    What do you do when you try to talk to your husband regarding stuff that hurts you but they don’t listen? Yell over you, when they frustrated they pick a fight with you, as put you down? And you stay calm trying to ask them what’s wrong but they won’t listen and hurt you with words and see you in tears and they just walk away??? How do you deal with this? You have so much respect for them but they not showing same respect for you?

    So how does someone let their partner know that they do not feel like they are being heard, that they feel their opinion is not being heard about 'our' home, that they feel slighted when their spouse asks for their opinion but tells them they are going to do it their way anyway, feels undermined when it comes to disciplining the children when the spouse doesn't follow through with a punishment, or they feel like hired help rather than a loved and supported spouse without placing blame?! I feel this way a lot when my husband does or says something either to my face, under his breath, or worse to our children when I'm not around. It makes me feel extremely unappreciated, not supported as a spouse/family member and unloved. When I try to have an open, calm conversation about it, I get my ADHD thrown in my face, or he picks things that I didn't get to around the house (cleaning, or laundry) to use as ammunition to say that I'm not doing my job as a wife/parent. I just don't know how to approach this anymore.

    I lost my wife through infidelity but throughout our marriage we had lots of communication problems which lead to a total breakdown. We also have two children together and I miss them very much. I was the selfish one and couldn't see what she was telling me. Right now I am working on myself really hard so that I can be the man God wanted me to be.
    What advice can you give me that can help?

    • @moniquemurphy4851
      @moniquemurphy4851 Год назад

      You must understand why the infidelity happened. What beliefs do you hold about yourself? Learn what motivates your behavior. Learn about yourself. And love your children unconditionally.

    With communication, I’ve struggled because my child trauma silenced me so I am very on self conscious at times of speaking my mind FULLY and feeling same to fully open up instead of partially. I’m so used to keeping things in or not being able to fully release, that I carry into my relationship and could do better. When I try, sometimes I freeze up or rush, or try to over explain myself, or even try to say things in pursuit of people actually hearing me. It’s hard and I’m REALLY trying to practice communicating better, but I don’t want my relationship to continue to struggle also. Do u have tips for improving communication with this backround overall?

      @Melissa M.
      Your comment and the replies make me feel better because I know that I am not crazy and I am not the only one experiencing this.
      Your every word points to me, I mean this is exactly what I go through..and it is tormenting and draining because communicating this way leads to so much unwanted emotions, misinterpreted gestures, etc
      It is affecting my marriage. My inability to open up fully, express exactly the message without being too careful, to express myself even when I'm being hurt, etc, has led to people treating me poorly, disrespecting me, because all I do is remain silent.
      My husband has helped me so far and today I can stand up for myself, and talk for myself, but when it comes to expressing myself fully with my husband it is challenging because I am very self conscious at that time and I get into the withdrawal mood and communicate slowly with facial expressions, with long silence during talks, etc and even though I have learnt that these are not good for healthy communication, I still struggle with them.
      I believe if not of the love my husband and I have for each other, we would have separated. We are still struggling.
      I pray daily for God's healing and renewal of my mind and life. I pray some day I will be able to have fluent communication without the silent breaks, the partial information, etc.
      I just want to be able to express myself in the best way possible.
      I was sexually taken advantage of at age 12 by a closed loved one, unable to tell anyone I learnt to live with it and the person in my life.
      I lost my mum at age 14 and she died in my arms, from there on I went silent and stopped talking all I did was write for more than 2years.
      I had to be there for my siblings, fight for us, and all.
      I don't expect anyone to understand me nor pity me but sometimes I just want to be able to talk about it and be heard even if the person can't help.
      Growing up has been challenging to me honestly.
      Today I am 28th, married to one of the most amazing human being in the world whole loves, cares and stands by me but I struggle with communicating clearly and it is affecting him too.
      God help me fix my communication style please.

      I too, would like some tips for this. I feel so ashamed everyday being told why can't I get engaged in an emotional conversation. It's not that I don't I am trying but I am also afraid. It's like I'm doing the best I can to communicate but we are not on the same level. She says I don't listen and it makes her hurt because I ask her to repeat. But I ask for explanation because I don't understand, because of my ignorance. But everytime she gets upset, simply because I need more details and information to fully understand. I don't want my household to fall apart simply because of miscommunication or the lack of

    I have no connection with my husband, We don’t have anything to do when we are both home not even to hold a conversation I dont know what to say to him, he doesn’t spoil me on special days, i get defensive and have a harsh tone. We only bond for sex. He seems frustrated at my kids(his step kids) I don’t even know if i love him. He waits for me to do everything for him(dish his food, simple things like dropping the A/c temp when he’s hot or just cooking plain rice) I am so confused this is my 2nd marriage and I’ve thought about divorce a lot of times. I just dont want my kids going thru trauma again

    I tried something closer to this a long time back. It was/is difficult and hard to have verbal communication. I took some white sheets and just wrote down few questions for him. Basic level questions. Invited him if can and first thing if he seriously wants to meet me. He came but he didn't even touch the papers or read any of it. They were normal questions not like he might have to accept in written or anything. Or might get offended. Didn't work. Same argumental situation happened and all efforts his/mine to solve and get my answers were wasted. At one point I think I took hell lot of efforts to think about what type of questions, how to ask him , how to manage etc was for no reason. May be It's just made him feel that "see I am so important that she is making white sheets"...whereas I was trying to help both of us because there were certain basic things from the start of our marriage untold to me. I told him I m doing this for the first time , I am not a psychologist or anything and won't use your answers for anything else but of no use...then I stopped myself from taking efforts.

    I saw the video, amazing. I have tried all the points, but we have not reached anywhere. Party because for many years I have allowed her to take control and not create an argument, which I feel striped o my identity, and I have no voice. Sometimes in an argument, we say wrong things, and I realize my mistake and apologize, but she never does. When I ask for apologies, it is always my fault. It is just a lossing game.

    Can you please give me some communication phrases to say to my husband. We are separated living apart the disconnect between us is so bad that I don't know what to say to him. If I pour out my feelings to him in a text message and say let's go to counseling. He will say no thanks I'm not going to counseling. I have told him what I need yo be happy and asked him to tell me what he needs from me to be Happy. He want give me a list or respond. I have started saying Good morning to him he use to ignore me. Now he is saying Good morning back and I don't say anything else because if I say something he don't respond back. So I don't know what to say to him that will make him forgive me for really only defending myself with words. We both have said hurtful things to each other. He would stop speaking to me fir weeks. If I wanted to talk about the issue he never did. Then one day he would start back talking to me like nothing ever happened and non of our issues were ever resolved. Then he wouldn't forgive me which put resentment, bitterness, and hatred in his heart towards me. When he would be the one that wronged me and my telling him about it always hurt his pride. The truth hurts especially when you won't own up to it. I'm just disresptful to him
