You opened up the next set and to a lonely, kid in the navy, the Cascades Sang that song just for the guy who stood in the doorway and couldn't come in. What a thrill !
John Gummoe and the lads still rock! I especially liked their 'modern' interpration of their timeless classic. Dont you ever wish you were a teen in the sixties? I do!!
the awesome thing was that you invited me to Chula Vista where you all were recording your new album. Yeah This 65 year old in Christian music, was that kid. There I was in the studio with the hottest group in America watching them record their new album. John, Thank you all for the precious memory that is still with me. Blessings to you all.

they took the 60's out of it, the original is such a period signature of our lives, when we were young, hard to beat such original emotions recovered every time we listen to the original version. Not for me, this one.

I have to say, this a wonderful re-make of the original. I grew up listening to what is known today as the "Oldies, butm, Goodies". At my age, I can really appreciate a lot of the re-makes of those songs. This one really takes me back to my younger days, remembering how nuch easier and fun life was. Mahalo (thanks) from Hawai'i.

The hardest part for me is knowing that we cannot turn back the hands of time so that our children and grand children could live in the America that I grew up in. Yes we had Vietnam but we also shared a patriotism that todays generation would not believe. We also were blessed with music that became a part of our every-day lives. 40 plus years after the original and the cascades made this heavenly song an original once again. Very seldomly is the sequel any good, but this guys knocked it out of the park.These guys belong in the hall of fame along with all the oldies bands that paid their dues.
This is great! To those who just keep saying you prefer the original, fine, it's on vinyl and CD and you can listen to it anytime you like. Does that mean these guys shouldn't keep exploring new ways of playing it? I don't think so. I'm really impressed with this new interpretation. So many 'revivals' just have some tired old guys with no new ideas playing stuff like they did when they were 22. This is much better than that!

How could anyone put a dislike on this? This is great, original and clever version of one of the top American standards of te 60s...John Gummoe's voice is just as pure as the day it was recorded in 1962....this is REAL music with a clever and creative spin....kudos to the group....keep playing !!!!!

They sung that song in Araneta Coliseum in Philippines, I was there, I was not on earth yet during their heyday, but I like their song.. I love it infact... classic and sensible...

This is AWESOME ! I am a child of the 60's and this was one of my favorite songs. The remake of this in my opinion shows what aging should be. Alive and exciting at youth, and mellow and relaxed with age. Hope that makes sense.
This is TERRIFIC. One of the great heartbreak hits, beautifully understate and totally moving. I very much like this arrangement -- which is just as good as Perry Bodkin's original. Great work, Mr. Gummoe. Congrats!

I loved this new rendition even more than the first, and like wine it has aged beautifully.
My mother used to sing this to me when I was a boy now ,I singing this to my children.She was so happy to see the cascades singing.

Yes I still have a copy of the original LP. I bought it in a cut-out bin in 1965. I have not played it in a long time.
This shows that even when we get older that we can still do it. I do like the younger version, but still gold is still gold.

over 40 years by the same group and still a very special song for alot of people myself included.
They aced it when the original was recorded. They've managed to ace it once again. Thumbs up for The Cascades, a timeless group.
