Before I watched Evangelion I could have never imagined myself enjoying pieces of music such as this as much as I do now. Evangelion really changed me, and it holds a huge place in my life.
why would she still care about her mother, her mother is a piece of shit that killed herself and also wanted to suicide pact with her four year old daughter
3:23 Gendo Ikari: 'Pulls out a gun' Ritsuko Akagi, the truth is....Happiness is a cigar called Hamlet, the mild cigar. Ritsuko Akagi: You liar! 'Gendo shoots Ritsuko'.
"But the life of the Spirit is not the life that shrinks from death and keeps itself untouched by devastation, but rather the life that endures it and maintains itself in it. It wins its truth only when, in utter dismemberment, it finds itself." -G. F. Hegel
I wonder if that's what inspired this quote: "Bring forth the true form of the Eva series! The true form will evangelize humanity. Through indiscriminate death and through prayer, we will return to our original state."
Given the explicit Schopenhauarian themes in the series (The Hedgehog’s Dilemma, etc.), I think that most of Anno’s German Idealism themes are intentional. 👍🏽
This genre of music is super misunderstood and not given enough attention. It really makes you sit down and think as well ponder the many questions of life, not to mention the superior sound of the strings that really bring this song Alive, this song is super special and very well and beautiful song. what is it with this song, it's been associated with brutal or violent scene in some Japanese movie/games, Asuka destroying Angels, Battle Royale, and Evil WIthin, after Sebastian Castellano woke up upside down while captive by the sadist
Even just the music alone, I can still hear the sound of Asuka’s screaming and the sounds of her Eva clashing against the mass produced ones. The song had the same length as the fight…what a tragic yet poetic way to go…
I know this was a really good anime as soon as I heard Bach. Shinji played BWV 1007, EoE had this and BWV 147. Komm, Süsser Tod even though it doesn’t have musical relation to Bach, the name is a reference to the Bach piece in that very same name.
I think they used this song in the rereleased UK Kitchen Nightmares. Edit: Yes, confirming it is even this exact arrangement being used as well (fast forward to 30:00): ruclips.net/video/UXzdAg4wTrs/видео.html
