      @Jay and Amber: You would not only enjoy "Wild Thing", you would love their other hits "With a Girl Like You", "Love is All Around" (famously covered by Wet Wet Wet for the movie FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL), "I Can't Control Myself" and "Anyway You Want Me". The Troggs were another British Invasion band in the US in the mid 1960s 🎉

    Wendy James was THE poster girl of the 80's I'd forgotten how great this song is that scream she does and the guitar riff that kicks in has you hooked straight away one of the coolest intros to a song for sure. that. Wendy made the cover of Tatler magazine wearing only a viynl record covering her modesty and winking at the camera and it became a iconic photo instantly. But Transvision vamp were also so good as a live band. This is still such a great song. (matt) their debut album "Velveteen" is a fantastic album from start to finish

    Guys, another VERY underrated singer from the 80s is Annabelle Lwin from a band called Bow Wow Wow. Pleeeease check out one of their songs called 'Cowboy' from 1982. When you listen to it remember she was only 15 years old when she sang that. It's such a powerful song, the bass guitar and electric guitar right from the first moment just seem to build up and up and up through the whole song. It's catchy but dramatic sounding. It's one of those songs that you'll remember for the right reasons.

      To be fair, they both have the same chord progression (A-D-Em-D). Also used in the songs "Hang On Sloopy", "Get Off My Cloud" by the Stones, and the bridge in "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", and many others, I'm sure.

    • @ptournas
      @ptournas 2 месяца назад +5

      Actually closer to Hang On Sloopy and Wild Thing. Louis Louis uses a minor chord for the the fifth (the third chord in the intro), A-D-Em-D. This song's sheet music shows a F5-B flat5-C5-B flat5. I've been playing guitar for over sixty years and they actually sound like major chords to me, F-B flat-C-B flat. It also looks like he's playing the major forms. Either way, he's definitely not playing a minor for the the third chord in the progression. Wild Thing and Hang on Sloopy both use the same I-IV-V-IV progression, Wild Thing is A-D-E-D and Hang on Sloopy is G-C-D-C. The I-IV-V-IV has been used in dozens of popular rock songs, La Bamba and Twist and Shout are a couple more.

    Wow, it's GREAT to see TVV getting some attention. Velveteen is one of the best albums that most people don't even know exists. While this song is an out and out banger, I'd suggest checking out "Falling for a Goldmine" from the same album. It's a much different sound, but still a GREAT song.

    Wendy James. Elvis Costello and his then wife sat down for some days and wrote a great bunch of songs for her. Became her first solo album. Best song, highly recommended, "Basement Kiss".

    Had drinks/coffee with Wendy a number of years in NYC at her favorite French Bistro. Could not be lovelier, a bit guarded, and we spoke about what the band members were doing at the time, and her favorite bands growing up. Still have our emails framed.

    Hi guys. I am a 74 year old man who discovered this first time hearing on RUclips a few weeks ago. I've seen quite a bit in the last weeks. I started out listening to some Pink Floyd's Comfortably numb and Great gig about ten times each. I'm re listening like I never did before. I found you guys to be the most interesting because you are learning to enjoy at the same time. I love your reactions to the music I grew up with. I was a big Beatles and Stones fans from day 1. The 60s and 70s were my music. I enjoy the way J takes it in and you, Amber, the way you analyze and feel the music. As a hard core Lennon fan, I was a bit jealous that Yoko contacted you. I wrote her when John died. It was a very sad day in my life. I loved the Stones, Beatles, Animals, Who, Beach Boys and Pink Floyd as the top 6. There is one song I would love a reaction and haven't found anywhere. It's ''As the years go passing by'' by Eric Burdon and the Animals. There have been many versions but none like this one. Very psychedelic and a long blues. You will like it. looking forward to more oldies from you. Thank you for helping me rediscover how to listen to good music, some of which I had taken for granted. I am enjoying listening more thanks to you guys. Robert.

    When Amber said the riff reminded her of King Of The Hill I think she meant Futurama, as that sounds closer to Wild Thing by The Troggs that this riff is taken from. You guys have also reviewed Real Wild Child by Iggy Pop which is a cover of Wild Thing.

    Great reaction. I must admit, I missed these guys back in the day. I did not hear this song until your video. It’s great.
    And Jay: you are correct. This riff is a very well worn familiar one. I know it first from the classic rock garage band song “Louie Louie”. But it’s been used a lot. It’s a classic rock riff.
