Man you are right , I have two 12 Kenwood Excelon shallow subwoofers in my 99 Silverado in a original Probox sealed box and it bangs deep and loud it tickles the top of my head on a Prime Fosgate 1200 and Pioneer 80 PRS
Jocab im running 2 md 8000 the 2ohm version. I got 4 dual 2ohm subs so 2 subs to each md 8000. Ive been wanting a Korean amp . So you think 1 salt 12k will do better than my 2 md8000.
So you'll be going from 2 x 8000 watt 2 ohm amps at 2 ohm to one 12,000 watt at 1 ohm? You may be slightly more cleaner bass output but doubt you'll see more power as 16k > 12k even with a little extra efficient/output from the korean 12k. If you went half ohm on the 12k then yes probably louder tho.
@@donjaun540 while it may sound "untrue" it is not. Shallow subs are for "shallow" mounting depths. They still need bix volume like any other sub. This sub in the video, still needs, at least 1 cube sealed. The common mistake many people make with shallow drivers, is thinking they do not need air space..totally incorrect. A slim subwoofer has less displacement, in the enclosure only. There are tons of information out there, Explaining this very myth, that shallow subs, work great in less 👍
@@donjaun540 sure, they're great for single cabs with less "mounting depth" where a conventional driver won't fit, depth wise. You still need the length and width, for volume.
Pair of 12s > One 15 cone area wise, the 15 has more motor force but I would think a pair of those 12s in a Optimal built custom box would shine better, but that depends on your amp/power ran.

Bro you always have great videos. Love them all. Keep it up as always.
Thanks Carl!
I can't wait for some one to make a 15" shallow mount subwoofer. They would make bank !
@@bopinthewap skar had one but they stopped making it

@@beerman9807 you should try the ones from stereo integrity
Hey Jacob! Great video! I was wondering if you still had the aluminum plate that came with the sub?
Thanks and no
I’m gonna be running two of those 12 shallows would you know what kind on amp i should get? So confused on amps
A 1,000 watt amp amzn.to/3CDSynO like that NVX would be great
how loud can a shallow mount get? also could put together a decent system only using shallow mount subs?

Nice just sent you a vid for you to use.
Looks a lot like JL slim sub. These are good in very small enclosure like single cab trucks. I'm sure they are way cheaper priced than JL.
Slim subwoofers, need air volume, just like a conventional subwoofer. Slim does t mean, it needs less volume from the enclosure.
@@Chuck_Sanders That's sounds untrue. I ran a pair of very slim kicker 12's in a single cab Ford and they hit hard. I was accused of having a cut cab.

@@Chuck_Sanders Yes absolutely. I love a conventional driver any day but those superthin woofers are cool when no room is available.
Who here can help me out with my question?
Would 2 alpine X 12s (900 watts rms)be louder than one Sundown U series 15?
