Now you know why Maradona is the best of the best. He ruled a league that had players such as Ruud, Marco and tons more. And in an era when defenders had their own rules. Messi and Ronaldo can keep their goals and stats.
i remember seeing him strolling along Chelsea Bridge road around the time he became player/manager at Chelsea, and was immediately struck on just how big he was. he was immaculate, wearing a suit, collar and tie, had short dreads (?), very elegant and looked as though he had stepped of a catwalk. he was on his own, nobody taking any notice, he could have been any Tom, Dick or Harry.
Great interview, Gullit was a legend. The Dutch were very lucky in that tournament. Van Basten started on the bench. The game against England was also unbelievable. at 1-1, England hit the post twice. Against Ireland, a lucky goal from Kieft brought the Dutch to the halve finals, where they got a penalty that wasn’t one. Nevertheless, on paper a very strong team with many legends. For me as a Dutch, unforgettable.

It was Irelands first major tournament euro 88 I was 11 but I remember Rudd was always in the conversation when people were talking about the best players in the world, That Dutch side were quality with top players in every position but have to say we had quality players back then and we only needed a draw in our last game against Holland to get to QF but they scored a fluke of a goal late in the game which was a close game, Those were the days😢 Van bastens goal is still regarded as one of the best goals in tournament football what a strike👍☘☘☘
Nice chat. Brings back good memories. Fantastic team, saw them at Wembley against England back in 1993. The infamous 2:2 draw in the World Cup qualifier.
Even though I can’t remember much of it, I saw the lost final in ‘74. I vividly remember the lost final in ‘78 when I was 10 years old. It seemed like ages for the Dutch team to play another final and this time we won. But I was twice as old then. May sound silly, but it was only yesterday that I realised it only took 10 years. Ten years is absolutely nothing when you’re 56, like I am now. But back then, three big finals in just 14 years time! Pretty impressive. 🧡

Cruyff obviously sitting in the first place and then it's either Van Basten or Gullit. He's always on top 3 whenever someone talk about best Dutch footballers
@@baby_r4gna628 Not in the netherlands
I would say Johan Neeskens more underrated. He wasn't a flair player like Cruijff, van Basten, Gullit, or Bergkamp.
Great interview, Ruud comes across as a great guy as well as a legend of the game.
World class Upload. Need more of this!!!
Need to do more of these. Make it its own show. Young people like myself need to be reminded of the legends of the game
Still inspiring today. Loved that Milan & Netherland team. These days made me love football ❤
The first player I can actually remember... His hair, that bright orange strip is partly the reason I fell in love with football. Thanks for the memories Rudd!!! ❤
love this - he is my favourite player of all time!
Gullit and Van Basten, Euro 88, the reson I not became a Milanista but also fell in love with the Beautiful Game.
That Holland team could have won at least one World Cup (90 or 94) but due to internal fights they didn’t.
Grazie di cuore Ruud per tutto! ❤️⭐️👏😎🤟
10:51 Jan Wouters is so underrated, in a team with big stars like the Milan 3 and Koeman ! His passes from his crooked legs were almost sublime.
This inch perfect assist on Marco against the Germans, but also the assist on Marco's famous bicycle kick goal against Den Bosch in 1987 ... Jan Wouters. In 1993 Dennis Bergkamp made a fantastic chip volley goal at wembley, in a WC 1994 qualifier. The the curved assist was by .. Jan Wouters.
A player who doesn't mentioned well noticed....
The Euro 88 highlight film “TOR” is the best ⚽️ documentary still to this day. It’s free on RUclips.
Cool interview and highlights. Thanks ITB.
brilliant player.
I was 8 years young when i watched this final with my older nephew. Ill never forget how beautifull that header from Gullit was in the final against Russia. The entire team from the Netherlands was amazing but Gullit was beautifull to watch! Bedankt Ruud!
One of the best raw football interviews I have ever watched 💯 It was like being inside Gullits head…the pressure of fame, his personal life, his mind health etc would have been so intense it’s crazy! Thankyou Rio & Ruud for this awesome authentic intv, it makes you appreciate your privacy & personal space more. Greetings from Australia🇦🇺❤😊⚽️🇳🇱🏴🤝🙏
WHAT A GOAL by van basten. That move was exquisite
God, I love Ruud Gullit.
What a player
"You should try to keep fit and sorrounded with good people, that gives you good energy"! Thats the best phrase and life goal from RG.👌🙏
Such a good man! He and Marco were our stars!
The 1988 dutch team was in my view the second best team Holland ever had after the 1974 dutch team!
They were not in the qualifiers !
Ruud is brilliant! What a player he was!
THESE ARE LEGENDS RIGHT HERE FOLKS.🌟.
Why don't People Mentioned Gulilt Name with the Best who ever Played the Game..He was incredible...
Lmao what people do you listen to, Ruud being an all time great is literally a common fact
Now you know why Maradona is the best of the best. He ruled a league that had players such as Ruud, Marco and tons more. And in an era when defenders had their own rules. Messi and Ronaldo can keep their goals and stats.
What a player!! Iconic!
One of my childhood heroes. I remember him being powerhouse of Milan. His technique his mentality... What a player he was.
Ruud is perfect example of follow your passion, the success & fame follow itself. What a Legend.
i remember seeing him strolling along Chelsea Bridge road around the time he became player/manager at Chelsea, and was immediately struck on just how big he was. he was immaculate, wearing a suit, collar and tie, had short dreads (?), very elegant and looked as though he had stepped of a catwalk. he was on his own, nobody taking any notice, he could have been any Tom, Dick or Harry.
Ruud is an amazing humble guy, that's the character trait that lifts him into Legendary status and a Wonderful humanitarian ❤
This team was MAGIC 💪
Thank you for bringing this legend on, Rio. This is brilliant.
Ruud, living legend. Amazing player, iconic look, charismatic personality.
Mooi om te zien🧡🧡🧡🇳🇱🇳🇱❗️❗️❗️ Nostalgie 🧡🧡🧡❗️🇳🇱
Great interview, Gullit was a legend. The Dutch were very lucky in that tournament. Van Basten started on the bench. The game against England was also unbelievable. at 1-1, England hit the post twice. Against Ireland, a lucky goal from Kieft brought the Dutch to the halve finals, where they got a penalty that wasn’t one. Nevertheless, on paper a very strong team with many legends. For me as a Dutch, unforgettable.
Ruud Gullit ...my childhood's hero!
Greetings from Greece Ruud.
One of the greatest duos in international football Gullet and van basten !!!
Brilliant series, would love to see more of these
Gullit a good, interesting man and a remarkably good player, one of the best for sure!
Wow Ruud honest and elegant , also looks young happy to see u
I was a kid in 80s and this wk i was filling that gap watchin Ruud and Marco's legendary history in 80s milan ,wc, euro football was Art coz of u
So this is best interesting podcast and Ferdinand is the best interviewer
❤❤❤ to you both 🌍
His shirt is still in my closet today from his Feyenoord days. It's my tressure so to say
This man is a legend a machine, much love to you ruit thanks for the fantastic football moments
I really wish that I was able to watch van Basten in his day
I saw van Basten in his prime... Hands down the best centre forward ever. Had everything
@@shamadam1 Just from the few highlights I've seen, it looks like it!
I did, both on tv and live. He was just good.
@@RB-tz8kj I saw him at the San Siro against Napoli live. Was brilliant. The only other centre forward maybe comes close is R9 but van Basten the best I ever saw
Best interview in a long time. Well done Rio and Ruud.
