Absolutely incredible athlete, however I feel like everyone forgets about the Greco Roman heavyweight Aleksandr Karelin. In his 13 or so years of competing internationally he went 887-2 won 3 out of 4 golds at the Olympics and his final loss was 0-1was due to a technical rule change from a few months before, the first point he’d given up in 6 YEARS. If that isn’t the most dominant athlete of all time then I don’t know what is.
She's not even the most dominant athlete in contemporary weightlifting, Lasha is way more dominant. Let alone other sports ( ever heard like you said of Aleks Karelin, Teddy Riner, Bolt etc ) Just because she bloomed early and dominated for 3 years because there aren't many 150kg women doesn't mean she is the most dominant.
@@eddyededwin Of course she is "dominating" without the opponent that was dominating her while wieghing 40kg less... LWW = big fish in a extra shallow pond of athletes... Simply astonishing. These women are amazing, and Li Wenwen in particular. As a lifter myself its like thinking your mustang is a powerful vehicle, only to watch an F-16 annihilate the sound barrier right next to you at the stop light.
the most dominant olympian athlete ever is Alexander Karelin... just check the insane run of that man in the wikipedia I think he was like 10 year in a row without losing a single point
Not disagreeing but the field for Super Heavy Weightlifters and Wrestlers (especially Greco-Roman) is so tiny where as the people that have ever competeted on some level in running or swimming is literally many millions and that makes Bolt and Phelps accomplishments much more impressive.
Bro i been watchin li wen wen since last year I knew she was gonna be great at tokyo. Also cannot wait to see whats in store for her now as an Olympic champion hopefully she keeps training and achieving more on the platforms since more lifters now will try to beat her record so she will have some great rivals in the near future💯
Glad for this one. I remember mentioning her in another vid because she is just a terror. So far ahead that I don't think anyone legitimately competes with her, even Lasha has people who are close enough to him that a bad day can put him in 2nd.
On the last few lines of the video: In an interview from 2019, Meng Suping said she'd retire sooner. Still, she was worried that, prior to Li Wenwen's international debut, team China would lose the edge in the women's superheavy category so she insisted on competing for one more year. So, on the one hand, Meng probably wouldn't be a factor for Li to lift heavier because Meng treated Li as her successor. On the other hand, Tatianna probably can force Li to lift the heaviest she can.
Alexeev was at the top of the totem pole in the supers for a LONG time and he was never defeated, but fell victim to an injury. Even today years after his peak, his top CJ of 256 in a Russian national meet is a high bar for supers to exceed.
Dominance means something different to me. It’s about competition and longevity, also, at least in weightlifting. Otherwise, lifters with few/one off performances like Lovchev or Aramnau would be mentioned. Although obviously impressive, Wen hasn’t matched the lifts of Kashirina. And she hasn’t been through the Olympic cycles of say a Lasha, never mind a Dimas. Side by side, Lasha is clearly more dominant, having set the all time historical record. Having lesser competition is not the greatest yardstick of performance imo.
Exactly, you have to have a decent timespan or it doesn't mean shyte. If a one or two hit wonder was the most dominant just because they absolutely crushed their competition once or twice it wouldn't make sense. Just a current gen Z thing to think 1 or 2 years of dominance is an " era " xD
Nice. However, Kashirina has lifted more. No one has lifted as much as Lasha, so he's the GOAT. With that said, I'm a big fan of Li Wenwen. I think she'll surpass Kashirina's records in the future.
