His interest shifted to film, and he began to work as a sculptor and special effects designer, where he learned the stop motion camera techniques he would later apply in Tool's music videos, such as "Sober", "Prison Sex", "Stinkfist", "Ænema", "Schism", "Parabola", and "Vicarious". The judge handed down a pretty hard sentence, which he was infamous for doing for marijuana offenses in his courtroom. However, it came to light later down the road that the judge was a drug addict himself and was arrested for possession of cocaine or methamphetamine (again, ive heard differing stories). So the overwhelming hypocrisy of this one judge inspired Maynard to write the incredible lyrics for this banger of a song.
It's an incredible song, but the underlying message is the old adage of "the pot calling the kettle black" ... It stems from a judge sentencing Danny Carey, the drummer to 45 days in jail for simple possession of marijuana, but the judge that sentenced him was also arrested for possession of marijuana and didn't get charged!!! Listen to the lyrics again and it'll make sense...
Tool covered no quarter by Led Zeppelin and they got annoyed but Led Zeppelin had spent most of their career ripping off blues musicians so Tool basically wrote this song to call them out on being hypocrite.
