Hey doc. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I really need your help as i want to switch my oil choices as we consume sunflower oil which i believe is bad for health. I am wanting to move towards a healthy lifestyle but I have a question. I did some research and found that Coconut oil is full of saturated fat, which can raise your LDL, although it does have lauric acid which helps in raising HDL but it still has a lot of saturated fat which according to studies should not be consumed more than somewhere around 1 tbs a day. While for mustard oil i found that it contains Erucic acid. As per research in the United States, Erucic acid has toxic effects on the heart at high enough doses. (I think deep frying can be considered as consumption in high doses). Consumption of mustard oil is thereby banned in the U.S.A and even FDA in India has prohibited consumption of mustard oil. Can you please help to explain how these two oils are good. Also i wanted to ask can we use olive oil for high heat cooking? I've heard that it's best to not heat olive oil at high temperatures as it has a low smoking point. Please help doc.
Fantastic! I use coconut oil and a little bit of ghee and occasionally use mustard oil in pickles. Together I use may be about 300ml per month, mainly to sauté vegetables, cooked by AMC waterless cooking method. Since many commentators have asked about groundnut/sesame oil, my own experience which may not be typical. I used to use groundnut oil mostly, about 300ml or so per month and once I shifted to coconut oil because of thyroid problem, the joint pains totally disappeared in a few months. I think it may be because of high amount of omega6 fatty acids in groundnut oil. Sesame oil has even more of it. Mustard oil is actually rich is anti inflammatory omega3 but it also has erucic acid. Anyway, my consumption of mustard oil may be only 50-100 ml per year in pickles. I otherwise use mustard oil for oil bath once a week.
Our tamilnadu wooden cold pressed groundnut oil(vit A and D) , gingelly oil(vit E)[rich in antioxidant] are far more beneficial oil than Mustard oil...
Thank you so much for the excellent advise and info sir. So we need to use only coconut oil for cooking means how good is that for heart patients ? Many say don’t use coconut oil for a heart patient. Kindly advise . I am a regular follower of your RUclips videos and tons of thanks for the wonderful contents ❤

Hello Dr. Pal, I'm curious about the effectiveness of castor oil in cleansing the colon. Is it a recommended method, and would you consider making a video explaining its benefits?
Dr.pal I have a major question....could u pls tell ur opinion about Indian vs western toilet .....when I sit on western toilet I can't poop....bt I wanted to travel many places
Hey Dr pal, big fan of your work, I personally lost 47kg by the method of intermittent fasting and working out. This took nearly a year. Now I was wondering to start eating in the evening again as I can't stop losing weight. Like it would go below BMI. Pl tell me what to do. Thanks
Sir, I have seen another doctor suggesting to use high SFA oils. He claimed WHO and some other prestigious orgs have suggested not to use coconut oil (he didn't suggest to completely avoid it). I don't what to follow.
Is mustard oil banned in the US? Even those available in the Indian stores (that are placed with other edible oils) are marked as 'external use only'.. is it safe to consume ?pls. advice.
The question is not how much oil do you use, the question is how the oil is being extracted in short buy oil from wood pressed oils from natural farmers who grow their seeds on own and extract oil on their own with help of bulls.
Oils to be used for cooking should be low on saturated fats, trans fats and high in MUFA and PUFA Groundnut oil and sesame oil are good as MUFA = PUFA Olive oil rich in MUFA called oleic acid. So good for heart. But not good for indian cooking due to low smoking points Mustard oil has MUFA called euricic acid. Not heart healthy Coconut oil, Palm oil, ghee - saturated fats - unhealthy for heart Our body can naturally make saturated fats. So they come unnder non essential fats Sunflower, soyabean oil PuFA > MUFa, therefore inflammatory and unhealthy Coconut oil is good for hair but not for cooking Oil usuage per month should be 500 ml per month per person..that is 4-5 tsp per day Finally, all refined oils are unhealthy. Use wood pressed oils only..that is wood pressed ground nut oil and wood pressed sesame oil
We can go or we cannot? It's not clear for 500ml per person comment
