This Geoff guy gets a gold star. He could be a professional hypnotist. I've been on board since Nectar One and this latest version really has some major improvements. I'm excited! I just got it, but haven't cracked it open yet.
Hope you guys work on getting those backer modules sounding like crisp style-transfers of voices instead of the robot artifact filled sounds they are now. Still very cool!
Well done Geoff! There's a lot of ballistics in this video but you've managed to keep it in the pocket... ;) If I get what you're saying at 41:30, this means I could get Lennon & McCartney to sing along with me!! That's awesome!
Thankyou for doing these tutorials Geoff. You do an absolutely great job of them always. I find that in many other tutorials that people do they are talking about what can be done but they hardly ever tell you in detail how it can be done. This is not the case with you. I always come away from your videos with a good understanding of how to use the products. Its a big help... so again Thankyou so much for being very good at what you do Geoff.
I used Plugin Boutique and upgraded from Nectar 3+ to Nectar 4 standard for £43.A 67% reduction on normal price. The advanced was only a 20% reduction,so figured it best to get standard and then see what the price for upgrading to advanced Nectar 4 in a few months.I still have Nectar 3+ to use too.
Maybe my ears are not working correctly but I have seen some other tutorials where I also thought the starting vocals sounded better and more natural than the mixed once with nectar…
Loving the Audio Level module as well as the saturation. The voices module looks like a fun toy but I still prefer stacking real vocals, nothing like it and is more fun.
I believe there should be a way to analyze the music around the vocals to ensure a better match with the track, rather than just trying to make the vocals sound like a different track.
@@lNowHerel izotope make a plugin called neutron. You put it on whatever channels you like and it shows you the frequency analysis. Say you have a guitar and vocal with the plugin inserted, you open one up and it shows you the analysis for both and which frequencies are masking or clashing with the vocals. It then lets you EQ either guitar or the vocal, or both to fix the issues. It does more than that too. Best to look for izotope neutron on RUclips and watch for yourself 👍
Wow, this is really impressive. Powerful yet user friendly, great demo and walk through. Thank you for the tips and tricks and kudos to the developers behind the scenes.
Great walkthrough, can the follow node for the eq where you get it to follow a certain frequency, be set as a side chain dynamic eq, like in surfer EQ 2 by sound radix, this would help me not upgrade to their eq and stick with iZotope's framework?
In this demo the Backer voices sound great. When you listen to them separately, e.g. changing your own voice, you will probably find that most of them sound strange. And in my experience it is very hard to make that go away. I would like to see and hear more tutorials or examples of how to get this to sound right.
I don’t like that it does damn near the exact treatment regardless for me. Decided to try it since I have ozone 11 but I just don’t like it. mixed vocal vs raw it did the same exact thing obviously sounded bad on the mixed vocals and made the raw vocals sound thin and meh at best. Don’t see myself using it
Extremely helpful overview thanks, and explains for me very clearly what v 4 offers relative to v 3. BTW, your voice is sounding great in this video (assume you’ve Nectar 4’d it? 😉). Thanks again.
I've already done the update. It's expensive, but here we have a completely new machine then the old Nectar. Also, the finally the possibility to use single modules as plugins. Auto-level is perfect. And in general, it's always a good start up for mixing vocals or, as happens, when you are in a hurry. Anyway, I think is a great evolution from the previous version.
So, Autolevel is like Selig, right? Also, for CPU performance reasons, I assume you can have a "working track" and then bounce that to a pre-mixed/effected new track? I know that might depend upon the DAW, obviously. Does this run stand alone as well?
I want to know what Audio Interface Geoff uses lol these plugins are not friendly while on record. With that being said, when iZotope decides to release an audio interface, it's officially over for RME, more or less.
I have Windows 10, interface VOLT 1 - but with me not work in Nectar 4 the "Baker" function. Die faces comes not to see at all. Why? And, more better! - if I show my audio for Ozon 11 to hear, it starts to suspend, makes a crash-bang, and suggests so high loudness, that I think my computer flies away. Why? John Burn from Germany
Only thing it's missing is 3 octaves of flanged echoed COWBELL. Great unit. Thanks for the great demo. Needs an apt that makes you sound like Paul Rogers on a Shure 57 😂. Be good Nectar MAN. Love your Star Trek processing. 🖖
Where from Audiolens take audio signal to capture Targets ??? I use Sonarworks that do EQ coreection for headphones and speakers and it is quiet drasticly with EQ that adds frequencies like +12dB where I have my room frequency spectrum hole. Should I turn off Sonarworks app BEFOREI decide to take Audiolens snapshot of vocal or full song target ?
Hello Great video. Newbie to using Izotope production suite. I have my (instrument and) vocal tracks grouped (Ableton Live 12 Standard) 1- Do you put an instance of Nectar 4 on each track, get the results you want and then on the bus/aux track (going to the master track) or just the bus/aux track or both? Thanks in advance.
Hi Geoff, I also own RX 10 -- for tone-matching vocal references, should I use 'Lens' as you suggested in this video, or would it perhaps be better to use 'Music Rebalance' on the 'Best' setting (which is excellent, I use it all the time) to isolate the vox within RX, and then simply train lens on the 'Capture' setting instead of 'Acapella'? Which of these methods should yield the best results? Thanks!
interesting. can you use the voices module to make another harmony of a vocal file, and export that so that you can use that harmony with the backer module?
Hello Guys from izotope I bought the complete thing and sadly at the end i got no clue how the Chain would be. For example i record myself into the daw and the only plugin i put on the vocal line is antares, on the other lines are my not rendered drum mix with a ruff mix. So how is the order? can i now put nectar directly on the vocals? or do i has to render the whole song first? i cant find a tutorial on your channel where you explain it. The end result is i got everything in my projeck, put izotope 10 on the master and let it run xd. please tell me a link for detalied description in which order i has to use the programms.
I just want to suggest an implementation. When I'm moving the voices in the stereo field in the panel, I want to see the kind of voices I'm working with. It's not simple to remember which color is associated to the unison, to the 5th and so on.

Love the Auto-Level. The Tame Noise feature is genius.Much better than Waves Vocal Rider, or using a lot of compression. I wish all the separate modules had the learn feature..lol. The Backer concept is also brilliant...it just still sounds a little wonky for me. Hopefully it will get better. All in all, this is my go to plug in, and has been for years. 4 is definitely an upgrade from 3 IMO. Great Vid!
Thanks, including for labeling sections to which I can return, if needed. I'm excited, and it gave me $100 off winding up with Melodyne 5 Assistant, since Nectar 4 included Melodyne Essentials. I probably could have just used Mel. Ess. but wanted full mouse-dragging-level control over individual vocal nuances. I never heard "metadata" being used that way, like perceived eq profile of a vocal in a song (versus embedded text details like title or artist name). It's weird how many audio experts have my own, same, exact room and door :)
I bought the upgrade from Nectar Elements to Nectar 3 PLUS. NOW you come out with Nectar 4. SO why didn't you FIRST tell me that 4 was coming out, and #2, why I would not get a special discount if I considered AGAIN upgrading to 4 now? And what are the differences between those 2 upgrades, and don't tell me to watch this video. I'd LOVE to see the Marketing DEPT do their JOB and put out a Comparison Chart for those two because I have not seen one of those on your complicated website, unless I either missed it, or it's buried somewhere, OR it's not there. Anyone know? Think I maybe be done dealing/buying from Izotope for awhile, like I've already done with WAVES.
A bit late here but I just upgraded my MPS bundle and look forward to trying out the new Nectar! Geoff, as usual, such a great presentation, so calm, eloquent, a pleasure to watch and listen. Those first vocal bits have bit of a TV On The Radio vibe, very nice!

So new to Nectar, what best way to record in, I am using nothing on insert for main vocal and using a BUS to send, that way I can get a nice sound to record but not record the BUS in...so raw in that sound good? or do I add auto level to main insert vocal and record that in.
