For both the Under The Highwind (high affection score) and Tifa's Dates, you can only get these scenes by PLAYER INFLUENCE & CHANGING CLOUD'S PRIMARY DIALOGUE to the highest scoring. SPOILERS UPDATE 3:
There's infinite timelines and universes all occurring within the Lifestream, past, present, future everything that ever was. So an infinite amount of Aerith, Cloud, and Zack existing in the Lifestream and thus the multiverse across time, across life and death.
I've sort of analyzed the THIRD game's ending, and it's looking to stay a romantic tragedy. Possible Endings (Random Order, Cloud will reunite with Aerith in most of them, but it's for a limited time):
Also major spoilers, the lying between Tifa and Cloud is in EVERY SCENE, and also in IDLE GAMEPLAY. Their lying is from the novel "FF7 Remake Traces Of Two Pasts":
Every single scene they are lying about the broken promise, lying about childhood b^llying & exclusion, lying about Tifa flirting (both subtle and not subtle) with Zack when they were teenagers, and lying about who the SOLDIER was in Nibelheim (it's Zack, Cloud stole his career and accolades in order to win Tifa over). Tifa is also lying she made a broken promise not just with Cloud, but with Emilio, Lester, and Tyler (she made promises with all teenage boys in the village, and SPOILERS all the teenagers promised her the same things, and all 4 males broke their promise, including Cloud). The one who kept Tifa's Childhood Promise, is ZACK (just play Crisis Core Reunion, and it explains everything who the hero was, it was Zack doing all the saving in live gameplay, he's fighting for literal days before his death in Crisis Core Reunion).
In "Traces Of Two Pasts", Tifa had b^llied Cloud through socially excluding him for nearly 20 years (even into adulthood). I have no idea how a romance is going to develop based on lying and deceiving each other. They could throw the whole "The Lifestream fixes everything" or "forgiveness" argument but that's also nearly 20 years of being excluded. There's clearly feelings developing between them, but while playing, nearly every sentence they have contains lies about the past and present. It is worse lying and deception than in the Original (which I played recently). Enough deception to manipulate Cloud to give Sephiroth the Black Materia (just like in OG).
Possible Endings (Aerith has a SLIM Chance she will end up with Cloud, like 25% chance). But Cloud is clearly in love with her, especially doing split screen of all stories together, it's clearly Aerith that is Cloud's true love (it crosses multiple universes). From the way Aerith speaks about it, she knows at some point she and Cloud will be reincarnated again, and fall in love all over again, we just don't know when or where.
Possible endings:
1. Reunite, but Cloud can only be with Aerith in the Lifestream, the afterlife, therefore reuniting with her through his death. Cloud at the end of OG says, "I want to go to the Promised Land, I think I can meet her there." That can be achieved through death and reincarnation in some form, or being in between life and death. - Someone pointed out this is like Noctis and Luna, tbh I hope this is not the ending as that is still a sad ending.
2. Reunite, and potential children. The world is reborn anew. A new timeline is created where most characters survive. There's a really big easter egg in Traces Of Two Pasts on page 240. This is either the saddest easter egg ever, where Aerith becomes a mother, or foreshadowing a good ending. But there's a twist with this easter egg.
3. Two Endings - This one I'm still exploring. I think this would be the WORST idea for Square Enix to do. I found mirrored footage of Cloud copying Zack's romantic gestures and using them on Tifa. It's quite bad and extremely triggering. He basically uses Zack's romantic moves on Tifa in The Sky Wheel. I still can't believe I found this footage. I highly recommend NOT watching my second video if you really like Cloud and Tifa, he is using Tifa as a rebound. He also lies to Aerith insisting nothing is wrong and that he's himself, but he's lying to her too about being an ex-SOLDIER. He's lying to both female leads, but he lies to Tifa the most in Rebirth. :(
4. Something different?
5. 1 unified dimension. "Reborn" The story will end either in Sector 5's Church, Loveless Street, or back to a key location (think Midgar or The Northern Crater). The group will all convene at one point Cloud, Aerith, Zack and Tifa will cross timelines through the Lifestream, but we won't know if all parties will be able to stay together. Aerith's Song, "No Promises to Keep" guarantees a reunion is inevitable. There's extra lyrics in the CREDITS hinting that if we get the "Good Ending" with comatose Aerith and comatose Cloud, she will be able to be reborn onto the surface, "the living world". - We are hoping for this good ending. :)
6. The "Bad Ending Again" will be Advent Children 2.0, but happier and with less trauma and death, maybe Geostigma doesn't exist, and the planet no longer brings human extinction. Again, Advent Children was the "Bad Ending", Geostigma is shown killing thousands in Edge, and in On The Way To A Smile, the characters disbanded after Aerith's death in the novel, literally right after they gave her a funeral, everyone split up. Cloud, is TRIGGER WARNING actually SI in On The Way To A Smile. The other characters notice he's depressed and wants to end his l^fe, Tifa tells Cloud in AC, he's going to just "Give up and die, is that it?" Geostigma, and Meteor obliterating plant life, led to human extinction 500 years into the future. Kitase confirmed AC was the "bad ending" where humans became extinct in his interview with "Electronic Gaming Monthly, Issue # 196." - Nobody wants another AC 2.0 with that much death and trauma again.
*Meteor or the world ending is likely to happen again, maybe differently than before.
Tiffa kiss in a gondola its not a canon. I thinking that it is only a romance option like Yuffie etc.
Don’t want to sound rude, but pls hurry I want to see part two of your amazing analysis. Now more than ever when I’m done with Rebirth and want to see what you think.
I don’t think the kiss is canon as it happens after Cloud thinks Aerith still loves Zack and is sad about that. I love Tifa, but that scene was just sad and offending to watch as a woman.
The kiss with Tifa for me is pure fan service...it goes completely against the story the game is telling@@001Sweety
You need to make a video so we know how you came to all these conclusions.... confess that I think all this is too good to be true ( I admit that the chances, after finishing Rebirth, of seeing Cloud and Aerith somehow happy and together for me are almost nil )... but I hope you're right.
@@001Sweetythe kiss isn't canon because you need to be an ass hat to Aerith and dote on Tifa like a child the whole game plus it's optional. Aerith's date is the one in the credits plus, it would be weird for Cloud to kiss Tifa straight after Aerith belts out a love song for Cloud, to Cloud in front of a packed theatre and Tifa 🤣

Honestly i kinda hate when people saying, that Aerith belongs to Zack, that Cloud for Tifa and so on...Cloud and Aerith are soulmates and starcrossed lovers
Aerith and Cloud are soulmate. they belong in each other. And Zack and Tifa are the ppl on their life that gave so much significant for where are they now. Zack Already accept Cloud and Aerith love for each other(Rebirth).
Although I don't like the implication of the verb "belong to" when it comes to personal relationships, I understand that it's just an expression, it's like saying "MY boyfriend/girlfriend", so I don't take it so literally. It's just the way the language is structured and I know it shouldn't be taken so seriously.
I wouldn't have a problem with CloudxTifa (needs to be less toxic) and ZackxAerith if it didn't contradict the story of FFVII and the whole compilation. That's why it seems like they betrayed the game, the characters, and the story itself in favor of even more money with that "kissing scene" even though it's optional.
Even a blind man can see that Aerith is the girl Cloud loves the most. Tifa is just a Cloud's childhood crush turned into his friend. A very good friend, but still just a friend. Cloud and Tifa don't even have that much romantic tension between them and that little tension they do have feels a bit forced. Tifa and Cloud pairing lacks the chemistry wheres Aerith's and Cloud's chemistry is off the charts.
Only the most hardcore Tifa fans can't see this.
Tifa and Cloud = good friends that have shared childhood trauma, but they never really move past their trauma and that's a big part of their 'bond'. There is some physical attraction between them.
Aerith and Cloud = star crossed lovers. They fall for each other only to realize it too late. They share a deeper spiritual connection.

Cloud and Aerith always felt like soulmates who met each other and gave each other this sense of newfound happiness, understanding, and belonging despite their pasts. It’s like when you’re going through emptying tough times in life and suddenly this amazing new and unexpected person turns up in your life and makes you feel whole again. It’s truly the best. :)
No wonder japanese cleriths are so prevalent, Everything in their native language and nuances they immediately understand because there is no filter or language barrier, they understand as such that Aerith is the heroine and the insinuation that she is cloud's lover. Whereas in the west everyone likes Tifa because she fits the beauty implication, but also because the translation for Aerith and Cloud's interactions are subtle.

Yep, as an Asian person, it's difficult to describe the social cues or cultural cues to Western fans being missed. The flower analogy, close ups of a woman's face, or her eyes. They do this with Tifa too, but far less. They have different art choices for both female leads, and there's more of it with Aerith overall.
Thats because most americans only read or view content that in america about the game, they dont look for outside sources . Which why they mostly say he friendzone aerith and truly loved tifa..

@@DarthPingu07lollll I think in the West, you have 2 groups the one who likes fanservice for Tifa and rule 34, and the one who likes true love. I'm in the love camp, so camp Aerith. Tifa can be cool too, but tbh Aerith is a more refreshing new take on female characters 🥹🥹🥹
Even the whole promises theme speaks huge volumes about both couples. Cloud and Tifa is based upon a relationship formed around a childhood promise. That promise involved Cloud evolving to become Tifas idea of a romantic partner-someone strong and famous who could save her when she was in a bind.
Now that No Promises to Keep is out it almost immediately contradicts everything Cloud and Tifa is about-Cloud and Aerith dont need to promise anything to each other because they know they will find their way back to one another regardless of the circumstances-even death
I was watching a blind playthrough (Kastaclysm) and she was saying something like Aerith has a thing for members of SOLDIER or the hero types and that Tifa and Cloud were the main leads/couple while Aerith was just an option, I was like what you're talking about. Needless to say, there are many people who spread that wisdom among their followers, she is not the only one.
That promise involved Cloud evolving into Zack. Tifa's idea of a romantic partner is called Zack Fair.
The amount of detail this video goes into is testament to how nuanced and multi-layered cloud and aerith's relationship has always been. Even from the early development stage of OG FFVII, they have been the two most important characters and in nearly every iteration since then, the story has revolved around them. It is clear that the devs have paid a lot of attention to developing the dynamic between cloud and aerith and making it really unique compared to the other relationships, which is why they always have great chemistry. Just through looking at all the clips of their interactions, you can see how much they mean to each other and i fully expect rebirth to bring a lot more of these moments to the table
Can't wait for part two of this analysis because one of the reasons that this ship is so special is that there's so many levels to it one can explore
Perfect way to sum up tifa and Aerith for cloud … if cloud dropped Aerith home he would wait till she got in the house … if it was tifa he would drive off before she got into the house
It's funny, because that actually happens in game. Cloud goes straight to his apartment at Stargazer Heights, and goes to sleep after nagging Tifa for his money. Yet...he waits for Aerith to get her baskets and picks flowers for free lol.
I never liked the way Cloud treats Tifa because she clearly has a crush on him, and what makes it worse is that the people who supposedly love Tifa's character approve of this. Tifa really needs to move on with her life.
@jgamesv1375 Same, I think it's bc they don't know it's toxic to be yelling at each other like Cloud n Tifa are the whole game. I think they're only watching the Sky Wheel scene. But the whole campaign they r arguing or lying about Zack Fair, and SOLDIER.
I think from the intro chapter Tifa probably liked Zack romantically...which is why she is lying to both Cloud and Aerith about how well she knows Zack 👀 she would have to admit to flirting with Zack in Nibelheim 😅
@@josh12098 Tifa acts like a "submissive girl" when it comes to Cloud despite being a strong woman. Some people watch the scenes in Rebirth and think that the fact that Tifa forgives Cloud over and over again and almost forgets everything Cloud did to her is a good thing. In fact, I would really respect Tifa to the point of starting to be one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters if she started caring more about herself and wasn't a character who's just there to act like someone's girlfriend even when she's not.
As much as I love Zack, I have to admit that it's true that Zack always put SOLDIER/Shinra/his friends before Aerith. There's nothing wrong with that, everyone has his priorities, but unfortunately the company he worked for was the one that stalked Aerith and didn't allow her to live her life. Plus, I think Tifa and Zack would make a great couple. If I'm honest, I think I'd like Zack and Tifa's relationship more than Cloud and Aerith's 😊
I always thought the reason for Tifa supposedly liking cloud was silly "her mum said he had a beautiful face" (Traces of Two Past).
In the Original, Cloud rejects his Mother's idea of him having a girlfriend by saying he's not interested but in the Remake he doesn't say this line anymore *wink* *wink*.

I LOVE THIS OH MY GOD. When I was first introduced to FF7 remake (i didn't know anything about the og) I thought "oh Tifa and Cloud are totes gonna get together" and then BAM AERITH APPEARS. My whole perception completely CHANGED, after the whole sequence in sector 5 with Cloud and Aerith. It was all about HER. First they bond, they fall in love, Aerith gets kidnapped, Cloud makes his whole mission dedicated to RESCUING HER and then the world goes to shit cuz hot long white haired man wants to become god. I'm still appalled that some people are in total denial about Cloud being in love with Aerith and their excuse is "Tifa is Cloud's childhood friend" THEY WERE PRACTICALLY STRANGERS FYM. Yes, players can pick and chose who they want Cloud to be with whether it being Tifa or Aerith but the developers are so obviously PUSHING Aerith and Cloud together. This video analysis is so well done and it's clear how much work was put into it. I can't wait for part 2 because there is so much more to talk about with their love story.
I agree. It has always been players choice, but the game has definitely hinted as to whom Cloud is really destined for.

Now that Rebirth has been released, it would be awesome if you add to this video how Cloud is the one who cuts the physical distance to get closer to Aerith. She started to be close to him (to a distance that Cloud doesn’t mind) and touched him every opportunity she gets (sign that she really likes him), to be Cloud the one who touches her by hugging her, protecting her with his own body, and touching her face.
Plus, Cloud smiles many many times only with Aerith.

1. For the Final Fantasy 30 year anniversary legacy trailer, the ff8, ff9, and ffx portions ALL showcase the protagonist and their canon love interests. We’ve got Squall and Rinoa, Zidane and Garnet, and Yuna and Tidus.
For the ff7 portion, it showcases Cloud and Aerith. *Wink Wink*
2. Cloud and Aerith have many official artworks made by Yoshitaka Amano, where they are drawn together. She’s the only heroine who’s drawn with Cloud :)
3. Nomura requested for Aeriths leather jalcket to resemble a bikers jacket, and Cloud drives a motorcycle! Oooo!
4. Cloud and Aerith have compatible mbtis. (Personality traits) Although we don’t know exactly what their true MBTIS are, it’s said that Cloud is an INFP, and Aerith is an ENFJ. If you do a quick little google search, you’ll see that these signs are very much compatible.
5. Cloud and Aerith also have opposite Zodiac signs. Aquarius and Leo. If you look at a chart, they’re on exact opposite sides, exactly 180° from each other. (I saw this and thought this was cool.)

8. In the official 1997 trailer, the text “a love that could never be.” is shown during the scene of Cloud putting Aeriths body to rest. They were meant to be lovers, to all those people that insinuate that Cloud never loved her.
9. In the official Square Enix Cafe in Japan, Cloud and Aerith have matching parfaits and drinks! Yummy. Yuffie also has her own special parfait too!
10. Cloud and Aerith were portrayed as being married in Final Fantasy Brigade! They are considered emperor and empress. (so cute!)
11. In Kingdom hearts 2.8, Cloud is shown in the end credits with Aerith, alongside other canon Disney couples. The pair is shown reuniting (I think in Kindgom Hearts 1 too) which has been a recurring theme between them throughout the compilation.
- to add on to this, In kingdom hearts 1, Cloud is searching for someone/something that could be his light. In an interview, Nomura was asked if "the person who Cloud is searching for is Aerith" which he responded, "Well, what do you think? If indeed it was Aeris, then the bit in the ending was the answer. You might say it was made so that you can take it that way."
- Surprise! In the end credits, guess who we see reuniting with Cloud? He basically confirmed that it was Aerith whom Cloud was searching for. His light!

What we got was 2 unskippable canon dates at the beginning and end, a play that mirrored their relationship, a selfie with Aerith, Cissnei admitting she's waiting for Zack (removes a pillar from the Cloti argument right there and ironically adds the argument to Clerith), we get arguably the most damning exchange in the game which was Marlene telling Zack that Aerith had feelings for Cloud WAY back when sector 7 fell, Zack making an oath "hang in there Cloud, I got you" to save Cloud which saves Aerith. We got Aerith admitting to Cloud that she wants to be with him and explicitly saying she knows he's not Zack (another pillar removed from Cloti and added to Clerith) and lastly she tells Cloud straight she likes him but stumbles. She's really saying she loves him in the church but doesn't have enough faith in her future to risk breaking his heart but in Japanese she says "thankyou" romantically or more accurately, one that denotes lovers before she saves his life.
Tifa can have her fanservice kiss from a Cloud that in reality wouldn't have the balls to do it regardless of how he felt.
Part 3 will be the major fireworks between Cloud and Aerith when Sephiroth merges the timelines.
Thank you !! Good arguments and they even left me a little hopeful...but I admit, I find it all very difficult to happen. I think too many things need to happen for Cloud and Aerith to reunite/have a happy ending. And there is still one thing to complicate things further...Tifa will be very close to Cloud in the 3rd part of the game...in his recovery and the Highwind scene. @@francisco24slb1 it's possible that Aerith fixes Cloud this time around. She claims she's searching for the real him. Who's better than OG Aerith who's in the lifestream to protect Cloud while he's down there and while she's at it, she helps him pick up the pieces of his mind and put together. Thus, she finds the real Cloud. That scene under the highwind will still happen but it won't have any giggity in it.
The way I see it; og timeline = the tragedy
Remakes = their reunion and happily ever after.
I'm all for tragedies but Cloud and Aerith have been through enough and we likely won't get another remake in the future. So let them have their happy ending. Besides, what's the point of defying fate if Aerith dies? Her death leads to the worst ending which is og ending. Humanity dead after 500 years.

I the remake OG Aerith IS in the lifestream already. Which is why she knows her fate. But also opens the door to help Cloud when nobody else can, which she does in rebirth.

#clerith has been the OG canon pairing since the official Yoshitaka Amano artwork. For those that played the OG in 1997, we have always known Zack is a minor character that has become a retcon. SE finally understands that we want to see the Bodyguard with his Flower Girl. A new destiny awaits us in the Remake. Unfortunately, the compilation has been weaponized by Tifa nerd boys who have hated Aerith since 1997. I remember Tifa fans saying Aerith's hair was ugly & that Tifa was "way hotter." They also hated Aerith's outgoing, spunky personality. Crisis Core was their perfect opportunity to try to erase Clerith from existence. Thankfully, SE knows that Tifa has always been the optional, secondary way to play FFVII. Aerith starts off with more love points than Tifa, Aerith's Gold Saucer date is the CANON "normal" date, and Cloud & Aerith reunite in EVERY FF universe as STAR-CROSSED lovers. Tifa accepts this & agrees to go with Cloud to the Promised Land so he can be with Aerith again. In CoT & AC, Tifa still knows that all of this is true. Cloud believes Aerith brought him Denzel & Cloud has been living in Aerith's Church. Cloud x Aerith is the ultimate OTP of all OTPs * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
CC was pretty atrocious. Particularly to Cloud (retconned as you say) and Aerith (retconned and a completely wet blanket personality change to act as a foil for the golden retreiver on heavy-handed narrational steriods). One of the best parts of Remake was their return to the characters' OG personalities.
Just got to the end of Rebirth. Once more people get there and see the church date we will get more Clerith fans. Specifically the part where Cloud goes “You’ll have to give me a harder one next time”

There’s no ambiguity there. Cloud wants another date and Aerith is happy to hear this, saying she understands where their relationship stands.
You'd think people would understand that was aerith and cloud confessing. Yet I've seen so many people say it was aerith friendzoning cloud or cloud didn't like the date(despite showing multiple times that even though he knew something was a little weird, he wanted the date to go well) and kept calling her weird

The misinterpretation tells less about the splendid writing, which really is so damn good, than about how clouded are those blinded eyes of whom won't aknowledge at brain what heart doesn't allow them yet to feel.
The thing is, if i'm not wrong, this specifics lines of dialog only happens when you have the highest affection with aerith, so not everyone will se it. Besides, hardcore cloti fans still defends that all the afection behaviour from cloud towards aerith comes from zack's memories....

Anyway, giving a certain heritage of Zack upon Cloud that is doubtless and pertains to Cloud's arch entirely, it is about common sense to observe that the seduction, flirting and intimation of the famous couple is something that evolves with the same authenticity any love story shall tell.
I use to learn of the endless, and pretty well made portraits of personality symbolism some have recreate and publish in the web, but I tend to play it all down to certain point where it is clear the amount of non perverted nor disturbed authenticity present in Cloud's character.
For the record, authenticity does not mean neatness, nor anything as near as a blank page, like a very begining of everything. Cloud is a social kid growing up, tending to go far. But, as the best role player perhaps ever being put in place in a game as he is, everyone is thirsty about appropriating his role first, and then to project on it. Is'n it?
After all, who is entirely blanket in the midst of a passion? Which being can be some kind of non-reminiscent person of their culture, their references, their mere and loud inexperience during their first, or even subsequent love stories?
Come on, this story is georgous as relatable as it is, precisely because of its realism ^^ And that is something that may hurts that ones who deny it, or try to.
On that note, I have the intuition - sure nothing from another world - that one main component of Aerith's relationship denial among us, and here does not matter the preferences, is the fact that she was doomed to be torn apart form her physical agency, and that is something so much unbearable in the reign of our current feelings that can only be assimilated as much as it is founded out of fantasy.
Not in vain, her death is the greatest gravity body in this amazing journey.
Maybe there resides its infinite value: that the turmoil always invades passionate affairs and so this story hits right on the core. A very factual one, indeed.
Aerith had very little time with Zack and she was a very different person, young and immature... with Cloud she's more mature, and while she's good with everyone (which makes everyone fall for her), she only acts flirty with Cloud.

Aerith had strong feelings for Zack and how could she not, he's a great guy. I can't think of anything why Aerith wouldn't love Zack, but she had already moved on from Zack. Aerith has been saying since the OG that she's already made up her mind, she's been chosing Cloud over Zack since 1997.

i also played the original ffvii when i was a kid and even then, the essence of this decades spanning story with these two in the center has always been obvious to me. it amazed me when people were so quick to dismiss the connection between cloud and aerith just because aerith didn't survive or because the both of them had crushes in younger years on tifa and zack respectively. it's not like those bonds aren't important but it's as clear as day that cloud and aerith have the deepest emotional connection out of anyone in the cast and are each other's true, long-lasting love who always find a way back to each other. It's also important to remember that just because you as the player are given choice to control cloud, /you/ are not cloud. cloud has always been his own character with his own personal preferences, choices and emotions - and they've always pointed to aerith.

Basically Sephiroth manipulated Cloud because he's lying about his identity being a SOLDIER to be accepted by the group. The world was destroyed 500 yrs in the future. So yes the love triangle was key to the world ending, and Aerith's death too 😢

Obsessed with Clerith, like you, I’ve played OG since the debut- never having a doubt about Cloud and Aerith. They are meant to be together.
However, the whole Cloti thing… sounds more like a blood borne illness and is in a way.
Tifa alienated Cloud since childhood and still does as adults. I believe that shaped him into becoming an introvert.
She is directly to blame for some of the reasons why Cloud is messed-up.
He is secretive in displaying his emotions simply because of constant rejection he receives- not just from Tifa.
Aerith does the opposite.
Cloud is notorious for his brooding personality and tough-guy image. To watch playful Aerith pull his dark cloud away, making him smirk, are the most endearing scenes.
When Cloud says to Aerith, “I’m coming for you” speaks volumes. He always lives up to his promises with her.

When it comes to "clotis" and "cleriths" I've come to realize the people who want Cloud to end up with Tifa sympathize with Tifa and her character more than Cloud himself, but the ones who want Cloud with Aerith sympathize with Cloud more. Both are good choices for Cloud sure, but when it comes down to brass tacks Aerith is just overall more stable and healthy for Cloud given his personality is the way it is-they compliment each other more than Cloud and Tifa do. In all honesty, and i know this sounds cliché, but Tifa would benefit more from someone more outgoing like Zack
Exactly, tifa is more reserved, tensive and shy. Cloud has been excluded since a child and even as an adult he was excluded from the celebration with avalanche. They're very awkward with eachother, just not a good fit overall. While with aerith, she is more engaging and brighter for cloud. They even share the same difficulties as children so they understand eachother. They compliment eachother so well, and it's stated she even melted cloud's frosty exterior and opened his heart But then closed himself off to everyone including tifa after her death

Great video! Some related thoughts: Shinra tower rescue scene: to me it looked like Aerith was moving towards Cloud but Tifa ran to cut her off. They may have made the scene in the cells less flirtatious, but if you listen, they intertwine Cloud and Aerith's theme songs while she's speaking.
In Cloud's resolution scene, he doesn't resolve to save her - he's already done that. This is what Tifa and Barret commit to in theirs. In his, he resolves to pursue her romantically, despite the warning. Each person's resolve "moment" comes when they clench their fist. For Aerith, this is in the Language of Flowers scene (sort of a callback to the Cosmo Canyon bonfire), for him it's when he reaches out to grab her arm.
You raise a good possible explanation for what's going on...that everyone is in the "future" having died and been reincarnated as themselves all over again. Not sure if this clashes with the OG's lifestream explanation though...but then I think all of AC does anyway.

Yeah I did notice too Cloud and Aerith's theme songs are intertwined in a lot of scenes, but this is for a later video; I'm not sure about the Lifestream theory, and the Multiple Timeline theory. Either way I'll be happy they don't rush Rebirth. I'm hoping it's just as fun to play as Remake! :)
@@LUCID_REVERIE with the Lifestream, I'm just thinking back to Bugenhagen's speech and illustration - that when something dies, it sort of "dissolves", joins with the rest of the lifestream, then becomes reborn in something completely different. This doesn't take too long - but in AC (2 YEARS after the OG), Aerith and Zack's consciousnesses are still frolicking around independent of this process.
Also in the rescue scene - it's really funny...the only time Cloud doesn't say EX-Soldier is when Hojo asks him. This is right after he overhears Hojo's plans to "breed" her with members of Solider!
Looking forward to your part 2 and to Rebirth. Will be interesting, after Midgar the flirting/romance does fall back a lot in OG. I imagine it will be similar this time too.

The sad vibes of this song perfectly match the tragedy of Cloud and Aerith's story and the immeasurable pain the two of them suffer because they are not united. Now when I hear this song, all I can think of is AC Cloud's grief for Aerith. It really does just fit perfectly.

As somebody that’s never played the original game. I found it quite obvious that Remake was pushing Cloud and Aerith.
I love Tifa, but it seems apparent to me that the game was pushing Cloud and Aerith in some way. Even if you choose Tifa!

It was really obvious. Even Tifa's resolve scene in chapter 14 started with Tifa suspecting that there was something going on between Cloud and Aerith. Tifa's scene was all about her loss. She lost everything. Her home, her bar, her friends and now she was afraid that she was going to lose Cloud aswell. However If you choose Aerith well her scene was pretty much self explanatory. Cloud was very clearly hopelessly in love with Aerith. When Aerith said that "whatever happens, you can't fall in love with me." Cloud's reaction spoke more than a thousand words. Cloud was already made up his mind. Also in japanese in the end of that scene when Cloud promised to go after her Cloud said "mukae ni iku." This phrace is only used when you are talking to someone you love romantically.
It was stated that Aerith spoke against her own feelings. She clearly loves Cloud too but she knows her future and how much her death is going to hurt Cloud so she only wanted to protect him from that upcoming hurt and sorrow and that's why she told Cloud to not get too emotionally attached to her.

I’ve ran into a lot of “Cloti’s” over the years, and they always seem to ignore all of the innuendos, facial cues, dialogue, and even how Cloud speaks with just a soft caring tone towards Aerith.
I don’t love Cloud and Aerith because I just prefer them…..I love them because of their connection they had in the game.
I don’t think people realize what a powerful crutch having a bias or preconceived notion can have on somebody. These people have had this expectation for literal decades now…
So I don’t expect them to change their opinion, but as someone who went into playing Remake blind, and not expecting anything. I felt like it was extremely obvious that the game shows more romantic tones between Cloud and Aerith.
Actually, if anything, I’d have an expectation towards Cloud and Tifa. Because my best friends favorite game of all time is the original FFVII. I didn’t know anything about the Remake until a week before release, and it was only because he told me. I remember he ALWAYS talked about the awesome romantic relationship Cloud and Tifa had, so as I was playing. I saw a little bit at the beginning of the game, but as soon as Aerith came on the scene. I’m just like….dude….you’re joking right lol
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 Cloud and Tifa had few intense moments in the beginning like Cloud calling Tifa beatiful while looking through his glass and when they jumped from that train they shared an intense moment. However after Cloud met Aerith everything changed. It was stated that when Cloud is with Aerith he tries to act and look cooler than normally.
When Aerith was waiting for Cloud after he tried to sneak away from her home it was stated by the devs that when Aerith said "i am not sick of you yet" and leaned close to Cloud his heart skipped a beat. Cloud "i'm in a hurry" Strife also offered to take Aerith safely back to sector 5 after all that hard work they went through to get to the passageway to sector 7 only because he wanted to spend more time with her. He clearly didn't want to leave her.
Also when Cloud saw Aerith wearing her red dress he was mesmerized and started stuttering. He also saw Tifa wearing her dress and didn't feel anything. When Tifa said that she was going to Corneo's mansion Cloud was like "Ok, bye." But with Aerith he was like "There is no way in hell i'll let you go there all by yourself."
And Cloud "i don't dance." Strife was like screw this shit and he was already leaving the stage but after seeing Aerith Cloud gave the Honey bee inn the most passionate dance show ever. This dance show was clearly meant for Aerith.
And Cloud was so hell-bent on saving Aerith from the Shinra HQ that he was starting to tell Barret how they are going to do this and showed him that he is the leader of this operation. When Rufus Shinra and his troops surrounded them on rooftop Cloud said "Take Aerith and get out of here. I'll buy you guys some time." Aerith was on Cloud's mind 24/7 and her safety was the only thing that mattered to him.
And i am familiar with the og game aswell but it is crystal clear that Cloud and Aerith was the thing this game was pushing.
@@NordicWiseguy Exactly!! Finally somebody else that actually gets it. I’ve had this discussion with Cloti’s so much, and they’re always so confident they’re right coming into argue. But as soon as I go over all of the evidence, like the quotes from the original and remake, quotes from the ultimanias, and quotes from the writers, developers, and even composers of the game. They always go silent…..they just straight up use mental gymnastics and head canon to make arguments.
It’s funny too, because a couple of the hardcore Cloti’s I’d get into it with that wouldn’t message back after I showed them all of the evidence.
Instead of them learning their lesson, or having any sort or rebuttal. They’d just go to another video and spout off the same exact nonsense that I had literally just debunked. So then when I’d make them look stupid again, they’d just delete their comments.

I have to tell you because of this video because of your work now I am completely open and ready to embrace Cloud and Aerith love story for the final fantasy 7 rebirth. Yep, that's what the canon is in Advent Children Complete & On The Way To A Smile. Cloud and Tifa never end up as a couple or romantically, but a "family of friends" and "working together" for the delivery service. *Those are Tifa's words in the novel. :)

I don't know if anyone has touched the subject in this fandom, but I played an interesting game for myself by trying to figure out _why_ Aerith starts to love Cloud and vice versa. And the exact moments we see that happen on screen. Like in that example you mentioned where Cloud apologized for stepping on the flowers. That moment is also precious, because his "cool" facade slips off for a moment.

Since the first time I played FF7OG when I was just a kid I knew Cloud and Aerith were the main couple even as a kid, in Spanish the translation was so bad that a lof of information was lost but you could tell that Cloud and Aerith loved each other.
I'm hopeful that Square Enix will give Cloud an opportunity to be happy with ever even if she dies at the end they will have more time together.

I never usually comment my opinion on Clerith (because the community can be pretty hateful to us), but... I just gotta say thank you for this video. This actually pointed out a lot of things I didn't pick up on the first few times.
When I first got into FF7, I was just taken aback at how hated this ship is. Even Sefikura (which is honestly the worst ship in this entire franchise) doesn't seem to get this much flack from the community. I can safely say that in my decade long experience of being in and out of fandoms, Clerith is easily one of the healthiest that I've seen. I love this ship very much, I just hate how overhated it is.
I hate feeling like I can't voice my love of this ship without feeling like someone's gonna come in and be like, "erm actually 🤓" which has happened. I responded as respectfully as I could to the person. I said and I quote, "Okay, but again, I can still personally ship Clerith, it is not a horrible ship. :) Please repsect my opinion, this is all I will have to say. Thank you." Shortly after, he either blocked me or deleted his comment. Probably blocked me, even though I responded in the most civil manner. In my opinion, I feel Clerith is canon. This video perfectly showcases all the evidence.
Before any possible CloTis or Clerith haters get on me, remember it is my opinion. It is not the end of the world.
But yeah, that's all I have to say. Clerith is overhated, especially since much worse ships (Sefikura, YuffiexAnybody) are around.
Same! I'm not into online forums, but I kept noticing people saying Cloud didn't love Aerith, like Screen Rant, did because of Zack and his false identity. I honestly think it's because these people didn't play all 3+ games fully (all the side quests, all the side interactions, exploring dialogue) or the 3+ books or were not paying attention. The story has always been focused on them as primary leads.
I'm working on 1.5 right now, and it's still about Cloud and Aerith, even in Zack's own game! But this is for 1.5. :D

Yes, Cloud got his memories confused with Zack. But he acted so much different than Zack. Zack was always outgoing, maybe a little cocky, but wasn't introverted. Cloud on the other hand, with all the trauma and mixed memories, was. I'd like to argue he still retained many aspects of himself pre-trauma, it was already established he was quite shy and introverted. Since people like to argue "it's all Zackkkkkk" can I remind that Cloud didn't even know who Aerith was?? If "it's Zack in there," Cloud would've known who Aerith was somehow right away.
It also bugs me that people can't accept some people move on. Did Aerith love Zack? Sure, you can say that. But (SPOILERS), Aerith knew Zack was dying towards the end of CC, she felt it. As a Cetra, she can feel people close to her dying and returning to the planet. She probably did grieve, especially before then, but she's allowed to move on. Probably controversial, but dwelling on a lost love like that for so long is not healthy.
Sorry for the rant hahaha, I'm still pretty sick and tired of all the unnecessary hate. People will go "ship whatever you want" in this fandom, but Clerith seems to not be welcomed in that mindset.
Me too. It’s actually insane how blindsided people can be to Clerith just because the ship doesn’t contain Zack or Tifa (both are characters whom people love to praise…) but I get it. Zack and Tifa have very typical main character/main love interests vibes which are very different from Cloud and Aeriths characters. I cannot explain to you how important and how much depth Cloud and Aerith holds and it actually scars my heart when I see people diminish something so moving. Cloud and Aerith have a beautiful connection, one of the best I’ve seen. I wish people would just take the time to understand it.

A lot of people who hate Clerith have given ridiculous claims, like “Cloud actually hated Aerith” (he doesn’t, considering he CRIED when she died and if he did hate/dislike her he would tell her straight up), or that Aerith stole Cloud. Basically claims that make little to no sense or people saying things with a pinch of salt. Like I’ve said in my previous comment, some of these same people will go around claiming, “respect our ships!!!” Yet when the ship to respect is Clerith, suddenly the tables are turned and oh “not that ship! No not that one!” Like....why? Why are you so scared to respect clerith???

if you read the script notes for tifa’s resolution scene cloud compares hugging tifa in his dream to a ONE NIGHT STAND HE’S GONNA REGRET. and it literally says he hugs tifa to feel cool, like he accomplished his childhood dream of being the guy that could save tifa, RATHER THAN FEELING ANYTHING FOR HER. with tifa, it’s all about HIM, and his ego, which is why once his ego is healed after OG, he is no longer interested in tifa at all, as shown in AC. however from the day he meets Aerith it’s all about HER. he loves her truly and deeply, admires her, cares and worries for her. clerith is such a beautiful couple.

I completely missed the fireworks motif we see throughout their time spent together which only further pushes their narrative since later on that specific date on the Ferris wheel showcases fireworks which are now associated with Aerith meaning that date is meant for her. 💘 Also with the look forward not back I wonder if we can just apply that towards this whole game to begin with aka a new beginning not the same old ending perhaps??

Engaging with Cloti shippers online after Rebirth came out has honestly been exhausting. All they do is bring up their one (optional) date and refuse to acknowledge that the last two full hours of the game are nothing but Clerith.
Final Fantasy VII OG is A Japanese game. The choices for romance are typical for Japanese games, Visual Novels. But in these games there is is always a story relationship. For FF VII is Aerith and Cloud. Tifa is only a option. If they want, they could do more romance options in OG game. (Tifa, Jessie, Yuffie, Cissnei) Some People dont understan'd mechanics of Japanese style of games.

No Promises to Keep is a message for Cloud, listen to the end credit of No Promises to Keep, they add more lyrics than the one Aerith sings on stage. Cloud and Aerith will reunite in game 3, the game is going in different direction than the original game look at remake/rebirth it’s not the same as the original game and AC will definitely not be the same 😊

This is sooo well done. I don’t understand people need to have Tifa as the main love interest. It has always been Aerith as the ONE. Not Tifa. Now did cloud have a romantic relationship after Aerith died. I think so. I think she was a rebound girl for alittle while (hence the seen under the high wind). But, after awhile he realized that Tifa will never fill the void that Aerith left. Just my two cents. I also believe that remake has position itself to potentially have Aerith live this time. I have mixed feelings on this. I believe Aerith death is not only extremely important for the planet to survive but also to cloud ultimate motivation to kill Sephroth. Saving the planet is just an added side effect.

I believe cloud didn't fall instantly for Aerith, but rather at first he was tolerating her pushy behavior and enjoying it at the same time. For the Elmyra scene when he didn't want her to find out, i personally take it as him being embarrassed to know he made such a deal given his persona of this cool soldier. Imo, cloud had his fall for her moment during Midnight rendezvous that's when he saw Aerith breaking the cycle he always goes through, people come to me only when I'm needed. Throughout the midnight date, it was them bonding instantly.

Aside from shipping, as someone who having the same isolated experience as Cloud I'm well understand that it is actually not anyone's fault that they didn't include me, it's usually because I'm too awkward and having hard time to express myself, I’ve tried but I just couldn't fit in. As for any more ideas for Part 2 to this Video, well....I would love for you to talk more about the English Mistranslation/Localizations in the FF7 Series, because I know for sure that there is NOT SO SUBTLE dialogue between Cloud and Aerith in the Japanese Script that are lost in the English Localization and how the English Mistranslation/Localization could be detrimental to the overall narrative of FF7.
But my main concern is that if there are SO MANY Mistranslations in the FF7 series then I'm not sure if you'll be able to fit my idea into Part 2, so if you won't able to then my recommendation is to save this idea for Part 3 or Part 4 (that is if you're planning on doing more than 2 parts) to avoid more possible burn out, but if you're able to fit my idea in Part 2, then I believe in you :)

I may include this in part 3. I am not a Japanese speaker, but I can catch a few sentences here and there. I'm bilingual too in another East Asian language, so I could tell the Japanese was not translated correctly right away. It's more formal in Japanese, and there's more romantic dialogue with Aerith in the Japanese version. With Tifa it's about the same.
Evergreen Park: Aerith says she "likes Zack" in Japanese, but in English she says "love". Aerith also says Cloud will be "lonely" without her in Japanese, in English she says "Gonna miss me?". The resolution scene, Cloud uses romantic context from a man confessing to a woman, but this is for a later video. :)

You know , I used to hate Clerith CP when I first start to play OG FF7 ( Yes , even my friends hate Aerith and prefer Tifa ). Yea , I was Cloti fan before when back then.
But after I complete FF7 Remake . I regrets my Cloti shipping and prefer Clerith shipping , because while Tifa is a perfect woman ....I feel like...there's no chemistry between her and Cloud of course...something seems really off...instead I find that Aerith has chemistry with Cloud , and whenever Cloud is with her. He sees very relax and happy with her and of course , he is willing to do anything for her and doesn't ask anything. No wonder they both attract each other and fall in love. I gotta say it again.

@@francisco24slb1, I don’t think that aerith and cloud are separated forever in the rebirth . We clearly see a rainbow visual effect when cloud deflected sephiroth’s blade . The same thing happened when Zack created a timeline with his crisis decision ( cure cloud or save Biggs ). We clearly see that cloud could physically interact with aerith in the white space between dimensions , sephiroth also acknowledged her existence. Furthermore , red managed to sense her , so cloud is 100 percent not hallucinating . The only counter argument to cloud and aerith not reuniting is aerith saying «sayonara» right before the credits roll . This word usually means «goodbye forever» . You may interpret it as a last farewell , but during the credits we have nptk . The last lyric of the song states :«still I know one day you’ll come and find me » . It may be a foreshadowing . So keep your hopes up .
P.s when you have doubts think of the main theme of ff7 remake /rebirth . Basically what is the purpose of the story

I have to collect all the footage, and play it twice to get Tifa's scenes too. Tifa's scenes are harder to obtain, because you need to follow a dialogue tree. With Aerith I just played the game not changing anything, and it defaults to her.
But I'm working on 1.5 which is Crisis Core Reunion vs. Remake vs. Rebirth Spoilers. This will be done before Rebirth comes out. :D
