Thanks for the video - Which card would you recommend for a family for day to day usage that will also give travel benefits? (open to other cards as well).
i agree with you on the gold and plat card but definitely feel like the hilton aspire should be on the same level due to benefits and diamond status and equal playing field with Marriotts top card.
I totally disagree with the every day preferred being so low. If someone doesn’t spend much at restaurants and hits that 30 every month, that card is a raging earner. The assessment here that it’s the same card as the blue cash preferred is incorrect, because the everyday preferred gets reward points, the other cash back. I’ve been considering canceling the gold for the every day preferred because I don’t spend as much on restaurants anymore and every single other dollar I spend would get way more rewards than the gold. Getting the credits for the gold is more annoying to me than anything. My Delta platinum can handle flights and restaurants and the every day preferred could handle everything else with the lowest every day dollar getting 1.5.
I've always wondered if you linked your SunPass or EZpass account to an Everyday Preferred if people plagued by daily tolls would almost automatically trigger the bonus every month
@@Adiscretefirm I think the answer is no. At least here in Florida, we have to put money on our EZ Pass account. That counts as one transaction. Then as you are driving, the tolls pull from your prepaid account, not from the credit card.
I'm not here to defend the Everyday Preferred but the reason people might get it is because they think they can get at least 2 cents per point if they transfer them out, Member Rewards people vs cash back people
So then the groceries would still be valued the same at 6x and higher with gas at 4x, I saw it the same exact way, a way to continue earning membership points or even keep membership rewards active.
I hit the cap on groceries by June on my blue cash back. It’s led me to maybe want the gold but I really would rather have the same card with higher caps.
I know people like to pile on the Amex Platinum as a coupon card. I actually don't mind it as much. I'm actually going to cancel the Amex Gold after my first year. The $10 monthly dining credit is hard for me to use. The Ubercash credit is ok since it's automatically loaded into the Uber app. Might just bite the bullet and get the BCP for that 6% on US Supermarkets/streaming, and 3% Transit/Gas. Easily would make up the $95AF.
Holding the Gold Card for one year is not a bad option at all. SUB + multiplier points then getting out before you get hit with the fee. I do like the BCP as a transition card for food spending without the commitment of the Gold Card into the future. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate your knowledge and videos. I currently have two U.S..Bank credit cards with only a $15,000 credit limit combined. I'm looking for a card to just increase my overall credit limit. My credit score is currently at 745 no bad marks and perfect payment history. What card would you recommend I was thinking the BCP or Chase or Citi, I'm ultimately wanting a higher starting credit limit and the card will be mainly used as a catch all around town and online like Amazon Prime.
@@davidsharp6939higher limit depending on relationship, for each depends on what value you looking for, cash back or points and eco system, for me would be Amex for higher limits and MR points, but for sure your preference.
@@davidsharp6939get both the Prime and BCP. My wife has the Prime and it's a workhorse but I have the BCP, Gold, Platinum, Delta Platinum and Delta Reserve and use them in tandem with my Hilton Business and my Navy Fed Flagship and PenFed Pathfinder and Discover Miles for travel.
I personally will rank these three Amex cards as S-tier card: Platinum Delta Reserve Marriott Brilliant And these two Amex cards as A-tier cards: Delta Platinum Hilton Aspire I actually have all five of these cards but even better, I have the business version of the Delta cards (Reserve & Platinum).
@@daniels6437 I am 100% team travel. However, I always knew about how good the Amex Blue Cash Preferred is. Although I will rank it under A-tier instead of S-tier.
@@TheRDGuarantee If you have all four cards the answer is YES. You get automatic Gold Medallion status every year because each card will give you $2,500 MQDs for a total of $10,000 MQDs. I actually have three of those cards for a total of $7,500 MQDs. I get the remaining MQDs through Delta purchases. I have the two versions of the Delta Reserve and one Delta Platinum Business. These cards pays for the AFs by itself with all the statement credits and Companion Certificate.
I don't do 12k on food, but more on dining out and I use both credits on GrubHub and Uber Eats since I upgraded from green last year. I wasn't eligible for the Gold bonus, just to upgrade, so I took it. I hear that the Gold fee might be going up and they might add Resy to the mix. I hope not on both. If not, I will either downgrade back to Green or cancel it completely. I have the Blue Business Plus to keep my MR points alive.
I’d really like to see some quality comparison videos on the two in that case. I just don’t see how the gold card outperforms the everyday preferred IF restaurant spending is low and you hit the 30 uses per month. If those two things aren’t both factored, then I’d agree.
Blue cash every day is S tier imo. Blue cash every day is possibly S but only if you max out in groceries to cover the 95 annual fee (it could be argued the welcome bonus covers it for 3 years though).
haha, I was very torn on the Aspire. I think it could be incredible for a certain type of traveler who will use the $400 statement credits in each year. I don't know how much value that people will be able to recoup with the $200 flight credit divided quarterly. It's not a bad card, I just wish some of the restrictions were lessened on the credit usage.
@@TheRDGuarantee I agree that I think you missed the mark on the Hilton cards. For starters, the Aspire card even if you do a poor job with the credits is still a good card. Likely B-ish range at worst case of use. If you do manage the credits its arguably the greatest credit card value wise on the market. So a C is way too low for a card the community consensus is that its one of the best. Next, the Surpass you also undersell by focusing on the annual fee and lack of lounge access. You missed the fact the new $50 quarterly credit can be used on gift cards so for $51 every quarter ($1 in fees) you order a physical gift card shipped directly to you. This makes the Surpass a card where Hilton essentially pays you $45 a year to hold it, gives gold status, and after $15000 in spend gives a free night certificate. Insane value. Both Aspire and Surpass are easy S tier cards.
@@TheRDGuarantee Well I think the one free weekend night alone is already covering the annual fees even if you don't use other credits - any Waldorf/Conrad/LXR hotel weekend night can easily go up to more than $600 (if not $1,000) give or take, and keep in mind that you get the free night in the beginning year you open the card - unlike many other hotel cards giving it to you after paying the annual fee starting from the second year.

It’s incorrect to claim that the AMEX Gold Uber credit is for Uber Eats. It loads as Uber cash to your Uber account. So it can be used for either rides or Uber eats. So one ride or one pickup meal per month you are good to go. The dining credit is a little more sketchy. But I just buy lunch once a month at shake shack and call it good.
I have to disagree with this list myself. This sounds like it was rated in the preference of the author, not the average person. I have some of these cards, and anyone showing any interests should choose based on their personal lifestyle, not this video. Amex Platinum is not an top tier or good choice card for an individual or family that travels once or twice a year. There is no real benefit to that card to counter the $695 annual fee. That should be F amongst other travel cards chosen for higher categories in this video. Business travelers benefit from this list.
TBH, none of these seem that appealing unless you travel a lot, and even then you're jumping through hoops and spending more just to earn "rewards" that probably don't outweigh simply being a smart shopper.
The fact that the travel multiplier works for third parties such as bookings, priceline, expedia etc imo makes this huge. No need to use the branded travel portal or anything, almost always getting the lowest price and still getting 3x back? Sounds great to me.
You did a really good job. got us the important info without boring us. Nice work.
I appreciate that!
On the Blue Cash Preferred, only the 6x for groceries is capped at $6,000 per year. The 6x for streaming and 3x for gas are uncapped.
Yes the BCP is also great for gas especially at Sam's club and ExxonMobil when you're a Wal-Mart + member because you get 10 cent.
