Big difference here on Vancouver Island over the last 3 years have been trying to buy a new chevy work truck dealers have had very little inventory they are selling quick. Just looked again today - no inventory. Repossessions ? There have been no repossession for 4 years now.
That’s a great point, but no would say that location is one of the few densely populated areas of people with heavy wallets as the sheer cost of housing is a pre-requisite to living there. Hence inventory goes quickly and rarely gets taken away.
Everyone I know has to have a new car, once their new car becomes 3-5 years old have to trade it in and buy another new car then complain they have no money. My daily driver is a 34 year old Chevy truck and have had it for 15 years, saved me so much money over the years. It’s really been trouble free, most the repairs i do is usually do to rust, brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, etc. as long as you maintain it and inspect it once and a while i have no issues taking it on road trips.
New vehicles are way over-priced and will never last, with undersized turbo-stressed engines, will be lucky to get to 100K miles before major repairs. Or if it has a hybrid or EV battery, good luck on getting ten years of life before the battery pack is kaput, essentially totaling the vehicle. All very poor investments that quickly build negative equity.
I’m just gonna hold on to my old Toyota Prius I bought outright a few years ago. Tempting as it is, I’m not buying a new car unless I can actually afford to buy it outright.
Of course, a huge part of the problem is the weak Canadian dollar. That 87K vehicle in the USA is 62K. A 47K vehicle in Canada is 34K USD. The weak Canadian dollar is a major factor in these high prices.

I bought a 2023 Ford Escape hybrid. It is not a plug-in. It was a basic model but it cost me 34 thousand US dollars. I would agree, I have also never purchased a brand new car. I have gone with late model a few times but that’s after 25-40percent depreciation and low miles
There is something that car makers and their dealers simply have to factor in their future plans-number of people working from home. That is new culture in modern World.Another thing is construction sector that is recovering at very slow pace. The need for cars and trucks simply isn't there at the extend we used to experience.
I too can afford a new truck, that doesn't make me stupid tho...I'll drive my other 3 vehicles til this big companies come to their senses and drop prices...like 40 to 45 percent at least...I know some people will pay those prices, they are the reason we are in this position, so you guys can support the greed of this big companies..cause I wont be!
Horrible business model in my opinion, operating and manufacturing costs are too high, and let’s not forget the big bonuses for all the senior staff and CEOs, etc
Another youtuber says lease last year model cars and negotiate your negative equity off the price. Once the lease done, turn it in, walk away. NE gone. Only problem he is missing is any vehicle you can negotiate 5-8k off the price is so expensive already those people can't afford those lease payments either.

There is something that car makers and their dealers simply have to factor in their future plans-number of people working from home. That is new culture in modern World.Another thing is construction sector that is recovering at very slow pace. The need for cars and trucks simply isn't there at the extend we used to experience.
Everybody’s buying motorcycles the cars are done.😮
I too can afford a new truck, that doesn't make me stupid tho...I'll drive my other 3 vehicles til this big companies come to their senses and drop prices...like 40 to 45 percent at least...I know some people will pay those prices, they are the reason we are in this position, so you guys can support the greed of this big companies..cause I wont be!
Yes indeed, buyers have been part of these price hikes
Is cheapr to buy a new R.V. and live in it, than buying a home or a new car is beyond the reach of the working people or retirees.
, if u plan on living in it , could qualify as a Home Loan ? 😉🤔
Haha
The actual profit margin isn't that high, so what's going on?
Horrible business model in my opinion, operating and manufacturing costs are too high, and let’s not forget the big bonuses for all the senior staff and CEOs, etc
@@markholubetz Ok, thanks for getting back!
Another youtuber says lease last year model cars and negotiate your negative equity off the price. Once the lease done, turn it in, walk away. NE gone. Only problem he is missing is any vehicle you can negotiate 5-8k off the price is so expensive already those people can't afford those lease payments either.
Haha, yes interesting approach but at the end of the day, the more positive equity you can build in, the better.
mark when will there be a balance. that is what we are looking for.
Hi, we will play that by ear, and while prices have been sliding slightly, I would still watch more for the end of year as the next year products roll in and getting current year vehicles at a bit of a discount
@@markholubetz luv ur content. keep it up.
$85,000 for a JEEP😮😮😮😮😮😮
It’s a lot
It seems All the OEMs are screwing up trying to install *"Planned Obsolescence"* into their vehicles.
Sadly, it seems even my beloved company *"**#Toyota**"* has jumped on the bandwagon of installing "Planned Obsolescence" into their vehicles also. 😢
That is why there are so many recalls of brand new 2023 and 2024 vehicles by all the OEMs. 😮
For sure and even the sheer cost of a lower end Toyota like a RAV4 is now significant money
@@markholubetz I will be placing this comment in many spots because I want you to answer.
Are you thinking of making this a *"**#Patron_Membership**"* channel ❔️
If so, I will drop my *"Patron_Membership "* with "#Electric_Viking" and "join" here.
Why would anybody pay more for less reliability.
I have no clue. It’s mind blowing
Your guess is as good as mine.
Waiting until 2026 to buy a new Tacoma. 💪🏼
. *_"If People Hang Tough"_* .
The prices will come down or they go out of business, Or at the very least the *"**#StealerShips**"* will be having a lot of dusty vehicles on their lots.
(even though I want to run out and buy one right *NOW* ) 😒
Haha, cheers
OVERPRICED FOR “ THOSE” CARS !!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE😂😂😂😂 They’re not QUALITY CARS!!!!!!!!
Not at all
120k for a 1ton? I'll just buy a semi
Yes these dealers have lost touch
Why buy a fossil fuel vehicle? when the government says they are doing away with them. Why buy an EV? we all know they are not the answer. So stick with that Vehicle in your driveway and take care of it. GOD Bless
My car's 21
Nice
Thank you very much. I totally agree, keep what you have as long as possible.
Dealers got greedy and fucked us in 2021. Now they are seeing what happens when you fuck the customer then we cant buy cars for 7 years.
Bought my first new car in 2022. Santa Fe for $70000 because my car broke down. Now i think i will always owe more money on this car than what will be worth. Its $30000 but i owe $45000.
We will have the last laugh. When your prices drop and still no customers
now ? this took place 15 years ago
Yes and it is hitting harder now. 850 sq ft shanti house in Vancouver selling for 3.4 million. It’s literally nuts.
59k for a GT 😳
Prices are a little out of touch
@@markholubetz a little brother?? more like wayyyyyyy out of touch 😂 thanks for the video
Are you boycotting Loblaws this month?
They are a part of the problem in Canada
@@markholubetz government caught sleeping on anti competition regulations
totally right on that. Canadians taking the brunt of bad leaders and brutal regulations
Watch "Used Cars" with Kurt Russell 1976. 1977 Mercedes for $24k that's too F%$# high!
Nice
Mercedes then was much better quality that the modern ones of today
Why dont you show the stickers
I do but it’s so tinted
Cars are becoming homes to people so in that sense you can justify the car price a i guess...
people aren't at work during the day now they're crying poor same folks that bragged about making more on unemployment then working couple years ago caused alot of the problem
That’s interesting for sure
Dont forget to tip your landlord
Right?
I would rather take a AMC hornet than a dodge hornet 😂😅
Haha fair enough
It's like these auto manufacturers that are making these trucks are just stuck on stupid with their super size mentality...
wouldn't it be awesome if one of them came out with a little small pickup truck like the old late 90s Tacoma's or the Ford Rangers ,I think people would stand in line just to rip their back pocket off for something like that at this time...
Yes Fords done that with the Maverick and Ranger and GM has an option or 2 but Dodge is a bit likited
why don't they just buy a Honda hrd or a rav4?
The RAV4 is pricey now too especially in prime
Perfect time for the chinese to come in with a 6-10k economy car
Yeah the dealer will make it 18 thousand lol.they will say cost of shipping
Oh yeah, but DON’T expect quality though.
wtf why repossess a Wrx 🤦 smfhhhhh
Haha
The answer will be import cheap Chinese cars to solve the problem. /s
Competition is critical. That’s what’s broken in Canada with cell phones and groceries
Sir your late they been unaffordable
Not here
Go MOPAR if you must have a work truck.
Nice
Buy used.i see alit if old vehicles
Cheers
It pays to have a trusted mechanic inspect the vehicle before buying. Because the last thing you want to buy is a lemon.
Chrysler is junk and they are crazy for charging these prices
Exactly right
worse than jimmy carter, sigh
Bruh just 3 days ago you made a vid about car prices being slashed and that buyers can get s serious deal. Night and day.... Getting kind of clickbaity.
There are some deals evolving and I am trying to provide guidance to those willing to spend, but the reality is vehicles are simply too high priced to justify for most people these days, including me.
Wonder who was president 4-5 years ago when it all started….hmmm
Well…
I can tell you why on the U.S. side...its called Democratic Party! 😅
Thanks and on the Canadian side its JT
Republicans have held the majority in Congress for 4 years now and they haven't attempted to pass a single bill that would help anyone.
0:56. Reposessions at all time high? I CALL your statement boolshit. Got link to stats backing that claim?
I do, thanks
@@markholubetz post it
Well it’s true. So many people are one paycheck or emergency away from a repossession, or worse.
After watching this clip, I hope this channel does not become another continuous "doom and gloom" channel. There are too many already who just replicate each other to get clicks.
