I have one of this model. And I really love it. I changed handle knobs, and used ballbearings instead of those horrible plastic bushings that's in the knobs originally. ( the same they use in handle knobs in all to many reels Japanese and Chinese). I understand they probably can handle less maintenance, and therefore suit the regular consumer better. But the make the whole reels feels sloppy, and less sensitive. But I regress. The reel feels like it's way more expensive. Smooth, quiet, and quite easy to use. I was lucky and got it really cheap on an early bird deal . 18 dollar incl tax. It's twice the price now. But still worth it imho. New to your channel, and love the content. Keep up the good work , and tight lines from Norway 🎣
It was £15 plus taxes to UK about £21. Totally agree with your assessment of the reel. Just needs bearings in the handle knobs. I shall be using it in Saltwater so I will leave as is. Thanks for watching
I have upgraded all my reels with ballbearing, and proper shimming in knobs if they don't come with them. Salt or fresh. Can't stand that sloppy plastic feel. A drop of oil here and there and some light cleaning when needed is a small price to pay for a nerdy guy like me. Just makes the fishing experience more enjoyable for me when everything feels smoother and tighter. But thats just me. Each to their own. I like to pimp my ( probably too many) reels 😁
I don't know whether to recommend this one or the commando to my old man. I'm thinking because he would want the deep spool I'm going to recommend the commando. I personally would get the Fox and Swap the handle and Knobs.
@@gordonjohn4475 I ordered the 500 size and yes it is a shallow spool. I think the 2000 is the same reel but with both shallow and deep spools? Not certain though.
Great video. I have many baitcaster reels for piking etc; and have recently got more into BFS. I have this reel and the kastking zephyr but have a question... A lot of BFS guys say to have minimum amount of line on the spool however you seem to use quite a lot. What are your thoughts on both views? Many thanks, keep the vids coming.
If I am aiming to throw very light lures then I stick to 50m, 60m max. If I am using 4gr and up I find I can use more. If your brakes are struggling to cope you can always add a bit of end tension. I think it is very much horses for courses. Do what works for you. Ideally 50m for light lures and light lines but more on bigger reels, with thicker lines and heavier lures if you need to and can get away with it. Do whatever you need to keep fishing effectively.
I did briefly have one but to this date it is the only reel I have ever sent back. Myself and my admin team bought several between us and we all asked for refunds as the reel had so many problems. I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. Shame as the concept was good.
As I do have the Commando, I'd be quite keen on this reel. I just am unable to locate this on Ali - do you have a link please? Another excellent review, thank you!

@@TheConstantAngler I can confirm that this reel is something special. Super smooth and good breaking for all size lures I tried. I really really like it! Even managed to catch a lil Jack Pike on the canal this morning (and lost another). Thanks for your recommendation!
Nice Adrian! Now I get what Glenn was all about.. and I want one eaven more now! 😆
Cheers mate. He knows a good reel when he sees one
First!!! Can’t wait to watch. Pretty curious how this compares to the commando and gka200! Cheers Adrian!
Quite favourably.

The slightly deeper BFS spool look ideal for 0.1mm braid for fishing light lures in snaggy areas.
Exactly. Should give room for a little thicker lines. Plus the drag to handle them
I enjoy your videos on reels that are under $50 dollars .This way i can have a combo for certain techniques
That’s what I do. Glad you enjoy them

The Commando is a lovely reel.
I want the deep spool version. Would that be the 500 or 2000 size? Many thanks.
To be honest I don’t know. I think it may be the other size but I couldn’t say for certain
What size did you order as yours looks like a shallow spool?

Let me know if you find it has both spools as I will put a post up to let people know.
Will do 👍
Nice looking reel m8 well done 👏
