What? Video quality hasn't improved since 2015, we're still mostly using 1080p and 4k both of which were widespread when this video came out, so what's surprising? lol
If you dont own a 3ds, get the new XL. If you already own an original 3ds XL, there's no need to upgrade unless you want the better processor/ram and cstick nub.
Also the exclusive games for the new 3ds
From what I heard theres at most a very limited number that require it - Its like the N64 in that regard, With the RAM expansion there was only 2 games that was under requirement for it. And 1 game only had about 30% of the content availible without the expansion pack (4mb RAM) - edit - I actually treat it as 4 games for the system.
I am including StarCraft 64, which requires it to go for multiplayer, and the games expansion content of brood war (3 campaigns, new units etc.) If we call it 3 because of perfect dark. We should include a game that has a rough percentile of 50% being unavailable as well.
+Stasis Field for now. But like every other system that has put out an upgrade slowly "new" nintendo games will be easier to find then the ones that don't. I had to check 4 stores to find ocarina of time -.-

Thanks I came here just for that. I was wondering if Pokemon Sun and Moon were gonna make any difference. But since the gameplay is slower, with turn based battles, I guess I shouldn't worry too much.

Yeah, you should. If you're broke you should try getting a 3ds for around $50 or a 3ds XL just to see if you like it. But if you're made of money just get the New 3ds, it's pretty much the same except better.

I bought a New 3DS XL (Galaxy Design), but kept my old 3DS to give to my friend who has never had a hand held. My only problem is that the New 3DS XL doesn't come with a charger, so I have to use my old one, and go digging around my house to find my spare charger, or just buy a new one. The main reason I upgraded was because I've had that 3DS ever since the 3DS came out, and it has lately been starting to show with it taking forever to launch games and playing Pokémon in 3D.

The major problem I have with the NN3DSXL is that the game cartridge and stylus are at the bottom, instead of the stylus on the side and game cartridge at the top.

Bought a new 3ds xl today since I lost my original 3ds xl
One thing that I like although quite simple and maybe not a big deal for most is that the stylus slot was added to the front, even if it is to the right a tad. As a left hander I pull my stylus out with my right hand and switch it to my left, this seems a tad better to that respect.

Just got my first new 3ds xl hyrule edition console last week. It's just amazing handheld and feels comfortable In my hands as well :)
The only feature that makes me consider the new one, is the wider range of 3D. I have a had a few instances where when playing, if I shift even the slightest to the left or right the 3D becomes blurred and very hard to see. Do you guys think it is worth it to upgrade for that?

I have the old 3ds but I only got it two years ago and it's working perfectly fine, as well as there aren't many new XL exclusive titles yet.
Don't forget about the wireless file transfer feature of the new model! You can wirelessly transfer files on and off the device like it was a normal network or USB drive

Damn, got the new 3DS XL recently (what can I say, I like my handhelds abandoned by their maker, looking at you PS VIta and it's awesome community) and finding accessories for it is quite nightmarish, needed to confirm that the screen size is the same for protectors so here I am on a 6 years old video!
I don't know. I just recently got my old 3ds xl and I don't think I would upgrade. There isn't much of a difference and the differences themselves don't really matter to me.

i know its petty but i wish the buttons were colored.. im not a native nintendo gamer i play xbox and pc but ive a 3ds for about a year and sometimes when button prompts come up i get confused since im so used to other lay outs.. this is fine since normally i can just look down but i game alot in dark/dim areas and colored buttons or buttons with some form of glow in the dark material would be brilliant... i know some of the new models have them but is it a region thing? like EU got the colors or something or is it special edition consoles.
I own a New 3DS XL, and I have to say it works pretty spectacularly. The 3D is comfortable and the c-stick actually gets used a lot in games such as Smash Bros and Majora's Mask. However, the smaller (and somewhat thicker at least the feeling) stylus is somewhat uncomfortable to use, but that isn't major. What is major is that the system does not come with an AC adapter, a charger, so keep that in mind. This a great improvement of the old 3DS, and if you're like me and didn't have the money around that time and didn't feel like it was worth it for crappy 3D (I ended up getting a 2DS), then get this system because it is fantastic. Be wary though, if you have problems with smudges then the complete glossy outside will drive you insane XD. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful system that was completely worth the money in my perspective.
8 years later. You were lucky to buy this system new at retail price. ;-;
@@tralpha9660 8 years later and I still have it! And it still works great! The little nub to control the camera is absolutely torn to shreds but that can be replaced. I thank my younger self for taking care of my electronics.

I'm thinking of getting a new 3DS but I'm not sure if I should go with the regular new 3DS or the XL. I heard that on the XL the graphics are slightly worse because the image is stretched, and you can see the pixels better. Is this true?

For the record, I really want to upgrade to this one. I play a lot of 3DS games and I want the c-stick for camera control in Monster Hunter and Majora's Mask (and probably other games in the future). I played around 6 hours of Monster Hunter 3 (my friends copy) and the way you controlled the camera was horrible. It would also me useful in Super Smash Bros. 3DS. More and more Nintendo games will have Amiibo support, and that will also be a lot easier with the New 3DS even though he didn't mention that. I do wish the XL also had customisable faceplates, but that's not the end of the world to me, I'll either get a limited edition bundle or just throw some stickers on it like I did with my current XL :)

I have the "old" 3 ds xl, and while I really like the way the new one looks it's not a super super significant difference for me to want to go get the new one yet... Maybe if they came out with some really cool games for it in the future...

I like the click feeling on my original 3ds xl and it's good to know the new ones buttons click. Idk if I'll be using the c stick much, but if they release a good enough game that utilizes it well enough I will start to use it. When I got my first Ds which was a Ds lite a really long time ago I used it for a while then lost it. One I found it and used it for a while it broke and I was Ds-less for a while ☹️. Then I went to the Nintendo store in NYC and played around with the old 3ds xl and ended up getting that a few years ago, broke it, got a new one and my brother whacked it out of my hand and the top screen almost fell of completely, the Ds still worked for a little while then the top screen stopped working. Bottom screen still works and audio is still fine, but I'm thinking about getting a new 3ds xl. This is gonna be a long ass comment. xD

If anyone can answer I would really appreciate it, I really want to find out how to transfer my games as the first 3ds I broke had most of these games and I lost all of them when it broke, and I had to buy them all over again, and I don't want that to happen again. Again, any answers will help.

I just got a open box SNES edition n3dsxl and my touch screen is off center like the n3dsll in the video, is that a common thing? I was thinking that maybe the seller had pulled a slick one and sent me one that had been repaired. I ordered a regular xl actually recently, and honestly i prefer the xls over any other 3ds/ 2ds. Both of them look pretty great. If they werent absolutely expensive right now i probably wouldve gone for a new 3ds xl but it really doesnt matter all that much
I do probably prefer where the start and select is on the new one though, especially since thats how it was on the regular 2ds too
You just can't play some of the new xl exclusives like minecraft but other then that it's solid enough I just got a new xl because work money and I enjoy it

So do you just use normal 3ds games for the XL or are there XL games made specifically for the XL? I'm assuming you just use the same discs because I've checked my local warehouse and they only sell 3ds XL's so I found the games and the all just say 3ds down the side, and there are no 3ds XL games. I also checked the Nintendo website and there are no XL games there either. I know I just answered my own question and there most likely is, but I was just double checking incase because I'm getting one for christmas and I don't want to get the wrong one. Plz reply!!

@@jaytalks9408 i presume "new Super Mario 2" is New Super Mario Bros. 2, "Mario cart 7" is Mario Kart 7 and "Zelda game OoT" is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. I think instead of "3D World" he means Super Mario 3D Land
Another thing regarding the new 3ds xl's screen is that it has a much better contrast ratio (much darker blacks). The old 3ds xl looks a bit washed out compared to the new screen.

most important thing for the new 3DS that its 100% worth the money is the camera adjustment for the 3D visuals of the game.
i've tried the simple 3ds xl and my eyes were on fire with the 3D mode on.

Hold up, the browser on your original XL looks different than on my XL. Is there a way to upgrade the browser? I'm on the latest 3DS Firmware.
The main problem that I have is that there will be no "normal size" 3DS in North America, so as a result, I'd have to get a more expensive, less customizable, larger version that I really do not want and have no need for.

The only thing I don't like about the new 3ds xl is how everything is on the bottom. It just gives the 3ds a higher chance of accidentally hitting the power button or the cartridge being pressed.

Got myself a circle pad pro back in December, which also has its own set of extra triggers plus it's far more comfortable to hold - it's far more bulkier though, but I love that feeling.
Unless you don't have a 3DS yet, I personally don't think the new 3DS is a worthwhile investment (for now at least).
