The fact that the guy who goes alone with a potential serial killer in a back room somewhere in the middle of nowhere thinks thinks he will live longer than shwabadi is just hilarious.🤣
Awesome podcast as always!
I'm so glad they're consistent
While Cleopatra wasn't Egyptian, but Greek/Iranian, she was the first of her dynasty to actually learn to speak the language of egyptians at the time. Also I love to hear more history.
I never was very interested in history, but Rustages delivery made me genuinely interested and I ended up reading about various kings and warfare strategies for 3 hours.
Fun fact William the Conqueror was actually a distant cousin of Edward the Confessor but when he died without any heirs a regency council appointed Harald Godwinson who was the last Anglo Saxon king as they didnt want William who was a Norman to be king. And also William only invaded and was even blessed by right of the Pope to basically conquer England by right
I just love the over the top titles that Near Eastern monarchs had, especially Assyrian kings
"King of the Universe"
"The weapon of the great gods"
"The great flood which none can oppose"
I think the Aztecs from Mexico would be an interesting topic.
Aztecs mythos would be an amazing topic
36:11 CANUTE!!! IT WAS LITERALLY A POINT IN VINALAND SAGA
Still love that intro😊
(Count Dracul The Third Vladimir Tepish.) Aka the man who (Brands Stoker) would eventually use as inspiration for Dracula. Another cool thing about Brandon stoker was he was a part of the famous cult the Golden Dawn which is also a guild in black clover
Goat Rustage and Shwabs, two wonderful men with beautiful personalities. Love you lads🎉
21:47 was NOT expecting this to go to African history. GOOD 👏🏾 STUFF 👏🏾
Gotta be the most British ep yet and love filling holes with hobbies
This has to be my favorite episode yet! I love the story of William the conquerer. My ancestors actually moved to England shortly after he took over lol.
I needed this on a Monday
don’t worry about how long it is unless it works against your schedule. we are hear to listen and if there is more to listen to that’s great.
Need more parts of this. Would be cool to have a roman episode
Talk about some of Leonidas' badass quotes, such as their single word response "IF"
The Indian subcontinent has a lot of cool and legendary kings and rulers. If you want to mention them. Vikramadetya , Rani of Jhansi, Ashoka the Great, Tipu Sultan, Akbar the Great, Jahangir so and so on. And this is without mentioning the various legends we have in hinduism of mighty rulers. Even if this doesnt see the light of the day, it is such awesome to hear your favourite music artists be so passionate about something i am also fascinated by
Rustage : "I wanna talk about William the Conqueror, but I know most of my audience isn't british"
Me, a french listener : "aah, my favorite part"
always so fun seeing you and Shwabadi talk !!
Love this podcast. Keep looking forward to each monday to see what topic is next
Glad to hear my county's history here 🇿🇦
Also nice to hear of Darius the Great taking over from Bardiya the Usurper.
Fun fact: Currently helping my dad write a historical fiction about Darius' failure to conquer Athens at Battle of Marathon. Hope Rustage will read it. (~150 pages)
really enjoyed this episode, more please!
Sejong the Great was one the best scientist in Korea. I am super happy that you all did not forget Sejong the Great. Thank you. 🥰
This might be my favorite ep, it was great.
I'd love you to mention some leaders from ancient greek city states in the next parts of this episode!
Love the new episode and I've been loving the podcast! Keep up the good work
I love this episode, it taught me a lot and it's great
Awesome! William the Conqueror, Edward III, Henry II, Henry V are among my all time favorites
Once again a very interesting video and it's always nice to see how you discuss topics. Those that are generally important are always good. keep it up rustage and shwabadi. That's also good to know about the historical institutions such as King Elisabeth or the origins of the great Monarchy.
Honestly this is what keepse busy lately I don't watch TV 😂😅 how fun and this is amazing 💪🏽 hobby ho ho!!! !!!!!
This was a great ep, looking forward to part two!
I'd love to see you guys talk about south asian history in the next one
The Ozzimandius quote is one of the most gangster stories of all time
BANGER EPISODE 🎉❤❤❤❤
Amazing episode! Ending was top notch 🤣
Always love the screaming outro 😁
Not a king but one Age of history I’m really interested in is the Golden Age of Islam. There are so many things we still use today from that age and the architecture, language and science developments were incredible. One thing we still use today for instance is words like Alcohol or Alchemy. The “Al” in those words are Arabic.
late to this one, but still Great episode!! looking forward to the next history one
So interesting 👀
More of the awesome podcast of rustage and shawbs?! Yes please
BANGER EPISODE
This episode had me in tears from the start 😂
Your bond is ultimate and on the death thing neither rustage nor Shwabadi are unreplacable to us all.
Rustage! Whos your all time favorite English monarch? Mine is Edward III! The real life King Arthur!
Growing up in Hawaii and going to a Hawaiian school has taught me a lot about King Kamehameha the Great. He was born on the night that Halleys comet passed over the earth in the 1700s. His mother named him Pai'ea, or hard-shelled crab, after dropping him on his head. He was prophesied to conquer and unite all of the islands, but his uncle 'Alapa'inui didn't want that to happen. Because of this, his mother instructed Nae'ole to take him and run far away, in fear of 'Alapa'inui coming to kill him. Years after this, Nae'ole raised young Pai'ea for a good chunk of his life, teaching him basic skills, like fishing. He was given the name Kamehameha, or the Lonly one, by Alapainui. He was then trained by Kekuhaupi'o, who taught him how to become a warrior. He went on to overturn the Naha stone, a 2.5 ton stone, which whoever lifts it would conquer all the islands. Then, Captain Cook shows up with his ships, who we think is Lono with his Floating Islands, makes them give him a lot of food and women for tiny amounts of metal like nails, which we didn't have back then. A lot of people thought they ate Cook, but that is because when they killed him for shooting a chiefs son, they burnt him in an imu, which was associated with cooking. We did this to get his bones, a common practice, which held mana, or power, within them. Now, Kamehameha, the 7 foot 2.5 ton lifting man who can make your girl his 31st wife in an instant won his battles fair and square, Is what we were taught. But while the opposing team was sharpening his spears, his men were loading their guns. Imagine being a warrior against Kamehameha, who has no idea what a gun or a cannon is. All you hear is a log screaming and now your friend has been smited by the gods. Smited? Smitten? Smote? I don't know. He also used the tactic of having your men at the top of a mountain, so when your enemies come up, they will already be tired. He proceeded to then push them off of the mountain. He has a pretty interesting story. Also, no one knows where his bones are hidden, because he ordered the people who hid them to kill themselves immediately after
Good episode. Would love to hear you guys talk about Saladin
Eyy love from South Africa❤
I love this episode! I don't know much about kings but I like Charles IV bcs he has done a lot for our country. He build university in Prague and many more stuff!
I think the King who went to the ocean was Cnut lol
First Hobby Hole two parter😮
Hope there's more
Thanks for another amazing episode.
Just wanted to say that u should look into the India/pakistan region empires like the Maurya empire, the Mughals and the Gupta empire if u haven’t they r really interesting and Asoka is my personal favourite emperor and the story of him becoming a Buddhist after the Kalinga war is incredibly fascinating.
Also a fun fact the language Tamil which is still very prominent in south in India is older than Sanskrit which is considered amongst one of the first languages
Genghis Khan was so interesting in his tactics, how quickly he built his empire, and how he advanced humanity if exchanging artisans and culture between the East and West. He made the basics of military code that major militaries used today.
History is my favorite subject and I would love multiple parts + different parts of history & mythology. Fun Fact: The new Prince of Persia uses that story for the plot of the game
Wu Zetian is one of my favourite monarchs, she was the only empress of china. She was absolutely cutthroat and her story is so interesting!!
God I wish these were longer
Gotta try Thailand!!!
Please go through Napolean with the revolution. I find them very enlightening and pivotal to history of not just frence but the world.
Since mark mentioned Central America I would love for you guys to do Belize. My mom is from Belize so wouldn’t mind learning more
Love the pod, much love from Hawaii. I like history but im really bad at dates and what things happened when. King Kamehameha is person who unified Hawaii. He was said to be more than 7 ft. tall (thats one piece character height).
"I'm Barrak Obama, my favorite hobby is doing drone strilkes"
Rustage i think the senator that your thinking of was Cassius Dio who basically one of the primary historian of roman history
The guy who went to the sea to show he was mortal was Cnut, a danish king of england. It was in vinland saga but it actually happened
One thing I remember being taught about the Henry II / Thomas Becket story is that the first time one of the guys hit him with a sword, it snapped over his head. I don't know how true it is, but it's one of my favourite details.
You should do a Kings and Queens episode with someone from a country with a rich history so they can participate in the conversation. I don't know if you know anybody from Spain, but since it's my country I would love it if you talked about it.
Hello from Indiana
Dude, now i really want them to discuss indian kings and stuff.
Lots of Chinesse rulers and Japanese that r extremely interesting
If y'all do another, I need to see y'all research qin shi Huang. His life is wild
The king about the sea was Canute the Great from Vinland saga
Ah yes, the hole we down for a hobby with the DM
Rustage's description for the intro sounds like a bit from "this is not happening".
"MEN FEAR TIME, YET TIME FEARS THE PYRAMIDS"
Since you guys enjoy the whole civilizations disappearing you guys should call the Fall Of Civilizations dude for a collab, his podcast is suuuper interesting!
My favorite king is Sumblum or (Sumble), he has funny name.
There were legit Pirat kings and queens in history over the world would love an episode of that, just people who conquered other ships/crews and went basically to battle against nations military forces and got away for years
Rustage is tweakin.. hard..
Rest in peace shwabadi 😢 didn't even know can't wait for the coffin podcast
Should definitely have on tekking for ancient Egypt
Aztec would be hype.
Plus the Library of Alexandria was burned so we had a real life Ohara buster call situation, but no giants to retrieve the books at the bottom of the preverbial lake.
I listened to this while doing an animation, totally didn't effect it XD ( in a good way XD )
I have been FALLING for 30 MINUTES!
some of the kings i enjoyed learning about were richard leonheart, ivan the terrible and "king Stefan Uros IV Dusan the mighty" who is not just the greatest leader in history of serbia but also the last ruling king of serbia because his demise ends up in breaking up of his serbian empire and serbians eventually become turkish slaves in very short period since XD
I hope that at some point they get bro Tiny on here
33:53 Yeah, from the Alexander The Great stans out there
Hey I know this is really off topic but do you happen to have the devil fruit list from one piece DND and if so do you mind sharing it?
That william the conquer dude is like my great great great great great great great great great grandfather idk if that is to much or to little greats
Regions you haven't talked about: China, Japan, Mesoamerica (Maya, Inca, Aztec, don't know if there is anything historically accurate, but it would interest me xD), American Indigenous Chieftains?? German Kings or more Kings that reigned in Germany? Switzerland, Austria? Scandinavian Jarls/Kings?
Sundiata from Mandhe or old Mali
As a descent of someone Who had the job of Viking. Not all Vikings are evil not even remotely close the word Viking is an occupation. It was a job not all people in the tribe were Vikings.
Definetely another episode of this xDDD
Wasnt Alexander the Great the one who salted the feilds in Carthage after he conquered so that nothing would grow???? That shit is cold blooded af
I don't really know anything about Prussian leader can you tell me more about them?
Can you look into some Native American leaders, that would be so cool. Maybe some in the Ojibwa tribe, bc I’m in it, or any of the popular ones. I love your podcasts, isekai dnd is probably my favorite next to the og OP dnd.
Where would you suggest I begin if I want to go down this particular hobby?
Talking about monarchs and not bringing on King Charles as special guest... I'm disappointed :(
But in all seriousness, amazing episode! I love history and two of my favorite people talking about history is just amazing ^^
good day 🥛
The Russian Tsars, specifically Ivan the 3rd "the Great" and his son Ivan the 4th "the terrible" two very contrasting rulers. Ivan the great was the girst russian monarch to turn russia into an empire and swapped the title of russian monarch iver from grand prince to tsar and then his son, very terrible human being, was the girst ruler crowned tsar of the russian empire. Both very interesting historical figures. Same for the last tsar of russia nicholas the 2nd.
Okey so hear me out. Polish kings, to be exact the ones from "Piast" dynasty and from "Jagielon" dynasty because later on there are so shenanigans with polish noblemen chosing the king and after his death they just chose another one. But returning to dynasties in the second one there is a female king (from what i remember she was a daughter of a king without male Descendants but for some reason everyone just decided to make her the new king). The history of founding poland is also interesting. Prince Mieszko I did it (he wasn't a king but his son became one in the year he died). Tying in to the empires vanishing it kind of happened to poland. It was one of the most influencial countries in Europe but diseapered for 123 years after Prussia (Germany), Russia and Austria ganged up on it
