Your take on Bremner is highly questionable. He was so much more than 'gritty'. He was also very skilful, a magnificent distributer and scored many magnificent goals. Both were hugely talented players. I'm not aware of any particular rivalry between the two.
Football today is just a pale family friendly version of what it once was.
