out next week.
