Yh for sure, I honestly don't know how or why he wasn't in more big films and a lead more times throughout the 90's and 00's. Probably because Hollywood has always been racist. Even now. They are just using "diversity" to push queer ideology on to people of colour. Carl was and is a fantastic actor. Should have had him in the Expendables too.
Not a lot of black leading men in his day outside of comedies. They'd always just hire Arnold, Sly, Van Damme, Dolph etc.
Must be annoying to be interviewed by someone only to be asked about someone else. Seems a bit rude really. Carl has his own movie legacy.
"Action Jackson" & "Tour Of Duty" was in the 80's , in the 90's "Happy Gilmore" , "Force 10 from Navarone" in the 70's, & before that he played in a lot of blaxpoitation flicks in . He also played pro football. He made his mark on his own. I'd give him a few notches above Fred Williamson & Jim Brown.
I dont think those are the only questions he was asked that day...

Good to see Carl looking so well. His voice hasn't changed at all. Still sounds like a younger guy. Certainly a golden era regarding the Rocky movies and Predator etc. Thanks for all the great work in bringing us such a classic run of movies.

John McTiernan directed 'Predator', not John Avildsen. Avildsen directed two of the "Rocky' films. Easy to make a slip of the tongue after 30 years.

I am pretty sure Carl realized his niche in show business. As far as being mad at those guys, Sly especially, Stallone made Carl a rich man by casting him as Apollo Creed.
christopher james Which is true, but we all have to start somewhere. Look at Stallone, dude was broke and living under a bridge before a director took a chance on his Rocky script. No one is a self-made man if you really think about it. You always need someone else's approval to make it in this world. If you're trying to get hired for a job, someone that works there has to accept you. If you have your own business, you need customers and workers to buy and sell your products.
carl forgot to mention, while filming predator carl was a single man! and the actors and film crew went to a bar and carl started talking to a cute woman, and Arnold comes along and says out loud "carl, your wife is on the phone, she says the kids are crying for daddy to come home"

I hate to correct Carl on this, but John Mctiernan directed Predator, not John Avildsen. Guess he made a little mistake, mixing the two directors together, it's been 30 years so it's understandable. And John Avildsen did direct him in Rocky.
