Nice Trip Report! It’s great being able to travel on a proper wide body on a short haul route. I remember I flew on an Aer Lingus A330-300 DUB-SNN about 2005 when they used to stop at SNN to clear USA CBP. They used to sell the domestic sector for just 30€. They also operate the A330 DUB-AGP/FAO every morning during the Summer. ✈️
That would have been pretty cool (and short!). I liked the seat, it’s a shame the service wasn’t really there but times we live in I guess. Overall, I’m glad I did it for the experience.
Another great review! My favourite airline Aer Lingus used to use it all the time between London and Dublin to visit my sister and family. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Simon. Yeh not too bad mate, should be in Seattle right now but just not well enough to go in the end. There’s always another adventure round the corner though 😊
Hi CatB, yep I think the lounge at Dublin is open again now, not sure what the in-flight service is like. I would hope it’s improved because you could fly from LHR to DUB and back with BA in business for a similar price and they’ve had decent food for a while now.
Hi Diarmuid, welcome on board😊thanks for clearing up the HSE question - much appreciated! I’m hopefully heading back out to Dublin soon via Belfast and the Enterprise train (I’m really looking forward to that bit). Cheers for the support, Mark
Another excellent review mark, loved at the start when you said “home of the Inactive travelator” 🤣I’m a planespotter at MAN and walk through the airport all the time and just sometimes want to have the power to start the travelator magically 😂 I don’t know why they’re not switched on as more people are using it now 🤔 Anyway regarding the aer Lingus flight, it seemed like a good flight, though atm business class on any airline isn’t worth it, lounges are sometimes closed and the food offering is scarce, it’s getting better but even so, short haul business class is always a rip off imo, the £145 you paid I personally wouldn’t pay, I’d rather save up and go long haul in business and get the proper product there… at least you had crew on your flight that apologised for the lack of food, unlike your loganair flight from Newquay 🙄
The travelator thing is just cost saving I reckon. I’ve started walking across the car park from the station now - just seems easier. Short haul business - yep depends if there’s a point I agree. I did a lot a couple of years ago (i.e. MAN - LHR - INV and back) just to get the tier points. Once I got to silver with BA I take mainly economy flights now because I still get lounge access. I will maintain silver with a couple of short haul and me long haul next year that’s already booked and that’ll do for me. Aer Lingus was a great experience but I wouldn’t do it again short haul.
Great seat Mark! I'd want to fly in business/first class not even for for the champagne and caviar (which you unfortunately didn't get) but just to have more personal space as I don't like being squashed on a plane. I hope some European carriers reintroduce a proper business class on their European routes, perhaps like the one jetblue uses on their a321s
Hi Adam. Yeh the seat was pretty special tbf! I doubt we’ll see much difference to the usual business class experience in Europe tbh, same old seats with the middle one blocked out. JetBlue does look good but also Icelandair business (saga) might be worth trying - not cheap though!
@@Adam-fj9px wow, fantastic! All the best with that. The saga premium I don’t think it’s totally business class (i.e. the seats don’t fully recline) but it’s an interesting product. I’d certainly like to try it soon 👍
Mate, does the gift shop also serve as a corner shop? If so I can see the case. Mainly for those who would never have have Lounge access. If not...its pure bullocks. Duty Free is a travesty.
Hi Rachel, yeh it’s a good question and yes they may have sold some stuff that enabled them to get round it, tbh I’m not 100% sure. Though I would say, there was a massive queue for the one tiny coffee shop/bar/cafe opposite and that was doing a roaring trade!
€145 for business class is a good price, even for a short trip like that,.... BUT..... you didn't get much in the way of Business Class goodies though so kind of cancels it out for me. Really all you got was a larger, fancier seat with more legroom. Be interested if you sampled Lufthansa in business class from Heathrow to Frankfurt or Berlin to compare. I used to do this to Frankfurt quite a bit in the 90s for my job and it was top notch. Be interested to see if it still is?
I haven’t travelled with Lufthansa tbh, I should do a regional flight maybe BHX - FRA would be good so it is on the list, just need to get round to it 😊
The only reason I can think of why you can't use your mobile on the toilet is so you wouldn't spend any more time in there than strictly necessary, so other people don't have to wait endlessly while you're on the toilet playing games on your mobile.
It’s the best (and only) answer I’ve had so far and I like it! No reason to be spending all your time in there playing Angry Birds unless it takes your mind off things I guess 😂

A pleasure mate. I’ll be doing this business class thing ‘properly’ in Spring next year if all goes to plan - BA AMS-LHR-LAX A380 🤞🤞🤞
Superb footage as ever💖💖💖💖🥳🥳🥳🥳🤩🤩🤩🤩💐💐💐☀️☀️☀️☀️

145 euros is nothing compared to KLM. They would have charged at least 600 for that biz seat
