    Definitely super important to value every benefit on the Platinum (tangible & intangible) and make an assessment on how much value you'd personally get. I don't have the platinum yet but I live in SEA and there's a Centurion Lounge in my home airport so I think it'll make sense as my travel starts to accelerate hopefully soon. Great video Jacob!

    • @JacobsPointsAndProfit
      @JacobsPointsAndProfit  2 месяца назад

      Yeah I don't want to trick myself into thinking the card is worth it if I don't use most of what the card offers. The Centurion Lounge is pretty great in SEA and so is the United Club!

    Great that you are able to get value. I have had issues two times where I would be charged twice in the same month and lose out on credits. Happened with Walmart + and audible. I don't really value Walmart or the hotel credits, and they also removed the audible benefit. Getting into lounges has been mostly miss for me. I canceled this year.

    • @JacobsPointsAndProfit
      @JacobsPointsAndProfit  2 месяца назад +1

      That's frustrating about being charged twice in the same month, especially for a service you don't want like Walmart. The wait time at lounges has definitely been an issue for me in the U.S. When I'm traveling internationally I almost never have to wait

      Sure! It's good to keep some of your older cards open. You also have the ability to downgrade the card to a Gold or Green to save money on the annual fee

      Exactly! No one needs to have this card forever. If you want the card, the welcome offer totally makes the card worth it in year 1 and then you can decide later if it's truly worth it to keep around without any bonus

    I really love the benefits and perks but I felt exhausted trying to find ways how to use the credits. I love Amex customer service (they’re the best) but I felt like I don’t wanna spend $700 just to use it. I got a retention offer even though my renewal is not until April but I already decided to cut this card and maybe get the green to get the sub. My main issue with this card is, it is not for daily use rather it is more like a benefit card and I need a card that will help me earn points.

    • @JacobsPointsAndProfit
      @JacobsPointsAndProfit  28 дней назад

      Using all of the credits takes a lot of thought. It's definitely a benefit card and I really only use it for purchasing flights. I have many other cards that help me earn points faster than this one. Before you cancel or downgrade this card, remember to keep it open one full year from when you received the retention offer as the terms state Amex might take the points back if you cancel the card early

U mention PP, global entry u have on other cards so put a $ on ur list, U get extended warranty, trip cancellation, trip interruption, and baggage insurance which should put a $ on that coverage also. AMEX offers is a hit or mis..... uber cash from ur point should be $200 used

    Since you travel overseas a lot, and have access to Fine Hotels and Resort, why don't you stay in luxury properties? There are some very affordable options internationally

    • @JacobsPointsAndProfit
      @JacobsPointsAndProfit  2 месяца назад +2

      You're right, there's great options internationally. The way I've viewed it so far is that I like getting a good deal with also minimize out of pocket costs. When I saw a $250/night FHR hotel in Malaysia vs a $50/night Hilton, I booked the Hilton because over 2 nights my out of pocket cost was $100 instead of $300 ($500 - $200 credit). I know there's more factors like the upgrade and additional property credits, but so far I just haven't booked anything yet

    • @LK_EBM
      @LK_EBM 2 месяца назад

      @@JacobsPointsAndProfitThat makes sense with that price difference. I guess I'm comparing that $250/night vs. the $400-600+/nights for FHR properties here in USA.

    • @JacobsPointsAndProfit
      @JacobsPointsAndProfit  2 месяца назад

      @@LK_EBM Yeah that's fair to do that. Unfortunately, the USA is one of the most expensive places to travel

    Sounds like if you can only have one credit card the Platinum card would be the card because if you think about it. It comes with everything. None of the credit card RUclips appreciate it because they have a lot of cards that offer similar benefits. So to the everyday man would you rather have one card that do it all or 10 different cards.

    • @JacobsPointsAndProfit

    its not worth it after the first year. the sign up bonus covers the first year. i suppose if you break your phone that insurance payment makes it worth it, but you can get $1000 worth of phone insurance on other cheap cards.

    • @JacobsPointsAndProfit
      @JacobsPointsAndProfit  2 месяца назад

      I agree that it's worth it for sure in the first year, but it'll all depend on your travel and lifestyle habits after that. And I also have no problem with someone saying this card it's worth the price, but sometimes paying more has it's benefits. For example, I wasn't using Walmart+ before this card, but now I would gladly pay $100/year because it has made my life so much better. That's just one small example, but if the credits fit your life then it makes sense to keep this card

    • @stevedice5963
      @stevedice5963 2 месяца назад

      @@JacobsPointsAndProfit the $95 credit cards give you a nice sign up bonus to go toward a business class seat, which gets you lounge access. they offer many of the same travel perks, car rental waiver insurance. etc.. i used to write off the cost of the platinum to my business now that is done.
