I'm studying special effects makeup and hair, and having started my wig making classes I just could not get ventilating and found it so difficult, I've been sitting at home practicing getting so ridiculously frustrated. Where can we buy or how can we make a men’s full lace toupee? I’m only able to find full caps, and I’ve found sheets of lace, but they are completely flat. Also LOVE LOVE LOVE this tutorial!

    • @rickygreenwell

      Chris I don't work with Toupee's sad to say I do theatrical wigs so I am often doing full wigs. And yes the lace is flat and you would have to shape it. www.hisandher.com/search.phtml?sp=wig+base this is were I get a lot of my remade wig bases from.

    Hi Ricky so I'm having an issue working with swiss lace. I have the Asian needle and for some reason I can not get the needle through the lace to save my life...your so good at what you do so can you give some type of pointer that might help me...please and thank you so much! Your video is awesome by the way!!!

    • @rickygreenwell
      @rickygreenwell  6 лет назад

      Are you having trouble entering the lace or pulling the needle out after you have made a tie or the process of tying.

    • @prettyinpink2927
      @prettyinpink2927 6 лет назад

      Ricky Greenwell , I'm having a problem with the swiss lace because im guessing its because the holes are so small. So, I insert the needle in the hole of the lace...and when I go to grab the hair on the needle it picks up the hair that it wants. I go to pull the needle back through the hole with the hair on it...and the hair falls off needle and its super difficult to even pull the needle back through the hole...I don't know how to fix this problem...I practice and on that lace because i figured that the swiss lace is the best lace for frontal and it makes the hairline look so natural...what are your thoughts...please I really need your help...should I try another lace or stick with this pain in my butt lace? Lol

    the video is great and very informing. Thanks for slow-mo in doing the process very helpful[ the first i saw]. How many packs of hair does it take to make a full lace wig? What kind of lace net did you use? cost? and where to find it? Plez response back soon as possible :)

  • @rickygreenwell

    I am looping the hair back I hold about an inch of hair just enough to create a loop but not enough to create a long tail back on itself.

  • @rickygreenwell
    @rickygreenwell  11 лет назад

    the Single vs Double is a preference most people use a single but a double can be more secure. so it is often used in the crown of a wig. I hold the loop of the hair at the end I want a little of the root end sticking up in the wig.

  • @LizLele
    @LizLele 4 года назад

    Thanks! What should I do with the tail end of the hair I ventilate? I snipped it close to the knot and it feels spikey

    • @rickygreenwell

      It will feel spiked but one you get enough hair it will all be fine it fills out the piece.

    @ILoveToScrub you have to rotate you holder and needle a bit to get it under the lace. It takes practice but once you get the rotate down that will make life easier.

    Hi Ricky! So I have no problem putting the needle through the hole in the swiss lace...my problem begins when I grab the strand of hair and try to pull it through the lace...it won't go through with hair and the hole is so small the needle sometime snags a little ..and i definitely feel like giving up...because I'm trying so hard....I have practice with lace that has bigger holes and it works out just fine but the swiss lace...gives me big problems...please help

    I love your video Ricky! I'm starting out with synthetic hair too and it is really hard to work with but it's cheap and I can get a lot of it. Your video shows the process the best I think of all the ones on RUclips, thank you! But I'm having trouble with the last part when I pull the hair through the loop, the rest of the hair I'm holding in my left hand will bunch up and separate! Then I loose speed having to flatten, and loop the hair again. Am I holding the hair wrong or too tight?

    Have you got any tips for a complete beginner. I just bought a ventilating hook from China they claimed it would have a latch hook. Unfortunately it does not. The needle is only picking up 1 or 2 strands of hair. I feel like giving up. It is drive me crazy. As soon as I draw 1 hair through the needle it fall straight off. However, I would really like to learn this technique. I am from the U.K. so ordering from American is out of the question because of shipping. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks

    • @rickygreenwell
      @rickygreenwell  6 лет назад

      www.atelierbassi.com/en/ are great EU Source. some hooks do only pick up one or two hairs these are the kind of hooks you use for the from of a wig the lager the number the more hair I believe. Wig work can be very slow going but once the get the hang of it it can go fast. The big issue is tension on the hair keeping it even. Makeup sure you have enough hair loop on the cut end so the you can complete a knot with out it pulling out.
