I just don't get the missing AC adapter. I don't understand. That adapter costs basically nothing, so I doubt it's about saving money. I'd also assume most of those people buying a new 3DS to replace their old one would sell their old system forward. And those people need adapters, too. Just why?

Just wondering, do the screens get brighter on the N3DS XL with the charger plugged in? This was the case with the original 3DS. With the charger in, the extra punch in brightness made a world of a difference, bringing every single game to life with richer more vibrant colors, whiter whites and overall livelier picture. heck, the 5th brightness looks dim in comparison. :P
Honestly, after doing tons peering and looking up info, I think the New 3DS XL is the better option for me. I'm a 16 year old guy with averagely sized hands and think that the New XL will be much more comfortable to hold. Not saying the standard 3DS won't be comfortable but my hands will rest easy more on the XL. Portability never really mattered since I still got school so I would just plop that thing in my backpack with a carrying case on it, and really the only downside for me against the standard 3DS was no faceplates and a less sharper screen. But after looking at many multiple videos, the New XL seems to have a better color ratio for the screen against the standard one which looks slightly washed out and speakers with slightly more bass. Also the C-stick looks more efficient to use on the XL because of the more added space so that's a plus. And I seriously can't resist that MH4U New 3DS XL, it looks gorgeous.
Can we get an honest opinion? I was really looking forward to getting the original sized New 3DS and was slightly upset that we're not getting it (yet) in North America. Would it be reasonable to settle for this if I already have a 3DS XL? I grabbed my old laptop and I tested out the "c-stick" on it and that thing is VERY sensitive. What I like to do is put the mouse speed on the highest setting and I see how gently I can push it to make it move on its slowest setting (if that makes sense) and I was amazed. I think this will help a lot in games like Iron Fall if the new c-stick is half as good as the nub on old computers.

I've got an ancient purple 3ds, and it's time I upgraded. I don't have a portability problem (cargo pants for the win) and the rest of the benefits are too much to turn down. I'm gonna pre-order the red one in the next couple days :)

The dimensions look exactly the same. Is this correct? Or is there a thickness/screen size difference? Either way both look amazing, but I really want the regular size in white. If there was an XL offered in white I would be alright but the black and red colors available don't appeal to me. Thankfully eBay already has plenty of white ones for very reasonable prices, even for that special Kyogre/Groudon edition! My mind is set :)

I too want the white one with those beautiful super famicom colored buttons. I've had a 3ds since launch and have been quite happy with it overall and had an xl at one point but sold it because the dpi made the images looks too blown up and blocky while my 3ds screens look superb. I always said a little bit bigger screen and it would be perfect and the new 3ds is just that going from 3.5" to 3.88" without disturbing the dpi too much. I've read so many forums about many feeling the same way as I and I think nintendo is making a huge mistake by not bringing the regular right sized one to the U.S. I do think there's a good chance they will once they phase out all the older models on the shelf because faceplates will gather them so much extra revenue in the U.S. market just like it will in other markets. Until then I'll hold out and be happy with my trusty march 2011 aqua blue 3ds.

Aw man, the Japan only New 3DS looks absolutely perfect. I'm so glad the 3.5mm port is in the center on the bottom. I can't even begin to tell you how awful having it on the very left side on the 3ds XL is. Its like... Thats where my damn hand goes! Glad they moved it to the center where it wont intrude anymore.

danjer0047 Well, if you're into Pokemon, then the DS line of systems is the only way to play the new ones, so there's that. Otherwise, there are two Zelda games out for 3DS and then Majora's Mask is on its way. You can download demos of games like Fire Emblem if you want to try them out. There's also their cool downloadable games like Shovel Knight. Here, just do this: look at all the games out for the 3DS/new 3DS, make a list of the games you would definitely play, the games you might play, and the games you won't play, they decide from there. If there's only one or two games you want, then it's a bad investment, if there's a lot, then you might consider buying it.
The reason we won't get it here in the west anytime soon is because Nintendo feels as if the 3DS market is finally taking off. According to their sales, we've now just started really getting into it and it would be redundant for them to release the new one already when we've not fully gotten into the old one. They're capitalizing and making the most out of the old one first. Since Japan has already gone through the old one (because its more popular over there, they released the new one). They said we will get the smaller version in some time, but not for a little while. I'm waiting for the smaller one myself
Definitely get the xl all the people that I talk to all say that the big screen is very nice because of videos and the games look better bigger screens are proven to be better for gaming
this one looks so much better, but this was 2 years ago, i have the same one, dropped it on the floor and the backplate clicks now and theres a giant scuff on the corner of the front cover.

as soon as they mentioned that the new 3ds wont include charger I inmediately ordered a charging cradle and an AC adapter and screen protectors (the New 3DS XL ones and HORI brand so it's legit), never owned a DSi/3DS before (had a DS lite in 2007 but it died) and Smash 4 of course, I got the persona Q 3DS case (hopefully I think it can fit a new 3DS XL since no big sizes differences were made) so i'll be at full gear by when I get the new 3DS in my hands
The logic here: Charger one and Charger 2. Charger one: DS, DSLite (Both with xl versions) Charger two (The 3ds one): DSi, 3DS, New 3DS, 2DS (All with xl versions)

From a control standpoint, I think it's much more comfortable than the original tiny 3DS. The only downside is that it's a bit heavy, and your hands/wrists will probably get tired after a short time. Set it on a pillow or something!

Omg i also have a black new 3ds xl! (i still have it since i probably got it in 2015 or 2016 and it has cfw) though mines has a black lcd spot (small) on top screen but is still working and turning on.

I too want the white one with those beautiful super famicom colored buttons. I've had a 3ds since launch and have been quite happy with it overall and had an xl at one point but sold it because the dpi made the images looks too blown up and blocky while my 3ds screens look superb. I always said a little bit bigger screen and it would be perfect and the new 3ds is just that going from 3.5" to 3.88" without disturbing the dpi too much. I've read so many forums about many feeling the same way as I and I think nintendo is making a huge mistake by not bringing the regular right sized one to the U.S. I do think there's a good chance they will once they phase out all the older models on the shelf because faceplates will gather them so much extra revenue in the U.S. market just like it will in other markets. Until then I'll hold out and be happy with my trusty march 2011 aqua blue 3ds.

I barely play my 3DS but find myself wanting a New 3DS XL... If I don't come to my senses, I'll trade the original system in somewhere once I've transferred over my data etc (you still have to do that right?).
I want one of these to play Zelda Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, the gen 3 pokemon remakes, Mario, and animal crossing because my dsi xl can't play the 3ds cartridges.

Aw man, the Japan only New 3DS looks absolutely perfect. I have the original tiny 3DS which is way too damn small and I've always thought the 3DS XL looked a little too big, but that New 3DS (the naming is getting so confusing xD) looks like the perfect size! I hope that comes to North America one day... :'(
Agreed! I've always wanted a sweet spot between the teeny 3DS and the enormous XL, and that's exactly what the New 3DS seems to be. Here's hoping it comes here eventually!

I'm so glad the 3.5mm port is in the center on the bottom. I can't even begin to tell you how awful having it on the very left side on the 3ds XL is. Its like... Thats where my damn hand goes! Glad they moved it to the center where it wont intrude anymore.

For someone who isn't extremely into things like Fire Emblem and Xenoblade or other games like that, is the 3DS a worthwhile system to buy? I'm more into Mario, a bit of Pokemon, and things like that. I'm getting a Wii U this weekend finally, which I'm really excited about, but I'm just curious about the pros and cons of a new 3DS XL.
I'm willing to try games like Fire Emblem, but I don't seem to have enough time to play them. And I also love the Zelda series so maybe those games are enough to jump onboard? Just curious.
danjer0047 Well, if you're into Pokemon, then the DS line of systems is the only way to play the new ones, so there's that. Otherwise, there are two Zelda games out for 3DS and then Majora's Mask is on its way. You can download demos of games like Fire Emblem if you want to try them out. There's also their cool downloadable games like Shovel Knight.
Here, just do this: look at all the games out for the 3DS/new 3DS, make a list of the games you would definitely play, the games you might play, and the games you won't play, they decide from there. If there's only one or two games you want, then it's a bad investment, if there's a lot, then you might consider buying it.
The reason we won't get it here in the west anytime soon is because Nintendo feels as if the 3DS market is finally taking off. According to their sales, we've now just started really getting into it and it would be redundant for them to release the new one already when we've not fully gotten into the old one. They're capitalizing and making the most out of the old one first. Since Japan has already gone through the old one (because its more popular over there, they released the new one). They said we will get the smaller version in some time, but not for a little while. I'm waiting for the smaller one myself
Definitely get the xl all the people that I talk to all say that the big screen is very nice because of videos and the games look better bigger screens are proven to be better for gaming

this one looks so much better, but this was 2 years ago, i have the same one, dropped it on the floor and the backplate clicks now and theres a giant scuff on the corner of the front cover.
I wish they were offering the Blue one at launch, but I'm settling on Black myself :P Really love the look of the standard New 3DS and would LOVE to do stuff with the face plates, but I agree, if we haven't seen it by now I don't think we will..and it would really suck for all the people getting these that wanted the normal new 3DS, to release it like 2-3 months later for all those people who just got the XL cus it was the only option haha
as soon as they mentioned that the new 3ds wont include charger I inmediately ordered a charging cradle and an AC adapter and screen protectors (the New 3DS XL ones and HORI brand so it's legit), never owned a DSi/3DS before (had a DS lite in 2007 but it died) and Smash 4 of course, I got the persona Q 3DS case (hopefully I think it can fit a new 3DS XL since no big sizes differences were made) so i'll be at full gear by when I get the new 3DS in my hands

Is the New Nintendo 3DS XL have the same adapter as a regular 3DS or is it different because I'm thinking of buying it.
The logic here:
Charger one and Charger 2.
Charger one: DS, DSLite (Both with xl versions)
Charger two (The 3ds one): DSi, 3DS, New 3DS, 2DS (All with xl versions)
If buy adapter you mean charger, then yes they use the same charger
the new 3ds face plate is probably an idea from the gameboy micro huh? hopefully a couple months after 3ds xl release theyll put out that one . i atleast want to compare the sizes, cus i dont know if the new 3ds xl will fit in my pockets = /, also the standard one would be cheaper too huh

The standard New 3DS in this video is a Japanese one I borrowed from a friend - it's not actually mine, and if it was, I couldn't play my US games on it. :P
In Europe we get both the New 3DS and New 3DS XL, maybe North America will get the New 3DS later in the year?
I know there is no way for you to really know if it's in our future or not but comparing the previous models and the dates colors came out how much longer after feb 13th will we have to wait?

How does the XL feel? I'm only used to the original 3DS model, and I preordered the Majora's Mask 3DS XL... And I'm worried it may be too big...
From a control standpoint, I think it's much more comfortable than the original tiny 3DS. The only downside is that it's a bit heavy, and your hands/wrists will probably get tired after a short time. Set it on a pillow or something!

if you are a man, you shouldn't have problems with it being heavy (heck its lighter then the original XL)
