Tool use polyrhythms in such a specific and smart way. 16:51 - Yeah, we've found that the first Tool song that tends to resonate the most with rappers is The Pot because of the approachable scheme and the sick doubles and triples in the word play. Vocal coaches tend to resonate the most with Sober (especially the live video performance) because they can see Maynard embodying the character and delivering so much power from such a strange set of positions.
I am so glad you are listening to TOOL!!!!!!! Found and like your channel through my love of FIR and Ren!!!! Now you are on some TOOL! Just keep bobbing your head and it will all come together!!!
BP, I'd love to see you react to Tool's songs "Wings For Marie" and "10,000 Days (Wings part 2)." They should be done together (Like Ren's Jenny and Screech). Maynard wrote these songs about the death of his mother after a long battle, and I think they would really resonate with you. If you do them, please find lyric videos or have the lyrics pulled up. Maynard's mother was paralyzed for many years. She always maintained strong faith throughout her life, even though her congregation was very cruel to her and implied that it was punishment for something she did wrong. Maynard was very angry about it as a younger man, but this is a more mature Maynard. It's a beautiful piece, and I think you would really love it.
Tool is even better live! I can't wait to go to the show monday night. I think I have seen them live 8 times now and every time is like a life changing experience.
There’s so much wordplay in this song, both in the content, double, triple-entendres galore. Even in the pronunciation, if you listen again. Nice initial reaction, though! Also, a favorite of mine is the “don’t go tossing your ‘stones’ around,” meaning the government’s tossing their Big-D*ck Energy & hypocrisy towards the “War on Drugs,” specifically in this case, that sweet, sweet cheeba, my friend. Mary Jane.
Thanks to Adam Jones (guitarist) and Alex Grey ( amazing artist) for the art work and videos. TOOL does insane time signatures in their songs to catch. That’s what your feeeling bro bro. Just like Jimi Hendrix- TOOL is an experience.
Welcome to the Tool party. Maynard James Keenan of Tool (Puscifer & A Perfect Circle) is a lyrical genius. Yes, he fronts 3 bands.... at once. Writes and sings for all 3. AND, runs his winery in Jerome AZ. Lateralus, Jambi, Descending, 7empest... the Tool list is long! Start off with "Pneuma, Danny cam live". The level of drumming you'll witness will leave you in awe. End of The Pot actually has it right there.... Danny Carey in the Boston jersey.

That feeling you felt is the point. Man I went through a court battle back in 2010 that included the rights to my daughter and or 50yrs in prison. This was my fight song right here. This and Jambi. Both on this album. First month without her all I could do was grieve and cry. Day after day was one long day of nothing but gut wrenching crying. You're a hip hop guy who came to love metal. I'm a metal guy who came to love hip-hip. When you said you never really appreciated the poetry and art that metal was bringing to their lyrics, well I felt the same way about hip hop. I love to see that respect and admiration for the art and craft flowing both directions. Unity in music.

This has to be my favorite band of ALL TIME! I would call them Alternative Rock. But they have so many GREAT albums! I love every song on their albums. Their lead singer Maynard James Keenan is an artist of genius proportions. He is so amazing with lyrics and the way he sings. In fact, look up a song called "Pneuma" where it only shows the drummer(Danny Carey) playing because he is known as "The Octopus" because he's such an amazing drummer! I love Tool! Please, if you haven't already, i was hoping you could do a reaction on "Pneuma" ? Thank you for all you do! Peace! 🩷🌷

The groove just keeps building in this song and the meaning and vocal energy takes on a huge roll, allowing the guitar riff to be sorta in the background but yet it proves so powerful, bing bang bong bang bing bang bong! It's Real Stanky! I like it!
Does anyone else remember that the special edition of 10000 Days came with art cards and 3D glasses? Because I have that and it's intense to look at while listening.
I was also lucky enough to see this album performed twice in the UK and it was glorious!
The humbling river by his band puscifer is incredible and has such a well.. humbling song
First saw them in 1997 in Omaha… Amazing live show! Deep lyrics and epic musical performances.
Love this song, his voice, guitars, and drums it's all great.
💫💫💫spiral out! Tool is one of the best bands ever! Seen them 6 times live and loved every time! ❤️
Spiral out with this band welcome to the Tool 🎉 rock on !
I just saw them on January 30th here in Corpus Christi. If you ever have the slightest chance to see them you must! A lifetime experience!
I was there they didn’t play a lot of songs I wanted to hear like vicarious , sober , schism or the pot
Greatest live band in History!!!!
Tool is def a trip to go on. Seeing them live is quite the experience, the sounds completely envelope you. They say a lot, and def need lyrics and headphones when listening. Hope you do more. This is one of my faves! More to go....!!!❤
I'm so excited for you to take the Tool journey, hope you stick with, spiral out!
Raw! Blistering! Fricking EPIC! Mathematical geniuses! Get angry go ahead this is HARDCORE! You’re not tapping you’ll be headbanging, my friend! Get your ass into that MoshPit! 🔥🔥🔥🎸🎤🔥🔥🎶
Sober was in their begining. This was like 10/15 yrs later. Ya must do more by them and his other band Perfect Circle. True artist's.
Been waiting for this. The rabbit hole is deep.
Haha. Tool is definitely gonna stretch your boundaries. Enjoy the ride my friend.
Tool is even better live! I can't wait to go to the show monday night. I think I have seen them live 8 times now and every time is like a life changing experience.
YEESSSSSS! as one of my favorite reactors I really hope u enjoy them and start doing more, if u get into them their lyrics are life altering!
Danny Carey in the Boston jersey.
and, new sub'r here brother. Every time I see someone react and hear a Tool song for their 1st time I love it. Wait until the Tool Army catches ya, your views and comments should explode.
Fact: Guitarist Adam Jones worked for Stan Winston Fx studios responsible for movies like: The Terminator series, Jurassic Park..etc.
Their art is indeed DMT inspired artwork. I've done it one time. Fantastic experience, I recommend it to everyone.
Most of the art that people associate with Tool is Alex Gray's art.
Adam though did special effects for the movie industry. Jurassic Park and some other things iirc.
The Art in alot of their music videos is his. Claymation type stuff very cool in its own way.
@@Lloocii Alex has talked a lot about how DMT and LSD inpired hit artwork and spoke about it in DMT the spirit molecule book. His artwork is spot on for that experience its pretty wildly accurate
This song pissed me off and lit the fire within me to stand and do what needed to be done. And so I did....
TOOL controls your heartbeat. Always
You're a hip hop guy who came to love metal. I'm a metal guy who came to love hip-hip. When you said you never really appreciated the poetry and art that metal was bringing to their lyrics, well I felt the same way about hip hop. I didn't understand it, but you and Knox gave me an appreciation for the art that has turned into all out passion. I love to see that respect and admiration for the art and craft flowing both directions.
Unity in music.
Here we go! Welcome to the club!
So much good stuff to come as you discover their work.
Thanks for sharing!
I went to a "Tool" concert about a month ago with my Nephew and it was great. It was 2 hours of lazer lights, fog and great music. The band "Elder" opened up for them, they were a perfect start. Peace
You want to see Tool? They’re in Denver on Monday, February 5th. I got two extra tickets for sale if you want them.
You're making it REALLY hard for me not to make requests...ijs😉🤣🤣. Glad you liked this Classic, Tool HAS ARRIVED!!
I’m about to go see tool on the 14,15 of this month here in Los Angeles can’t wait
Peace! 🩷🌷
Alex Grey is the artist that does their album cover/inserts. Loved your reaction. Polyrhythmic structure…one of my favs to listen to and play. Youll find it across many genres, but notably in jazz music and in world music/traditional west african percussion. If you keep going down the road on the journey of Tool’s music here, we are always happy to come along with you. 😊
And one thing about Tool their lyrics are usually three levels deeper than what you hear on the surface. Then sometimes not. They are pure genius
Sober. Live version 1993 is mind blowing.
Sober was from back in the early 90's. They music has changed as they have grown into wise men. I love it all and saw them in NYC a few weeks back (29th time) and they are as tight a band as you will ever see live with solid visual effects to match!
I'm really excited for you to go on this journey. The fact that you and all your friends seem to work in production of music in one way or another I think that you will all truly appreciate the production level of the mastering of this music.
Thanks for reacting to more Tool . You should react to more with Andy roo
Glad to see you covering some Tool, there's so much content to sift through. A lot of Tool fans, myself included, chase the dragon watching people react to this band in particular because they're such a unique outlier in music, so it's fun to see people process what's happening. In my opinion, from the videos of yours I've watched I think you'll enjoy the lyricism and wordplay that's found in a lot of their songs. Hope to see you cover some more from them!
Hi so nice to see you doing some Tool Love them so much!!🖤🖤
BP, you are one of the many reactors I follow and Tool brought me to those other channels. You are one of the few I started following pre-Tool content. I have waited for this moment for you to go down this hole and contribute your breakdowns and analysis. You were meant for this stuff and I'm looking forward to the journey! Spiral Out!
