I saw Tool in the early 2000's at San Diego Street Scene. A mosh pit formed, I think perhaps there was a bit of a scuffle, so Maynard told them to stop or they would end the set. It took 5 mins but people chilled out and Tool continued.

@@junkymcjunkster I also saw them for the first time in 2002 at Ozzfest in Portugal and there was a bit of a mosh pit and it was weird, but they closed that show (Ozzy was ill and didn't perform) after Slayer, so I guess the crowd was still a bit wild. But that was basically the only time I saw mosh in a Tool concert and I've seen them 3 times after that.

The line weeping shades of indigo is an allusion to fake tears. Back in the early days of cinema they would put lemon juice in the actors eyes to enable them to cry but the juice would cause their eyes to appear Indigo on screen a colour which doesn't appear anywhere in nature and has to be man made. I believe this song is aimed at a particular district attorney who built his career on a hard-line stand against even minor drug offences until he got caught involved in a police sting involved with large scale marijuana distribution.

Every TOOL song is nasty and the lyrics pulled up ALWAYS make the context of what you're hearing make sense. Often the lyrics can have multiple meanings or apply to you and not me but I get something from them you may not. They do everything with intention. In high school in the 90s, I jammed to their sound and liked them. In 2019 I picked them up again and zeroed in on the meanings of the songs and it make their whole discography brand new to me and by far my favorite band. Keep 'em coming!

Next one should be 46&2 from TOOL. Pull them lyrics up. You’ll need them. A lot of it has to do with how Maynard’s voice is mixed within the song. It doesn’t overpower the instruments in any way.

As a rapper you I knew you'd be all about this one! The entirety of the lyrics are a beautiful tapestry woven from double entendric colloquialisms. Mav favorite line -
"You're weeping shades of cozened indigo, you got lemon juice up in your eye!"- cozened means fake or false ... Indigo is a shade of blue... as in blue like water... water also being tears... Lemon juice is used by actors to simulate tears and to redden their eyes... So what he's saying in the most eloquent way is that he's accusing someone of crying fake tears. Maynard is a fuckin obscenely good writer.
