    Thanks so much for exposing the bug in the q3! I am a new user to the camera and have not understood why I seemed to “inadvertently” go into video mode. I wasn’t familiar enough with the camera to realize it was a bug.
    Your setup video has been very helpful as well. Thanks for helping us Leica neophytes!

    Hi Hudson, frustrating that the latest firmware 3.0.0 still doesn't fix this bug. Come on Leica!

    FYI - I'm sending a couple of eyepieces for you to check out - a round eyepiece and a round eye cup for the Z6 III (they fit all bodies in the Z5, Z6, Z7 series). You should see them early next week.

    I bought the Asus ProArt based upon your original video. Only minor complaints...the dial often loses it's settings and won't work unless you go in and resave the preferences. I even contacted Asus...they confirmed the issue, but have no real solution. It's a minor inconvenience to be sure. Wonderfully powerful laptop!

      I do love the ability to scrub the timeline when video editing or use as it as a volume button, but I do agree they could increase it's functionality further. I wish it could also mute with a press instead of entering settings...

    Thank you so much for your Q3 Profiles, they are very helpfull for me. If i would like to change the Language, do i have change it in every profile? Thanks in advance for a hint. Best regards, Peter

    Similar but slightly different FN2 button issue.
    For this update I saved profiles to the card that was in the camera (and that had recent images on it). Replaced that card with a newly formatted card with the firmware update. Followed directions and all went well.
    Replaced card with the one with the profiles and images. Had to reset time zone and date format (actual time and date were correct). Took an image so the camera would read the last recorded image frame number and continue with the sequential number instead of restarting at #0001. (I think this number reset issue is more common if using a newly formatted SD card to update instead of Fotos and/or having a card with images on it in the camera).
    Loaded profiles and everything worked except Function button 2, which I had previously set to AE lock, reverted to the Digital zoom setting. It did not change to Photo/Video switch. Fix was the same as you describe. Changing it back to AE lock for each profile and resaving the profile.

      I had that counter issue too - I formatted my card again and copied the photo with the highest count from my computer into the directory on the card and it startet counting from there with next shot. Truely poor software quality control in Wetzlar.

    Thanks for the video. I bought my Q3 in July and this has been my first firmware update after the one I had to upload when unpacking the camera. I don’t have that bug after uploading 2.05 and Fn2 works still the same way as configured when I reload my profiles. Maybe a complete reset to the factory defaults and then installing the new firmware solves that bug?

      @@safesurfer1965 I wonder if it's only AF-L or some limited set of options that won't take. What do you set Fn2 for in your profiles?

    Hudson, there is a new lighter weight ProArt P16 out now. It has the new AMD Ryzen chip with a great Nvidia Geforce RTX 40 series GPU. And priced a few dollars less. What do you think about this one?

    • @HudsonHenryPhoto
      @HudsonHenryPhoto  4 месяца назад +1

      They're very different machines. The P16 is very cool looking, lighter and more commuter friendly than the StuidoBook 16. It also looks like it has the StudioBook 16's crazy touch OLED which is fabulous. Now the negatives. I'm sure it cant' compete on cooling. The Studiobook vents so efficeintly out those huge ports on the back sides. Best laptop I've ever had for cooling. I also doubt if the P16 has the spare M.2 drive port that's so nice on the StudioBook 16. I dropped a 4TB Samsung EVO 980 in there for screaming fast onboard data storage totally seperate from the OS. Just pulled it off the XPS15's board and plugged it into the Studiobook in about 10 minutes. It only has one fast USB-C port that's also it's charging port and one fast USB-A port. The StudioBook can charge via one of it's two Thunderbolt 4 ports or via it's traditional power input jack, plus it has two 20Gbps USB-A ports alongside it's HDMI, Ethernet and SD reader ports. I'll bet the P16 is nicer to toss in a bag for a trip, but the StudioBook is nicer to sit down and crank out some serious work on. They're both insanely nice machines. You won't regret etiher I bet.

    I’m not affected by this bug. My F2 options are exposure metering, auto iso settings, perspective control and clipping/zebra.

    • @HudsonHenryPhoto
      @HudsonHenryPhoto  4 месяца назад

      It's only in the user programmed profiles. Which of those settings do you have active in your custom profiles?

    Sometimes I wonder who's in charge of software at Leica.. And not only for the Q3. Camera freezing, files disappearing, camera's dont switch of, wrong format of the firmware at this update file etc etc.. It goes on and on.. Never had anny issues with my Nikons. Don't they test things at Leica?...

    • @HudsonHenryPhoto
      @HudsonHenryPhoto  4 месяца назад +1

      @@frits1463 haven't had any if those issues with my Q2 or 3. just this one annoying fn button issue. I do wish nikon would look to how Leica implements profiles. It's elegant and Nikon's user modes and banks are a dumpster fire honestly. 😂

    • @phil5743
      @phil5743 4 месяца назад

      None of these with my Q3. File format problem only applied if you were manually updating which is redundant for most people who use the fantastic app which is far superior to Nikon, Canon , Fuji etc.

    • @HudsonHenryPhoto
      @HudsonHenryPhoto  4 месяца назад

      @@phil5743 no, the app is how I always update too and it sadly still presents the fn2 bug in any profile with it set to AF-L. I've chatted with Leica's team and they downloaded my profiles setting file and confirmed the bug in version 2.0.1
      Sadly, still there in 2.0.5. I love my Q3, but no camera is perfect.
      Also, Nikon's app has also gotten extremely good. I'd put them on the same level. Both work great at firmware updates, photo downloads, GPS tagging, time sync and remote control. No winner there.

    • @phil5743
      @phil5743 4 месяца назад

      @HudsonHenryPhoto I didn't mean the app removed the bug you were discussing. I was responding to the wrong file format posted for manual firmware updating that needed to be renamed.
