You are going to get swarmed with new users on this one. Tool is incredible for both their musicality and lyricism. They dive really deep with metaphors but touch on a lot of psychology, religion/spiritualism, ect. Pretty much any of their songs are amazing, but with how much you dig the drums you might like to see the Danny Carey Drum Cam on the song Pneuma. 100% spot on!!!! Best reaction to this song with trying to break down the meaning. Tool is all very deep and every song Maynard writes has several meanings as well as its open to personal interpretation, which makes his music age well and relatable to anyone, even if wrote years ago. He also has this thing about him where he can dis someone with a back hand and make it sophisticated and beautiful at the same time with words. Awesome dude buckle up for the journey. Every Tool song is a ride for sure. Fun Fact all the members in this band are men of lots of creativity and many talents. Maynard the singer is in 3 BANDS all are very different but Unique and amazing in their own way. Theu each show different sides of him as a person as well as personal growth. So you have lots of songs to listen too. 🎶 Get ready welcome to the Tool Army! So much more to learn.
Great reaction vid. One of the best I've seen. You're obviously quite intelligent. Would love to see you dive into Tool. You will appreciate their genius and they will take you on one hell of a journey. Check out "Lateralus" by them. Masterpiece. They don't have a bad song, so can't miss ✌🏻
I never completely understood this song and they're my favorite band. It makes perfect sense now! Thanks so much Knox! The GOAT of breakdowns!!! Please do more Tool songs! Tool Tuesday's!!! Let's Go!!!
Its actually Maynard calling out Jimmy Paige from Led Zepplin. Paige tried to sue clubs and bands for covering their songs, which is ironic because Led Zepplin was essentially a blues cover band (Muddy Waters refrence). So essentially Paige is the pot calling the kettle black as a guy who made all his money from covers trying to stop people from playing covers.
Love your channel bro!!! Tool has been my absolute FAVORITE band of all time since I was 13 and "allowed" to buy their second album Undertow in 1993 and listened to it on repeat for months. Then I went back to buy their first album Opiate which never got much recognition until Stinkfist and Sober got radio play. Opiate was a bit "heavier" in the overall sound, but equally as good as Undertow, and I am still amazed to this day of how "ahead of the times" that ALL of their music is and continues to be- like Light-years ahead of the times of music man. Thanks so much for your intelligent and insightful comments all the time and for being SO open minded! Laura P. from Boston ❤❤
This is a favorite reaction! I have loved Tool for a long time. You picked up on the meaning of this song real quick. You so need to do more Tool. Tool is a mind expanding journey. I love story telling and lyricism, its one of the reason I listen to your music as well. Keep up the great work Knox! I am LOVING Metal Mondays.
Two more you should check out from TOOL, Sober and 46&2 Both great music and lyrics. Also you should watch the music videos for these, they are amazing. 🔥😍
As a not native english speaker this was incredible break down of the lyrics! Even I've tried to figure those out with dictionary, I had no idea about these idioms exist! Thanks a lot!
You just earned another subscriber with this one. Keep TOOL coming and you'll get many more fans coming. I like the way you break down the lyrics because Maynard is an amazing writer. TOOL'S songs are so deep and will keep you coming back for more.
I know you're doing a new metal band every Monday so the next time you plan to do a random offshoot reaction, definitely 100% check out Danny Carey live playing Pnuema. His nickname is "The Octopus" for a reason Edit: and yes those are polyrhythms
I love how Tool's Bass guitars lead more in the beginning and set the tone, then lead and rhythm guitars modify the tracks. It is so unique to Tool's sound .
Totally agree. It's refreshing to see a band that has so much blend in roles between percussion and base, and also base and guitar. There are so many Tool tracks where bass and guitar parts blend or swap seamlessly.
Never thought ide say this Knox but this band will Challenge your incredible talent in more ways then you could possibly imagine, this band will change your life and the way you look at music. Please more TOOL breakdowns
Goddamn dude. Your ability to read into these lyrics is absolutely incredible. Props brother. Glad youve found TOOL. They are on another lvl lyrically. More TOOL!
I know I’m late to this, but this song is a great show case of Justin’s ability on bass. He is a master of hooking you, and is a freak on his foot pedals. He makes such interesting sounds and keeps that groove just going. As a bass player myself and this being the first song I ever learned I get goosebumps listening to this, every time.
aaaahhhhh I'm so glad you're doing TOOL, they were my first Favorite Band when I turned 12. Thought I'd outgrow it but never did, and now I'm 32 and STILL get chills when I hear them.

The “bongo” sound are his Mandala pads. They are drum pads with up to dozens of quadrants where the sampled sound is of a different note/sound/pitch whatever the yser wants it to be. He has various mandala pads in his drum kit. There is a reason he is heralded as one of the absolute best.

Dude this is the best breakdown of this track that I've seen. You are a magician Knox! I've been a Tool fan since 1996 and never had the lyrics explained this way before. You need to go through their whole discography bro. Kudos to you!
...On the other hand, some of those bands it's only not true because they stupidly decided to release another album while simultaneously becoming terrible, like Backstreet Boys, or terrible in comparison, like Three Days Grace and Hollywood Undead. ....Or, like Hollywood Undead and [Next - Too Close] and City High other bands, they decide to put the most disgusting possible thing in the lyrics making it literally impossible to enjoy whatsoever regardless of how great the song would be if the lyrics were 100% da da doo wah etc. (Obviously not saying that City High or Next are bands with "every song" - if they were then we would have actually heard of them before the Internet existed, or knew another song by them aside from anyone who might have purposely looked for it.)
I’m late to this video of yours, I never knew it existed until today. Which, saddens me. Tool has been my favorite band since ‘95. This is the first reaction to Tool that I have had a grin throughout because you actually get the intellect and genius behind it all, then broke it all down almost perfectly. One of the best bands that has came out in the last 40 years. Every member brings a genius that all together brings timeless music…again and again and again. I appreciate your brain!

So cool seeing Knox a true student of music trying to decipher and grasp Tool. It’s been taken me years to discover the stuff Knox gets the first time.
“This is deep as shit” describes everything they’ve ever done. Just start at the beginning and react to them all lol. It’s a fun ride to listen to their progression.
I've always described watching Maynard live is it's like your at church and he is the preacher. His vocal ability as well as his brilliant writing is amazing. If you ever have a chance to go see Tool live do it! I guarantee if you see them live you will truly be amazed at the talent this band has, they are one of a kind. There isn't another band out there like them only people who try to imitate them.

This is the first time I have seen Knox actually look up lyrics and definitions. Tool is one of the most amazing bands I have ever had the privilege to listen to. The lyrics are on point, Maynards voice is pristine, the bass guitar is flawless and drives every song, the drummer is top notch, and the lead guitar just brings it all together.
Their drummer Danny Carey is one of the all time greats!! Gotta watch one of his live cameras during a show. It’s insane how many different sounds one drummer can make by himself
Impressive job breaking down this song for a first time listen, think you grabbed the essence of Tool immediately. Would love to see more Tool reactions, Pneuma, Lateralus and 46x2 to name a couple...welcome to the Tool Army😉

@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 the thing about this guy, he will do a deep dive. Something Knox has said before, if you want to hear the song then go listen to it on your own otherwise he's gonna break it down in it's entirety.
This was a great reaction/ breakdown. I really do appreciate your deep dive into the lyrics
That was an incredible analysis.
I'm also stumped by how your reaction to the scream has not triggered an ocean of "The Grudge" comments.
Maynard is a lyrical genius, one of my favorite bands. His side projects A Perfect Circle and Puscifer are also worth checking out
He should check out Potions by pusifer. Such a song.
@@dravernverrtz6768 Potions is bad-ass
You my friend are one of the most perceptive lyricists I have ever heard yet. Thank you for your music and perspective!❤
Two more you should check out from TOOL, Sober and 46&2
Both great music and lyrics. Also you should watch the music videos for these, they are amazing. 🔥😍
Yes, Tool is known for their experimental poly-rhythms
His nickname is "The Octopus" for a reason
Edit: and yes those are polyrhythms
You need to see Danny Carey, the drummer. His percussion work is unmatched.
Might that be ‘Pneuma’ you’re thinkin’ of?
Yes the pneuma video
ruclips.net/video/FssULNGSZIA/видео.html
You definitely need to see Danny work
OBJECTION...Neil Peart
I love how Tool's Bass guitars lead more in the beginning and set the tone, then lead and rhythm guitars modify the tracks. It is so unique to Tool's sound .
It's the reason I love Tool and Rush so much as a bass player. The rhythm section makes the song and the guitar sets the tone.
Totally agree. It's refreshing to see a band that has so much blend in roles between percussion and base, and also base and guitar. There are so many Tool tracks where bass and guitar parts blend or swap seamlessly.
Muse is similar. The bass drives the song and the guitars are just an accent to it.
Let this sit in, the guitar player for Tool use to play bass in a band with Tom Morello before they went off to their respective bands.
Welcome to TOOL NATION my man Knox! Strap in and enjoy the ride.
That was probably the best blind breakdown I’ve seen of this song holy cow you’re good
God I love this band. Danny Carey is one of my favorite drummers ever. Stoked to see you react to more metal and rock music!
To me, Maynard’s melody is like the serpent hypnotizing it’s prey.
More TOOL!
“Let’s get metaphysical here” Yeah this guy is gonna have a good time.
Thought I'd outgrow it but never did, and now I'm 32 and STILL get chills when I hear them.
the love for tool never fades im 45 and still listen to them everyday
@@zartine1153 here. When you go to their concerts it’s a bunch of old farts there cuz we’ve been listening for 20+ years. 😂
Knox!!!! If u continue reactin to Tool the #TOOLARMY Will bring you to over a Million subs in no time!!! With their music and ur breakdowns I Promise it'll happen!!!!
Hello fellow brethren 😄
Some of us are already here and have been. Just keeping an eye on KH to see if he would break the seal. He has. The Seal has been broken, the call has been made lol
The “bongo” sound are his Mandala pads. They are drum pads with up to dozens of quadrants where the sampled sound is of a different note/sound/pitch whatever the yser wants it to be. He has various mandala pads in his drum kit. There is a reason he is heralded as one of the absolute best.
This was excellent. I love that I have loved Tool forever and this kid does this breakdown. Absolutely amazing!
Tool is a fucking journey, man. I hope you continued the ride.
Gotta listen to Schism next! Such an incredible song musically and lyrically as well. It's definitely one of the most iconic bass lines in metal.
Everyone in this group is a master of their instruments
And Maynard's pen game is so far ahead of his time
Loved the reaction brother keep being awesome I'll keep watching
46&2
Aenema
Hooker with a penis
All great tracks with a lot for you to unpack lyrically
Hooker with a penis is an A+ level track
Another who values Aenima as the greatest album?
Please do more Tool reactions. Maynard is a musical genius and music has so many lyrical gems to interpret. My fav band of all time!
I have watched a TON of reaction videos to some of my favorite bands and songs, and I can honestly say that you are the G.O.A.T. at figuring out the meanings of songs. Keep up the great work because you are teaching me things about songs I have listened to for years!
I am so so excited that someone has taken the time to work thru the brilliance of Tool. Try "Schism" next, that one will really get you thinking.
Any time I see a reaction to The Pot, I watch. Your reaction has been the best I have seen. I haven't seen anyone else dig into the lyrics of this song anywhere near as much as you have. You're also picking up on the drums and engineering. Well done. I need to watch more of your reactions for sure.
Knox, you have opened a new world with this Metal Monday series you are doing. I love it! So many bands and songs to dive into, I don’t know if one video a week is going to cut it! 😂🤘
💯👊🤘🤘🤘
So glad you checked out Tool! Maynard and Billy had a band Perfect Circle, great music as well. I love Tool 💗 loving metal mondays!!! Forty six & 2 next or maybe Sober or maybe a song from Opiate?
Aenima is another good one
Im thinking schism cause of how many different meanings flow in that one song
If only Flood had a bit shorter intro...
Dude this is the best breakdown of this track that I've seen. You are a magician Knox! I've been a Tool fan since 1996 and never had the lyrics explained this way before. You need to go through their whole discography bro. Kudos to you!
You have the best first instrumental and lyrics translations I've seen. Your musical intellect is so on point and developed. Wow!
Tool fan since mid nineties. They never get old. Best band ever
Tool, to me, is one of those rare bands where you actually like to listen to every song in their catalog.
...On the other hand, some of those bands it's only not true because they stupidly decided to release another album while simultaneously becoming terrible, like Backstreet Boys, or terrible in comparison, like Three Days Grace and Hollywood Undead.
....Or, like Hollywood Undead and [Next - Too Close] and City High other bands, they decide to put the most disgusting possible thing in the lyrics making it literally impossible to enjoy whatsoever regardless of how great the song would be if the lyrics were 100% da da doo wah etc. (Obviously not saying that City High or Next are bands with "every song" - if they were then we would have actually heard of them before the Internet existed, or knew another song by them aside from anyone who might have purposely looked for it.)
Never clicked a notification so fast! I was so hoping you'd react to Tool; and The Pot is up there among the best!
I've watched just about every tool reaction on RUclips that there is. Dude, you absolutely killed this reaction. What a magnificent job of analyzing what you're hearing. Bravo my man!
The things you have set in motion can never be undone. Glad to see you checking out Tool! Also if you think that scream at the end was impressive I can't wait to see your reaction to The Grudge.
Damn, watching you dissect this line by line was a joy. Welcome to the world of Tool!
I love listening to you breaking down lyrics in all these songs, and man you're in for one hell of a ride lyrically with Tool. I can't wait to go down this rabbit hole with you!
I know this video is a year old, but I just discovered it today. This was a great breakdown of a Tool song.
Tool: We got him..
Tool live is a religious experience is what i tell everyone that has never seen them...have had the pleasure of seeing them 11 times, so far
3:27 - Danny Carey is a beast and a wizard on the drums. I've already been here for your rap and other breakdowns, but by reacting to Tool you've summoned the Army. Prepare for a lot of new subscribers.
@Knox Hill I watched a few reaction of yours to Ren and now Tool. Jeeeeez your mind is sharp as a razor blade. Subbed and liked!
That was honestly a lot of fun watching your response and intelligent feedback to this song, really well done man 😀🤘
I am blown away by how well you interpreted the lyrics of this song. No easy task. Well done sir. You earned a fan today. Looking forward to more videos!
Best reaction to this song ever! You picked it apart and are smart enough to catch on to the great poetic puzzle that is The Pot. Nice job!!!!
I confess I only tune in for his metal Mondays (I'm a metalhead), but his lyrical breakdown of the songs is fantastic! It's helped me get a lot more meaning out of songs than I thought was there. Great work, please keep it up!
After almost a year I watched your video again. I think it's the best lyric analysis I've ever seen. You were phenomenal!
Really enjoy watching a very intelligent and interesting dude review this band. 30 year Tool fan, and I’m still learning new things!! Thanks brother
I'm so so so happy to watch a reactor that is a lyricist. You notice the details so well. Thank you.
Hi Knox. Thank you for your review. It is by far THE BEST review amongst the tons of reviews of The Pot out there. Great job, well done.
I watch A LOT of reaction videos, and this is the best one I think I've ever watched. Unbelievable job brother.
Please please, please more Tool. You won't be disappointed. Mynard is a lyrical genius and Danny, Adam & Justin are masters at their craft. This is probably the greatest band ever. They're in a genre of their own and they are DEEP! Been listening to them for over 30yrs. You are going to love them. Great breakdown. You got my sub.
Huge tool fan here. You’re a wise dude. That’s a tough song to figure out lyrically. You gotta know your metaphors and double metaphors. Good job dude
i absolutely love watching someone experience tool for the first time...now you should watch
vicarious ...cheers
