As a lifelong Bucs fan, this is what I have to say Jameis’ tenure here: Our Offensive Line and Running game wasn’t anything to lose sleep over. From 2017-2018, our Defense was so bad to where at 1 point in 2018 they were on track to giving up more yards for the season than our 1976 Defense (76 Defense was giving up about 390 yards per game, our 2018 Defense was giving up nearly 400 per game before Mike Smith was fired). To Jameis’ defense, the losing wasn’t all on him. He had some games where he played well but the Defense looked incompetent. When Arians got in, Quarterbacks usually throw more interceptions on average due to Arians’ aggressive style. Towards the end of the 2019 season, our WR Corps was hammered with injuries to where Jameis was throwing to guys who were backups and occasionally practice squad players. He definitely had some moments that were indefensible to where it was straight up infuriating to witness, that being said, the losing from 2017-2019 wasn’t entirely his fault. In the end though, we got Tom Brady from Free Agency and won Super Bowl 55. 👍

Did Jameis sleep with Dennis Allen’s wife? Allen had such a one-sided beef with him. I have never seen someone more happy to start a washed Carr and an ancient Dalton over a healthy Winston (not to mention he was first in line to throw him under the bus at every opportunity.) Winston might not be regarded as starting QB anymore, but absolutely NOBODY regard Dennis Allen as a head coach.

@@incarnateflame3462 Brees?? The reason he isnt mentioned is because the topic is about talented Quarterbacks, and because Brees was certainly hardworking, but wasnt talented (like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana).
      1. *There is a reason the Chargers kicked Brees out, got rid of him and then replaced him with Philipp Rivers* (the same way the Bucs kicked out Winston).
      2. There is a reason Drew Brees got his Superbowl win (and his only good year) the same year, his team was involved in the illegal "Bounty gate scandal".
      3. As the NFL are cowards as always, they didnt have the balls to ban the completely illegal Saints team that entire year, and thats how they won the Superbowl. Dont pretend you forgot that part of history.

Completely agree. Being an NFL QB is a vocation, a divine, spiritual calling and a blessing from God. Unfortunately he didnt take it seriously. He simply didnt understand that there are currently 53 Million men between the ages of 11 and 31 in America, who would dream to have his talent and he decided to waste it.
Whenever I see Jamais, I see a player laughin, jumping, clowning, smiling, gooding and running around like a fool, everything except taking Football seriously. He is CLEARLY talented. Throughout the history of the NFL there have been only 5 players who have thrown more than 5000 yards and more than 30 touchdowns in a season (Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino and Jamais Winston). So the talent is clearly there. He simply didnt take is seriously.

The problem is most of your fanbase seemingly never cared about the 75% of the season. Crap, yall still blame him for 2019 when your defense and special teams lost the games against the Giants, Seahawks, Saints, and Falcons. Jameis Winston throw 33TDs and 30 interceptions with the 2020 defense and Succop is winning 12 games.

As a Browns fan im so glad we got Winston. Hes accurate and a known slinger! Ill take them odds. Wr's play better with Winston because they know they got a chance. I believe he is starting QB and now that he's healthy, his experience will make him next level. Hes only 30!

@@sandrabecht613 Baker was hot stanking trash in 22. He just got another shot, for reasons. And if you actually pull back the layers, the Bucs were better offensively than 2019, even with 30 interceptions. Yall lost more games due to the offense sucking this past season than yall did in 2019. Crazy how narratives work out...

    • @topdogalpha

Baker has zero offield issues and is not a turnover machine like winston. Never came close to 30 ints in a year.
Not to mention winston leaves the bucs, they win a superbowl the next year with a new qb. Baker was never on a team that good.
Their situations are not the same

    • @jahsoul357
      @jahsoul357 2 месяца назад

@@topdogalpha Baker isn't a turnover machine? In the only season that Winston lead the league in interceptions, please tell me who was #2? He threw 21 with the same OC that Winston had from 2016-2018.
Also, when Winston left the Bucs, they brought in Gronk, AB, Lenny, Succop, drafted Wirfs and Winfield and with all of that, the Bucs still struggled until they changed the offense for Brady after the bye week.
Their situations aren't the same but your view of it is as off the mark as it could be. As I mentioned, the 2023 Bucs lost more games due to horrible offense than the 2019 team with Winston throwing 30 (anybody that watched the games would know that 16 came 4 games).

Just cuz he isn’t a starter doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get his flowers. Pretty rare for any QB to have longevity in this league

Famous Jameis was a bit immature coming out of college, sort of didn’t have the mental aspect down that’s so crucial to reading defenses and knowing where and when to throw into coverage. So, despite the talent and obvious skill, he became known for his untimely turnovers. The video clips and narration is excellent. 👏🏼

I don’t remember a rise in his career. He had flashes of greatness but was as inconsistent as you could be. His 30/30 season will probably never be duplicated. 30 td and 30 int. Similar to Tebow, his college teams were so good that it masked his subpar talent as a qb. Matt Lionert is another in that category. Amazing college career, complete bust in the NFL.
