UPDATE LEICA Q3 FIRMWARE | Leica Q3 Firmware 2.0.1

Hello Epic People!
This video shows how to update firmware on your Leica Q3 using an SD card. Sure you can update your firmware using the Leica FOTOS app, but I feel more comfortable using the SD card method. I am using a Mac but it would be relatively the same for Windows users. Make sure not to interrupt while the firmware is updating.
Leica Q3 firmware 2.0.1 release note.
• The data transfer speed via the Leica FOTOS cable was significantly improved
• New default setting for video format (MP4, 4K, 29.97fps/L-GOP/100Mbps/4:2:0-8bit SD & HDMI/H.264):
Ensures that recorded videos can be downloaded via Leica FOTOS to the mobile device for playback.
• Improved rendering behavior for series of shots:
This facilitates a continuous preview for Continuous - 2 fps / 14 bit / AF and Continuous - 4 fps / 14 bit / AF.
• Automatic switchover from AFc to AFs in low light conditions, the display will now be in Live View
• Significant improvement of startup times
• The rendering quality in Live View when tapping the shutter button (1st pressure point) was significantly
improved
• Bugfixes in the firmware

I absolutely do love the Leica FOTOS app, but I still feel better when I update using an SD card. Am I being too paranoid? No one wants a $6000 brick LOL

Question about the profile import at the end. How did you put the profiles on the card? You mention saving them. Did you do that in a step not on the video? Or does the Q3 copy them over at time of import or during the firmware update process? If you did it separately did you do that after formatting before copying over the firmware?

I showed exporting on 2:50 and importing back on 3:55 in the video~

i just update through the app. no issues and it was quick and super easy to do. a lot less fuss than moving a file onto the sd card and the phone is basically just downloading the firmware to the camera sd card anyway. when that’s done the rest happens entirely on the camera so no need to worry about your phone. just make sure your q3 battery is charged up.

hey michael, after i updated i notice all my previous custom setting and functional keys are reset to factory default.. did this happen to u ever? coz i dont want to go through hours to reset all my profile setting again lol for both photo/video

When I downloaded the update I could only open it in Photoshop DNG ? - Did not know how to do then?

hello michael before I buy leica q 3 , I do so many research, just would like to ask the first pressure point on focusing , is it improved? becoz I saw the v2.0.1 can improve the quality in Live View when tapping the shutter button (1st pressure point) was significantly improved

It will depend on what system you are used to. If you are coming from Sony… leica af is very bad if you compare to Sony.

i saw the comments from internet some user say when they shooting will happen the problem, it means the screen color or exposure (when tapping the shutter button, first pressure point ) is different between the final result.

@@ltmltm5064 that still happens. Im guessing the camera is brightening the image to get better focus.
