This piece brings tears to my eyes...my dad was a music teacher so growing up he wud always have different classical pieces playing in the house...I remember being like 7 or 8 and we sat down and listened to this and he said "this is Bach and this is beauty in the form of music." Him and I were so close growing up...he passed away 3/13/08 of pancreatic cancer...I miss him so much but he left me w this gift of appreciating the beauty of music...im now passing that onto his grand children who unfortunately he never got to meet....thank you, daddy...i love u..

When I had to put my little 9 year old dog to sleep, I had the vet wait while I made sure I played this during his last moments here on earth with me. I cry everything I hear this song. 😪
How can it be that, no matter who ever listens to music like this for the very first time, they all say the same thing. It brings everybody to tears. Why is that? It is magic, it is the perfect alchemy, spellweaving through sounds and vibrations that crack open every hardened heart, burst to pieces every encrusted capsule freeing feelings of empathy, passion, love and light. What in the world would we be able to achieve if we incorporate such thing in our everyday life. How much healing would be done to our souls, how much service would be freely given to those in need. Imagine the light we could shed among ourselves and throughout the entire galaxy!
Many as I say great music as this brings them to tears. Imo, this is good, because tears are like salve for our soul. We cry Imo because our souls are touched and overwhelmed by the beauty we hear coming through the miraculous music given to us by God. Beautiful music like creation and life, is not magic, but a miracle. We may be blessed with the voice of angels, but if we don't use the blessing for the Blessor, we may lose it. Imo, this is why many of the great artists, actors, singers, musicians and composers died young, far before their time. :)
When i first heard this particular piece of music I was in Paris in one of those red tour buses. The tour was coming to an end as the bus was driving through the streets of Paris to our final destination. It was rainy, cold and gray, people where rushing home or the the nearest pub. Suddenly, the tour guide stopped talking and through the ear phone this melody creeps in. Un forgettable!
This music is dangerously beautiful. It controls you to a point where your body and mind loses its consciousness and becomes a sole disciple of the music. That is saying everything on its infinite power.
Bach, a devout Christian, wrote on many of his compositions, "To God Be the Glory," recognizing that all good gifts, including his gift of music, comes from God. This is but a foretaste of heaven.
This "Air on the G String" was the 1st. classical music I listen over 50 years ago, it brought tears then, it still brings tears today, so peaceful in these difficult and trying times.
The emotions that are stirred are indescribable - but I feel joy, peace, longing, wonder, pain, loss, and everlasting hope. I could listen to this every day. It actually takes me someplace beautiful, and my body responds to it as well. My blood pressure seems to lower and my muscles relax. If I close my eyes I feel as if I'm being pulled towards an eternal light, much the way a plant or flower bends towards the sun.
This song, It's so... Bittersweet, it reminds me of the feeling of acceptance. As if there were a tragedy, and you found yourself distraught, but came to accept your feelings on the matter. It's so melancholy, it just permeates the soul.

This sublime, beautiful piece is titled ONLY Air, and was composed around 1830 as the second part of Bach's Orchestral Suite # 3 in D major. In 1871, the German violinist August Wilhelmj transposed the piece down to the key of C major without any other changes to the melody. He named his transposition " Air on a G String " because by playing it in the lower key, it was possible to play the entire piece on just one string of the violin, said string being the G string. It's a shame how no one seems to know that Bach's Air has been incorrectly refereed to as the transposition from a violinist decades later.
