FUN FACT: The quarterback with the most interceptions thrown in a single season with 42 INTs is George Blanda, who is also in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He played for 3 teams in 26 years until the age of 48. While the last 9 seasons of his career were spent in Oakland (as a kicker), 3 of his 4 pro bowl selections came while he was quarterback for the Houston Oilers, including a first team all pro selection while throwing 36 TDs/22 INTs. The year after this is his world famous 27 TD/ 42 INT season WHICH ALSO EARNED HIM A SPOT IN THE PRO BOWL.
You're on the mark here. There's just a slight bit of disingenuity in the video. When you're trailing, you have to take risks. You have to force throws, and the INT rate rises. If you DON'T force throws, you're a loser putz. Worse, if you throw one INT in that situation, your team is even more desperate on the next possession, and the odds go even higher. Favre (walk in HOFer) threw picks as such. Big Ben (future walk in) - same. Romo - same. Situations just demand forcing throws if you are even bothering to try, and INTS happen.
@@Bill_Woo there are always good throws to make, and driving the ball is much more important than one big play. You cant turn the ball over at all, and dont risk it that much. Low risk, medium reward should be the goal. Keep moving the chains. 10-15 yards a play is more than enough
@@pohorex6834 You're completely wrong. 1. There ARE NOT always good throws to make. Are you crazy? What if all eligible are doubled? If 2 RBS stay in to block, that leaves 3 to be doubled. Happens over and over in must-passing situations - one underneath, one on top. Have you ever watched a game?? 2. "You can't turn the ball over at all": that's quite stupid. To pick one of many variations, let's say there are 2 seconds on the clock, and you're down 4 points. What idiotic suggestion are you making: to take a sack? To aim the Hail Mary 10 yards past the end zone? Since those are undeniably idiotic, what then? I'm afraid that you really don't understand football. Come back when you do. Meanwhile, every time you recite something that you read or heard (which no doubt you've done here), understand that it was provided in context. Only liars and fools make proclamations in disregard of relative context. Look forward to hearing your thoughts again after you've spent a few more years intelligently learning the game.
@@Bill_Woo controlling the clock is everything, if you watch a majority of good games, you'll notice the winning team is the one with a higher TOP. And yes, obviously you aim for the end zone with 4 seconds left, I'm not fucking stupid, you are making an argument similar to that of I say "you need to nail a piece of wood" and you say "its idiotic to nail a screw into something." They go deep far too often, and deep plays require great players. 10 yard routes are much safer and you can have almost any reciever that's competent be very successful. And if you are getting double covered the full way, with 2 blockers, you are a dumbass for that play call. Always have a dump off when everyone is covered. And have you ever heard of a zone defense? A defense that double covers all receivers is one that gives up 5 touchdowns a game

Having Jameis Winston as your Starting QB is like having a wife whose either going to burn your house down or give you the best sex of your life. But every night you don't know which one she's gonna do
Throwing for 5,000 yards means one of two things if history has taught us anything. 1.) You're either an elite QB and you're just dotting teams up all season long and going deep into the playoffs or winning the Super Bowl(Brees, Brady, Manning) or 2.) Your team most likely sucks, you're behind in games every week and you're having to throw the ball a lot to make up for deficiencies somewhere else while finishing with a below .500 record, throwing 30 interceptions and missing the playoffs.
Ain't Winston's fault the defense is so damn bad, he cant play both sides of the ball. Put Winson on a good team like New England, New Orleans, Seattle or Green Bay and he will be a forse to be reconed with.
@Constable Dodo FORCE* (among other grammatical errors) And no he would still be throwing INT’s for days man. The defense being bad has nothing to do with him throwing picks and costing his team. (Ironically putting that same shitty defense back on the field to fuck up more) Stop making excuses
Jameis has more career losses with a passer rating over 100 than Tom Brady. Read that again. I've seen this guy go for 350+ 3-4 tds with one or less turnover and still take the hard L. We're talking 18+ point blown leads, last second chip-shot misses... you name it, the fucking Bucs have found a way to lose with it. They're actually notorious for not being able to play a full 60 minutes and choking away football games, in the process squandering some pretty great performances along the way. But here you are, insinuating that all they do is get blown out and face prevent defenses. Couldn't be further from the truth, my guy.
He is working under a COMPLETELY new system. Go look it up Carson Palmer's int numbers went up his 1st year working with Bruce but made big strides the next few years. Even Carson said it's a very complicated system that changes a lot. Give him more time. 5300 passing yards!!! People dont understand that!! He cut his ints, in half he is great.
Kris Wit it Okay, passing yards don’t mean you had a good season. Perfect proof is this year’s qbs. Not a single one of the top 6 QBs in passing yards this year made the playoffs. In fact, all of those teams were pretty shit. I agree that Winston is far from a bum, but the yards argument is a very flimsy one
@@LittleTinyElvis Lol!! Have you been at least a college QB?? BECAUSE I HAVE! AND THROWNING THAT MANY YARDS HAS NOT HAPPENED THAT MANY TIMES FOR A REASON! HAVE YOU SEEN AN NFL PLAYBOOK? IVE SEEN MANY.
akvalues First of all, what a keyboard warrior you are, holy shit. Have you also been to the moon, by chance? Second of all, I never claimed to be a quarterback, HOWEVER, I do claim to be a football analyst, as that is what I’m studying in college. Your QB could throw 90 TDs, but if you also throw 90 picks, you aren’t gonna win games. You seem to be so into stats and passing yards, so tell me: who are the top 6 QBs in passing yards this year, and are their teams in the playoffs? That argument doesn’t work. You know what argument DOES work? Interceptions. The bottom 5 QBs in the league in interceptions all made the playoffs. The top five, (who are actually almost identical to the passing yards leaders) did not. I think Winston is a solid QBs. Obviously he needs work, but he’s above average in my opinion. If you are gonna call me out, do some research instead of screaming something irrelevant. If you have anything that says my stats are incorrect, go ahead. I’m all ears. Otherwise, I don’t wanna hear this shit about how you were a college QB, and became a first round draft pick and won NFL MVP 7 times and after retiring became a rocket scientist and married a supermodel. Lastly, you actually went to college? Your grammar and spelling say otherwise.

Francisco Davis Wrong, so why did Perriman begin to play out of this world when Evans and Godwin went down? Justin Watson played well too, that’s not a coincidence...and Jameis is the reason.
Nebula The interceptions and fumbles can be fixed with a better OLine, and running game. Better running game means less throws for Jameis, which no QB threw more last season. A better OLine means more time to throw, and better running lanes for that better run game. Jameis had these in college, and he lost one game in two years. He’s had garbage around him other than pass catchers, which gets you nothing is everything else around you is trash. @@theswullnasty3353 exactly he’s on the bandwagon shi they literally did nothing on Tampa , Fitzpatrick went to I believe one wildcard game I don’t even think he got that far
Now that I've watched your video, let me see if I understand this correctly: The irony of the jameis situation this year is that the bucs had a QB whose biggest downside was his turnovers, and then hired a coach whose scheme was astronomically more complicated than the last, and THEN evaluate the future of jameis' tenure in tampa based on the number of turnovers he had in this system. I mean, all conversation about Jameis being good or bad aside, they definitely set him up to fail this year when you look at it that way. On a side note, only a handful (fewer than 10 it seems) of jameis' interceptions were the result of his inability or inaccuracy. The others were either because of something he didn't know, coverage, foolhardy throws, or the receiver dropping the pass(into the defender's hands). You can't call it a 'mistake' when the QB throws an interception as a result of him not being good enough to turn that into a completion. You can call it a stupid decision, you can call it good defense, or you can call it a flaw in the scheme. But you can't call it a mistake, because they made a plan, and did everything they could at that moment to execute the plan, and the result was an interception. So, to me, not a bucs fan, it seems like everything going wrong here has the POTENTIAL to be fixed with coaching, fine-tuning, and hard work. But I could be wrong. He might just be a bum that goes full 12 year old with his Xbox controller.
Winston is a great QB and I’ve been saying this since last year. Those numbers don’t lie but if he could control himself on throwing interceptions he’d lead the Bucs to a playoff appearance and be in the MVP race. It’s like he spawned himself on Madden 19.
Maybe i read your comment wrong but I'm failing to understand why we shouldn't consider stupid decisions mistakes? Isn't that exactly what we'd call a mistake? Something that he knows (or should know by now) not to do, yet does it anyways? Why isn't that a mistake?
@@TheWatchernator You are incorrect. Jameis is pretty accurate. QBs don't just throw the ball to the other team. There are times when it's just a good defensive play or scheme or out coaching. If you can't adjust, you become one dimensional. That makes it even harder to read defenses. Receivers and Jameis were learning this new offense....not just Jameis. This is also the 3rd different offense Jameis has learned with no Oline or running game. The total focus shouldn't be on Jameis improvements. He has proven that he can make the throws already. The team just sucks. If he were on another team, he would see and feel the turn overs. It's hard to truly understand that when no turnovers mean you still lose the game, but when you take chances, you when more. Tampa is a 3 win team if Jameis didn't throw any interceptions. The defense couldn't stop anyone, so they had to keep throwing and teams got to just sit back and key on Jameis. Need to stop blaming Jameis....every year has been the same. Even with those receivers, without Jameis, they don't make the pro bowl.

I'm with you. On point, they shouldn't over think /over analyze his play, especially his negative plays. They ought to rather build on this year in his flashes of brilliance, complement his strengths 💪 with an effective running back, and continue to give JW the opportunity to improve his career
The huge difference with Brett Was that he had a defense and a run game. My bucs havnt had a 1000 rusher in 5 years, and my defense hasn't been the greatest thar last few years
Seems to be working out pretty well in NO with a patchwork OL, receiving corps, and defense. 3-2 (same record as with Brees last season), better TD-INT ratio than Brees for the same stretch, and higher QBR. I think the kid has massive potential and Payton's the perfect coach for him. I just hope he can keep it up. I don't want to return to wearing paper bags for decades.
I enjoyed this little doc. I love Winston. He's goofy and funny. People take advantage of his kindness. He's a great player. I wish he had grown under BB.
But this is the last time! If it doesn't work, let him go! another team can work with him if he is the man we think he is, he can be like B. Tannehill and be that person that can show the football world he's a better player than most thought and a leader men, if not, then he not what we thought he was.
Who knows how far Tua could slide. Would be a great fit for a Bruce arians offense. But if I was the bucs I'd pick up a good veteran for a short term contract maybe a year or two. Let tua sit get completely healthy and learn from the vet then come in next year.

You know, I noticed that most of the picks Jameis Winston threw the Bucs were in their own zone at the 25-yard line or less. IDK for some reason, Jameis has a hard time passing the ball and making smart decisions when he's near his own endzone. If Jameis were to come back next season. I would suggest Bruce and Leftwich study this and see how they could remedy it. I could be wrong about this and this might all be a coincidence. Just a train of thought to consider.

@Constable Dodo FORCE* (among other grammatical errors)
And no he would still be throwing INT’s for days man. The defense being bad has nothing to do with him throwing picks and costing his team. (Ironically putting that same shitty defense back on the field to fuck up more)
Stop making excuses
He has had many years and has never become a lock franchise player. I would dump him asap.
11 of those picks aren't his fault

Jack Carlton You haven’t watched the video clearly

Should have made the vid 30:30 seconds long
Now that I've watched your video, let me see if I understand this correctly:
The irony of the jameis situation this year is that the bucs had a QB whose biggest downside was his turnovers, and then hired a coach whose scheme was astronomically more complicated than the last, and THEN evaluate the future of jameis' tenure in tampa based on the number of turnovers he had in this system.
HD Productions the reason why he has high numbers is because of his insane amount of turnovers forcing him to then throw more
Maybe i read your comment wrong but I'm failing to understand why we shouldn't consider stupid decisions mistakes? Isn't that exactly what we'd call a mistake? Something that he knows (or should know by now) not to do, yet does it anyways? Why isn't that a mistake?
@@TheWatchernator
You are incorrect.

I’m a noles fan who lives in Tampa so I always wanted Winston to succeed, if he truly was nearsighted and playing without contacts that lasik is gonna be life changing fr we needa keep him around
"Undoubtedly the best quarterback in Buccaneers History." -Set the Edge

props to set the edge for staying with the buccaneers, since now they’re at the top of the world!
Yesterday, the Bucs finally beat Jameis Winston. Bree's threw three interceptions, Bucs had no turnovers. Feels good, man
I love your content anyway, but Dr. Wily's theme took it to another level.
that outro at the end with the picture if Jameis about to eat a W was gold. major credit to the editing this vid
I think at this point it is safe to say the bucs mad the rights choice moving on from jameis. Tom Brady just got his seventh with them holy shit.
I remember watching this when it was fresh. omg. Go Bucs forever.
