  • A demo of the 60s Myth for Mustang Antiquity II Vintage style pickups from Seymour Duncan. I have the 60s Jet for Jaguar set in my Vintage Modified Jaguar and they're superb, and these for the Mustang are equally brilliant!
    I play a bunch of Nirvana stuff as I've been listening to the recent 20th Anniversary Reissue of In Utero. Cheers! M xo

    Also don’t forget kurt used extremely high output humbuckers compared to these accurately vintage low output single coil pups (for which mustangs are probably the lowest output of all)

    That toronado bridge looks great on a mustang body. I would've never thought of doing that :)

      This is the first iteration of the Mustang! Dynamic vibrato versions appeared a little bit later

    I'm a fan of fender in general and in particular the jaguar/jazzmaster/mustang/ etc. Thank you for the upload. You've sold me on these pickups for a mustang I have for sure. Oh, and that is a beautiful guitar you've got. I'm jealous!

    I just got the antiguity pickups for my 1969 MIJ reissue and the tone changed significantly! Sounded more like I remember my 1972 Mustang.

    Thanks for the demo. Definitely sounds better than the CIJ pickups. I have the 69 CIJ Mustang and the pickups were cheaply made, plastic bobbins ,ultra thin copper wire, I put some GFS pickups in, they sounded fine on my line 6 amp butonce I got a tube amp they sounded really bad, not enough power. You should install a 2 way phase switch so you can play your pickups out of phase if you like that sound.

    I'm back and bearded! This was done with a mixture of Garageband Amp sims and also a Catalinbread DLS MkIII pedal for the last In Utero dirt section
    Cheers

    Loved the all-Nirvana demo. Thanks for sharing. I really like your Antiquity IIs and agree that they're probably more versatile and modern. But boy howdy - those stock CIJ pickups sounded magical for some of these licks. Did you hang onto them?

    They do have a much more sophisticated, complex sound. And more depth I would say. The distortion is wonderful as well

    Could you please make a video demoing them?

    The Antiquity picks sound amazingly superior to the stock pickups. And your guitar playing is fine. It sounded good to me anyways. :)

    I notice that the Antiquities come with a wiring diagram that is specific to the mustang models with the two top switches, but I'm assuming you can just wire to the three way switch instead?

    Sounds brighter and that's about it. The Mustang sound gets lost with the three way toggle. You need those 2 magic switches man.

    I just got one of the Vintera Mustangs and it’s like the perfect Mustang for me in every way except I feel as if the pickups aren’t as good as real vintage ones were. Sort of close but more muddy and not as defined. Maybe I should get these antiquity ones once I can afford them. They sound amazing in this video! Hope they’re still available. Gotta check

    • @goosegaskins
      @goosegaskins 4 года назад

      How are you liking the 7.25" radius? That's the only thing holding me back from the Vintera. I have a Vintage Modified Mustang, and I worry the smaller radius will be confining.

    I actually liked the originals. The SDs just sounded louder. Must be totally different though when you’re the one playing. Think I’ll keep mine for the moment and buy a set if i see some used!

    • @sandralee4042
      @sandralee4042 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah I don't think people understand how to use stock Japanese Mustang pickups. You can get amazing sounds out of them if you just set your pedals differently, and turn up your amp slightly. They are amazing pickups with my fuzzboxes.

      I seem to be in the minority, but for my taste, I liked the original pickups better. The new SDs did sound clearer though, but too bright for me.

    respectfuly, keep playing and getting better and better but you're rhythm needs some work. so does mine. if you can't play with a band or drummer, practice playing at lower volumes with the albums so you can hear your guitar, Kurt's, bass and most importantly you have to hear the drums. otherwise good work nice mustang build and the new Seymour Duncan pickups sound great. they will sound thin at high volumes tho. can't beat a humbucker live.
