to find these sounds in the endlessness of electronic combinations and possibilites is even more timeconsuming than playing, improvising or composing on a regular piano, where you are limited to shape a sound... he is not just playing two keyboards and a few filters, he is directing a whole orchestra, and has created every instrument by himself, in his mind...
Nils Frahm, don't worry about people not listening. There are some of us. And how can you not sit down and just listen when this music is so captivating?
i was in a concert of him just a week ago. He made sold out of the theater few months before this date (november 23 23). Some friends even bought the tickets in april! the concert was incredible and it sound gorgeous, obviously. Posibly one of the best concerts in my life
When you are a true artist like him.. you always make the music that you self want to hear from your heart.. because it don't exist somewhere else.. And when you did that, it's makes you cry.
There is also the joy one experiences when a oneness seems to open up to ones self when creating /improvising music. It comes upon you as a gift and you never see it coming until the moment you arrive in it.
Kind of cool to see him have to improvise (and of course still nail it.) We've seen the perfection of his live performances. Let us see him figure some stuff out on the fly. Love it. Much Respect, Nils!
despite the argument going on below......i've never heard this guy before and what great music......instead of analyzing every detail here's an interesting idea.....how about just listening and enjoy it for what it is?....and if one doesn't like it feel free to go listen to something else.....for me....this is lovely stuff.
I feel like this song is constantly evolving. Even through differing versions of it like the one on his album and this one. They are the same but completely different.
this is one amazing thing with Nils Frahm he improves a lot during his shows and live performances. Every show is a different experience with this guy. I saw him at Montreal and he Blew me away
The second track is actually 19:50 "For", 21:53 "Peter" and 25:25 "More". Usually combined with "Toilet Brushes", but he couldn't ship the grand piano to this studio :)
Your argumentation is flawed. It does not matter if he always only plays the piano, he's a modern artist, what matters is the end result, the music, and to me it is absolutely amazing. and in terms of piano skills, watch his route du rock performance and forever hold your peace.
More would have been even more powerful if the last part would have been on a real piano. Thanks for the interview, Mr Cole. Good to know a bit more about Nils!
lovely ***** this is so beautiful my soul feels like floating.... thank you for sharing!!!!! really really enjoy it :)))) the first music could go on and on for hourssss
i like to think that mozart would be so mindblown by what nils does, that he would have an epiphany and live a longer, less fanatical life. as for comparing talents, i like to think that this youtube video in particular produces conversation between human adults and not between mechanistic regurgitators of established nonsense
I love that feeling when you realise that this music will be in your life now......forever.
All music is in all lives...forever.....

He normally does it on a real piano check out his album Spaces, I think it's because there wasn't enough space in the studio to bring both.

I wanna see this guy do a score for a video game.
I'm only 3-4 minutes into the video writing this, but It makes me think of an old SimCity game...
BingtheLizard yeah. he's talented enough he could do just about any genre of game. i'm thinking some sort of adventure type of game.
And so he did.
