So pleased you've discovered M People. A hidden UK gem for you guys across the pond. They were DEFINITELY 90s not 80s. Plenty to choose from including "How Can I Love You More", "Don't Look Any Further", "One Night in Heaven", "Proud" , "Search for The Hero " and "Renaissance" to name just a few. Just to add, the reason they're called M People is after the "leader" of the band called Mike Pickering (the guy on sax). An influential Club DJ of the time who was part of the late 80's Chicago/Acid House scene in Manchester and the UK in general. A great DJ and remixer. This is his group.

There was a brit comedy series called miranda that was written by and starred miranda heart.she owns a shop her and her assistant would have heathers face on a stick.every now and then would put it in front of their faces and imitate her singing what have you done today to make you feel proud.which is from her song proud.in one ep she made a guest appearance.it was so awkward yet so funny.
    They're an early 90's group.

Heather’s voice is a powerhouse in the UK. I would say her standout track is “what have you done today to make you feel proud“
But now you absolutely must check out Dina Carroll.

Yes! Heather Small & M People. Amazing voice, most of their songs are great.
Still listen to them in 2024.
Along with Gabrielle (still going, latest album just released).
Lisa Stansfield, Dina Carroll, Neneh Cherry.
Not sure if you have reacted to any of those?
Have you tried Craig David, Lynden David Hall, Hinda Hicks?
    Definitely worth a try.

This was something of a club song in the early 90s as I recall. I remember hearing this like crazy when I moved to Austin in 94. This to me was a somewhat disco-influenced song, as 70s disco had a real resurgence in the early/mid 90s.

This band is amazing! They had a bunch of great songs that were huge in the gay clubs, and never failed to pack the dance floors. Also check out "One Night in Heaven", and their amazing cover of "Itchycoo Park". As a solo artist Heather Small had a wonderful song called "Proud", the chorus of which had words to live by and aspire to. "What have you done today to make you feel proud?" It's like going to church! ❤️🎶

This song is not Eurodance. House yes, Eurodance no. Eurodance was based on techno beats, this wasn't, it was more based on funk-disco type of beats.
