I didn't know what the clippy thing was for either. Seems a bit silly. Thanks for bring it up... Suppose you won't be mentioning it in your future videos. lol
I totally agree with the 10 stupid points. However, as an owner of a Haval 2022 H6 Vanta, I LOVE my SUV. It gives the big brand SUV's a big run for the bucks. The Rav4 maybe a nice SUV, but the prices are just too high and not justified. If Haval can fix up the little quirks, it will make a good vehicle great. Big brands... watch out. Should you buy a Haval??? Absolutely!!!
At that end of the market with all the toys, you find stupid things that give you the SHlTS, so look the the price, it's the best for that. The Haval is the 2nd car, picking up my new GWM ute in 2 weeks.
Thank you. I'm an H6 owner also. I think it's a great car that could be improved with the following: - Power delivery profile of gears 1 - 3 can be improved. - Suspension feels too floaty, and longitudinal dampening needs to be significantly improved. The suspension is comfortable but leaves something to be desired. - Driving settings cannot be saved. - Front collision warning alarm is surprisingly laggy. It takes 2.5 seconds to send a caution signal, by which time the hazard is gone or the accident has already happened. Moreover, it cannot be turned off, which becomes annoying in congested traffic. - No volume control on the console (only on steering wheel). - Road noise must be reduced to keep up with the competition. - Central console controls should be simplified further with bigger buttons, less nested menus and an easier to read font. - Control console animations (transitions between screens) should be removed. The camera transition screens are annoying when parking, and the camera screen symbols are mysterious. - AC should have physical controls, and there should be music buttons and a volume knob. - Screen mirror app is missing. - The steering wheel has too many controls. It should be intuitive to operate.
I think it's fair to have our own lists but I found some of your points a bit too nit-picky, such as no screen mirror app.... That's what I'd call "reaching"! 😉 GWM needs to improve key things such as the stupid invasive ELK and seemingly unstable connectivity with USB ports. That would already be a great start!
Thanks for your video, I totally agree with ALL your comments 👍🏼 I've had my Haval H6 Ultra for 6 days & found all of those things sooo Stupid especially ELK & my Android drop outs very frustrated 😠. But aside from those 2 main things I am liking my car lots. Cheers Happy Easter 🐣 😊🎉
Hey thank you for the comment and apologies for late reply - I've been on holidays. Glad you like your H6 (I still mostly like mine too!) and yeah those ELK things are absolutely and inexcusably stupid.
I completely agree with all your points. All the items you mentioned are absolutely stupid, not deal breakers. My biggest gripe is the infortainment system. The UI and functions are poor and basic. The sound is not good at all, distorted lows and harsh highs. For my system, the audio feels like it's going through a hard limiter (for those who understand audio) and vocals go loud when there is no bass but drop low when the bass comes in, annoying.
totally agree with most of the comments .... but i'd like to add few more issues that mostly you will face them later .... 1- fuel pump ( could not last more than 1 year if you use your car with low fuel " looks like it can not handle the heat not sure" ) and even if you change it it will keep brake down and the only solution that we fund in our area is to replace it with korean or japanes one ... 2- transmission it can not stand the heat too and after 150k it needs to be replace ( still looking for a solution ) but any how looks like it can not last for longer time 3- some of plastic parts can not stand the sun too ( for hot area ) and its only a matter of time until you see some of them start to pumped and cracked
Very sincere comments, as a Chinese I do hope GWM and all other Chinese car makers can take such comments seriously so that they can go further and become competitive car makers in the world
Don't find lane keep an issue at all. It's actually great once you know some tricks, makes a long drive more cruisy and safe. For an owner of 9 months I'm not sure how you can not know your car well by now, most complaints seem more owner based silliness than the car. I'd buy again for sure
@@ValueCarsAU No worries, I do enjoy you vids and style keep up the good work. Just have a different view on these things I guess which is ok. Elk is compulsory in all new cars to not be turned off so not just a Haval thing. Once you know your car and tech it's no big deal. Maybe too smart than stupid, 😂
the sunshade cover clip its not stupid from china at all they put it there for arabs because they know arabs like to put pic there 😂 either kids pic or saint or parying paper 😁
Another great vid Dimitri, most of your points are also relevant to the Jolion as well so probably standard GWM fare. On the Jolion both front usb ports are on the passenger side, just cost saving by not changing them to suit the rhd market. If you lift the rubber mat on the wireless charging port there is a cutout to allow the phone cable to be threaded through, all neat and tidy. Skinny steering wheels are nothing new, I started driving in the sixties and every car on the UK market had hard skinny steering wheels. Seat cushion, so many people complain they are too short but in fact they are no shorter than many other cars, I’ve measured several as a comparison. Jolion 49x49cm, Honda CRV 49x49cm, Mazda CX5 49x49cm, Toyota Corolla 50x50cm and Toyota Yaris 50x50cm. There is another unacceptable issue with the floor mats, they are held in place by a small Velcro strip, they look good when new but after six months use the drivers mat does not stay in place, it slips around every time you get into the car and can be dangerous. A couple of additional dislikes on the Jolion, there is no reach adjustment on the steering wheel and there is no height adjustment on the seat belts.
Hmm all very interesting insights as always, Derek, thanks mate. And I didn't know that there's a threading through for the phone cable, I'll check! Thanks
Great video, BTW... ooh, and you're not going crazy with the usb port not working properly. I used a jolion rental. And had some problem in that car. Really made my trip hard!.
I forgot to mention. Might put your mind at ease. I hear you and a lot of people complain about lane keeping. How it pulls you a lot. Before I bought my h6. I was driving a 2022 hyundai i30. I found that in my 8 months of owning before I sold it and got the h6. Was that the lane keeping in the i30 was just as bad if not slightly worse than the havel..I think the tech is bad in general. But hyundai does it more worse. When I had hyundai I used to get so angry on how annoying it was. Going from that to havel. I'm not to annoyed it's there like I was in hyundai.
As a Haval H6 owner, my biggest frustration is that when going around a corner with cruise control activated, the car slows down excessively, which could potentially create a dangerous situation. I really hope they address this issue in a future update.
Another great video Dimitri. The sun visor things can hold your garage remote or your work car parking pass. Silly they didn't swap the USB over to our driving side. $500 for floor mats. Tell em there dreaming. Agee with the sun glass holder. Cancer council recommends wrap around sun glasses. Once your in manual mode how do you change the gears? In an auto with a stick you tap the gear lever up and down. My wifes car the steering wheel is thin. If we go any distance in it, the inside of my hands get sore from the thin line of pressure on them. I looked where I order all my car mats and they don't have rubber mats for the H6 either. Look forward to the next episode.
Hey mate, thanks! Once you're in manual, you use the little paddle-shifters on the steering wheel - I've never tried to drive like that, but I understand that's what you're supposed to be doing. Exactly! Thin steering wheels are evil mate! 🤣
Great vid. Most of your gripes are just cost saving items, especially the rotary shifter. Sunvisor clip is common across many manufacturers. The app idea is simple and sort of thing all manufacturers could do for next to nothing. I'm seeing a lot of H6 on the road, Haval is definitely catching up with MG numbers wise.
Thanks mate, yeah I'm seeing more Havals too, which is great to see. Maybe it'll make MG move their butts and become more competitive with the brands catching up to them rapidly.
Regarding connectivity and Andoird Auto suddenly shutting off, it happened to me, too. I thought it was something related to the car, but it turned out to be my phone that was a little bit old and kinda full of stuff, with virtually no more space for the system to work properly. I got fed up with the phone for several reasons different than the behavior with Andoid Auto, and the new phone works wonderfully, it doesn't disconnect at all, so far, at least.
Hmm interesting, what phone model do you use? Mine is definitely not old (last years Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 PRO 5G model) and not full of stuff so it can't be the reason.
Ah many of these are personal preference. Intelligent Driving - Yes agree on that. Frustrating that it doesn't save, but probably a safety feature that it turns on all the emergency features Thin Steering Wheel - disagree, personal preference. I love the thin wheel Haval Gear Shifter - disagree. Have I accidently turned on Manual? Yes a few times, but I very quickly realise and switch Sunshade Mirrors - like mentioned in other comments, that's a purposeful clip USB Port placement - like mentioned in other comments, that's from switching driver position USB Connectivity - yes I've experienced this a few times. Not enough to be irritating Carpet Mats - disagree, personal preference. Front Seat Cushion - can't comment here, I'm average height Sunglasses Holder - all of my and my husband's sunglasses fit in this. Understand it could be frustrating. Instruments and Themes - I enjoy the themes. Would love there to be more.
Hi Thanks for the review. Unfortunately I found it too late. I have a H6 GT Ultra. Agree with your 10 stupid things. Furthermore, I have a serious issue with my Bluetooth microphone is faulty. When I call people, they can't hear me and say my voice is faint and keeps dropping in & out. Had it twice to Service only to be made to feel like I am neurotic as they assure me it works fine. However they only ran a software update & did not look at the actual microphone. Wondering if anyone else has this problem? Thanks again.
Hey sorry to hear about your microphone problem and you made me giggle about your "neurotic" comment haha... They should investigate in properly, i.e. you should demonstrate it to them at the service centre. Have you tried a different Bluetooth connection device, e.g. a different adapter? Borrow one from a friend? Buy one cheap? It could be dodgy bluetooth connection or interference from a local cell tower or something like that (just guessing).
Hey thanks for the reply! My son has managed to record me speaking to him on the phone. So will send that to them. Also seen a message on another site about same issue now. I will try my son's phone as well. Has happened on many different occasions. I will keep pressing ahead. The said warranty won't cover it because they can't find a fault. This is the most serious issue & shows GWM does not care about after sales service. (Via Von Bibra Robina) People should know about that. Thanks again.
I have this issue too, I've taken it back to the dealer twice now and they just look at me like I'm making it up. I use the car for work and its impossible for me to do my job when I can't be heard. Did you get any resolution from your dealer?
The USB cutting out, better see the dealer, did a run from Syd to Mel, USB never cut out Seat size, I'm 6'4" (193cm) I didn't even know the seat was shorter till I went to fit a seat cover last summer (I like shorts in summer and hate seats the BURN YOU TO DEATH) for my hot car seats. I need glasses, my prescription sunglasses fit fine and live in the car. The tab on the sunvisor is a clip, I use it for bits of paper like tickets in a parking station. Gear knob, I like the 2nd turn, get to play with the flappies ..... put in 2nd gear and dump it for a good burnout. Using apps is not good, I can show you a lot of German & US made cars things don't work in because the OS nolonger has support. When Win XP lost support MB & BMW oners had to pay $2,000 to $6,000 for up dates so things worked again, some needed hardware and software, you know the ones looking at the cost, but when win 11 or Mac OS support is cut more cost in updates. Driver assist, %^&&&%^%%#%#*%%^$# I HATE IT, Been driving for 44 years and have never crashed a car on the road. on the track I have not been so lucky, hard to get out when you park on your roof. Data/USB took for ever to work out how to load an audiobook using a USB, car needs a CD player. I'm old, my phone is old and not a smart phone. Car mats, mine came with the car at no cost, when I was looking some Dealers did charge for them. For the people who don't know, you go to you local dealer and find the car you want, then go online and find the price you want and do the paper work online and pick it up from your local dealer. eg: over 70% of the Ford Taxis in Sydney NSW for over 20 years were sold by the For dealer in Griffith and picked up at the local Ford dealers. The sale reps don't like it, not making money, the dealers don't mind, still pick up on service and parts. With computers a dealer can pick any car in Australia and mark it as sold then get it moved to any dealer for pick up.
Thanks for sharing your experience and a generous writeup mate. Driver assist is what kills this car, not the other little nitty-bitty things, in all honesty. They need to polish their software, as the rest is pretty on the money.
@@ValueCarsAU Thats my mother Haval, 2 weeks after getting it the Doctor told she couldn't drive any more, so I have been driving her around alot and had it for the 2 weeks my car was off the road. I'm picking up my new GWM ute/pick up on Friday (BLUE) and my new H6 on the 26 of june, (also BLUE) OK I like the blue. Right time of year for a tax deal in Australia. For the ones who don't know how to work tax, 1 person 2 cars H6 only used to go nice places, GWM pick up for every thing eles and I get it all back on tax. Did the same in 2002 with a Fairlane and Falcon ute, in 10 years I did 950,000km in the ute and got it all back on tax, fuel ect the lot, the Fairlane only did 21,000km over the same time, got a XR6 Falcon in 2012 and it has 1,050,000km on it now and the Fairlane only has 46,000km. and still like new.
Hey dimitri. Another great video. Thank you for all your content. With the wireless car charging pad, I believe you can lift it up and keep your usb cable stored there so the phone can fit with the cable. But I still understand the frustration. Keep up the great work! :)
The sunshade mirors at 7:12 it's made for handling little documents like car registration driving license etc I have same thing in my ford explorer 2023
Hi Dimitri. Very informative video again. Many thanks. I'm not the owner of the H6 yet but soon will be I hope. As you said, great value, good looking SUV. Until next time, cheers. Chris. Sunshine Coast.
Thanks mate! I still think H6 is a very good car. Spoiler alert - in a week I've scheduled a review and a comparison of my H6 to H6GT, which you'll be interested to see! 😉👌
GWM has a place on the website that you can give some points of improvenment. I gave them one, 360 cam view, add record to it so the car has it's own dash cam.
Yes I have commented before about the braking for no reason when going around a corner with cruise control on its very scary and a hazard for the car behind you
Totally mate and I remember you bringing it up. Another thing the car does is briefly flash emergency lights if it goes over any bump on the road - alerting everyone behind you most likely - did you notice something similar?
This video is great. I was thinking about buying a Jolion since june 2023... and its still on my mind (Working my way towards it)... But recently met someone who said that he purchased his in 2022. The paint of his car looks like its flaking off, the rubers are loose, one of the door needs to be list up a bit to close, and the screen is damaged and he said that its not covered by the warranty. (Couldnt ask to look for more, the person wasnt telling me all the issues.. cause he wanted to sell his car) I need an opinion from someone whose been riding this car for a while to give me their genuine opinion please 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'd be keen to hear from someone who is a proven private owner and who didn't park the car in acid for 2 years, as what you're describing sounds extremely unusual and irregular. I know I have viewers from far QLD who have Jolion in ownership, maybe they'll catch up to your comment and reply.
I don't agree with the clip Part, it's very useful for parking lot tickets. That's why it is there. The other I agree and thank you for pointing it. And one contribution: memory for the driver seat. It would be great, even if it was only available at the system, like in the BYD Seal. But I agree the car is very good!
Hi Dimitri, the USB port issue is due to the car conversion to Australia and they did not that with the USB, it’s annoying but you do get used to it. Also the gear shifter is very annoying, but again you do get used to it. All the best.
Good point about left hand drive, they prob didn't convert it to our side of the wheel... And parking ticket thing, I'm just not used to it and still find it a bit stupid and misleading as it looks like a not working mirror handle. 🤷♂️
@@ValueCarsAU well now that you know what it is, don't you find "stupid" is a rather heavy word to use for a handy feature that is widely known and used in many other cars?
I watched your review, discussed with friends and family and decided to take the risk in buying a Haval, the cost vs value equation is not even comparable to other brands. One of the main issues you have highlighted is that the safety features cause hindrance/wrestle with you during driving. I have now drive n the car enough to say that I dont see any issues with that at all. Here is why: 1. All of the smart features get deactivated at 50, so issues below 50 and they start back on at 60. 2. The lane centering assist works really well and actually helps relieve some if driving streas, the moment you turn in an indicator, the car completely releases the steering to allow you to move lanes. 3. The only situation where the car will wrestle with you still even when an indicator is on, is when you have a car behind you in the lane you are going go. It seems Haval kept a wider tolerance here and you will have to firmly hold the steering is you absolutely need to go into a lane which has a car right behind(tighter spot). I still dont see this as a big problem, with some change kn driving habits, Its manageale. Overall, I am still convinced the car is an absolute value fir money, the safety features work well and aid in safer driving. Statistics clearly indicate that these systems are helping reduce accidents and I trust them even if that means I have to get used to safer driving with indicators and enough space when entering lanes
The failing of connectivity wires for charging or using for Android Auto, I faced this same situation on my Infiniti QX80.. i changed about 3 cables and USB docks as my phone suddenly stops charging or provide fast charging capability... until i discovered that my phone rejects any 3rd party cables .. i had to buy original car usb adaptor and cable from samsung and ever since then i had no such issues again! Give it a try!
Number 4 is for parking tickets or car registration cards, stuff like that. I used a lot in my Jeep. 5. I know why the USB is in the passenger side. Because originally that is the driver’s seat and you drive in the wrong (joking) side. They missed to switch that connection when they made the right side driving versions. It happens also with the turn signals in the Mahindra Pikup when they made the left hand driving version
Lol 4 - that is really handy item for cards and other items😲 5 - USB port lift the rubber mat up and look at the Nice hole that can be fed nicely too route the cable up😮
@@ValueCarsAU Demitri Doo you like the newly revamped hs in the trophy form it may be titled something else in Oz but basically its their top of range ?
Leave your phone cable connected to the USB port all of the time. If you never have to plug/unplug it many, many times it won't give you any problem. You can buy different length cables with right angle type c / usb to be the perfect solution. I found the perfect cable for my car and you hardly even notice it. Then buy another cord to use elsewhere (home or office etc). As for the sun visor it is obviously for a cark park ticket. As for the lane assist issue, no manufacturer would or can offer a permanent disable of a safety system.
I have left the cable connected for a while and yet Android Auto still cuts in and out intermittently, without me doing anything. I'll look into other options like wireless Android Auto connection soon... The clip - I still find it a bit misleading and wouldn't put my parking ticket in there in any case. Not used to it.
Good video. Yes and No. I have a H6 Ultra 4WD which was delivered in Nov 2021and I love the car. I agree with the majority of your points except the mirrors, which others have commented on here, and the theme. I had heard there was a patch for the lane assist/cruise control also, but I asked the dealer about this at my last service and they told me there was no such thing. My vehicle has the Heads Up Display, so I use the space theme and it doesn't bother me. As for the seats, I am 196cm and don't have a problem. And yes, even the back seat is comfortable for me with drivers seat all the way back. I was surprised that 2 of my biggest gripes were not included in your video. 1. I find that keeping the cameras on makes it easier to avoid hitting curbs when steering, but the side affect of this is that when you are stationary and have the indicators on, the camera is enabled and then you cannot access the radio, AC etc unless you turn the indicator off. 2. This is my biggest gripe, and I think a very poor design flaw. Have your ever washed your vehicle and tried to raise the wipers up from the windscreen? They hit the back edge of the bonnet and you can't raise them. Even when you open the bonnet they cannot be raised fully either, so how you are supposed to replace your wiper blades is a mystery to me. Other than that, I do love my car and would not discourage anyone from getting a Haval. As others have posted, with a few changes to fix these niggly little problems, these cars would be perfect. Keep up the good work.
Good additions, but strange that the invasive ELK that wrestles you to stay in the lane even when indicating to turn doesn't bother you? Maybe where you are they've patched it up, but not in Australia.
on the wiper problem you mentioned. I think there is something you need to trigger so that the wiper will move themselves to the vertical position. I have to do that to my previous volkswagen polo sport tsi.
Looking at buying the H6 myself and understand your points. You're right about the invasive intelligent cruise control, brakes for the slightest cornet but there is a "patch" to fix that. If you haven't encountered it I'd say that your dealer did the patch before you got your car. With the mats it depends on your dealer I think. My local dealer includes the mats with your choice of either carpet or rubber with high sides. Any decent dealer should include whichever mats you want with the car. Good video, keep up the good work.
Thanks Craig, I spoke to GWM and they are not aware of any software patch. So there's some disconnect - maybe it's available in e.g. South Africa but not here in AU - at least not to the knowledge of the main service centre in Sydney.
@Value Cars Australia there's some disconnect somewhere. I'm in Australia and after a test drive that's what the dealer told me. Took another one for a test drive test had the issue fixed and it was quite good. Pick mine up day after tomorrow, got the Ultra AWD, looking forward to it.
@@craigconstable4507 hi how do you like your Ultra H6? We picked ours up a few days ago, the same model 4wd. We’re happy with our choice and it drives beautifully. Did you find out if there’s an update? Ours isn’t due for a service for several months. I find the only annoying thing is having to turn off the ELK and traffic sign recognition every single time before driving! Does anyone here know if these functions can be turned off ‘permanently’ without having to enter the menu? Thank you😊
@ijs2712 Sorry, didn't realise your reply was there. Very happy with it. Really only the ACC that annoys me. The ELK I only turn off on longer trips, it's OK around town so not with the hassle. Spoke to my dealer again about the ACC and I must have gotten something confused because their isn't a fix for the ACC but it is something they're trying to work out with Haval. The traffic sign recognition shouldn't do anything other than show up the l last speed sign recognised unless you have your ACC set to operate off that.
Don't fo it. Owned mine for less than 2 years and oil issues, and now brand new engine required. I'm not the 1st person with H6 who has had the exact same issue.
Oh mate, these 10 scratches the surface; 1. The throttle control in this car is TERRIBLE. This car literally goes from 0-100 with 20% throttle movement. It's like they made no effort to deliver the power properly, they could have done it with TPS tuning and boost control but for some reason they sent it out like this. 2. The auto engine switch off economy function needs some major tuning back at haval, it'll turn the car off when you're rolling into a round about. Best fix for that is to just turn it off altogether because it's dangerous. 3. Hill start control is dangerous, sometimes it'll just decide not to hold you anymore and you'll roll backwards in drive, without an actual handbrake handle it's an issue. 4. Lane assist & cruise control is general is a disaster, constant big brakes when the highway slightly changes direction. Probably a bunch more things but yeah for 30k odd it's not a bad car, just a shame all of these issues could have been addressed so easily with some fine tuning.
I never measured throttle, but will take your word for it, it's definitely not a race car. Auto stop-start thing is flat out EVIL across the industry and needs to be phased out or be able to be turned off permanently, hill start control - haven't tried, really, and ELK - you know how I feel about that criminally dangerous crap they've implemented in H6... (thank you for sharing!)
I belive the point number 4 duo to the fact that big part of China drives from the right side and its basically build for right side. Probably someone in the design team never tought about those usb chargers. Because If you drive from the right side the straing wheel will be to the left :D. The 6th point about the glasses, those holders are never been of good use. Its not only that car its big part of the cars who actually have any of those, I belive that most of the best brand new models dont even have one of those anymore. :D
Good points my friend, RHS steering wheel placement vs. USB that they couldn't bother changing, which is fair enough. I'm mostly annoyed about their emergency lane keeping, as everything else is just negligible.
Hmmmm good point! I was only talking about what bothers me though, or prominent feedback such as short seats, and I've never needed to fit anything in the boot.
Sorry about that. I’m about to buy a h6 hybrid tomorrow. Your video was helpful. Thank you. I’m hoping the 23 model fixed the map drop out issue. Do you know if they have?
What about not being able to change your favourite radio stations via steering wheel. You have to press the Info screen which is distracting while driving.
Hey demetry. Was wondering. Did u ever notice that your mg has smoother beaks.. when I drive my wife's mg 3.. breaking feels normal and smooth. When I drive my h6.. I find I have to put alot more pressure to slow down the car. Meaning I have to make sure I have more sufficient dissonance from car before I beak.. this is my experience. I often wonder if mine is normal or its just me!
Hey Chris, not that I noticed, plus I haven't driven MG3 enough to compare the two, but suspect the difference is purely in the weight of the car. MG3 prob weighs nothing compared to H6?
Hey mate, great video. 2 things: 1 - Is that Tyrael from Diablo in your left arm? 2- I'm thinking on the Haval H6 but then i saw the new Mahindra XUV 700, very appealing price. Do you have any opinions about the Mahindra?
Hey mate, 1 - it's Inarius, Diablo 4 😉 2 - my opinion on Mahindra is that there is not enough urban network of dealerships and service centres to buy it in Australia, unless you're somewhere in rural regions. So I wouldn't consider it.
It's funny as most things are either made in or owned by China. But bogans and a whole bunch of other people still believe they are getting purely "white" goods for their snobbish needs.
Thanks for your videos they have been very helpful. However can you please tell me how you show on the screen all the cars that are around you while driving. I had it on when I first got the car but my son changed a few things for me and now I can find it for the life of me and the manual isn't that easy to read. Thank you.
The lane keep assist is annoying. You can get around it by just driving in cruise control with auto steering on. That way no speeding fines, auto slow down to avoid front collison and no bonging. Maybe time to update your 90s sunglasses too. It was 30 years ago.
In your experience, which one do you prefer and why: A second-hand 2021 Rav4 LE with approximately 60,000 miles or a brand-new 2023 Haval H6 ? Thank you for your response.
I personally think 60,000 miles is a lot. And the question I'd ask myself is - am I planning to keep this car for a long time? If you're planning to keep it and use it heavily, a brand new solid vehicle like H6 with 7 years warranty is always better than a used one. If you plan to drive for a year and sell it - Rav 4 will sell better (if prices are comparable already at the time of purchase).
my friend this place near the mirror is to put some paper or your license or car card ....I didn't see any real problems in your video...I have Porsche and from the beginning some problems coming out if we compare it with it's price...actually I want to change it recently.
Thanks. I agree. I have a Hybrid. Automatic reversing I think is also pointless if you are in a confined space like a garage. This is when you would need it but it doesn’t work then. Also the automatic parking takes forever and goes up curbs. Can’t be trusted. Finally, I wish the radio would show the songs like you expect on a new car but it doesn’t show you anything
Great additions, thank you - reversing is not something I've tried (and maybe don't have it in Lux?) but you're totally right, it sounds like a pointless gimmick.
Dimitri, This made me laugh. These are the exact same things which I dislike about my Haval. My sunglasses fir in the holder, but they fall out as soon as I open it - I call it the 'automatic sunglasses dispenser'.
Point #4: this is very likely a Chinese domestic market carry over feature. In China, most highways are toll roads and many are still using physical smart card based toll and toll gate solutions. You pick up a card at the highway entrance and return them at the exit. The clips are for temporarily holding those plastic cards.
Mazda added a button on the steering wheel of the BT50 to turn off lane keeping, soon after receiving complaints. I use it on the freeway but turn it off on the potholed B road that I travel often.
Good on Mazda! I wish more car manufacturers listened to what the drivers actually complain about and ask for. OMG it would have made GWM near-perfect if they were more responsive to complaints and their electronics was generally better.
Hi Dimitri enjoy your videos, don't agree with some but overall quite helpful. That "thing" on the sun visors to to hold a credit, store or similar card, a bit of useless trivia for you!! Keep up the good work.
9:03 A hack i learnt for usb cable, you can remove the plastic part for the wireless charger pad, there's a hole under it where you can pass the cable and then pass it in the notch in the plastic pad. This was you'll have the cable ready above your wireless charging pad.
I would like to ask what the car driver does if it does not recognize the key and he couldn't start the car from the push button. Is there an immediate solution?
I believe the clip beside the mirror works as a card holder and the USB port is on the other side because chinese did not bother to switch the ports of LHD to RHD
It 100 % breaks on the corners when in cruise control, it is dangerous, not mentioned when you buy it and doesn't matter if a small corner or a big corner as soon as you start to turn the steering wheel more than slightly it breaks when in cruise control *** CAUTION
Yep it's horribly annoying. What's even worse is that it sounds like they haven't fixed it in the later models, as all it would have taken is a software patch. Ah well.
what about GAS consumption; is it truly so high, and also the geer, does it have problem as Chinese not good quality preception, those are very important to know please
@@ValueCarsAU ok Thanks alot; is there is any problems could apear for gear or motor after some years? and secondly the body; the tiggo 7 pro has rust with two people I know, would haval body h6 2024 would not have such problem with me with time for its body? is it good quality body or less quality? those two points I appreciate it to know. Thanks alot
The lane keep assist thing is really unnecessary, owners should be able to use a car the way they want to, it would make me sell the vehicle eventually.
Hey.. I find the phone cable placement a great spot. The spot where you placed on your phone. It can be removed. It has a groove to slide the cable through. Now it looks tidy. Mine so clean it looks good mabe you can give it a try?
Not sure what you mean. Yes to place a cable it's okay but I want my phone within reach - not to touch it, but to see the screen as I drive. Just a habit. Which is why I probably find it a bit weird.
@@ValueCarsAU ooh I mean the rubber pad it sits on comes out.. and has the groove for the cable.. but I get what u mean.. if u do that cable isn't long to pick phone up---
Regarding the charging ports, I think it is a fault by the manufacturer. I personally own a Haval H6 3rd Gen in a left-side-steering-wheel market, and the ports position is exactly the same: left side -- in my case, the driver's side -- is the data transfer and chargin port; and in the right side -- the passenger's side in my case -- is the charging-only port and the 12V outlet. They should've mirrored those ports for the right-side-steering-wheel markets.
I think it's because of the right-hand-side steering wheel placement in Australia, so they moved the steering wheel, but kept everything else the same in the overall structure of the car
@@ValueCarsAU actually that's a common criticism for both Haval H6 and Haval Jolion, that everything seems to be designed for left-hand-side steering wheel. If you can tell, even the Infotainment touch screen is a little bit oriented to the left side, making it difficult to handle from the right side. Of course, in my country that's not even taken into account, because we drive cars with the steering wheel in the left side. Anyway, it is still a wonderfull car, very comfortable for long trips, and I definitely love driving it.
I had a 2019 VW golf and had very similar problems with the Apple Carplay which would at random times not connect, even if I stopped the car, turned it off and restarted it. It would only start working again after the car had been off for an extended period of time so the problem you are seeing may not be the H6s fault.
@@ValueCarsAU that's a problem with all Cars and the reason why, surprisingly, is either your cable or your phone. There's 3 types of USB cables, Data transfer, Charging, data transfer and charging. Also, the slightest of dirt in your phones USB port will cause it to not connect properly to the car. It happens in all cars
The intrusive driver assist system that prevents lane departure and does random braking sound scary. Atleast in my MG I can turn both of them off. All these Chinese cars be it Haval or MG, they seem to somehow have incomplete software installed. It like the people in these companies did not do any debugging before installing the software in their cars. The Koreans like Hyundai do a much better job. Also they don't have too many useless and gimmicky stuff.
I agree that Korean software is more polished and useful than a lot of stuff we see across Chinese brands. Problem is - about $20k difference between comparable models of China-made cars vs. Koreans which is too massive to ignore. And yeah it's annoying that even MG allows to turn off a lot of this stuff permanently, while Haval doesn't.
Hey Dimitri top video exposing some of the annoying things you found on the car.I found the 1st 5 points that annoyed you didn’t apply to the MG zst it seems .It would be great to see your input on some annoying things you find on that car the MG zst also to compare both cars you own .Interesting content as always .

I love you man keep up the good work as you always do please
I didn't know what the clippy thing was for either. Seems a bit silly. Thanks for bring it up... Suppose you won't be mentioning it in your future videos. lol
The handle on the mirror side is to clip your parking ticket. It also exists on a lot of other cars, like Renault models for example. :-)
Or your licence card, or any cash
Yep a few people already told me, thank you - I had no idea and found it very weirdly designed (so did my wife!)
I agree - with any (and all) of these stupid points I still think it's the best value for money at the moment in AU.
At that end of the market with all the toys, you find stupid things that give you the SHlTS,
so look the the price, it's the best for that. The Haval is the 2nd car, picking up my new GWM ute in 2 weeks.
Thank you. I'm an H6 owner also. I think it's a great car that could be improved with the following:
- Power delivery profile of gears 1 - 3 can be improved.
My car doesn't have Android Auto or screen mirroring, so GPS navigation is an issue.@@ValueCarsAU
Completely agree about the Infotainment mate - it has this nice and beautiful screen, but other than 360 camera, it's useless.
totally agree with most of the comments .... but i'd like to add few more issues that mostly you will face them later .... 1- fuel pump ( could not last more than 1 year if you use your car with low fuel " looks like it can not handle the heat not sure" ) and even if you change it it will keep brake down and the only solution that we fund in our area is to replace it with korean or japanes one ...
2- transmission it can not stand the heat too and after 150k it needs to be replace ( still looking for a solution ) but any how looks like it can not last for longer time
3- some of plastic parts can not stand the sun too ( for hot area ) and its only a matter of time until you see some of them start to pumped and cracked
Good additions, thanks!
Very sincere comments, as a Chinese I do hope GWM and all other Chinese car makers can take such comments seriously so that they can go further and become competitive car makers in the world
Thank you for commenting and I really hope GWM does too! 😉👍
Don't find lane keep an issue at all. It's actually great once you know some tricks, makes a long drive more cruisy and safe. For an owner of 9 months I'm not sure how you can not know your car well by now, most complaints seem more owner based silliness than the car. I'd buy again for sure
Wow, you think my complaints are from "siliness"? Nothing else to say to you, keep clicking on the videos mate
Lol kids pic or a saint! Love it mate thank you.
Thanks
With the seat, it's more to do with no tilt or adjustment which alters the support at the front of the seat base.
Great video, BTW... ooh, and you're not going crazy with the usb port not working properly. I used a jolion rental. And had some problem in that car. Really made my trip hard!.
Good to know mate, I thought it's yet another "just you, Dmitri" problem 🙄🤷♂️
Yep the corner braking is one of those old symptoms similar to my ELK pulling into lane that they somehow have not fixed.
Btw the small hook near the vanity mirror is to keep cards, like the ones use very often
Yep
you can use those visor clips to hold cards of any kind for easy access
Yeah I figured, but unless you've used/seen one of those before, it's really looking like a poorly designed handle
When adaptive cruise control is on, my h6 brakes around bends especially during nights. It does so at all times. I even reported it to the dealership
Good on you. More of us report it - maybe they'll do something about it
Hi,Dimitri, that clip can be use for holding your parking ticket or other thing like photo, even keep your received when buy you something...
Oh I see, makes (some) sense, but it still looks like a little handle to open the mirror, that's what my wife tried to do with it
😂😂 when I heard that stupid criticism I was convinced that this is his first car
Ha don't have this car but when I first saw it I was instantly like damn wish my car had that the amount of times I miss place my fuel card
Bro, when I checked the car I didn’t even see the usb portals until now😂
hahaha, glad I could help pointing those out to you! 🤣
Ah many of these are personal preference.
Intelligent Driving - Yes agree on that. Frustrating that it doesn't save, but probably a safety feature that it turns on all the emergency features
Thin Steering Wheel - disagree, personal preference. I love the thin wheel
Haval Gear Shifter - disagree. Have I accidently turned on Manual? Yes a few times, but I very quickly realise and switch
Sunshade Mirrors - like mentioned in other comments, that's a purposeful clip
USB Port placement - like mentioned in other comments, that's from switching driver position
USB Connectivity - yes I've experienced this a few times. Not enough to be irritating
Carpet Mats - disagree, personal preference.
Front Seat Cushion - can't comment here, I'm average height
Sunglasses Holder - all of my and my husband's sunglasses fit in this. Understand it could be frustrating.
Instruments and Themes - I enjoy the themes. Would love there to be more.
Of course all of this is personal preference
Point #4 is for insurance card , registration cards .. or some form of card drivers license maybe
Yes it is - comment #345 on the same topic! 🤣
Hi
Thanks for the review.
The USB cutting out, better see the dealer, did a run from Syd to Mel, USB never cut out
Seat size, I'm 6'4" (193cm) I didn't even know the seat was shorter till I went to fit a seat cover last summer (I like shorts in summer and hate seats the BURN YOU TO DEATH) for my hot car seats.
Very good insight about the charging pad thing and the cable to put through, thank you, I didn't know!
They need to change that rotary gear to buttons…. I’m certain the rotary cover is going to cover & fall off in a couple of years.
I have owners who had these cars for over 2 years and it's all good. I don't mind rotary gear, in fact I miss it in my new Subaru.
USB charging port and connectivity is a valid point . I agree
These days I'd always go for a wireless connection (of any kind) over those unreliable wires...
The sunshade mirors at 7:12 it's made for handling little documents like car registration driving license etc I have same thing in my ford explorer 2023
Yep, about 200 others told me the same 😉👌
The stupid mirror thing is actually a clip you can clip documents and paperwork to it. Cheers
Thank you. Same advice 200+ other people gave me and I appreciate it every time
We need more car reviewer like Dimitri, who keeps it real and help automaker improve and not fake sponsored reviewer. Love your work mate
Thank you, glad you liked my approach.
@@ValueCarsAU yes it does I have had it happen a few times
With what you know now and experienced with both MGHS & Haval H6, which one would you choose?
Good question, I hope Dimitri can give us an answer, Thank you
100% Haval H6, honestly.
(Couldnt ask to look for more, the person wasnt telling me all the issues.. cause he wanted to sell his car)
I need an opinion from someone whose been riding this car for a while to give me their genuine opinion please 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'd be keen to hear from someone who is a proven private owner and who didn't park the car in acid for 2 years, as what you're describing sounds extremely unusual and irregular. I know I have viewers from far QLD who have Jolion in ownership, maybe they'll catch up to your comment and reply.
@@ValueCarsAU Glad to hear from them 😊
I don't agree with the clip Part, it's very useful for parking lot tickets. That's why it is there. The other I agree and thank you for pointing it. And one contribution: memory for the driver seat. It would be great, even if it was only available at the system, like in the BYD Seal. But I agree the car is very good!
I think it can be useful, sure, I just never used one before
Hi Dimitri, the USB port issue is due to the car conversion to Australia and they did not that with the USB, it’s annoying but you do get used to it. Also the gear shifter is very annoying, but again you do get used to it. All the best.
Yeah you get used to a lot of stuff, and I did too, but I didn't understand the port issue - do you mean the placement of the ports?
The car is originally LHD and is converted to RHD for the Australian market,so that’s why the usb port for you is at the “wrong side”
Can you unclick the ports and swap the cables around?
the gear shifter is the reason i didn't buy the car. just dumb design
@@cooljool1I got used to the dial selector quickly and it's not a problem to me.
It’s a car park ticket holder mate. I think it is on the wrong side because in China they drive at the left hand side.
Here is why:
I agree, it's value for money if you discard very heavy depreciation early into ownership and the annoyances I've talked about in this video.
Oh that's interesting mate, thanks for sharing
Number 4 is for parking tickets or car registration cards, stuff like that. I used a lot in my Jeep.
5. I know why the USB is in the passenger side. Because originally that is the driver’s seat and you drive in the wrong (joking) side. They missed to switch that connection when they made the right side driving versions. It happens also with the turn signals in the Mahindra Pikup when they made the left hand driving version
Both points noted and were mentioned to me several times, but thank you anyway!
Agreed. I dislike the stupid rotary gear shift.
Finally someone commenting on something OTHER THAN the stupid parking ticket clip... 🤦♂️😎👍
Min. 6:49 That thing is a business card, registration or note holder.
Yep thanks, 100th person telling me that 😎👌
Lol
4 - that is really handy item for cards and other items😲
5 - USB port lift the rubber mat up and look at the Nice hole that can be fed nicely too route the cable up😮
I still think both design elements are stupid and you're just apologising for them for nothing.
Dimitri you have another chinese car . Are you building up a chinese stable.
What a weird way to look at it
@@ValueCarsAU Demitri Doo you like the newly revamped hs in the trophy form it may be titled something else in Oz but basically its their top of range ?
If you lift the phone charging tray (rubber), you will see a small gap where you can pass the cable from below to the top tray. You're welcome.
😎
@@ValueCarsAU I am trying to find the radiator drain plug to change my coolant after 3 years. Too much plastic can't find it.
Oh mate, these 10 scratches the surface;
Interior high gloss black finish pain to keep clean black carbon fibre look would be much better.
Wait until you see my review of H6GT coming up in a week or so
@@ValueCarsAU
i thought about the gt but loose boot space
You missed a big one: no bag hooks or tether points in the boot
Hmmmm good point! I was only talking about what bothers me though, or prominent feedback such as short seats, and I've never needed to fit anything in the boot.
Point four is for business cards or license. Things like that.
I wish I counted how many people told me that, but thank you anyway
Sorry about that. I’m about to buy a h6 hybrid tomorrow. Your video was helpful. Thank you. I’m hoping the 23 model fixed the map drop out issue. Do you know if they have?
7:09 the plastic clip in the sunshade mirror is a card holder where you can put your car license or toll tickets
Yep thanks, I was told like 100 times since posting this video
@@ValueCarsAU will point it one more time :) just to anny you. You call it stupid - you have to take the consequences:)
What about not being able to change your favourite radio stations via steering wheel. You have to press the Info screen which is distracting while driving.
Interesting. I don't use radio so don't have a need to do that, but good to know, thanks for posting
Hi, you can try to make the regeneration less aggressive (or turn it off completely - not recommended) if the breaking quirk is bothering you.
I’m with you 100% about carpet pats completely useless
Yep they are
Hey mate, great video.
2 things:
1 - Is that Tyrael from Diablo in your left arm?
2- I'm thinking on the Haval H6 but then i saw the new Mahindra XUV 700, very appealing price. Do you have any opinions about the Mahindra?
Hey mate,
1 - it's Inarius, Diablo 4 😉
2 - my opinion on Mahindra is that there is not enough urban network of dealerships and service centres to buy it in Australia, unless you're somewhere in rural regions. So I wouldn't consider it.
I don't think they'll ever allow Chinese cars to enter the North American market, maybe Tesla, which is made in China.
It's funny as most things are either made in or owned by China. But bogans and a whole bunch of other people still believe they are getting purely "white" goods for their snobbish needs.
Handle next to mirror is for petrol card.
Yep it is, 300+ comment telling me this
Solution for seat problem is Adjustable seat cushion like how bmw does it
There are solutions to most problems, no one is arguing that. Sometimes it's just nice to have things RIGHT out of the box.
have had my haval for 3 days, and i share 70% of your pet peeves about the car. Thank you
Glad to hear you agree mate! It's still a great car overall
Thanks for your videos they have been very helpful. However can you please tell me how you show on the screen all the cars that are around you while driving. I had it on when I first got the car but my son changed a few things for me and now I can find it for the life of me and the manual isn't that easy to read. Thank you.
I'm not quite sure I understand the question. What cars on screen around me while driving?
7:08
It's a clip for money ( Money holder ).
In many asia countries, it is normal to
have some cash for the police officer,
for special service. 😉🤑✌️
Haha thank you for the incite, especially about the police cash 🤣
That thing next to the visa mirror is for a credit card, fuel card or drivers license. Its actually very hand. Mistry solved. :)
Thanks, yes, I've been told... By like... 200 people haha
The lane keep assist is annoying. You can get around it by just driving in cruise control with auto steering on. That way no speeding fines, auto slow down to avoid front collison and no bonging. Maybe time to update your 90s sunglasses too. It was 30 years ago.
haaaahha don't you dare criticize my RayBans mate 🤣
I appreciate your prompt response and thank you very much for your valuable answer.
my friend this place near the mirror is to put some paper or your license or car card ....I didn't see any real problems in your video...I have Porsche and from the beginning some problems coming out if we compare it with it's price...actually I want to change it recently.
Yep
Thanks.
Good one Stephanie, love it 😅
Point #4: this is very likely a Chinese domestic market carry over feature. In China, most highways are toll roads and many are still using physical smart card based toll and toll gate solutions. You pick up a card at the highway entrance and return them at the exit. The clips are for temporarily holding those plastic cards.
Thank you - was told this was a card clip many times but had no idea about Chinese traditional carryover.
I want to add a note about gear shifter.... horrible mistake if you accidentally spill coke. How do you clean the P park button??
Never crossed my mind as I a) don't drink Coke and highly recommend that you stop too! and b) never spilled anything on it! 🤣
Hey Charles, thank you for commenting and appreciate your support mate. We don't have to agree on everything!
9:03 A hack i learnt for usb cable, you can remove the plastic part for the wireless charger pad, there's a hole under it where you can pass the cable and then pass it in the notch in the plastic pad. This was you'll have the cable ready above your wireless charging pad.
Or you can just get an inexpensive wireless adapter and your troubles are gone. 🤷♀️😉
I would like to ask what the car driver does if it does not recognize the key and he couldn't start the car from the push button. Is there an immediate solution?
Check out my channel for this exact topic, I've made a video mate.
I believe the clip beside the mirror works as a card holder and the USB port is on the other side because chinese did not bother to switch the ports of LHD to RHD
Yep true on both accounts
having a mirror on the front passenger visor okay, but I think a mirror on the driver visor why.. ok it has a flip cover but the cover could break…
Lots of questionable user experience elements in many China-made vehicles (and this one is among the best!)
Ah well.
@@ValueCarsAU I tested a 24 yesterday and found this is a fairly mild issue. If you turn off intelligent cornering it makes it much better
No F🤬king volume knob, or volume control for passenger does my head in.
Lol, I didn't even think about that
what about GAS consumption; is it truly so high, and also the geer, does it have problem as Chinese not good quality preception, those are very important to know please
It's not higher than what you'd reasonably expect from a car of this size and 2.0 litre engine size.
Thanks alot
Thin steering wheel not a problem for my wife as my man hood not thick either, gear selector yes could be pain but used to it..............
Hahaha the manhood reference mate... cracked me up
The lane keep assist thing is really unnecessary, owners should be able to use a car the way they want to, it would make me sell the vehicle eventually.
That's what happened to me. My new Subaru also has it, but it's a lot more helpful and less invasive.
@@ValueCarsAU why did you sell?
@@ValueCarsAU ooh I mean the rubber pad it sits on comes out.. and has the groove for the cable.. but I get what u mean.. if u do that cable isn't long to pick phone up---
No 4: the clip is for keeping your insurance and registration papers
Yep, I was told many times, now I know! :)
Those clips on the sunshade mirrors are for holding the registration of the car and your driver license or any card you want to put there
Thank you, many people told me
I had a 2019 VW golf and had very similar problems with the Apple Carplay which would at random times not connect, even if I stopped the car, turned it off and restarted it. It would only start working again after the car had been off for an extended period of time so the problem you are seeing may not be the H6s fault.
Who knows - maybe it's not on H6, you're right...
Hi Dimitri, just wondering are you still owning ldv d90? Any chance you would do a “bit long-term review”? Many thanks!🎉
Hello mate, unfortunately I sold it when I bought my H6, so can't do a long-term review, sadly
The clip next to the mirror is for documents. Your license, insurance papers etc. you slide them under it
Yep, thanks, about a 100 people already told me about it 🤣
You can put your business cards on the that thing next to the mirror
Yep, many people told me already, thanks
Hi Dimitri, point number 4. It's a ticket holder.
Yeah thanks mate, I was told... It's a confusing design for someone who never used it before - both my wife and I tried to pull on that thing
I'm pretty sure there's more stupid things. Like that centre console shelf thing😮😂
Why don't you make a video about it, if you can come up with more stupid things? 🤷♀️
The switched around signal handle and windshield wiper handle really annoys me too!
Totally. You get used to it but it does feel like an afterthought
I love the steering wheel, my hands are tiny. It suits me perfectly 😂
Haha valid reason!
How is the DCT transmission? Hope they go back to regular torque converter
Surprisingly not bad, I have to say. I hate DCT, but comparing it to MG HS DCT - this is so so much better.
@@ValueCarsAU tossing up between h6 or used toyota kluger 2016 low kms? Any comments on this?
I believe the clip on vision mirror is clip the parking entry pass.
Yep, everyone seems to know about it but not me! 🤣🤷♂️
Yep I am planning to do the same for ZST but frankly comparison of Chery Omoda 5 to ZST is more of a pressing topic I think
