John Claude Gummoe - lead singer of The Cascades - composed "Rhythm of The Rain"

John Claude Gummoe was the founder and lead singer of The Cascades. In 1962, while still a sailor in the U.S. Navy, he wrote "The Rhythm of The Rain". It was recorded that year and became a major hit in 1963. John grew up only a couple of miles from Tom's home in Euclid, Ohio and they both graduated from Euclid Senior High School, though not in the same year. Tom stopped to visit with John at his home in Southern California to talk about the history of The Cascades and "Rhythm of The Rain."
