The moment I heard them say Darren Shan, my eyes immediately darted to the Demonata series on my bookshelf. I always thought it was just a lesser known series that no one really cared about because I don't hear anyone talk about it. But it was the first series I ever read, and it was my gateway drug into reading and writing. A lot of my first stories mimicked Darren Shan's style (it's adapted and changed a lot now that I've read so many other books and series). But that series holds such a special place in my heart; it felt amazing to hear two of my favourite artists mention it
Darren Shan books were a massive part of my middle school years especially The Demonata. It grew my love for that style of horror and I even draw inspiration from it a lot when writing my dnd setting. Artemis Fowl, The Edge Chronicles and Pendragon were also massive favorites of mine growing up
Rustage I just wanted to say thank you. I found out about you through tekking when you guys did episode one of one piece DnD and I have listened to every single episode about 3 times now... I have kept up with One Piece DnD marines and Isekai DnD and I have listened to all of your songs and I even listen to you on pandora... Because of this episode I went and listened to the audio book version of the entire first law series and then the age of madness, and it was absolutely amazing!!!!! Thank you for all of the hours of entertainment!!!!!!! I listen to all of theese while I work, I work third shift construction and it really helps the nights fly by!!!!
The draft section was a lot of fun and got me wanting to try out my own. Plot: Yoshihiro Togashi (because I love Hunter x Hunter and I think the Chimera Ant and Succession War arcs are some of if not the best plotted stories in fiction), Characters: Wildbow (probably my favorite author and a large part of that is due to how well realized his characters are), Prose: Pat Rothfus (I usually don't care about prose but holy shit Kingkiller's use of language was sublime!), Worldbuilding: Q Hayashida (This one was the toughest because I love hard magic systems but I ultimately went with her because Rustage already got BrandoSando and because I think Dorohedoro's use of atmosphere and just overall vibe to its world is perfect). Funny thing is, with the exception of Rothfus (who's pretty locked in) you could shuffle the other three and still get a guaranteed banger
it really is the most genuine mr shark has ever sounded on RUSTAGE2 LMAO also very much like the 2 marks last ep and now 2 daniels time to find 2 shwabadis
As someone who is a senior in high school that’s writing a story, I really like this episode. I have no professional experience with story writing, but for the past two and a half years I’ve just been doing trial and error. But anyway, great episode!
You might be right right when you talked about how when we are younger we read quite a lot but eventually stopped, only to pick it back up later in adult life. I feel like I'm in that middle spot of having stopped reading but probably soon to pick it up again. I recently read a book in my class that was required for it's curriculum, and that kinda made me wanna pick up reading again with some good books. Such an interesting podcast!
I am in love with this podcast series! I’m more of a lurker, I watch, a lot. But this series is so good I’m just dropping a comment for engagement so YT shares it with more folks 😂
Bro i heard Rustage mention Darren Shan and i had to pull out my entire collection of the Cirque Du Freak books, i am now back down that rabbit hole. Thank you for brain blasting me back to this series. It was His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman that made me love reading, absolutely fantastic books.
Daniel Rustage looks like he could be Daniel Greene's brother who got sent to be raised in England (or vise versa America), so it's really funny you have the same first name.
It felt really bad to hear that yall didn’t like Mistborn era 2 as I absolutely loved the setting and characters. Also been a lifelong Dresden fan from his just trying to survive misunderstandings, to stopping the world from ending. Can’t wait for 12 months and Mirror Mirror to bring us more of it. That said, I did just download book one of the first law because you guys talked it up so much. Sounds like it will be really good based on the way all three of you talked about it.
I’m of a similar opinion my self a girl I know always raved about it and eventually she gave me her copy off storm front and I was hooked from then on like you said from the only wizard in the Chicago phone book just doing his best to survive to now as one of the most powerful wizards around.
I only recently got back into reading books again (well I started 2 years ago, but I haven’t read the most books most because the ones I’ve read are long as hell) and the book that got me back into reading is this fantasy book series/Web serial called The Wandering Inn.
I’ve been playing the devils luck card game with the extension with some of my buddies. Thanks for helping me get them into these kind of games! Cheers!
I honestly don't know if it's a good book series compared to other fantasy... but I have such fond memories of readin Garth Nix's The Keys to the Kingdom series.
I feel like Rustage would like the fantasy book I'm writing (whenever I finish it) as I keep giving my characters really hard decisions as that's what I like in books myself but it's also got a lot of political intrigue. I kind of want to pick up a Joe Abercrombie book now but I'm scared it's going to be too gory for me
i remember being in study hall as the teacher would hold basically a mini church group reading cirque du freak and especially Demonica would get so many dirty looks and told study hall was for homework only so many times
I'm a big fan of the Dresden Files with a few notable exceptions to some of Jim's character decisions, a lot of them towards the end. Murphy was unironically fridged, Harry performed a textbook definition of a genocide with the wave of his hands, and I think giving Marcone magic power really dumpstered the idea of his character being able to survive and thrive as a normal mortal.
I concur mostly but I suspect that the next book will actually be very refreshing as the last two books have just harry getting dragged through the mud
On the topic of Dresden Files I love it soooooooooooo much but I can understand why people would be a little buggy on the last three or so books I liked them but you know a war arc is gonna hit different for everyone especially is your more into it for the urban fantasy aspects or the psychological thriller
I haven't had time to watch the video yet, but if I had to guess. People's lives are hard, and many people need an escape, or a distraction. Whether it's movies, books, or games.
So i hate to be a Wax & Wayne apologist, but Mistborn era two gets significantly better as Sanderson writes it. Bands of Mourning is a fun Indiana jones'esque adventure and Shadows of Self is a fantastic murder mystery with a tragic ending. Now i know release says those should be flipped , but Sanderson finished Shadows of Self after Bands of Mourning. The last metal is the best of the four
My reaction to hearing Rustage have read Gone was overdramatic, I enjoyed the series even though I am pretty sure I did not finish it. It feels like no one has read Gone, I have a friend who reads EVERYTHING who has not even heard of it.
Daniel Greene is the reason I read the way of Kings. Daniel Rustage is the reason I am reading the first law. The Daniel’s reignited my love for reading as an adult.
love that we went from Daniel, Mark and Mark, to Daniel, Mark, and Daniel
Oh my god you’re right LOL that is poetic
Now we need an episode with Daniel, Mark, Mark and Daniel
Imagine if the guests are only going to be Marks or Daniels
Wake up babe down the hobby hole just released a new episode🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
I’m really loving this new podcast! Having guest during a lot of these segments, makes it even more enjoyable!!
More of this amazing podcast?! Yes please! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Been loving this series so far!!

Welcome back to another episode of the Daniel(s) & Mark Show! (Seriously the best thing ever, keep it up bruv! ❤)
The draft section was a lot of fun and got me wanting to try out my own.

Ah yes, back down the great hole of hobbying with the DDM (Daniel Daniel Mark)
Make these longer it's so interesting to listen to you talk about hobbies and such.
it really is the most genuine mr shark has ever sounded on RUSTAGE2 LMAO
also very much like the 2 marks last ep and now 2 daniels time to find 2 shwabadis
i love how happy danial G seemed hearing you guys talk about this with him
what an amazing episode

i like that the last video with 2 marks and now 2 daniels
All these books sound so good
I am in love with this podcast series! I’m more of a lurker, I watch, a lot. But this series is so good I’m just dropping a comment for engagement so YT shares it with more folks 😂
Rustage's draft sounds the most interesting to me
I love this podcast ❤ thanks for making Mondays good! Keep up the good work
I look so forward to these
You should talk about professional wrestling 👀 SuperEyepatchWolf as a guest would be clutch too 🔥🔥
eyyy Darren Shan a big part of my reading journey
and same with Gone!
Loved relating to somebody liking Darren Shan. I'm American, so not many people over here have read them.
Daniel Rustage looks like he could be Daniel Greene's brother who got sent to be raised in England (or vise versa America), so it's really funny you have the same first name.
I was just reading the well of ascension 😂😂😂
Waking up in the hobby hole today and I can’t complain
The best Podcast out there!
I know they didn't ask for ours this time but I'd choose;
World: Derek Landy
Plot: O.R. Melling
Characters: Joseph Delaney
Pros: R.A. Salvatore
As a fantasy story reader it was Doctor who books that got me into fantasy. And I learned how to read
I need moreeeee❤
So rustage you mentioned him when are getting the tolarian professor on the podcast
Yoo I called it last week, went from double Mark to double Daniel
It felt really bad to hear that yall didn’t like Mistborn era 2 as I absolutely loved the setting and characters. Also been a lifelong Dresden fan from his just trying to survive misunderstandings, to stopping the world from ending. Can’t wait for 12 months and Mirror Mirror to bring us more of it.

Tough call, but I’m gonna take the perspective of the pro and go with Daniel.
~_~
Rustage potentially reading Red Rising is goated asf.
I've got the first volume of Mistborn that I've been meaning to read
My favorite fantasy series has been "The Rangers Apprentice" since I was a child.
The rangers apprentice is a great book series not my favorite but great
I’ve been playing the devils luck card game with the extension with some of my buddies. Thanks for helping me get them into these kind of games! Cheers!
Im reading the Red Rising series currently. It's really good im on book 3
The best rising podcast
Scott Lynch, Lies of locke lamora is best friendship/bromance i've read.
I really enjoyed the books Epic and Saga.
I honestly don't know if it's a good book series compared to other fantasy... but I have such fond memories of readin Garth Nix's The Keys to the Kingdom series.
I wish I knew half of the authors to make a call on whose draft wins. But I love Sanderson so on principle, Rustage wins
I need tekking101 to be a guest on this in the future
They said he will be in the One Piece video
The keys to the kingdom series is amazing
garth nix is such a good author overall tbh
I think I would've said "Mary Shelley" for Rustage's Plot
I feel like Rustage would like the fantasy book I'm writing (whenever I finish it) as I keep giving my characters really hard decisions as that's what I like in books myself but it's also got a lot of political intrigue.
I kind of want to pick up a Joe Abercrombie book now but I'm scared it's going to be too gory for me
i don't see a lot people talk about Trudi Canavan Sonea it's so good
i remember being in study hall as the teacher would hold basically a mini church group reading cirque du freak and especially Demonica would get so many dirty looks and told study hall was for homework only so many times
The Dresden files by Jim butcher is one of the greatest set of books in my personal opinion would recommend
Last week was 2 Mark’s and Daniel, now it’s 2 Daniel’s and a Mark
On the topic of Dresden Files I love it soooooooooooo much but I can understand why people would be a little buggy on the last three or so books I liked them but you know a war arc is gonna hit different for everyone especially is your more into it for the urban fantasy aspects or the psychological thriller
how we gonna go from having the only guest so far on mark and daniels podcast being mark, to the second guest on daniel and marks podcast being daniel
This auto played while I was half asleep, there's me thinking where the hell is norman
I haven't had time to watch the video yet, but if I had to guess. People's lives are hard, and many people need an escape, or a distraction. Whether it's movies, books, or games.
When are we getting Rustage on an episode of Shuffle Up & Play?
So i hate to be a Wax & Wayne apologist, but Mistborn era two gets significantly better as Sanderson writes it. Bands of Mourning is a fun Indiana jones'esque adventure and Shadows of Self is a fantastic murder mystery with a tragic ending. Now i know release says those should be flipped , but Sanderson finished Shadows of Self after Bands of Mourning. The last metal is the best of the four

Anyone else heard of The Wandering Inn? That would be my favorite fantasy novel series.
Hi rustage love you man
Daniel Greene is the reason I read the way of Kings. Daniel Rustage is the reason I am reading the first law.
The Daniel’s reignited my love for reading as an adult.
This felt like a mini ova DnD isekai session lol and like Briggs says "Scifi is my favourite fantasy"
What's the book called, java crumbi???
Joe Abercrombie, he's the author.
read the robin hobb books. very court fantasy
Darren shan is great
This is so jarring seeing Daniel this sane while, I watch him every week be like the most chaotic person in the world.
Rustage had my draft except Agatha Christie. I would have gone Fonda Lee or Zamil Ahktar for plot.
My dream would be to play a dnd campaign ran by rustage or daniel greene set in the malazan universe (from steven erikson)
Daniel Greene is here I already know I'm gonna love this
What makes rustage so addicting
Wow you three should do more epizodes together, this was so entertaining
Nux episode has to happen
This was great. But rustage you have to let the guest talk.
FINALLY SOMEONE REFERENCED GONE AND DARRAN SHAN BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY GONE
Hello there 🦆
Daniel Green got me into the dresden files man it's good
I prefer 1st person for immersion in books. I'm going for Daniel Greene cause I love worldbuilding/lore
Not to be an advertisement but my cousin has written an zombie survival book that runs from different perspectives no main characters
Good way of framing an apocalypse scenario. Give enough time to get attached to a character knowing full well how uncertain their fate is.
Finally they get to podcast outside isekai dnd
If we don't get an episode on holes I'm dropping the show.
Mark Shwabadi is gay/bi?! LETSGO
I knew he'd bring on Daniel Green for fantasy reading
Two British men interview famous author
hi.
:) Daniel Greene draft W
Daniel green is so cute
“Oh my god, they killed the wizard”
