    Love my Commando , I received mine last week and took it out to a local dam . Caught 23 Redfin Perch . On a 4 gram soft plastic + Jig head

      It likes casting 4gr. Truly great budget reel

    I actually use this with the standard spool as an all-around, budget reel. Quality gear, strong drag, and what seems to be a durable frame gives it great utility for flipping, punching, frogging, etc.

    Fantastic video! I love how you are willing to try these chinese reels and tell us how they are. Not only that you push these reels to the limits and give amazing tips to improve them.
    That would make the comando the best budget 100 size (9kg drag) reel then?. I am not a fan of eva foam texture my self (its just a me thing 😂). I think the other handle is a TPU or TPR material (its like a rubber based silicone) mostly used in cordless and hand tool grips its good stuff imo.
    Would you pair a comando with a little firmer rod? I have my eye on a 4-12lb 7'6" budefo rainbow, but unsure what its like.

      I would pair the Commando with a firmer rod. The Commando quite possibly is. I couldn’t remember which TP rubber it was or find it anywhere🤣Glad you enjoy the videos.

      It sure is. It works well without but for me even better with the extra. Probably don’t really need them at all. I hadn’t added them for the cast testing. Just like to play around

    Ugh, that spool gap kills it for me. That's the one thing I hate about the Zephyr, the frickin gap. I don't think I've ever had a backlash on that reel that didn't end up with me having to pull the spool because of the line getting in there. I'll never buy another reel that has such a big gap.

    Hello my friend
    I bought SOLOKING HIAW200, tell me if Soling GKA200 Pro is a newer model than HIAW200? How do they differ from each other????
    I am delighted with the great work of the HIAW200 and now I am wondering about the GKA200Pro - is it a bigger and better newer model than the HIAW200???
    I could also buy PISCIFUN CARBON XCS but it is expensive and I don't know if it is as good as Soloking

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  Месяц назад

      @@OneAndOnlyChi it’s not the best with lightest of lures. Try to keep your casting smooth. You can upgrade the brakes by adding a couple of N52 Neodymium magnets of the correct size. Get the thinnest you can

      @@TheConstantAngler it doesn't seem like there is anywhere on the shallow spool for the magnets to attract to. It's all aluminum

      @@OneAndOnlyChi not had that problem myself

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  Месяц назад

      It doesn’t look much but there is enough there. With BFS you need to flick your wrist on the backstroke then push rather than snap on the forward stroke. This is a larger BFS reel so when casting lures below 3gr it is not ideal. If your regularly casting above these weights it could be beneficial to add a couple more magnets. It’s easy to do if you buy the correct 4mm x 0.5mm N52 magnets as you can just place however many you need on top of the original magnets thereby customising it to your needs. I have done this with both the Commando and Acura as I felt they were slightly underbraked. The Commando is effectively the same reel.

    What test and type of line are useing on reel?

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  4 месяца назад

      I have Kinhfom Microfly 0.2# 9lb on. It’s very fine and in reality more like 5lb breaking strain and not very robust. I only use it for testing purposes to see if it can get in between the spool and frame. If it doesn’t I’m then happy with its performance. Typically I would use braid of 0.6# PE with a reel such as this.

    So 7:1 is 76 cm per turn and 8:1 is only 68 cm per turn ? 🤔🙄 How the fuck does that add up? 🤔🤣 How can a higher speed make it slower? 😱😳😳
    Sorry for my attitude. I understand the picture was from some website. Just thinking a 8:1 must be able to take in more line than a 7:1.

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  4 месяца назад

      🤣I must admit I hadn’t spotted that. Their labelling etc is not always the best. I’ve seen a lot worse. I would say the 7:1 is 68cm and the 8:1 is 76 cm. I know the Commando which is 7:1:1 is 68cm which equates to about 73 turns of the handle for 50meters. This proved to be fairly accurate when I spooled it from a 50m spool of line. As they are built on the same platform I would say this is what they should have put on the box. The tolerances on the Commando are much better. I have given my GKA to a mate who loves using it with 0.6# and has had no problems with line getting between the spool and frame as of yet.

      Yes you might be right that they have switch the numbers.
      Why do you think the commando is better than the GKA 200 pro? I just a GKA and was thinking of using it for anything above bfs application. Lures between 7-25 grams on the deeper spool and 12-14 lbs fc. Would you say the commando still would be the better reel for that? Mostly jerkbaitfishing. I actually picked the GKA because of the higher gear ratio of 8 instead of 7.

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  4 месяца назад +1

      @@robin_lundahl the GKA might be better for that as it’s a more solid build and with the thicker Fluoro the tolerance between spool and frame will be fine.
