I really love how Young Guru is not tempted to use EQ and other plugins too early on like most producers and engineers I know do. He is very patient and has a very clean, groundbreaking process. As a producer myself, I truly respect that. I learned so much from this video, thank you.
Great point, and that's a real hard thing to do ..i always want to manipulate the sound on the fly as im making the track ...i suppose it all depends on the genre and style of music your producing ...i find when making techno i wanna use plug-in's to design the sound as im working ...then with Hip-Hop or Trap u can keep the track clean then mess with the plug-ins after you have the main body of the track completed like Young Guru has done here... there's no right or wrong method in music everyone works differently and has their own production style 🎚🎛 💯
man I hope this dude knows how lucky he is to not only work wit guru but to stay wit him on site like that , thats crazy yo ..shheshhh I wish yoo...big ups to guru and reuben yall cookin ....I feel when guru said every plugin should be able to resize lol lot of ppl prolly didn't catch it or get it but if u know u know hahah
I am so happy I came across this video! to see the Goat at work with one of my favorite Plugin companies builds more confidence with in my work. Haven't tried Izotope in my pro tools sessions yet. I always use it as a stand alone when mastering, but now I'm very excited to dive deep into my mix sessions and explore!
Young Guru has always been a angel since Rocafella days, but the kid is dope kinda like Wale by voice and writing style, dope cause Wale is one of the few that represent the Poetry in RAP cause thats stands for Rhythm and Poetry...
This by far is 1 of my favorite RUclips period but specifically for my newly purchased izotopes suite 6! Young Guru speaks in a language we get ..none of the other tutorials are remotely close nor are they hip hop so thank you bro! ..and s/o to the artist from NC! Dope music young #215salute ✊🏾
Video was great! So much knowledge and inspiration ..life wise and productions wise. Appreciate how "in depth" it was... Guru is definitely well versed and explains very thoroughly Cheers Izotope. :) NeoVerb looking nice!!
I just bought the Izotope Production Suite 6. Thank you so much for inspiring me to buy it. If I didn't see this entire video and hear what Young Guru and Reuben Vincent were creating (along with hearing their perspective), I would've never bought this plug-in. As an artist, music producer, and sound engineer, I really look forward to utilizing this plug-in to its true and full potential for as long as I can. Great way to start the new year!
Thanks to Young Guru and İzotope, would also be great if you do a little studio tour and show us the gears used in production. He mentions about spending on the essential gears only rather than on unnecessary gears but what are his essential gears?
Benny Blanco was saying that in an interview i watched earlier.. you forget that as a musician/producer.. youll spend forever trying to find the right kick snare, effect stuff that the listener pays zero attention to. Get the idea out and let it flow then go back and get it to what it needs and nothing more... its a pain in the ass cause whenever i hear a song i listen back multiple times to catch as much as i can, and i love music for that..for us its different than just a vibe. So difficult to keep that in mind
Yes and no. Guru has been on for 25 years plus. He has no real insight on what it takes to get on in todays music landscape. He doesn’t know the modern struggle of dealing with a saturated market. He has had his contacts in place longer then most have been alive.
you can only go so far alone cuz we die. you can do great work alone. may be better to work with others who are sharing the goal. would be cool to uplift the new minds like yall did with this.
Great stuff... I love personally '"shake your bacon" from Peter Fox. Yip yip, I'm going to show up tonight, I ride into the place, well adorned, Everyone's dancing, the ladies are truly delightful, A whole tray full of cream slices. The cakes sh-shake their rolls, Sh-shake their gold on the ribs, Sh-sh-shake their wood in front of the huts, The guys try to nod to the beat. Hey bartender, mix something up for me, He shakes it, fills it to the brim, A huge hit pushes me against the wall, The DJ is fit, I shake his hand. Thank you very much! It quakes and wobbles, Everyone turns around, they look at her, She's two tons of pure elegance, She dances with me like a graceful elephant. Mama, show me your baggage, Baby, come on, shake your front and back, Pearl, your table is well set, Shake your bacon, ah, shake your bacon, ah.
Shout out to Young Guru & Reuben Vincent for sharing their process. Would be great to get a masterclass from the both of them about writing, tracking, producing, mixing & mastering to see them go more in depth into their workflow! Peace + Love. =)

Young Guru looks like a whole Dallas underground rapper Pilkhasso and the Verbadelyks dipped in Dave Chappelle juice.
What was he using prior to pro-tools?
