  • The Antlion Modmic Wireless surprised me with awesome audio quality and a well thought out magnetic mount system. This enables you to easily switch between different devices like for example your high end headphones and your VR headset. I really enjoyed making this review! :)

The stock mic sounds really good, if your goal is communication. Cutting out bass helps the clarity of your voice. The main reason, I believe, that women are often preferred as radio dispatchers.

I always have issues with my modmic(s). randomly shutting off (even when fully charged). This last one that I have has a bad battery. Since its out of warranty, I had to jump the usb positive pin to the battery circuit (after removing the battery of coarse). The other issue is... Sometimes you press the button to come on.. Sometimes you have to long press it to come on... Sometimes you have to hold the button down, it goes into some weird pairing. Then you to hold the button again to kick it out... Its a mess... Great sounding mic though... lol

This seems really cool, however for that price you can easily get freestanding mics that trump it in quality. In fact, you can probably do so for half the price.
    Cost of convenience I guess

Yes, totally @ cost of convenience. It's the way to go if you want a well integrated wireless headset solution that doesn't get in the way. Or for a VR headset. Otherwise there are more suitable alternatives in my opinion.

@@WatchMysh VR definitely sounds like the most viable use case for this, but how many VR games utilise voice chat? Not a rhetorical question, I have virtually no idea as I don't own any VR gear

@@Fantastic_Mr_Fox I don't really know too lol. I only fly in VR. But lots of social games support chat functions. And VR content creators could make good use of it too I guess

Appreciate the review! If anyone has any questions about the ModMic (or its price) please feel free to reply here and we'll answer! :) That "Upgrade" is coming (still many months away before anyone asks), stay tuned and we hope you'll cover the ModMic Wireless 2 when it is ready :D.

Hey! You're welcome. :) And of course hit me up once version 2.0 is ready. The only real issue I have right now is that I think it's too expensive for what it does under the current market conditions. The 4 or 5 people I talked to via Zoom and/or let them try it out without telling them the price all said their limit would be 100 bucks. And well of course I wasnt fond about the micro USB but you guys expected that I guess. ;) Anyways: it had been nice working with you and thanks for stopping by to answer my viewer's questions!

Ha-ha, not even four minutes in "don't forget to like the video, if you made it this far". I am still giggling; that deserves a like.
