  • In what is a first of it's kind on the channel, we take a very deep dive into the Haval Jolion crash test/safety rating results. The results were released by Ancap in September 2022 and well they put a lot of minds at ease.
    We made use of the clips from Australian Ncap and Euro Ncap when compiling this video, however, the results are coming from Australian Ncap for both cars. Ancap did not have a complete video of our sparring vehicle, the Mercedes Benz EQA.

      😅 Michael, I love Haval but the Merc was not slow. It was actually faster on the first frontal offset test but did the same speed on everything else. I agree that the level of strictness may have improved but I think the Merc would return similar results still. As for Haval, it really did well😉

Many people trust German's cars without learning more about them. I am glad it was compered with a car that is well trusted and way more expensive (cost) but almost equal by value. Well done!

      Hehe, I am not sure if they are still operating. Every brand has issues and the point is to assess if the issues are abnormal or not, over the 5 years that Haval has been here I think many people saw that it's just normal issues. This will add to it's credibility, especially on a vehicle loved so much. I do intend on doing a POV drive verbal review, I am waiting for the dealership to confirm appointment at the right time, but I will do it soon. When I share non verbal reviews, the aim is usually to focus of features with not much disturbance to the audience. I always try to do POV drive as soon as possible but it takes a bit of time and I drive further than normal tests, so I do it by appointment mostly. I hope to do it very soon. They are also launching the Hybrid this week!

    I own a Haval H6 2023 which has an identical appearance to the Jolion in the video. The front and side pillars are huge and the windows are higher when I compare it to my previous car Rav4 2007. Also the doors feel heavier. I suspected it was for safety. The Rav4 2023 was my first choice because my previous car never failed me but it was 50 percent more expensive than the H6 when I purchased it back in May 2023 and the H6 offered waaaayy more gimmicks and features.

    Don’t forget that the Mercedes hit a STATIONARY object at 64kph and the Haval Jolion travelling at 50kph hit the oncoming object which was also travelling at 50kph. I wonder how the Mercedes would score in the post 2020 criteria, not well I’m sure

    • @sebuwam

      I hear you! I did not think of that, I kept asking myself why the lower speed

    • @triple-alphatv2946
      @triple-alphatv2946 Год назад +1

      Hitting a STATIONARY SOLID object at 64kph imparts more force than hitting an incoming object of the same solidity, shape mass and speed (mass and speed of the car being tested) travelling in the opposite direction at 50 kph. The differential force delta is proportional to the difference between the two speed numbers 64 and 50 that is [14 kph]. If you think travelling at the same speed (50kph) in the opposite direction will produce a crash equivalent to the double (100kph) the original speed, you're wrong.

    • @mrepaws
      @mrepaws Год назад

      @@mrepaws Don't play me, you implied it😎. Crash at 64 kph against a stationary object imparts more energy/momentum thus destruction than a crash at 50 kph against an other incoming car of the same weight at the 50 kph. The differential is in the 14kph variable. That is p = Δv(14) * m. Assuming car masses are equal.

  • @zimcoder
    @zimcoder Год назад +4

    I think using a luxury car that costs at least 3 times as a base was a bad choice, it would have been better to use the Jolion's actual rivals.

    • @sebuwam
      @sebuwam  Год назад +14

      Fair point Clem, I looked at it differently. I could take other cars but my aim was not really to compare (as much as it leads to that at the end of the day) but I wanted something unquestionable and trusted beyond reasonable doubt so to bring it's safety to light. Had I chose a Kia Seltos, one would still be asking themselves "just how safe is Kia Seltos" but you don't have that question when it comes to Mercedes.

    Witnessed the aftermath of a 100kph head on collision between two vehicles today, a Polo and small bakkie, there were no survivors with six dead. All these tests are done at city driving speeds and they never do any tests at highway speeds which is what I would like to see.

    • @sebuwam
      @sebuwam  Год назад +1

      100kph is a lot, these are made mostly anticipating impact speed not the speed before impact. It does not matter which car you are driving, collision at 100kph will most likely cause fatalities unless it's not a head on. Size and weight of the vehicle that hit the other will count as well!

    • @janrdoh
      @janrdoh Год назад +1

      @@sebuwam Yes, I was highlighting the flaw in this kind of testing. In the real world impacts occur at much higher speeds and involve varying size vehicles, these kind of tests give a false sense of safety when conducted at lower speeds. Wow interesting view Sebuwa. Thanks a lot. I feel like NCAP as consumers we barely look into wen buying cars and it’s so important as it keeps us safe. Most of the rear passengers seem they were going to get “whiplash” which is quite painful at times..anyway the Haval is doing great - isn’t the Haval supposed to compete with its own price range?😮😫🫣
    Do you have the NCAP of the Chery Tiggo range🙆🏾‍♂️?

      I think people need to know about it more. With more city cars coming into the market, people need to be aware of the manufacture's intention with them, this thing of Kwid/Dutson Go pushing us on the fast lane is not on, those cars' safety ratings show clearly that it's for low speed City run arounds. 🤔! The whiplash test was done on both cars but I did not include it, they both got perfect scores but I think they do it with front passengers only. Haval is doing amazingly well, I needed to use something unreasonable to it so to show that they really worked hard on this thing. Unfortunately the Chery(s) have only been done in China and it's not the versions that we have here, as much as it's the same platform, it might be argued that it's not the same car!🤔... Otherwise thank you so much for coming through as usual Ozem🙂

      I think Sebuwa used Merc as a benchmark of NCAP .. instead of using cars of the same price range.
